Nigeria splashed $369 Billion on military expenditure in 24 years!.
In 2014,our defence budget increased by 100% to over $7 Billion.
I dont know where you get your "$7 billion" from since your "citation" only goes to 2011 and a peak of $3,6 Billion is recorded.

And, FYI, your source quotes SIPRI - and most recent info from Sipri is that your budget is just over $2 billion and that it has fallen for a third year in a row.

While, again, by your own source South Africa has spent $416 Billion over the same period of time and while you only spent $3,6 billion in 2011 we were spending $3,7... and our military is half the size of yours.

Good one there, dingus.

So you have ZERO proof of all your claims !

You just pulled those words out of your äss hole and posted them on Nairaland.....cool...real cool gringrin

@Patches, in a lying and deception competition, I will surrender to you without a fight
.
How else does an actor generate income if not through acting?

Do you think someone gave her $100 million from the charity of their own heart?

You want to talk lies? ok:

- Missile armed OPV's
- T80 Oplot
- Tucano
- FH-77 B05 L52
- 40km ranged RH-70's
- Su30
- BVRAM range on PLC-9 missiles
- Otomat Mk2
- "hundreds" of T72s in Nigeria

Your history of lies is well known and well documented

.
Augustus.

It is quite clear what is happening

You are sad that your artillery has a shorter range than ours.

And despite bragging about non-existant 40km range... you have no turned around and said that a 40km range is useless because artillery deploys on the frontline.

You dont understand how artillery works - you cant even wrap your head around the use of spotters.

I shall give you your last free lesson:

- artillery deploys to the rear
- spotters, drones, aircraft, satelights , communications intercepts, ground based radar all provide targets along and behind the frontlines
- artillery shoots those targets from a distance.

OUR artillery can shell YOUR frontline from ranges that prevent YOUR artillery engaging OUR artillery in counter-battery fire.

YOUR artillery has to come into range of OUR artillery in order to shell OUR frontline meaning we can engage YOUR artillery in counter-battery fire.

That is simply the reality on ground.Nigeria will be the first Sub-Saharan African country to fly F-16s into battle, its already on the drawing board.
Our Apaches will most likely come from Isreal, obviously with the full backing of the US.
S-400 ADMs will be procured in battalions, along with T80 MBTs.Hummer APCs will rave through our streets in hundreds.
We can more than afford the SU-30 and Rafale,we run on a $7-8 Billion defence budget, that is more than enough to procure 3 squadrons of the SU-30 with enough cash to spare.
The JF-17 was designed similar to the J-10,though it isnt battle tested, however,it is a potent 4th generation striker designed for air superiority and missile load.moreover,it is easy to upgrade.
Yes, and that drawing board is the delusions in your head.

US wont sell you arms now, why would they suddenly sell you their most precious arms?

actually... wait... i am not wasting my time responding to this gibberish.

Your defence budget is $2 billion.

You can barely afford to feild the army you have - let alone buy all this gear.

Okay, you know admit that artillery sits on the front line.

You were trying to deceive this forum some days ago .

Anointed fraudster
.
Nope.

Read what I said - it may end up on the front lines on occasion.

I dont know if you realize this, but war is fluid front lines may shift 50km in a couple of hours, guns can get caught out of position. Just like a Brigade Commanders HQ may end up coming under direct attack, or a feild hospital getting over-run.

Standard placement for guns is behind the front lines. Allways has been, allways will be.

Why else would they bother giving guns huge ranges?

Pic related, Russian artillery deployment - are they on the frontline or behind it?

We are building our military capabilities enough to defeat islamic terrorism in all corners of the African continent. With the election of Buhari,we will soon have vastly upgraded F-16s and Apaches soaring high in our skies, along with other land assets and even warships. Not only that,we may also be able to snag a few squadrons of the french Rafale jets.
Moreover, our close ties with Russia and Pakistan would see us toasting our enemies with SU-30 and JF-17,along with mouth watering hauls of badass missiles from the US and Russia.
SA is in for more tears as your percieved military strength is violently torn apart by the indomitable NIGERIAN ARMED FORCES.
F-16's? Apache?

Bwa-ahahahahahahahahahahahahah omg my sides.

You realize that America's biggest ally in Africa (egypt) had to get on its knees and suck american co.ck for years to get either of those? You think they will sell to you?

You cant afford the Rafael or the Su-30 and the JF-17 is complete trash its comparable to the F-16 Block 40 from the 1980's.

