If u go to biase, biase is a local govt in cross river state, they have their own language, dont really know what they speal and which ethnic group they r whether ejagam, mbube or part of qua or efik... But in that biase, there is a community called ikot ekwere if am not mistaken. That community is strictly occupied by akwaibomites... Will these people say they r ibibio when they r in cross river state? NIgeria is complex jare. We should start deemphasising tribes and relate with citizens based on their personal competence. |

Zoharariel: The only Yoruba Movie I love so much is TALONGBEMU (Who dey carry nose).
It was released in 2001 and I think it was the first major production of Mr. Latin (Not Sure).
Around 2006, I went to Eko Idumota and rumaged through the entire Movie Section at (Ebinpejo Lane or so) looking for this movie and I couldn't get it.
Well, I stopped watching Yoruba Movies long time ago since they only promote Cultism, Oloshoism, Armed-Robbery & other useless societal vices but - there can never be any Yoruba Movie as interesting & funny as TALONGBEMU BABA ONI WAIDI.
Mr. Latin, if you're seeing this, kindly make TALONGBEMU available for us. Did you watch Tade Ogidan's Madam Dearest and Tunde Kilani's Thunder Bolt? |

Amopeekun: Thank you, I appreciate.
1) No, Gambari is a fusion of many ethnic groups, mainly from the north, especially the bazan bakwais, others from gobir, a Hausa bakwai and the others from kanem-borno. Hausa became the main language since it was and still the most popular among the northerners. The different groups are mainly identified by their tribal marks, till this day. And of course, every group has it own location. I don't know, but their proximity, similar way of life, religion and the likes, earned them that name, Gambari.
2) The beri beri are a group from Kanem- borno. They are sometimes called the kanuris. This is the group I belong. I hope this helps. Thanks once again for the matured response. Your first paragraph confirm what I read in the History of Ilorin that the people collectively referred to as Gambari in Ilorin represent the the non-Yoruba, non-Fulani settlers in the 19th century Ilorin. However in the modern day Ilorin, most Indigenes are descents of Yoruba, Fulani, Nupe and the 'Gambari' groups due to centuries of inter-tribal marriages, all united under the banners of Islam. I have never seen an Ilorin Indigene who is not a Muslim. |

Thanks for the matured responses. It's good to hear it directly from the horse's mouth. 1) Is Gambari an ethnic group? If yes, where precisely is their ancestral origin? Which language do they speak. Can you tell us the names of 3 of their native dieties. 2) Are Beriberi you are mentioning the same as the more common Bariba? |

Amopeekun: No sir, the Gambaris are a whole group. We have four main groups: Gambari, Fulani, Ajikobi and Alanamu. Good morning You got it wrong ma. In Ilorin, there are four Baloguns (Generals) ,each representing some ethnic interests; 1) Balogun Fulani: The General from the Fulani group 2) Balogun Gambari: The General from the non-Fulani, non-Yoruba population 3) Balogun Ajikobi: The General from the Ajikobi family and their allies/supporters 4) Balogun Alanumu: General from the descendants of Alanumu. Both Num-4 and Num-4 are original Yoruba Aborigines of Ilorin. |

Amopeekun: No sir/ma, we are not. I am beriberi. Most Gambaris are. The other parts of Gambari, we have the bakastines, the nupawas, gobirawas and the likes. At the central, you have the ruling Sokoto clan, the descendants of Alimi.
I can't agree, unapologetically, that we are ruled by a Yoruba king, because what we have in Ilorin is a mix of all tribes. Importantly, the Emirates heads, because of our religious affiliation and Quranic foundation. We may speak a version of Yoruba but we know who we are.
The idi Apes, are the only ones claiming to be Yorubas with the alanamus, but hey, it is what it is and we are not complaining If the Gambaris are not the same as Fulanis, how come an Emir of Fulani descent bore the name; Zukarmani Zulu-Gambari (the father of the incumbent Emir, Ibrahim Kolapo Gambari)? |

This looks so banal and jejunile, all what you listed have been put up for privatization in the past with varying degrees of success. Besides, when did you become the mouthpiece of 'The North'? [quote author=AbujaCitiBlog post=98182220]How is the North Preventing your Tinubu from running for office? Why is he using his minions to bleat that power should return to the South? Why why why [/quote You don't even know what you are saying: People are campaigning for Tinubu all over Nigeria. Did this group mentioned anything about the North? Why complaining on their behalf? Did Tinubu/S/west say anyone should not contest? Whether North or South is contesting in 2023, Tinubu has a right to contest. You can only appeal to people to support you but you can NOT blackmail other candidates out of the presidential race. Urging the APC leadership to respect the power sharing agreement does NOT in any way mean any candidate from anywhere can not contest. No party can force candidates out of the race. In 2014 when the APC agreed that the North should have the ticket, Okorocha still contested and came 4th position. Abubakar Rimi and Gemade from the North contested the 2003 PDP presidential primaries. Northern candidates are free to participate in the race. Indeed Atiku, the foremost candidate from the North already have the presidential ticket of the PDP locked down for him. |

By 2023 the South West where Tinubu hails from will have had the Presidency and Vice Presidency for 16 Years within a space of 24 years.
