First of, You did not upgrade any sub. Fact remains while you told multiple lies about your fleet been all operational, you sub was spending 7 years at the Dock.

Nigeria operates 12 A109, 19 in total if we add Navy A109's, all of them maintained in cavernton's A109 facility here in Nigeria. Yet we have always had ours flying, while yours are always grounded.

For attack, Nigeria has 30 MI-35P/m/24v Helicopters in service, while 6 MI-35m and 12 up-graded MI-35 helicopters are still on order from Russia and belarus.

For the same attack role, Nigeria has gazelle and armed Super-Puma Helicopters.

While South-Africa only 10 helicopters to cover an over 1.2 million square kilometre area.

You see how pathetic your SAAF is!!

You do not have 18 Gripen Pilots, you have 9 pilots and 9 navigators for 26 planes. This is after 16 years of your signing your Gripen contracts.
We told no lies about the vessels and their operational status. They have been in the same numbers since we bought them, according to the plans we formulated before we bought them. One Valour Class at sea, one in reserve, one in refit/repair/maintenance and one being used as a training platform. Same applies to the subs.

Your A109's are not the modern A109 LUH and since you do not live in a free country, information relating to their flight status is not available. If they are anything like your navy, chances are they havent flown in years. And again, our A109's are all operational.

Your attack helicopter numbers are inflated and are based on rumor not fact.

Your light attack helicopters consist of ONE Gazelle and your Super Puma's are not attack helicopters you clown.

Again I have to remind you that the size of the country does not dictate our needs with regards to attack helicopters and that 11 Rooivalk can do infinitly more damage than your flying relics.

You have no evidence to support your claims, we have 18 Aircrew and that is final.

There are no Patria IFV's in service with the SANDF. Quit day dreaming.

Like i've stated Previously, only Egypt, Algeria and Uganda have MBT's that are better than NA T-72's.

Your olifant tank is a 1940's museum relic. It wasn't even a proper tank in it's 1940's era. The Tiger tank and T-35 tank were better than it.

This isn't stalin, Hitler, Churchill, FDR's era anymore.
First, as I have posted (with citations) many times, 5 or 6 are currently in service

Second, as I have posted (with citations) the upgrades on the Olifant Mk 2 make it superior in terms of accuracy and optics to the T-72

Third, the only thing the Olifant and Centurion have in common is the hull, everything else has been upgraded over the years

Fourth, you clearly dont even know what a Centurion tank is, and as usual you have no idea what you are talking about, because it wasnt around in WW2 you complete dingus!!

The Nigerian Navy has

1 Frigate
4 corvettes
6 missile crafts and

39 other capital vessels.

It is by far a more functional and purpose built Navy than SA navy can dream of.
Nigerian Navy:

1 Frigate
-Aradu un-operational since 2007

4 Corvettes (only 2 operational at this time)
- NNS ENYIMIRI nonoperational since 1999
- NNS ERINOMI nonoperational since 1999
- NNS Okpabana - 48 year old, stripped of any usefull equipment by the americans
- NNS Thunder - 49 year old, stripped of any usefull equipment by the americans

6 Missile Craft (only 2 operational at this time)
- NNS EKPE, NNS DAMISA, NNS AGU, NNS EKU have not been operational since 1999

59 police boats dont impress anyone

You have a coast gaurd, we have a navy.

Ours can fight wars, ours can secure our waters.

Yours can only enforce the law (and it is failing at it)

You keep recycling the same old tired story.

Fact, you begged the french for safe passage to the Airport. Troops deployed in the DRC for a UN mission in the eastern DRC are not a QRF.

No systems were deployed around CAR. Your Generals sh1t their pants anytime the word Seleka is pronounced.

Your Generals, just like your troops on the ground are a bunch of pathetic cowards.

You claimed to have killed 1500 Seleka members, but Seleka still took over the capital the very next day.

Go tell that lie to your little niece.
1. We never begged anyone for safe passage anywhere - we left our base after the ceasefire Our safety was guaranteed

2. The deployment of Gripen, Helo's, C130's and a battalion of men has been well documented and covered.

3. Seleka themselves confirm heavy casualties

Fool, you don't have all those weapons combined on any single Ratel, those are for different versions.

Same way BTR-4E has versions for all those kind of guns and mortar, however as a modern 2010 IFV the BTR-4 combines 30mm cannon plus 40mm automatic grenade launcher plus anti-tank missiles on one single BTR-4.....a feat which your obsolete 1980 Ratel CANNOT perform.

You started messing up this thread again and I will just go back ignoring the thread until your season of m.adness is over
.
Augustus, you do not have all those weapons systems one one BTR

its a 30mm cannon and either a 40mm AGL or an ATGM

And again, your version does not have these things.

No wonder SANDF Elite and Specially disgraced special forces ran to French army at Bangui airport for white-man's army protection that your destiny is very familiar with grin cheesy tongue shocked

Not sure, but I will list most of Nigeria's newly purchased weapons here in a few weeks times, full list of what is confirmed, many secret deals will still be unknown to public maybe forever. Some of the weapons I will list have not been disclosed before now. A colleague in the same profession has the list already and I will get it.
What is your profession again?

