Politics / Re: Al-mustapha Welcomes Bode George To Kirikiri Prison by palmwine(m): 4:08pm On Oct 28, 2009
tarano:

''When the Gavel Falls'' Naa jail be that, no complaint, do the crime serve the time, these are the tips for Uncle George

The following are guidelines for getting along in jail:

- Watch and listen for quite a while, to get a sense of the other people you’ll be living with. On the other hand, the first ones who come up and want to make friends with you may be predators, losers, or snitches (Al Mustapha).

- Don’t be in a big hurry to join a group, because you’ll be taking on their baggage. Just take it easy and be pleasant with everyone, without striving to find buddies right away. Take the time to let friendships develop gradually, the way they do naturally at work, school, or the gym.

- Respect others, but behave with self-respect, too. Acting scared invites bullying. And if you don’t stand up for yourself, potential allies won’t think it‘s worth the risk to stand by you.

- Be very careful not to touch people by accident. If you do bump into anyone, immediately say “Excuse me.” If your apology isn’t accepted, don’t argue, but just walk away (and keep an eye on that person for future problems).

- Don’t touch other people’s stuff (books, pencils, etc.) or sit on other people’s beds, without asking.

- Rather than just joining a conversation, wait until someone asks your opinion. However bad your situation is, be careful not to sound like you’re whining.

- In the eating area, don’t reach across other people’s trays. If you have to cough or sneeze, turn away and cover your mouth.

- Before using the telephone or changing channels on the TV, make sure you check with other prisoners to see what system they’ve set up for taking turns—it’s easy to offend others by accident, if you don’t find out the “local rules.”

- Don’t borrow money, don’t gamble, don’t do drugs, and don’t accept gifts from strangers. All these things can put you in debt, which could affect your safety.

- Don’t snitch. Snitches are not just unpopular—they’re unsafe. Don’t even refer to other prisoners when talking with correctional officers, because people will think you’re snitching or at least being manipulated by the officers.

The most important one, Don't drop the soap!!

Bros u don go jail b4? grin

Problem is, politicians in Nigeria and other citizens are usually on different pages. Did you listen to the President's independent day broadcast? Did you hear all the growth figures he was quoting?

Politics / Re: Uproar As Senate Cuts Education, Health Budgets To Fund N25 Billion Abuja Road by palmwine(m): 4:19pm On Jul 13, 2009
his the way the National assembly works. Every body speaks against it nd when its time for a voice vote, they all say "YEh"

I think its time we know how each senator votes, understand there vote patterns etc. we cannot get this by using voice votes. Do what Ken Nnamani did. each and every senator should be made to speak out individually.

And not the usual " If you want road construction say Yeah and if against say Nah" It is ridiculous.

"FOR Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, the state should score many firsts before 2011 when his tenure expires.

Besides a good number of roads networks, rehabilitation of others, bridges and drainage systems, Lagos should be digitally mapped and provide geographical information systems to create ready access to every part of the state."

Politics / Re: Presidential Debate In Iran? Why Not In Nigeria? by palmwine(m): 11:55am On Jun 04, 2009
AjaraEwuro:

There had always been presidential debates in Nigeria - I remember Abiola and Tofa in 1993 elections - have many people forgotten this?

The law that guided that election has been superseded by the current electoral law. In the new law you don't have to debate to get to an office.

Even if you are willing to, how many candidate do you want to debate with. Considering the number of candidates for say the office of the president.
Politics / Re: Presidential Debate In Iran? Why Not In Nigeria? by palmwine(m): 11:52am On Jun 04, 2009
Again the way the opposition goes about a debate would turn off most people.

When u hear a man say I challenge you to a debate on national TV as if its a duel.

Think its time we all learn to carry ourselves well and Diplomacy, the right choice of words should be the hallmark of a statesman, not beating war drums.
Politics / Re: Presidential Debate In Iran? Why Not In Nigeria? by palmwine(m): 11:49am On Jun 04, 2009
It shud be made a requisite in the electoral law.

In the US its stipulated and the no of such debate is stated.

The last time OBJ was invited he did not honour it cos its not compulsory.

MY ADVICE TO YAR'ADUA

standing close enough to him, you can hear the ocean. I'm sure you no that there is no vaccine against stupidity. as you can see all the advice given to YOU by nairalanders. If i were you i would help my self by resigning. Also I heard you got a brain transplant and the brain rejected you. I'd like to leave you with one thought, but I'm not sure you have anywhere to put it. I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't seem to get my head that far up my ass.
for your own good give up this field and just concentrate on your health because right now you are the kind of person they could use as a blueprint to build an idiot.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with you or you're stupid; you're just  possessed by a retarded ghost.

The above comment is in bad taste. You were not asked to abuse the president and besides you don't address the president of a nation the way you just did.

I'm sure you will not be better off if you were the president. the above post will leave a very sour taste in the mouth of any decent person. angry

Politics / Cameroun Supplies Nigeria Electricity -nyako by palmwine(m): 8:40am On May 22, 2009
I can't believe this! shocked. Hear Niger state Governor.

As the Federal Government grapples with the problem of electricity in the country, the Republic of Cameroun is currently supplying electricity to some parts of Nigeria.

The Adamawa State governor, Alhaji Murtala Nyako, said this in Abuja at the mid-term anniversary of the establishment of the technical cooperation fund being managed by the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA).

Nyako, who stressed the importance of maintaining security with the Camerounian government, added that through the cooperation, Cameroun had been able to supply electricity to his state.

dats why i pointed it out
he's comparing slowest connection in UK/US to the fastest connection in nigeria.

You said it all. Let met just add that telecom infrastructures are already in place in the developed world. In Nigeria you will have to pay area boys at every road junction when you want to lay your fiber optic cables, not to talk of mounting a microwave point to point radio etc. This is of course after paying the various local govt and state govt for various permits.

I just laugh when Nigerian compares Broadband service in Nigeria to UK.

How come no one is comparing PHCN service to the one provided in the UK? I guess we are all now use to it. undecided
