PropertiesRe: How To Identify A Fraudulent Set-up In Property acquisition In Nigeria by PapaBrowne(m): 2:55pm On Sep 15, 2013
While I dont totally disagree with this write-up, I think it doesn't do justice to starters who are really working hard to try get a good sale. They might not exactly be professional and have a long list of properties, but they might have the integrity that would take them to the next level.

Imagine this scenarion of someone who had a good real estate plan. He went to a community and bargained to help them sell out their land. He developed a residential master-plan, did all the surveying, got all the consents and approvals, printed out brochures and started to start selling off plan. He wasn't deceptive at all. Infact, he let his clients know exactly what he was doing. But he wasn't getting any plots sold. Six months and not a single plot sold. So he was advised to go get a virtual office in VI. Build a great website, act like a big company with all the swag to boot. He did just that and in one month had sold off 50 plots.

Now imagine he was a scammer and followed the same formula. Or better still, imagine a scammer suddenly decides to apply the rules you have presented. My take is that detecting fraud is best done by asking realistic and hard fast questions. Get warm but be skeptical until you clear all reasonable and unreasonble doubt.

Nice article though.
PoliticsRe: 2015: Jonathan May Convene Sovereign National Conference by PapaBrowne(m): 2:12pm On Sep 15, 2013
Gbawe: This is the bottom line. More self-serving antics from a desperate President.
ilugunboy: Because I know GEJ want to play the usual desperate politics that have come to define his desperation towards 2015.

Why is he now contemplating on the idea....the same idea he once totally rubbished at a meeting with some Southerners. undecided
Suddenly, the grand proponents of SNC are shying away from it. Hypocrisy is a disease.
Wouldn't this be a great opportunity to state your cause. Shouldn't you be looking to take advantage of this SNC you have always craved for.

Its here right now for you to grab, but no you suddenly don't want it anymore. Hypocrisy.

They said Abiola must be immortalised. They screamed and shouted. Then UNILAG was renamed after Abiola and they said never ever.
They said Jonathan is not tough on Boko Haram. He got tough and declared state of Emergency, they said it is political and genocidal.
They said Lagos Ibadan expressway concession should be revoked. It was revoked and reawarded to Julius Berger, they said no no no.
They have screamed about Sovereign national conference since I was in Primary School, then Jonathan shows interest and they say no they dont want it anymore.

What kind of people are these?? This pathetic hatred is consuming basis senses out of your brains. Once again, shouldn't you at least seek to hijack and take advantage of the Sovereign National Conference that is about to be declared. Why are you suddenly scared? Or are you suddenly realizing that you are aligned with the North and the South South and the South East are super united as never before hence and SNC would not exactly pan out as you always wanted it? Seriously, be ashamed and very very ashamed of yourselves, the two of you.

About Abiola, June 12 2013 marked exactly 20 years since that monumental election was annulled. It passed like it never happened without any memorable celebration. The reason was simple. The hypocrisy of the cries about June 12 had been exposed with the rejection of Abiola in 2012. It was a historic rejection by folks who had used Abiola for 19 years to express thier natural opposition to anything that doesn't originate from them. By them, I don't refer to an entire tribe as most of the people of the south west are some of the most admirable people on the face of the planet. I refer to the loudmouthed tribalistic ones who usually run their mouths with a mountainous mix of ignorance and hypocrisy and many of them exist here on Nairaland.
FamilyRe: How To Handle Problems Over Relatives Staying In Your House ? by PapaBrowne(m): 1:10pm On Sep 14, 2013
Uyi Iredia: Okay. After reading this in addition to Chillisauce's I see no reason why we won't continue to have people type in attimes illegible shorthand or make no attempt to write properly. There's incentive against it as implied by some comments here.
Don't mind those comments. Once your topic hits frontpage, you'll get this kind of talk from impatient people. Your write-up was very legible and easy to understand.

My take:
I have learnt long ago to trust women especially my sisters and mum in issues like this. They have a supernatural ability to discern. We guys usually cant read between the lines. She might have appeared a little overbearing but trust me, her stand is grounded in some wisdom.

If the only way you could get your cousin out of your house was kinda with the police, then you should not be entertaining any of his close associates in your house even if for a night.
The world is wicked. And considering you three are alone with your Dad not too strong, you should even be more wary of especially relatives who care less about you guys enough to sell a property that belonged to all of you.

I don't know what caused the rift between you guys and your cousin, but seeing that you needed the police to get him out of your house, please don't let he or his friends in either. Without wanting to accuse anyone falsely, what if all they are interested in is the value of the property you currently reside and all they want is to lay hands on the documents and the job is now on the friend. Some people can be that wicked, so be careful. You should kinda listen to your sister in such situations. Remember the phrase" Wise as serpents, harmless as doves".

