HealthRe: Edo Records 27 New COVID-19 Cases by oz4real83(m): 11:49am On May 27, 2020
Edo State has boundary with Kogi state. Kogi state is a state that doesn't believe that covid-19 exists and does nothing about it. In saner climes, the Edo govt is supposed to strictly close its borders with Kogi state and ensure that inter-state travel ban is enforced to the core but unfortunately, nothing like that is happening. Edo still relies on the police and other security agencies, which are well known money making agencies, to enforce the interstate travel ban instead of setting up a taskforce to enforce its directives.
PoliticsRe: Petrol Price May Increase As Brent Stabilises Around $35/barrel by oz4real83(m): 9:35am On May 26, 2020

1.Refienry one was built under the colonialists, as was refinery 2.

2.Refieneries 3 and 4 (New Port Harcourt plus Kaduna) were started under the oil boom days of the 1970's...when we had the megacash.

3.Also when we started building the refieneries, oil was just one of several things we produced. Oil did not become our sole soruce of income until the Sahgari era.(1982-3).We had the money then.

4.Abacha's loot. The one they shared was $500million. A lot, but in reality not enough. Abacha looted an estimated $4 billion.(and the governments past and present haven't gotten all of it. Bubu got $500million for now)
get your facts right, no refinery in Nigeria was built prior to 1960. Also, smaller countries are building refineries, why can't Nigeria? It has been alleged in foreign media that Nigeria has received over $600b from oil sales since oil was discovered but nothing to show for it.
PoliticsRe: Petrol Price May Increase As Brent Stabilises Around $35/barrel by oz4real83(m): 8:34am On May 26, 2020

It costs anywwhere between $1-11 bilion dollars to build a refienry. Dangote refinery costs at least $9 billion dollars.

Our budget for comparison this year was $26 billion. 4 new refinereis cost $36 billion.

And the reason why we can't build new refienreis is that it means removing subsides. and that means prices icnreases...which would provide the funding for new refineries...but people in the short term would have to pay higher for fuel...which is why we prefer to spend N15 TRILLION on subsides rather than on building new refienreies.
there are refineries that cost $1b, $2b or $3b. If Nigeria could build FOUR in the past, what makes u think we can't build another one now? What are they using Abacus recovered loots for? For school feeding programmes for pupils already at home? embarassed. While some were alleged shared to "poor" families that are untraceable. We are living in country where her leaders delight in defrauding their people.
PoliticsRe: Petrol Price May Increase As Brent Stabilises Around $35/barrel by oz4real83(m): 8:16am On May 26, 2020
kikero:
You left out the refining costs ie the cost of turning that barrel into PMS , the cost to ship it from foreign refienry to Nigeria, and the cost to transport it within Nigeria

Add that up, and fuel ,,ie petrol would cost more than N83.58.

A barrel of oil can be refined into many products from Petrol to engine oil to gas, and so on.

You are assuming oil companies drill out petrol from the ground. It is crude oil (which if we put it in your car engine would totally wreck it. It has to be refined to petrol before it can enter your car!)
how much does it take to build a refinery? If are too poor to build a new refinery, how much does it take to repair 4 already built refineries? You said Nigeria has spent over N15tr on subsidies since 1999, is that not enough to build new refineries or even repair the old ones? The Nigerian authorities know the fraud they are enjoying in it. Also, there are other products in a barrel crude oil. These products will take care of other costs that u mentioned. I only based my analysis on one of the bye-producrs of a barrel of crude oil, which is petrol.
PoliticsRe: Petrol Price May Increase As Brent Stabilises Around $35/barrel by oz4real83(m): 7:48am On May 26, 2020

No, it isn't overpriced. Infact, we pay the lowest price for fuel in the whole West African subregion....all our neighbours pay at least N300 per liter of fuel...including countries like Niger where fuel costs N350 per liter.

Infact, it is the subsidy that government is paying that keeps fuel prices at N123.5 for now.