The purpose of Nigeria's Navy is to protect our EEZ.

On the other hand, the purpose of the SA Navy is to take pictures.

Now i can clearly see your procurement isn't geared towards functionality, but on a need to take photos.
Our navy is geared towards fighting wars and protecting our sovereignty

Your navy coast guard is geared towards law enforcement

Nigeria has no threat of any hostile navy vessel, all we see are criminal pirates, so we can afford to reserve NNS Aradu and sail around in OPVs, a navy fights the war it sees, not the video game war it imagines.
Why do you keep talking about navies?

You have a coast guard.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 6:40am On Feb 22, 2015

Valour frigate is NOT an OPV for constant patrolling and you already ruined 3 of them with engine fatigue grin

I proved Nigeria's Otomat missiles have not expired, other navies who bought Otomat same time with us are still test firing theirs very recently or still have them on board their warships like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela.

Show us war and we will revive NNS Aradu with Otomat missiles, it's range is superior to your Valour frigates overrated Exocets
.
Engines wear out naturally, especially ones as advanced as those on the valour class - they get replaced with re-fit, this is normal.

Valour class operate just fine as patrol vessels, and you are right, they arent an OPV... they are frigates cool

As we have proven (thanks SIPRI) you only have Otomat Mk1 with 60km range... our missiles have a 72km range

And no, you have been unable to revive old man Aradu in the last 10 years, you wont magically revive him now.

SAN has no flat bottom swamp patrol crafts, no high speed radar guided ocean interceptors, no long endurance patrol vessel, no stealth IPV, no stealth MPV, no stealth OPV.

Go kiss your canvas shoes in the mud !
Good thing we dont have any swamps to patrol! Also, what is a Namacurra class?

We do have high speed interceptors, they live on the valour class and they are called lynx's

15, 000 km range (and the ability to re-fuel and re-arm at sea from the Drakensburg) makes the Valour class pretty long endurance

No stealth IPV? Ok, and so? We have IPV's and we are getting another 3.

No stealth OPV? and so? We have OPV's and we are getting another 3.

Nigeria has no operational missile armed warships, no submarines, no conventional warfighting abilities, no supply vessels, no ability to project force, no ASW capabilities.

You dont have a navy, you have a coast gaurd

South African army is worse, about 230 units of Olifant tanks in SANDF, only 26 units have modular armour and it is not all round protection, only the vital areas have modular passive armour, the other parts of your re-welded and re-painted 1970s old generation tanks have ordinary welded steel RHA armour that Boko Haram will penetrate with HEAT warhead shoulder carried RPG.

Over 200 SANDF Olifant tanks are still having the ancient 1940s invented steel armour....your tank force of those 200 will all be k.illed by 5 Nigerian T-72 tanks with ERA armour in 30 minutes.

You should look well at your obsolescent army arsenal before you talk, get it ?
First, you have less than 26 T-72's

Second the Olifant Mk1 A/B and Mk 2's are just as capable (if not more) than your T-72's

And we are going to be replacing them... you bought new tanks and got relics... pfft... peasants

Nigeria has 51 capital vessels in service.

So much for training for "high intensity" warfare with your SUB spending 7 years at the Docks, or with your A109's spending more time grounded in 2014, and of course, your 9 Gripen pilots for 26 planes.

"You're actually very well prepared."

On the other hand, the Nigerian Navy has built a comprehensive security architecture which allows for a comprehensive surveillance of our EEZ using long range camera's, satellites, ships and air-borne assets all connected to the wider RIMPAC network using a series of data links.

Can we say the same for SA........ NO!
We upgraded that sub ourselves for the first time ever - so obviously there was a big learning curve and it took time.

But while that one sub was being worked on... we had 2 other submarines performing operations. How many do you have?

A109's are not the only helicopter we operate, they are more advanced than any helicopter you operate and at this point in time we still operate more helicopters than you.

18 Gripen pilots and 52 Hawks pilots (you jelly brah?)

Nigeria has built a coast guard, not a navy

Why the stones...... you forgot to add brakes grin grin grin?

The Olifant tank is a 1940's museum relic grin grin get that dinosaur out of this thread.

Until you can provide evidence, the BTR-4E is, and still remains the best IFV in SSA.

30mm cannon
ATGM capable
Amphibious, all terrain vehicle.

Nothing comes close to the all round operational capability of the BTR-4E.
Henry, yet again I have to tell you that evidence has been provided.

The Badger is superior in every way except to speed.

6 are currently in service, a further 16 are being sent over from Finland before the first one rolls off the South African production line later this year

The Olifant Mk 1 A/B and Mk2 is about as advanced as your T72

I said bring a debate, and this is all you can muster.......... poor!!

Nigerian Army BTR-4E

Our version operates in the Shkval module.

SHKVAL Module

Armament : 30mm Cannon
30mm Grenade launcher
7.62mm machine gun
2 Anti-Tank missilles

Mobility. : 600 horse power Engine powers this IFV with a top speed of 110 km and a 650 km range.

Armour. : Protection against 7.62, 12.7mm basic. Add on Armour and a Slat Armour can also be added.