And by the way, I'm Edo with the same first name as you and just like you, my cousins sold property that belongs to all of us. Anytime they come visiting I have a cheap hotel I put them. Never in my house not because I am mean, but because the world is wicked and I'm not exactly sure why they come around. So for peace to reign, I put them up in a hotel not too far from my house.

Why are Lagosians always so freaked when street lights come on? Its ok though, I beleive any good work must be praised.

Almost all of Warri has been lighted since 2007/8 and the lights are almost always on since they dont solely depend on NEPA but also run on generators. Uyo, Calabar, Port Harcourt and many other south south cities have been used to city wide street lighting for more than half a decade now.

The picture is Ikorodu road. Pretty false use of imagery there. It discredits the whole article.

The Jonathan Generation!!

All young Nigerians who are seeing massive transformation and taking advantage of the opportunities created by the policies of this administration.

We are entrepreneurs. We are Agriculturists. We are Creative Artists. We are manufacturers. We are in our thousands and growing by the day and soon would be in millions. We are everywhere both home and diaspora. We are the Jonathan Generation.

We are benefiting immensely from the policies of this administration. And we are waiting for the big break. . . the power sector privatization!!...we can't wait to unleash the potential that this country possesses.

We are starting companies left, right and center. We are scooping up lands for Agriculture. We are importing machines for manufacturing. We creating innovative companies. We think, we collaborate, we create. Thats who we are. The Jonathan Generation!! grin grin grin grin grin grin

Now haters can start hating while we be reaping!!!
PoliticsRe: Pictures Of Borno & Yobe From A JTF Nairalander. by PapaBrowne(m): 2:24pm On Sep 10, 2013
Wow. Very informative.

I have said it and I keep repeating it, the Civilian JTF is a world class example of how to fight terror. The Americans fought in Iraq and are still fighting in Afghanistan without much success despite spending over 1 trillion dollars. Nigerian military strategists have a lot to teach the west on how to deal with terror. In less than half a year of intense operations, the success rate is already pretty good. With Shekau dead and very few bomb blasts, hopefully these would signal the end of the sect.

A big shout out to all the daring soildiers that have opted to sacrifice their lives that we may have peace.
A big shout out to the civilian JTF for taking thier destinies into thier hands and showing braveness in the face of terror.
A big shout out to the military generals & intelligence officers that planned the strategies.
A big Shout out to the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
A big shout out to 13volts for the excellent pictures, analysis, the desire to share and inform as well as for been where others feared to thread.

PoliticsRe: GEJ Was Only Joking When He Said He Won't Run In 2015 - Abati by PapaBrowne(m): 7:24pm On Sep 09, 2013
But seriously, since Jonathan's enemies believe he doesn't deserve a second term, shouldn't they be happy if he contests since that should automatically give them the opportunity to boot him out of office with their votes. But no, they know they are not in the majority so they want to force him out before elections since in a free and fair election, he would trounce any of the current contenders.

Imagine West Brom or Hull City or some near relegation club claiming to be a much stronger team than say Chelsea or Manchester United and yet telling those teams not to play in a forth coming match so they can claim 3 points without a fight. If you are stronger as you claim, you should happily go to the pitch with your opponent.

Or Imagine PDP telling Amosun not to contest the next elections since they believe he isn't performing. Why not go and meet him in the polls.

Its just pathetic how much cowardice these nitwits express. How can you tell a full grown man not to exercise his inalienable constitutional rights. Absolutely pathetic. Do they not realize they offend the sensibilities of 22 million Nigerians that voted him when they make all this noise.
PoliticsRe: Name One Sector President Jonathan Is Doing A Very Good Job by PapaBrowne(m): 6:01pm On Sep 09, 2013
ssii: What wonderful promises. I mean did GEJ actually promise all that . This man sure takes Nigerians for fools. How on earth would he have fulfilled those promises within 4yrs.
Yet people are nl everyday singing his praises.
@Yamamoto, pls you need to post these promises on every thread where GEJ 's e-warriors are celebrating him.
Lets take the promises one by one. I'll take only the first 5 for lack of time. Gat more important stuff to do.
1) You Prmoised to rule for only one term (reference http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-12339017)
As a man of your words or rather as you want to make us believe, PLEASE stick to this plan and pledge.
I sincerly hope we will not have political jobbers, groups like Youths Earnestly Ask for Jona, Dbanj, Lagbaja, Sunny Ade all singing for your second term bid? I sincerly hope also, you will not come out and openly deny you didnt make such promise or statements as you did about the zoning saga.
Please provide a video where this promise was made. I remember Jonathan saying there is no need to talk about 2015 when he hasn't even won 2011 elections. If you can post one article where Jonathan was quoted verbatim saying he will not contest, I will become a Buhari Campaigner.
Asides, why is anybody afraid of him contesting. Since you feel he hasn't done well enough and therefore isn't popular, why not encourage him to contest so that your chosen candidate can thrash him at the polls. Apparently, the only reason you and your likes are afraid of him contesting is because you know he is very popular amongst the masses and would have a landslide if he contests.

