Think we must learn to appreciate ourself 1st. Read what our own dailys write about Naija. With Planned negative propaganda from CNN et al. We should begin to do damage control. There are things the news will not say about America just in their own intrest.

Nigeria/Nigerains are not dat bad. Atleast we don't lock up our own daughter and father her children!!

Politics / Iwendi: Police Introduce Compulsory Medical Check For Officers by palmwine(m): 6:56am On May 07, 2008
“Henceforth, ACPs, Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Commissioners of Police (CPs), Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs) and Deputy Inspectors-General (DIGs) must go for annual medical check up abroad to certify their health status,’’ Okiro said.

Okiro, however, said “the force will not pay for it (check up) but it is compulsory.” He said he was optimistic that all DCs and above could afford to travel out side the country for medical check up.

Must our police men go abroad for medical check up.? Why do people in "high" places drag the name of this country in the mud? Worst of it all. the officers must pay with thier own money. Why force me to go abroad if you will not bear the bills.
Leaders in Nigeria don't thinK Imagine an IG telling his officers where and how to spend there "hard" lipsrsealed earned money.

Nigeria! Nigeria! Nigeria!

And if they ask you tell them someone else filled the form for you. Isn't that what our politians says grin

Bellview crashed 3 minutes from the airport in portharcourt, a few years back and a Whole minister of aviation got on a plane and headed to Oshogbo to look for the plane. Why? the control tower was not manned and no device to pin poit airdrafts location.

Even common sense was missing, as any right thinking minister will know that know plane will be in oshogbo 3 mins after take off. ineptitude!!!!!!!! sad

A retired airforce officer was saying on AIT that Nigeria only has one functional Radar in Lagos not even sure the one in Abuja is working. It has nothing to do with cultism. There are so many blind spot in the Nigeria air space and the fund for total radar coverage has been "misappropriate". Saying is cultism is ignorance, air crafts are supposed to carry emmergency beep device that send out a beep for the satellite to pick up during a crash, it can even be received by Spain or canada but this is usually not on the airlines in this country. Our leaders keeps telling us lies. Now they are jumping from pillar to post looking for airplane as if its a needle.

Politics / Can A Nigerian Politician Do This? by palmwine(m): 5:33pm On Mar 12, 2008
NEW YORK - Gov. Eliot Spitzer announced Wednesday that he is resigning, completing a spectacular fall from power for a politician whose once-promising career imploded amid allegations that he paid thousands of dollars for high-end prostitutes.

"I look at my time as governor with a sense of what might have been," Spitzer said, with his expressionless wife Silda standing at his side. "There is much more to be done, and I cannot allow my private failings to disrupt the people's work."
Spitzer says his resignation is effective Monday. He will be replaced by Lt. Gov. David Paterson, who will become New York's first black governor.
The scandal erupted two days ago when allegations surfaced that the 48-year-old Spitzer spent thousands of dollars on a call girl at a swanky Washington hotel on the night before Valentine's Day.

MY Question; can a Nigerian Politician do this? When OBJ held onto BOT chairmanship after he don shine pikin wife congo? sorry allege to have done that.

Politics / Re: I’m Ready To Die For Yar’adua – Okiro by palmwine(m): 6:35am On Mar 05, 2008
Nigeria!!! we never learn. Some people said they would die if Abacha did not transform to a civilian president same for Obasanjo, some politician also said he is the only one to rule this coountry. We have a wierd way of stating our loyalty in this country. Just wondered if okiro would have resigned if Yar'adua's election was annulled. Of course Not.

Politics / Prepare For Blackout For 30 Days by palmwine(m): 1:43am On Feb 29, 2008
RESIDENTS of Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti and Lagos states will have to do without electricity from the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) for 30 days due to the vandalism of electricity transmission lines supplying power to the states.

The Minister of State for Power, Mrs. Balaraba Ibrahim, who said this on Thursday in Abuja, disclosed that unknown vandals had on Sunday, February 17, cut down with a saw, 330kv Tower No. 395 off Oko Baba near Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Also on February 27 at 1.02 a.m., the minister said vandals fell another 330kv Tower on Ikeja West –Aiyede Transmission Line. This is Tower No 507 close to Temperance Farms Ota.

The minister, who briefed newsmen on the spate of vandalism of electricity transmission lines in the area, said the effect of these would be blackouts in the six states.

The blackout, according to her, would last one month because “reconstruction could take about one month to complete.”

The minister, while emphasising the resolve of the government to trace the vandals, said that anyone that could come up with useful information leading to the arrest of the particular vandals would be rewarded with N1 million.

To reconstruct the fallen tower and beefing up the security, she said that over N20 million would be needed which would exclude loss of revenue to the PHCN, while the line would be out of service.

On the mode of operations of the vandals, the minister explained that nothing was removed from the tower or the adjoining line sections which, according to her, was a clear act of sabotage and not ordinary vandalism.

According to her, “acts of vandalism and sabotage are retrogressive in our efforts at nation building.

Million of naira that would have been used in expanding the grid network is now being used to reconstruct vandalised tower lines.

“They also bring unquantifiable and unimaginable inconveniencies and socio-economic losses to the affected people,” she said.

According to her, electric grid system of any nation was its backbone for socio-economic development, adding that when such act was perpetrated, it called for a national rethink and prompt collective action to speedily reverse the trend.

2 Questions
1. Where are the security personels, one don't cut down a tower in 30Sec.
2. I hope PHCN will not distribute any bill for this period.

Politics / Re: Presidential Election Tribunal Upholds Yar'adua's Election by palmwine(m): 10:27pm On Feb 26, 2008
I Feel justice was served. the opposition were not able to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt. The core of their aguement was fundamentally flawed. if you talk about rigging show me a politician who did not rig?

PDP may not be the darling of all, but Yar'Adua is fresh, Buhari has been there Atiku Well he was there with one leg in. I only hope yar Adua will have the courage to leave when his tenure is over and not try to amend the constitution like our "friend" abi na enemy once attempted to.

@nigeria1

Well the Yoruba may not be as united as you claim, Ilorin says they are not Yorubas or are you trying to force them into it? I Live there. There Governor is chairman of the Northen Governors forum. The Elder Saraki is chairman of Northen consultative one thing, and they are ruled by an Emir who says thety are Fulanis.

unity in Nigeria will help alot more than Spliting. Thats all I have said. And you are yet to show ant great nation among those fragmented "New Nations" One or two examples should convince us grin
Politics / Re: Nigerians To Pay More For Electricity by palmwine(m): 12:44am On Feb 24, 2008
"In the same way electricity continues to defy all figures and promises thrown at it. The country gropes in darkness, leaving everyone to fend power for himself. The amount and capacity of private generators in Nigeria can power all of West Africa power needs. Virtually every urban home has a generator, not to talk of offices and industries. The cost—in real money and in environmental pollution – is astronomical. Yet promises and more promises unfulfilled. Powerful interests are involved." - Tunde Fagbenle

If we create this yoruba repulic, who those likely to be president, senators, governors etc, well i can asure you that the likes of Adedibu, Obasanjo et al. will most likely head or hand pick poeple into this position.

Our problem in Nigeria is not in numencleature. The issue is corruption and vissionless leadership.

remember we use to thinkl that independence will solve all our problems. DID IT?
