dallyemmy:well said. However, all this talk is meaningless if the likes of Buhari keep winning elections. We may need better leadership, but I bet that the majority of Nigerians don't want it. |
mirabel001:this is the same nonsense people were saying about MMM. It cannot crash, it cannot crash. Did the internet crash before MMM crashed? How come WhatsApp has to crash before a ponzi scheme that is unsustainable and has no financial backing can crash? Are you guys really this mentally shortsighted, or just blinded by greed? |
Which kain journalism be this? Definitely written by a fan of the EPL. That's why they went silent on the fact the Barcelona is third and instead went to imply other Spanish teams in top 50 start from Atletico in 14th. They also went silent on Bayern in 4th but chose to ramble on about EPL teams making almost half the value of the list. |
cr7lomo:aren't you the same eediot who was attacking his own logic the other day? You have been noticed. Run along now. |
petitoni:there are more important things to do with that time. Each one would carry his own load. Sweet or bitter, she'd have to carry hers. |
When you people are hitting on and flirting with each other, you do it secretly then come and make all manner of accusations on social media. Social media is not a court room, and your readers may jump to conclusions colored by the bias of their own experiences but they aren't judges. Take ya yeye matter to court and stop disturbing the world with it. |
petitoni:go back to your dream and help her na ![]() |
A man is not a handbag that can can be stolen. |
Neimar:lol. No hard feelings man. I'm just tired of seeing all that leader and captain material nonsense. One person composes crap (like the 'Messi fails to deliver when it matters most' or 'is not leader material' or 'cannot win UCL without Xavi and Iniesta') and everyone else starts spreading it as if they don't watch these games. Messi is the biggest reason we aren't going trophyless like Madrid this season. You can switch him for a shouting Kompany if you like sha ![]() As you said, your opinion. |
Neimar:abeg make person hear word. Liverpool disgraced City last season home and away in the UCL. Kompany get sore throat that period? It's football, shit happens. Doesn't change the fact that Messi leads by example. Many times this season and in the past, he has come from the bench to snatch a draw or even victories from the jaws of defeat, while teammates looked clueless. He engineered a 3 - 0 win vs Liverpool at the Camp Nou, but somehow a shouting Kompany is better because our defense went to sleep at Anfield. Take away goals by Sterling and Aguero and see if they would win any trophy. Shouting don't win trophies, goals and chances (if converted) do. If shouting makes teammates better, Dembele for don enter beast mode after all the Suarez shouting. |
Neimar:so did Kompany's shout help City reach the UCL final? What has it helped them win outside of England? Even Messi's silence has won us another La Liga and put us in another Copa del Rey final. What makes shouting a special way to win continental trophies? |
Jokerman:he steadily does his magic with Argentina. Only difference is that Argentina haven't won major titles. It takes a team to win titles, and not just one player. He's their top scorer of all time, and a huge reason they have gotten to the finals they got to. Problem is the team depends too much on Messi to do everything (create chances and score), just like Barca in this Champion's League. It's easier to beat you if you are a one man team. No one would depend on Ronaldo that much cos he doesn't even create chances. They only depend on him to score, but if he doesn't, someone else goes ahead to score and win the game. |
Jokerman:I'm not interested in your ifs. There's no guarantee Portugal wouldn't have lost if Ronaldo had played the full game. He was marked out all the time he was on, and France was by far the better side. Messi's impact? At worst, same impact as Ronaldo had in the confederations cup when they faced Chile. They even won the 3rd place game after Ronaldo left. Portugal is arguably a better team without Ronaldo on the pitch. Messi was the best player of the tournament in 2 of those 3 finals. Let that sink in. Ronaldo has never played better than everyone else in an international tournament. Last season UCL semi final and final proves my point. Ronaldo made no direct contribution whatsoever after the quarterfinal penalty against Juve. Yet Madrid went on to win the title. Let Messi have just one bad game in the UCL, Barcelona gets knocked out. Different levels, man. |
Neimar:so you'd trade Messi for Kompany? So he can score once in a blue moon and and become Captain America? Wasn't Kompany there when Spurs knocked out City? Didn't Messi win his own league? What makes City and Kompany special now? I no understand some of una o. When we had Puyol as captain, we still lost to Madrid a lot before Pep showed up. With Xavi as captain, Bayern embarrassed us over 2 legs in 2013. With Iniesta as captain, we still fell to Atletico and Juve in consecutive years. If we need to win a game, Messi is the one everyone else looks up to, and he doesn't just tug on his captain band and look good for the camera. He creates chances and scores goals! What is Kompany doing in the same sentence as Messi? ![]() |