And government want's to hands off oil because over the last 15 years we have paid subsides for fuel to the tune of N15 trillion naira. That's money that could have gone for educaiton, health, etc. And because oil prices are too low for us to keep on paying subsides effectively. We need oil as high as $139 per barrel as our breakeven oil price. It has never been that high for some time.
a barrel is approximately 159L. There was a time this year a barrel of oil was sold for less than $30 and $30 translate to N11,700 suppose we use a rate of N390/$. Dividing N11700 by 159L yields N73,58k. Suppose there are additional costs which adds N10 to a litre, won't that yield N83:58k? Our products are over priced.
PoliticsRe: Petrol Price May Increase As Brent Stabilises Around $35/barrel by oz4real83(m): 6:24am On May 26, 2020
At a time that oil price was very very low in the international market, Nigerians were still paying expensively for petroleum products, petroleum price was only reduced from N145 to N125 which was still very much overpriced, it shouldn't have been more than N80/L. Why increase it now with just little increase in the International market which isn't still up to what Nigerians have been paying? Why doesn't the govt want to completely hands-off controlling the oil sector? It won't surprise me to hear tomorrow that Nigeria paid $2b monthly to subsidise oil, a product that had low price in the international market for a long period lipsrsealed
PoliticsRe: APC NWC May Adopt Indirect Primaries In Ondo by oz4real83(m): 4:52am On May 25, 2020
IamPatriotic:
Did you read the entire news or you only read the heading? It was the NWC headed by Comrade Adams Oshiomohle that approved the indirect primary for Ondo, just the same way it approved direct for Edo, because unlike Edo chapter of the party, the Ondo chapter is not polarized.
who polarised the Edo State chapter of APC? Is it not the same group of people led by Oshiomole?. They polarised it so as to find an excuse to impose an indirect primary. We should never be one sided in our analysis. The battle will be tough.
PoliticsRe: Reps Strip PSC Powers To Recruit Constables, Protect Cps From Govs by oz4real83(m): 7:28am On May 24, 2020
They should have also ensured that in states where there are fulani/herdsmen problems, Fulanis or northerners should not be police commissioners. You can't be a judge in your own case. Take Edo State for example, herdsmen have been a problem but because the police commissioner and AIG are from the north, whenever any herdsmen is caught for crime, the herdsman has a high probability of being released without prosecution. To cap it all, the state's police PRO is from the south east and always give his statement as "the police isn't aware, we will get back to u when we have more information" . With these sorts of police, how will crime stop in Edo state?
CrimeRe: NDLEA Discovers ‘First-Ever’ Indian Hemp Oil Lab In Lagos by oz4real83(m): 5:03am On May 24, 2020
This post highlighted two issues which I want to talk about. Firstly, we were made to know that the laboratory manifactures "hashish oil" which is highly demanded in the international market for treating cancer. Is anything bad in this? All our leaders that go abroad for treatment, of cancers, what do they use abroad in treating them? It may even contain this hashish oil that somebody here is being harassed and disgraced for embarassed . Secondly, the other part of the report where various illegal materials were found with them is because of govt's failure to regularize a business like this. If the govt saw that what the guy was manufacturing was important, they should have given him a little concession but monitors his activities to make sure he doesn't over-do it. Even in America, the govt gives freedom for such things and that is why we hear words like "medical marijuana".
PoliticsRe: Edo2020: The Impossibility Of Conducting An Indirect Primary In Edo State by oz4real83(m): 8:21pm On May 23, 2020
All your reasons showed that u are a supporter of Oshiomole. You said that whether direct or indirect, both are valid but why are u now saying only direct primary is legally feasible? Also, is Samuel Ogbemudia stadium not large enough to contain less than 5000 delegates and the media and security agencies? Whether direct or indirect, all elections are expensive in Nigeria. Some of u never learn lesson from history, the same way u cheered Oshiomole on to make APC lose Zamfara, Bayelsa and barred from participating in River's election, u are also cheering him on now, the consequences will still come.
PoliticsRe: It's Easier To Recover Looted Fund When The Looter Died by oz4real83(m): 4:00pm On May 23, 2020
A looter can only protect his loot while he is alive. Some looters are over 80years now and in the next few years, they will join their ancestors grin. That is when the govt realises that they were looters aNd make attempt to recover their loots. grin grin grin
PoliticsRe: Trump Sent 1000 Ventilators To South Africa Not Nigeria by oz4real83(m):
Most countries are progressing because of some basic principles they practise. "Give and it shall be given unto u good measures, press down, shaken together". Even in the midst of great needs, these countries still remember to help out other countries in need. How many countries have Nigeria helped in Africa in this covid-19 depression period? We are begging and waiting for other countries to give us ventilators even when we are rich enough to afford them. This is one reason small countries don't respect us and require us to have visas before coming to their countries. Nigerian govt are similar to Yahoo boys, they all beg oyibo people for one form of favour or the other. What a shame embarassed
PoliticsRe: Excitement As Calabar Port Takes Delivery Of Four Shiploads Of PMS by oz4real83(m): 2:05pm On May 23, 2020
Who did we offend in this world? embarassed embarassed embarassed we have been told that no country is buying our oil due to oil glut in the international market, we have several oil shipments out there waiting for buyers but we are celebrating buying pms from other countries. I will celebrate only if the countries we are buying refined products from, are reciprocating by buying our unsold crude oil, not otherwise. The authorities may not even quarantine all the ship crew members and no surprise why Covid-19 is still spreading across the country.
PoliticsRe: Yunusa Yellow: Bashir Ahmad Retracts His Statement, Condemns The Act by oz4real83(m): 8:30am On May 23, 2020
Story for the gods. If he claimed he wasn't aware of the case then, he must be lying because the case was the hottest back then when it happened. He changed his comment because of the media backlash. As for me, I now know the kind of personality he is. He is someone that supports and defends evil using the connections he has in high places. Such a person doesn't deserve any position of authority.