2. You promised a consitutional role for Traditional Rulers!!! I am short of words but Nigerians are waiting
This kind one no concern Jonathan. Go and talk to David Mark or Tambuwal about this or better still your senator or House of Repper. I think they have something like that in the constitutional review. But Does anybody really want this? I don't think so.

3. On March 17th 2011, in Dutse the Jigawa statte capital, you promised:"If I win the election, within my four years in office, I will establish domestic airports in all the states without airports, WE ARE WAITING.
He didn't just to this. He did ten times better than this. Renovating all our 22 Airports at a go. Building 12 Cargo Airports at a go. And building 5 new international terminals at a go. In the aviation sector he has done in 2 years what 5 leaders combined couldn't do in 40 years. This is one remarkable success that nobody can argue against. For the past 15 years I've been a regular traveler through both our international and domestic terminals and I have seen in 2 years remarkable transformation. I cant wait for the new terminals.

4. In Nasarawa, at the flagoff of your campaign you promised at least a university in every state including building specialist almajiri schools to shore up education in the North so as to eradicate illiteracy. The Almajiris are waiting o!
I wont say a word. I will let pictures do the speaking. As I speak, 124 of such schools have been built.

5. On February 8th in Ibadan, the day you called some people "rascals", you promised to create jobs and improve the power sector. The OYO people and indeed all Nigerians are waiting!!!
This is one of Jonathan's most outstanding success areas. The Power sector has been handed over to the private sector. The transformation has begun. Everybody knows what is about to happen. We privatized telecoms and say phone lines grow from 400,000 to 120 million in 10 years. The power sector is about to witness the same. And the interesting thing is that even without power there is already an explosive economic growth, imagine what next year is going to be like with improved power.
Jobs creation is happening as this government has operated the most favorable private sector driven economy Nigeria has ever known. All you need do is ask Dangote or other manufacturers or business people. I'm one and I know the kind of growth I've seen.

I am itching to talk about Agriculture. Rice importation has dropped by 50% and would be phased out in 2015. Cassava exports have grown by over 400%. I cant continue, because of time. Got work to do. On Agriculture, I can speak for hours about the transformation. Just go to the business section of Nairaland and see the new Agribusiness awakening that is happening amongst the youths.

A revolution is taking place already as a result of the excellent policies of this government and only those with an eye for opportunity would reap the benefits. Pessimists would remain in the gutter. Optimists would take advantage. Planes going to Nigeria are filled with Asian, Americans, Australians and Europeans. They see the transformation and are coming in droves. And the growth has just begun.
PoliticsRe: Name One Sector President Jonathan Is Doing A Very Good Job by PapaBrowne(m): 3:00pm On Sep 09, 2013
At the time of this post, there probably wasnt too much to show as the dividends hadnt started materialising.

But today, so many sectors to talk about from Aviation to Agriculture to Roads to Rails to Power to Job Creation and the list is just endless.
Companies are moving back to Nigeria from Ghana and choosing us above the rest of Africa. FDI of 8 Billion dollars last year.
This year is even much bigger with GE and a host of others joining the league.
Completion of power sector privatization. Dangote's refinery. Fertilzer plants worth $6 billion.
The list is just endless.
And we are beginning to experience critical mass. That means steam is generating. Imagine what next year would be like when the power companies start investing massively in the sector and the 10 NIPPs come on stream. And all the roads under construction get completed.

PoliticsRe: Why Nigerians Must Vote Out Jonathan In 2015 –fani-kayode by PapaBrowne(m):
I have only one question for this man who is turning out to be a huge joke:
https://dvsl3w2q45hb8.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/lagos_Fani.jpg
When you were minister of Aviation, did you change a single light bulb or a single toilet flush knob in any of our airports? Did you paint a single hall or change a single leaking roof in just one of our 22 airports?
Did you create a single policy or implement a single draft that sat on your table concerning the aviation industry. All I remember you did was to close down Port Harcourt Airport and you didnt buy a single nail for its renovation
And can you explain to us what happened to that 19 Billion that went missing? FYI that money could have built a brand new terminal for MMA or could have been put to better use in other sectors. It could have given grants of 10 million Naira each to 19,000 entreprenuers who would have founded wonderful companies that would have created jobs for hundreds of thousands of Nigerians. But no, only you wanted all that money. I'm sure its finished now and you are looking for more hence your recent writeups.

