A Subway Murder and the ‘Islamophobia’ Industry
Why is there no program teaching against the “extremist” version of Islam in any mosque anywhere, despite the fact that converts to Islam seem peculiarly susceptible?

Last Saturday, a deranged woman pushed a man in front of a subway train in New York andkilled him, explaining that she did it because of her anger with Muslims ever since 9/11. Immediately, leftist and Islamic-supremacist writers swung into action to blame the murder on what they called an “Islamophobia industry,” despite the killer’s obvious insanity and history of violent attacks on random people. The attacks revealed much about the use of the term “Islamophobia” as a propaganda tool designed to shut down thinking.

One written by Haroon Moghul “a Fellow at the New America Foundation and the Centeron National Security at Fordham Law” as well as “a doctoral candidate at Columbia University,” offered more intelligence than the usual character assassins and victim-mongers who spread the myth of “Islamophobia.” It alsoilluminated a great deal about the central premises of the real “Islamophobia industry” – the one that is dedicated to intimidating Americans into thinking that it’s “bigoted” to resist jihad and Islamic supremacism.
Moghul portrays the deranged killer Erika Menendez as holding Muslims “collectively responsible for the actions of a few,” which he and his ilk frequently complain is what “Islamophobes” supposedly do: blame all Muslims for the actions of a few “extremists.” There may be some nuts somewhere who do that, but actually people like Haroon Moghul (and a host of others in his camp) are the ones who constantly proclaim this, not counter-jihadists. Moghul and co. want you to believe that that is what counter-jihad analysts are doing when they note that jihadists use the texts and teachings of Islam to justify violence and supremacism. Actually, in doing that they are recognizing that there is a problem within Islamic doctrine, which Muslims could conceivably reform or reject outright, however unlikely it may be that large numbers will do either. They are not blaming all Muslims for 9/11 or any other act of jihad. But if they can convince you that counter-jihadists are indeed vilifying all Muslims, they will thereby discourage people from joining their ranks. Andthat is the goal.

Moghul complains that for “Islamophobes,” “allMuslims are on the hook for what some Muslims do, and must constantly distance themselves from other Muslims—as if the whole must bear responsibility for the acts and faults of individuals. How does that make any sense, except in a racialized and dehumanizing way?”

In reality, no Muslims are “on the hook for what some Muslims do.” But virtually every day, somewhere in the world, some Muslims harm and kill people and justify their actions with reference to Islamic texts and teachings. How are we to deal with this? Do those Muslims who operate mosques and Muslim schools in the West (and elsewhere) not have any responsibility at all to try to ensure that their pupils don’t become jihad terrorists?

Certainly non-Muslim states have felt a great responsibility to prevent jihad terror, and have thus showered money on Pakistan and other Muslim countries in a vain attempt to stop it, while spending yet more money on hearts-and-minds initiatives such as building schools in Afghanistan, etc. Whether or not these programs are wise, is it entirely up to non-Muslims to try to stop jihad terror, with its 20,000+ attacks since 9/11?

There is no program teaching against the “extremist” version of Islam in any mosque anywhere, despite the fact that converts to Islam seem peculiarly susceptible to this understanding of Islam (cf. John Walker Lindh, Adam Gadahn, Richard Reid, and on and on) and the universally held assumption that the vast majority of Muslims reject and abhor this version of Islam. Why isn’t there? And why is Haroon Moghul obfuscating this issue, instead of expatiating on how unjust it is for him to be “on the hook” for what some other Muslims do?
Moghul insists that “Islamophobes” give short shrift to the fact that peaceful Muslims have a different interpretation of the Qur’an from that of the violent ones. That may well be, althoughthe violent interpretations are far more mainstream than he lets on in any case, the existence of the peaceful interpretations doesn’t cancel out the existence of the violent ones, just as Hamas-linked CAIR’s ad campaign that tries to sell the idea that jihad is helping your sixth grader with her homeworkand playing hopscotch with her when she’s done doesn’t do anything to address the inconvenient fact that a significant number of Muslims believe it involves warfare against andsubjugation of infidels. The people who need tobe convinced — the Muslims who believe in violent jihad — aren’t being addressed.