If u are the owner of where you stay and u have the money which won't be too expensive, why not fence the house. Fencing the side fences to about 10-11 block-heights will be a lot helpful.

every voting process u see in a party's primaries is only acting, it has already been done in secret and a candidate has been chosen whether direct or indirect. When everybody knows everybody's game and moves, u must be proactive just like what Obaseki is doing to counter Oshiomole group's moves.

Appreciate that little sacrifice he made, am telling you this is the first of his kind, the extortion of the masses is to the death, this kind of gesture is rare in Nigeria and should be applauded.
He has spent 5 years. Is he just realising it? Are u aware that the Cross river state's governor is a typical average Nigerian politician who does things just for the camera? Have u been to calabar? Go and ask an average calabar person about the governor and you will be weak about people's opinion about him. Many people still praise and rate Donald Duke far far ahead of him.

Out off point brother
u should have remained quiet instead of your nonsense rant. A governor is acting a film to pretend that he cares for his people. How long has he been in power? Is it now he realised that his agents are collecting money from low income people? If he stops the illegal levies, allowances and security votes and channel the illegal security votes and allowances to projects that will alleviate the suffering of the people, won't that be better?.
PoliticsRe: Governor Ayade Exempts The Poor From Taxes by oz4real83(m): 8:09am On May 22, 2020
What about security votes? Do you still collect them? All the unnecessary allowances, are they still being collected? All these need to go too ooo if u are really serious.
EducationRe: Students In Harvard University Vs Those In Uniport And Unical by oz4real83(m):
This is exactly why our educational system doesn't solve our problems or needs in Nigeria. It focuses too much on irrelevant issues. In civilised societies, people and govts look onto their education systems to solve or produce individuals that will solve general needs but we don't in Nigeria because our education system is too poor to handle our problems.

Everybody is an artisan/businessman just like the herdsmen. What is good for the Ahmed, is also good for Osas, Adewunmi, Emeka, Akpos, Akpan and others.

Privatisation, govermentisation, PDP, and APC.
Power supply in Nigeria is still wack.

State govt needs to wake up to more responsibilities. The FG has failed in power supply.
the problem is not with state governments, it is a constitutional and federal govt problem. Our constitution does not permit states to generate, transmit and distribute power. If any state should engage in power generation, the state MUST transfer the generated power to the national grid to be used by everybody. Over the years, I have expected the NASS to amend that section of the constitution but they haven't. States can only extend electricity to rural areas but can't generate, transmit or distribute. Just like in the police force, states provide logistics to police but don't have power over the NPF.
PoliticsRe: Visas Of 15 Chinese Doctors Invited To Nigeria Have Expired – Aregbesola by oz4real83(m): 7:27pm On May 19, 2020
Why we reply or comment about what Nigerian leaders do sometimes is to let them know that not all of us are stupid. Ordinarily, we would have just loved to ignore them and continue with our lives. The Chinese doctors have some Nigerian security personnel attached to them. Our govt officials know exactly where they are and what they are even doing at the moment. They receive continuous update concerning every action the Chinese doctors take. Why do our govt officials always lie and pretend to the Nigerian public?