Versatility. : The BTR-4E is also fully amphibious and can perform in any terrain.

Crew. : 10 fully armed men.

Accessories. : CCTV /NFS for both day and night operations.

The Nigerian Army BTR-4E is top down the best IFV in service in Africa.
and how does it compare to the badger?

Plus... you got the peasant module... not the actual top of class GROM module

Of the 4 vessels.

2 of them are new builds.

NNS Okpobana is also as good as new, as the Navy spent 8.5 million dollars on refurbishment.

While prosperity is a training ship.

Of course, you have nothing to celebrate in South-Africa.

The Nigerian Navy is well suited to carry out it's present and future threat requirements.

We have multiple capital vessels that are suited to provide extensive and the obligatory protection of our EEZ.

We cannot say the say for SA with it's mismatched assets.
Factually speaking, Nigeria has ZERO capital vessals

Factually speaking, Nigeria has ZERO vessals configured for conventional warfare

Congratulations on the formation of your coast guard, the SAN (between training for high intensity warfare) salutes you!!

Henry120:
"Yeah, of course they are".

The Patria IFV isn't yet in service with any military on the African continent. This isn't a question of what you wish to have, but what you actually have. Stay in touch with reality.

On that basis, Nigerian Army BTR-4E's is the best IFV in Africa.

The T-72's battlefield experience in Nigeria's war on terror would make an inspiring war memoir.

Stories have been posted of T-72 MBT hit countless times with VBIED's. Yet those vehicles have come out un-scared, without any damages.

The T-72's have proven to been an invaluable asset to the Nigerian military both for day and night fighting operations.

It's battlefield experience in Nigeria is impeccable.

All tanks are vulnerable to ATGM. No provides full proof protection against ATGM's.

As far as MBT's go in Africa.

1) Abrams M1 = Egypt

2) T-90 = Algeria and Uganda

3). T-72AV / T-72czm2 = Nigeria.

4). T-72. = Ethiopia.

These are the only MBT's worthy of mention in Africa.
At this point in time Cameroon has better IFVs'... Sht1t sone, are you seriously comparing an upgraded cold-war IFV to a latest gen tank hunting IFV? The Stryker called... it wanted to remind you that its not 1985 anymore

At this pointy in time Soutrh Africa has the best "IFV pipleine"

As to the T-72, the Olifant is better despite the smaller bore gun, because, technologically we are ahead... seriously, 2015 and you are still usig reactive armor? lol, get on the composite train brother!!

Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 2:23am On Feb 21, 2015

The BTR-4E is by far the best IFV in service in SSA. This is a statistical fact.

T-72AV's, T-72CZM1/2's, T-72b

The Federal government through it's relief agencies caters extensively for IDP's.

What a stup1d question............. they return back to building Africa's first Trillion dollars economy. we are currently at 526 billion dollars, still a significant proportion to go.
Cameroons Type 07P's and PTL-02's are better

Badger will be the best in the continent, and we are getting meaningfull number of them (236) unlike you whom has only got a handfull

T72 is a death trap, reactive armor or not... just look at Syria. Cheap chinese ATGM's eating them for breakfast all day long. Look at its combat history as well, its been slaughtered every single time its been in combat. Worthless tank.

This is weak mike undecided undecided, make this thing interesting mate.

Nigeria commissioned 4 vessels yesterday.

NNS Centenary, Brand new stealth 96 meters OPV for the Nigerian Navy.

120 meters, High Endurance cutter which had an 8 million dollars up-grade. She (NNS Okpobana) is one of only 2 vessels on the continent that can circumnavigate Africa.

What an Endurance.

"The ship's capabilities are enhanced by advanced air search and surface search radars including the AN/SPS-73 digital surface radar system that incorporates a state of the art computerized collision avoidance system. She uses the Shipboard Command and Control System (SCCS) which uses a network of computers including large screen displays and a dedicated satellite network for communications. "

OKPABANA incorporates a Regional Maritime Awareness Capability (R-Mack) system on board.

“This system will link back to the NN wider R-Mack network and expand NN’s ability to track and identify vessels throughout the Gulf of Guinea”, he said.

NNS Sagbama is a brand new 48 meters MPV gifted to the Nigerian Navy.

NNS Prosperity is a training ship for cadets.
Yes we know what they are Henry120

But how are they better?

What is the point of an ultra long range vessel if your operations are only in the gulf of guinea?

Also, not a single one of the 4 is an actual warship

There is an Insurgency in only 11 local government's of 774 in Nigeria.

We did not concede any part of Nigeria to terrorists. Why are you too dumb to understand this?

You only proved Link ZA was operational in the last days of that argument.

Like I always ask for, provide veritable evidence. If you cannot do this, your claim is dead on arrival.
So if you did not concede ground... how then how are the Chadians liberating towns? How is your own army re-capturing towns? It is a well known fact that at the height of its power, Boko Haram occupied an area roughly the size of Belgium.

We proved it was operational from day one, you clown, we reposted citation after citation and you refused to acknowladge it.

And yet the fact is that you have conceded vast areas of your territory to the terrorists - as we have shown with countless citations.