The common claim that the “Islamophobes” endorse the view of Islam of the “extremists” and ignore “moderate” versions ignores the deep traditional roots that offensive jihad for the subjugation of infidels has in Islam. Those who hold to the “extremist” view are actually quite mainstream. Ibn Khaldun (1332-1406), a pioneering historian and philosopher, was not an “extremist” by anyone’s account, and yet he wrote that “in the Muslim community, the holy war is a religious duty, because of the universalism of the Muslim mission and (the obligation to) convert everybody to Islam eitherby persuasion or by force.” In Islam, he added, the person in charge of religious affairs is concerned with “power politics,” because Islamis “under obligation to gain power over other nations.”
In modern times, Majid Khadduri, an Iraqi scholar of Islamic law, wrote this in his 1955 book War and Peace in the Law of Islam : “The Islamic state, whose principal function was to put God’s law into practice, sought to establish Islam as the dominant reigning ideology over the entire world….The jihad was therefore employed as an instrument for both the universalization of religion and the establishment of an imperial world state.” Was Khadduri, a scholar of international renown, an “Islamophobe” who was cravenly endorsing the “extremist” view of Islam in order to dehumanize Muslims? Come on.

But Moghul rejects any connection between theQur’an and violence, asking, “Imagine how we’d react to the proposition that reading the Bible explains George W.’s war against Iraq?” Well, if “George W.” had said that the Bible explained his war in Iraq, we would be remiss ifwe not only refused to look in the Bible to try tounderstand what George was up to, but vilified those who did look in it as haters of George. But that is the situation we are in today: Islamicjihadists explain and justify their actions with reference to the Qur’an, but those who look in the Qur’an and Islamic teaching to try to understand them, and who call for reform and reevaluation of the teachings they use to justify their actions, are vilified and demonized as “Islamophobes.”

Then when we look at the “moderate” Muslim establishment in the U.S., we see Muslim Brotherhood ties, open cheer-leading for the murderers of Hamas, and the like. It does not, to say the least, inspire confidence.

Haroon Moghul could have really struck a blow against any actual “Islamophobia,” i.e., the things that really make people dislike Islam: the bombings, the beheadings, the murders by Allahu-akbaring hordes. Instead, he is enabling them, by doing all he can to destroy their opposition.

Also "Allah" wrote the koran without vowels/diacritical signs.

Why would he now write them with those signs? Did he go back to school?

Does this mean the koran is getting a newer version?

tststs, wasn't the koran perfect/clear/complete the first time? Did allah lie or made a mistake?

------> Any Muslims saying those writings are from Allah is blaspheming.

PS: Did Allah fire Gabriel? I thought it was the Angel's job to send Allah's messages to the Muslims... Why didn't he do that on Muhammad's skin? Or straight on some goat's skins?

If Allah is updating the koran and also his methods, couldn't he e-mail or take over TV waves? Something less hurtful and with bigger coverage? Al-jazeera?

Odd. If this is really a sign from Allah, why does it make the baby so uncomfortable? In this it is
reminiscent of Muhammad's first revelation, in which -- according to Bukhari, the collection of Hadith
considered most reliable by Muslims -- Gabriel left Muhammad in a state of terror and confusion. Here again we see turbulence and discomfort accompany an alleged revelation from Allah -- belying in indirect but unmistakable terms the supposedly peaceful content of those revelations.

Anyways OP given that this story happened in 2009, that's some 4 years ago. Any updates on the current child's condition? Is Allah still tattooing on his body? Christianity EtcIran Re-arrests Pastor Nadarkhani On Christmas Day by ParisLove1(op): 10:00am On Jan 03, 2013
The Iranian Christian pastor who had been imprisoned in Iran for converting from Islam to Christianity was taken into custody again on Christmas Day, according to several Iranian media sources and individuals close to the pastor and his family.

Youcef Nadarkhani, 35,  had been summoned to return back to Lakan Prison in Rasht, the facility where he served time and was then released, based on the charge that he must complete the remainder of his sentence, according to several reports and confirmed by those close to Nadarkhani in Iran.