Well let me just remind you that we now have an Aviation Minister we deserve. Its a woman and she belongs from a tribe you loathe so much. In barely 2 years she has renovated and in some cases reconstructed 11 Airports and is on the verge of renovating 11 more. She has even gone ahead to initiate the construction of 5 new International terminals as well as a good number of cargo terminals. She is a success by any count. We love her works.
I wonder how you feel when you fly through our airports and see the works she is executing. I wonder what goes through your mind when you see how you failed Nigerians. You lost your opportunity Mr Fani Kayode. And please the only thing we want to hear from you is when you are returning our 19 billion Naira.
PoliticsRe: ATTENTION!!! A Question For Sincere 9gerian And PDP Faithfuls by PapaBrowne(m): 2:03am On Sep 04, 2013
I voted Jonathan in 2011 and Oshiomole in 2012. What does that make me? PDP or ACN?
I will never vote PDP in Edo state elections, and I will never vote APC in Nigerian elections. What does that make me?
I will vote Fashola anyday over Uduaghan. What does that make me?
I am a Nigerian with no party affiliations. I am wise enough to know that parties are platforms that accommodate the good the bad and the ugly. APC is loud-mouthed gang of losers, PDP is a pot-bellied gang of crooks.
I won't be decieved by all the noise making. So I choose individuals over parties.

I support Jonathan for the impact he is making in our economy.
I support Jonathan because I don't want a man like Buhari to occupy Aso Rock.
I support Jonathan because I regularly use our airports and I know how they looked before he came and how they look 2day.
I support Jonathan because I regularly travel our highways and I have seen massive improvement in just 2 years.
I support Jonathan because I have seen the greatest transformation our power sector has witnessed since I was born.
I support Jonathan because I have always dreamt of an Agricultural renaissance and I see it finally taking place.
I support Jonathan because he has immensely improved our trust in democracy via free and fair elections.
I support Jonathan because Nigerian is beginning to have some good respect in the comity of nations.
I support Jonathan because my best friend submitted a biz plan and got a government grant to execute her project(YOUWIN)
I Support Jonathan because anytime I travel out for conferences, I hear resounding stories of Nigeria's economic growth.

The list is still growing and I will keep supporting Jonathan for many similar reasons like these!

I cannot be bothered about the politics of politicians. They can fight themselves all I care. They can break maces on their heads and use thugs to kill themselves, none of my business. What I care about is the development of this country. The development that would see more hospitals, more roads and more jobs been created. The development that would bring about stable power. The development that would grow our economy. That's my interest.

NB
One small confession.
In all my pontification, I forgot to mention that one of the reasons I will keep supporting Jonathan is that I don't want to see a Core Northerner in Aso Rock anytime soon. That born to rule mentality must be beaten, pounded and broken before they are given the freedom to aspire for Aso Rock.
PoliticsRe: 22 Senators Back Baraje-led PDP Faction by PapaBrowne(m):

Just one word:

As they were beaten in a landslide in 2011, so shall they be shattered again in 2015

To make a fair analysis, this move stands more to benefit Jonathan.
First, it removes all the impediments to becoming the PDP presidential candidate.
Secondly, it splits the number of strong parties to three. A single opposition is always stronger than multiple opposition.
Thirdly, if both APC and this new group poresent 2 northeneres(Atiku & Buhari), Jonathan simply costs to victory.

Its really a win for Jonathan except this group metamorphorses and merges with APC. That can then pose a slight threat.

Under this clueless President, industries are moving back to Nigeria in Droves.
Under Clueless Jonathan, Agriculture is suddenly experience a massive boom.
Under this clueless GEJ, the trains are experiencing a renaissance.
With all the cluelessness going on, we get to see a complete revamping of 22 airports and building 5 new brand new airports as well as the privatisation of the power sector.

The contract should be revoked ASAP!.....at least a few millions could be saved from that end.

It's now looking like the 2013 budgeted figures for projected crude sales and price was a tad optimistic![/quote]Its quite interesting. Tompolo's contract ended last year. As soon as the contract ended, the theft sky rocketed.
Now its difficult to say whether the end of Tompolo's contract is responsible for the increase or the initiation of the contract in the first place is responsible.
My take though is that various factors are responsible one of which is the effective conspiration of players inclusive of the International oil company staff, Militants, the Military and Government personnel alongside very influential politicians. And also foreign buyers of the stolen product.