Jokerman:go and watch their asssists on YouTube. Many of Messi's assists are breathtaking. And those are simply the ones teammates score. If you watch Ronaldo and Messi often, you wouldn't even be making these comparisons anymore. There's only one individual criteria in which Ronaldo isn't completely blown away - goal scoring (and Messi is still better), so you guys try to drag in trophies (which is a team achievement). When you realize Messi still has more total trophies, you quickly center on UCL and Euro, and try to pass off La Liga as too easy ![]() In the end, it is a crap claim that Ronaldo wins trophies with average teams. |
Jokerman:creative Messi, two golden balls in senior international football (one in a world cup tournament!) without needing to win the trophy. Win or lose, he's always the best in his team. The other dude disappears when he doesn't have the chance to score. Many times, his team doesn't even miss his contributions (or even presence on the pitch) and go on to win anyway. |
tesppidd:City would win the EPL. |
tesppidd:as in eh! I don't understand the motivate nonsense I've been hearing from people. Professional footballers earning big money weekly need their teammate to motive them to score the chances he creates for them. |
Codes151:no, they went one step higher than Juve could - the semis. Why change the topic though? I thought you guys say Ronaldo would succeed in an average/poor team and singlehandedly win trophies, while Messi needs a good team. Why didn't Ronaldo stand alone to do the undoable? 9 years in Spain, just two league wins. |
Jokerman:he had 9 years to do that while players like Di Maria and Ozil left after only a few years. It is possible due to the simple fact that the assist is awarded to the player that makes last pass, and not necessarily the one who creates the chance. Which means if Modric makes a defense-splitting pass to Ronaldo and while 2-on-1 against the keeper, Ronaldo makes a simple pass to Benzema who scores, Ronaldo and not Modric would be awarded the assist. Having an assist doesn't necessarily make you creative. It means you touched the ball last before the your teammate scored. Even a rebound is awarded as an assist, if a teammate scores it. As an example, Juve beat Napoli 3 - 1 this season, and Ronaldo grabbed 3 assists. Guess what, 2 of them were rebounds from Ronaldo's shots at goal. Only the first was a cross. There's nothing creative about a rebound. Only means you tried to score and failed but your teammate didn't. |
Codes151:yeah, that's why Juve crashed out to Atalanta in their Italian Cup and then to Ajax in the quarterfinals of the UCL. |
It's easier to decide a game in only two actions when all you do is lurk around the opposition's 18 yard box waiting for crosses and passes you can tap in. Messi does way more in a match. Whether he scores or not, wins or loses, he's always orchestrating, creating chances with unbelievable defense splitting passes, taking on your defenders. And no, Ronaldo does not win games on his own. Never has. He needs teammates who can give him good crosses, pin point passes in the 18 yard box and win him penalties. That's the reason he was silent in the first leg against Atletico and didn't even reach the semis - the Juve team isn't as creative as Madrid was. |
$130 billion? These people know wetin be 130 billion dollars? ![]() |
Nigerians typically lack foresight, especially the ones in power. We prefer to live in the past and present, without second thoughts to the future. No wahala, na all of us dey the country together. |
sexiestharam:top quality hypocrisy hardly found anywhere else in the world ![]() |
Afobear:which part of the post is a lie? Your ignorant self probably thinks Neymar left in 2015. |
Isomerizm:abeg eee! Wasn't Neymar there when we got knocked out by Atletico in 2016 and the next year by Juve? You guys should quit this overhype. It doesn't take extra skills to take a shot when you have a chance, instead of passing it. I guess Neymar has motivated PSG to the UCL final since joining. |
erons22:as it stands now, extra time and penalty shootouts cannot happen again. |
Sanchez01:rubbish. Ronaldo was in a world class Madrid team when Dortmund thrashed them 4 - 1 to dump them out of the UCL. He also did nothing when Barca dumped them out. Or when Juve knocked them out in 2015. His Juve team (undisputed kings of Italy for 8 years now) also got dumped out this season in the UCL even after he claimed he was signed to win the UCL for Juve. This is after getting battered by Atalanta to knock them out of their league cup. The only reason Madrid won the UCL multiple times was cos they had very creative players (all Ronaldo needed to do was get in to scoring position for a header or tap-in), and when Ronaldo had bad games (like the semis and final last season), his teammates stood up and won the games regardless. |
Suarez should not even be talking. He's been hiding behind Messi's performances for 2 years in a row now. Everyone in that team played rubbish, and Messi's squandered chance could have made a difference. |
ClintonNzedimma:yeah, dude is good. I like what he has done with the Ajax team. |
Tundexxy:Cristiano does not attempt a dribble anywhere he can shoot from. Dude doesn't joke with his tap ins. Any Liverpool player would have buried that chance. Their goals were from less clear-cut chances. To think that's all Barca needed, that one away goal. |