The real question is how you are going to aquire that equipment, maintain your current equipment and fund COIN operations with allmost half the budget we have

It's marketing gimmicks and a confused journalist who has no understanding of SANDF and DENEL marketing methods.

South African air force has NO SINGLE Seeker Drone in service.

Nigeria is the first and only country in Africa to ever use a guided missile armed drone in combat.

NAF is far superior to SAAF in that aspect, you guys have NO air to surface missile in service, you NEVER ordered one.

Hawk jet cannot operate where enemy interceptor jets exist, the Hawk has NO radar , it will be shot down from distance by air superiority jet.

SAAF is a lame duck under the command of an air force chief of staff that has ZERO war experience, we can compare him to Togo Republics chief of air staff
1. I guess I need to repost images of the Mokopa's armed on an SANDF Rooivalk at an SANDF display
2. He is a military journalist, he knows what he is saying and what he is saying is clear - SAAF drones.
3. Hawk uses data-link for radar targeting
4. Hawk wont operate alone, it will have Gripen assisting it.

Nigerian airforce has no real war exerpeince - bombing rebels is about as challenging as bombing empty fields.

Reminder: The Nigerian airforce has never deployed in a contested airspace

I can taste your jealousy from here!!

Nope, SANDF spends most of it's defense budget on paying fat salaries to lazy soldiers and inexperienced pot belly Generals who see military work as a way out of unemployment and part their BEE Blackman's benefit from ANC government.

The fact is that SIPRI confessed they have no fact about Nigerian military because of secrecy. So your fact is NOT fact, the fact is unknown to the world
.

Cool opinion

But facts are facts - SANDF has allmost twice the budget than the Nigerian Military despite being half its size.

Cuba and South Africa did it in 704 and 80s, enemy commanders will not expect it and likely send their aircraft 20km+ away to try locate the guns and MRLs.

But it is dangerous.

South Africa captured tons of enemy artillery pieces at the front lines.
Yes no doubt on occasion they will be used in forward echelons

But artillery spends the majority of its time in the rear or in the reserve sector of the front.

Indirect fire versus direct fire.

SANDF is the one that is bankrupt.

SIPRI confessed that they do not know all Nigeria's weapons purchases because according to SIPRI, Nigerian military acquisition is largely secretive, so how will they add the value of secret weapons purchases?

I think you have problem with basic logical thinkng.

SIPRI even says they don't know the source of most of Nigeria's T-72 tanks, so they don't even know how many T-72 tanks we have purchased.

Nigeria has turned SIPRI into a lame duck and under-informed entity blinded in the dark room by Nigerian military secrecy .

Meanwhile, SANDF reveals all it's weapons imports and have been confirmed broke by Defenceweb shocked shocked
.
Nigerian spending (total values) is readily available as it is public record.

What you spend your money on is a different story and is harder to track. And in anycase, we are talking about budgets here.

But the fact remains:

Nigerian Military Budget: $2.3 Billion (plus a once off $1 billion stimulus)
SANDF Budget: $3,8 Billion EVERY YEAR

Hahahaha, your army is twice as big yet we have allmost twice the budget as you!!

If we spend this much on less men and still consider it not enough, it goes to show how low Nigerian Military standards are!
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 10:57am On Apr 23, 2015
Finally SIPRI confirms Nigeria's military spending:

"Nigeria’s budgeted military expenditure fell in 2014 for the third year running, by 9.3 per cent, to $2.3 billion. Nonetheless, the total is still 79 per cent higher than in 2005, and the budgeted figure does not include a $1 billion loan approved by the Nigerian Congress in October 2014 for military hardware and training to fight the militant group Boko Haram. However, it is debatable whether extra funding for the military on its own will prove effective, given the rampant corruption in the Nigerian armed forces and alleged human rights abuses by Nigerian soldiers that have alienated much of the local population. Such factors have severely impeded the fight against Boko Haram so far,” SIRPI noted

SIPRI quotes the SANDF budget at 3,8 billion.

This is still more than Nigeria's even if you count your once off loan

SANDF is half as big as the Nigerian military yet gets allmost twice the budget!!

Lol!! Who is bankrupt now!?!!?

O yes, because South Africans created:

- District 9. Directed and filmed in South Africa. Gross Profit: $210 million dollars
- Chappie. Directed and filmed in South Africa. Gross Profit: $13 million (opening day alone)

While the top Grossing Nollywood film "30 Days in Atlanta" brought in a total of only $689 447