In September, the pastor was acquitted of apostasy, but the court maintained his three-year sentence for evangelizing Muslims. As he had already served close to three years, the pastor was freed after posting bail.

The court had then stated that the remainder which equaled roughly 45 days, would be served in the form of probation.

Nadarkhani, married and father of two young children, came under the regimeâs radar in 2006 when he applied for his church to be registered with the state. According to sources, he was arrested at that time and then soon released.

In 2009, Nadarkhani went to local officials to complain about Islamic indoctrination in his school district, arguing that his children should not be forced to learn about Islam.

He was subsequently arrested.

Since Nadarkhani's release in September, his attorney, Mohammed Ali Dadkhah has been imprisoned and remains in Iran's notoriously brutal Evin Prison where his health is rapidly deteriorating and is being denied proper dental care, according to his family. He has been incarcerated for advocating Nadarkhani's case and other human rights cases.

After his release, Nadarkhani wrote a public letter thanking all those who helped release him. In November, he traveled to London to speak at a national human rights conference thanking those who advocated on his behalf.

IslamRe: Are Women in the West Happy? Pt 1 by ParisLove1:
usermane: Uuh uuh, hmmm. I wonder what u 2 are arguing here. Firstly, what is an hijab? There is misconception on definition of hijab. No where in the Qur'an/Hadith was the hijab described or pictured as the triangular tent-like dress muslim women put on today.
I am not saying the triangular dress is not an hijab,am saying you cant term it the sole definition of hijab. We have to know two things, hijab is a collective noun. Hijab is not a uniform, hijab is a dress code. A lady musn't be putting on that triangular dress b4 she knows she is in hijab. The main definition of the hijab are 3 in one :
Conceals the skin/hair
Conceals the shape
Transluscent/Opaqe.
Whatever dress a lady puts on, as long as it satisfies these 3 conditions,it is Hijab and for your information, there are lots of such dresses out there.
Nice, so does this photo below satisfy your 3 conditions?

Christianity EtcEgypt's Coptic Christians Choose New Pope by ParisLove1(op): 1:28pm On Nov 04, 2012

Nearly 2,500 Coptic public officials, MPs, journalists and local councillors took partin the vote

The Coptic Orthodox church has chosen a new pope, Bishop Tawadros, to lead the Middle East's biggest Christian community.

In a sumptuous ritual filled with prayer, chants and incense on Sunday at Abbasiya cathedral in Cairo, the 60-year-old bishop's name was picked by a blindfolded child from a glass bowl in which the names of two other candidates had also been placed.

Tawadros, of the Nile Delta province of Beheira, replaces Pope Shenouda III who led the church for four decades until he died in March aged 88.

Many Copts will look to the new pope to ensurethat the voice of Christians, who have long complained of discrimination in Egypt, are heard.

Acting Pope Pachomios laid on Sunday the three names, already selected in a limited votein church last week, in plastic balls inside the chalice before starting Mass.

He selected on Saturday 12 altar boys betweenthe ages of five and eight, one of whom was ordered to pick the name during Sunday's ceremony.

Tawadros will be the 118th pope in a line dating back to the origins of Christianity and to Saint Mark, the apostle and author of one of the four Gospels, who brought the new faith to Egypt.

Nearly 2,500 Coptic public officials, MPs, journalists and local councillors took part in the vote.

Sectarian clashes between Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims have led to dozens of deaths this week.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
A group of Islamic organizations in Myanmar has canceled Eid al-Adha celebrations
There have been violent clashes this week between Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims
Dozens of people have been killed, and thousands of homes have been burnt down
(CNN) -- Following a volatile week in Myanmar that has seen a surge in deadly sectarian violence, a group of Islamic organizations in the country announced that it had canceled all celebrations for Eid al-Adha , the four-day religious holiday observed by many Muslims.
No reason was given in the announcement from the All Myanmar Islam Association, a collaboration of five major Islamic organizations there. But locals are seeing it as a precautionary measure after the violence in recent days.
Clashes between Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims have flared this week killing dozens of people and burning thousands of homes to the ground in the western state of Rakhine.
There has been tension between the two ethnic groups since May, when violence began after three Muslim men were arrested on suspicion of ràping and killing a Buddhist woman.