PoliticsRe: Press Release On Boko-Haram By US Dept Of State by PapaBrowne(m):
This is nonsense!
The US has no business making these kinds of comments when it has it's hands dirty in virtually every resource rich country in the world. They should go and deal with their issues in Syria and ask thier rebels to stop using nerve gas on humans before speaking of Nigeria.

What kind of press release is this. If you read between the lines, you will discover that they are more concerned about the civilian JTF than about Boko Haram. Condemning the killings by Boko Haram is alright if you release press statements everytime there is a bomb blast and not only when you feel there is extra judicial execution by either the military or civilian JTF.

I am never in support of extra judicial killings because many innocent people would be falsely accused and two because life is precious and any act that seeks to negate that principle always comes back to hunt society.
Now that notwithstanding, the Boko Haram sect deserves nothing less than to hasten up and go to paradise to receive their reward in the deepest place of hell where 72 demon virgins would be waiting with hot iron rods to defile their shithole. They don't deserve to reside on planet earth.

These Americans should back off except they want to support with technology and resources. We don't need all these kinds of press statements that tacitly seek to equate the actions of the military with that of the insurgents. Boko Harm has been greatly decapitated largely on the back of the Civilian JTF, not because of the killings of Boko Harm members but because the minds of the youths have been turned against the Boko Haram. Terrorism is an ideological war and if you can win the minds of the locals, you've won the battle. That is something the Americans have failed to do in their 13 years of war on terror.
PoliticsRe: Pictures of first international flight from Enugu. by PapaBrowne(m): 4:35pm On Aug 25, 2013
Symphony007: and you think thailand became among the most visited capital cities by using primitive airports like us. Listen kiddo, in 2006, thailand closed the don mueang international airport and built the suvarnabhumi international airport which stands today and has made travelling in thailand very pleasurable thereby increasing passangers. How pleasurable it is to travel via MMA or any other nigerian airport? Ever heard how britsih airways and some other airlines and diverting nigerian passangers to ghana for take off? That speaks volumes.
And that is why beyond just renovating existing terminals, five new world class terminals are being built. That should make travelling in Nigeria very pleasurable. It is because it isnt pleasurable to travel through MMA that they have opted to build a brand new terminal.

Do you read your write-ups at all?? All I see is sadism. You keep going on and on about building a presentable airport and yet you forget that not only has this government undertaken to renovate the 22 airports we have, it is also building 5 new terminals and all of these are to be doen in the space of Four years of an administration. Is it lost on you that in the last 50 years, our aviation industry hasn't smelt a thing like this. Ever asked yourself why not a single toilet was renovated throughout the 8 years of Obasanjo(Well he brought MM2 to life). Its lost on you that the Fani Kayode that is all over the place now was once an aviation minister and didn't as little as buy a single bag of cement or bucket of paint for anything like a renovation in the sector. rman: Most People in SW migrate to Lagos. This may have a significant effect why the local travel is low. A deeper analysis may reveal a higher percentage of the traffic is even towards Abuja and PH
But the population figures negate this assumption. The SW is highly populated. Ibadan is a large city. It should churn out some quality traffic if not to Lagos at least to places like Abuja.

I assumed maybe because Ibadan is not a PDP state so the traffic to Abuja should be low. So I did two things. I checked back the figures for pre ACN years in Ibadan and the figures were even lower than the current one. The second thing I did was to compare Benin(an ACN controlled state) Traffic and found that it had the 4th highest number of passengers more than 10 times the traffic for Ibadan. So I did a deeper analysis.

The reality is that Airport traffic is a measure of disposable income in a city except that airport serves as a hub of some sort mostly by geographical advantage. Truth is Lagos has sucked up all upper level economic activity that would should have existed in places like Ibadan. The reflection of this fact is evident in not only Airport traffic but in all other business segments like banking et al. For instance, despite the fact that Ibadan has a much larger population than say Benin or Onitsha, the number of Banks branches operating in the former is far below the number of banks operating in the later.
I think though that with the growth in Agriculture that the country is currently experiencing coupled with the improved infrastructure many SW states would experience, the is room for very impressive growth in the region that would make those nearly dormant airports useful again.

richeyy: So what's your point? undecided Go through the post @bobosydney's profile and you'll see he's been living in Australia for about 10 years!

@Op: Progress is a slow process. We'll get there someday
I don't doubt that he resides in Australia. In fact I believe him wellla. But the picture he posted is not his house.
The Iyana Ipaja thingy is just a joke to punish his attempt at lying.

The thread is really about the Enugu Airport, so lets not deviate. And the fact that progress is a slow process is one of the reasons I celebrate.