New satellite imagery shows what Human Rights Watch says is extensive destruction in a Rohingya area of Kyauk Pyu.

New satellite imagery obtained by Human Rights Watch shows what it said was extensive destruction of buildings in a predominantly Rohingya area of the coastal town of Kyauk Pyu. The swath of arson, the group said, stretched over 35 acres and included houseboats and floating barges.
The government in Myanmar "urgently needs to provide security for the Rohingya ... who are under vicious attack," said Phil Robertson, deputy Asia director of Human Rights Watch. "Unless the authorities also start addressing the root causes of the violence, it is only likely to get worse."
The Rohingya are a stateless Muslim minority who say they have been persecuted by the Myanmar military during its decades of authoritarian rule. Myanmar doesn't recognize them as citizens.

[Q&A: What's behind the sectarian violence in Myanmar?

https://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/dam/assets/121028122839-01-eid-1028-horizontal-gallery.jpg

Unrest between the Rohingya and majority Buddhists has tested President Thein Sein's administration, which is trying to seek reconciliation with Myanmar's different ethnic groups and move the country toward more democratic governance.
The government has sent extra security into the troubled region and declared a state of emergency. The president's office warned Thursday that"manipulators" behind the violence can expect to befound and prosecuted.
Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, speaking in Parliament on Friday, called for a greater security presence and urged authorities to investigate suspected human rights offenses.

The Role of Muhammad According to Allah

Surah2:272 Yusuf Ali It is not required of thee (O Messenger), to set them on the right path but Allah sets on the right path whom He pleaseth. Whatever of good ye give benefits your own souls, and ye shall only do so seeking the “Face” of Allah. Whatever good ye give, shall be rendered back to you, and ye shall not Be dealt with unjustly.

Pickthall The guiding of them is not thy duty (O Muhammad) , but Allah guideth whom He will. And whatsoever good thing ye spend, it is for yourselves, when ye spend not save in search of Allah’s Countenance; and whatsoever good thing ye spend, it will be repaid to you in full, and ye will not be wronged.

note is the beginning of this ayat: “The guiding of them is not thy duty (O Muhammad)”. This means that guiding people to the‘ right’ (read wrong) path is not required of Muhammad because Allah is taking care of that. One thing must be kept in mind that this is the opinion of Allah himself.

Now let us read 13:7;

Surah13:7 Yusuf Ali 013.007 Y: And the Unbelievers say: “Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?” But thou art truly a warner, and to every people a guide.

:Pickthall Those who disbelieve say: If only some portent were sent down upon him from his Lord! Thou art a warner only, and for every folk a guide.

What do we read here? Here Allah states that “Muhammad is a guide to EVERY people”. It is not hard to conclude that 2:272 and 13:7 contradicts. It seems that Allah, the so called creator of everything, including confusion, is himself confused about the role of Muhammad as a guide. undecided undecided undecided

By The Associated Press
A teacher in southern Egypt punished two 12-year-old schoolgirls for not wearing the Muslim headscarfby cutting their hair, the father of one girl said Wednesday, in an incident that stokes concerns over personal rights following the rise of Islamist political movements.

The governor of Luxor province where the incident occurred called the teacher's actions “shameful” and said she had been transferred to another school. But rights groups say that some Islamic conservatives have been emboldened by the success of groups like Muslim Brotherhood and the ultraconservative Salafi trend in parliamentary and presidential elections and have been increasingly brazen about forcing their standards on other Egyptians.

The incident follows a surge in legal cases against Egyptians, mostly Christians, who allegedly showed contempt for religion. The trial of one, Alber Saber, opened Wednesday but was postponed.

It also comes amid a fierce debate over how the roleof religion will be defined in the country's new constitution. The preponderance of Islamists on the panel drafting the document has alarmed liberals and religious minorities.

In the village of Qurna in Luxor province, 500 kilometers (300 miles) south of Cairo, father Berbesh Khairi El-Rawi said the teacher forced the two girls to stand with their hands above their heads for two hours and then cut their hair in their school.
