Henry120: First off, you made the white men in the video as a direct reference to South-African contractors in Nigeria. Your initial thought was to use the "white men" in the video as your yard stick.
What i said was:
Many men will simply be there as "teachers" - passing on knowledge to infantry about small squad tactics, maneuvers, CQB, bush warfare etc - A video posted on this forum very recently showed "white" men doing just that. And my bet is that the majority who were sent will be either "teaching" at training camps or advising in the field (being embedded with command) with a handfull providing more skilled training to air-crew or command elements.
lezz: most of your claims by literary efforts have successfully built a solid imagery of stupidity of your real person.
Even if it were to be established that southafrican mercenaries are in Nigeria, they are not the sandf, they are probably former Anglo-dutch apartheid mass, cold blooded slaughterers of your kind.
The purported "sophistication" of the mythical and political SA mercenary do not morph into the superiority of the sandf which has been decaying since 1994 till this day.
Men from the SANDF become mercenaries all the time, the Iraq war put massive strain on the SANDF and specialist elements of SAPSas skilled members left for better pay in the service of Mercanary comapanies.
Even Gadaffi tried to hire a team of men (who were at that time member of SAPS/SANDF) to act as his personal body-guards during the civil war. Maybe if he had, he would still be alive
Whilst the latest generation of South Africans are still leaders in the world of guns for hire - just take a look at Saracen International for example
Henry120: Like i've stated previously, the only Afrikanners who are in Nigeria, are basically on pilgrimage to christ embassy and the synagogue church.
The SANDF is in a dire state, truly your phantom mercs are needed in South-Africa, instead of their current homestead of Australia.
The Nigerian military refutes any of such claim.
I challenge you to provide a single name of any military personnel who corroborates your wishful report?
1. Since being a mercenary in South Africa is illegal, a "pilgrimage" to the christ embassy would make an excellent cover.
2. SANDF is doing just fine, and is in a faar better state than your own military.
3. I dont have to, the story is all over the media. They have done their work for me.
Henry120: Nope, you weren't making any example. Israeli, pakistani and American contractors/military personnel have always been part of the Nigerian military.
Thing is, the Nigerian Army refutes those stories.
South-Africans do not use Tavor-21's, neither do the Nigerian army.
Only the Navy, Airforce and DSS use the Tavor in Nigeria.
First, no one is arguing about the Tavor. I never said those were specifically south africans, I was making an example of the role mercenaries play in training. If you cannot read, or have a low reading comprehension that is your problem not mine.
Second, multiple sources have confirmed South Africans are training Nigerians. You yourself say that mercenaries have been training your military for years - so why is it a shock that we are training you as well? Afterall, South Africans are the best mercenaries in the world.
Henry120: Patches689 brought up "white men in a video", to support his argument.
You should tell him to provide proper evidence, same as you, to proof your wild imaginations.
From the video, the Nigerian military has nothing to hide, neither do we. We have said consistently, Israelis provide support to the military. The video is only another validation of this widely know fact.
The story about south-african mercs have been denied by both the Nigerian and South-African governments.
first, i refrenced the white men in the video as an example i was making
Second, multiple links have been posted on this forum. There is more than enough evidence
Henry120: Thank you for bringing this up. The video shows white men providing technical support. The video also shows the same white men carrying Tavor-21 carbines.
South-Africans do not use the Tavor-21.
The Nigerian Army been supported do not also use the Tavor-21.
So, provide a guess which country the white guys come from?
South Africans will use whatever gun is readily available
iterator24: so Nigerian army can't 'use' equipments, is that what you're saying?
Maybe some can, probably most cant.
Look, driving a MBT and using it in combat (ie: crew tasks) is actually pretty simple stuff, all of us on this forum would be able to do it with less than a weeks training (we would be very bad, but we could do the basics).
So, no, most likely they are not there to teach you how to operate equipment.
They are most likely there to teach you how to effectively employ equipment.
But I dont understand why the argument is limited to equipment - why are we fixating on this?
Many men will simply be there as "teachers" - passing on knowledge to infantry about small squad tactics, maneuvers, CQB, bush warfare etc - A video posted on this forum very recently showed "white" men doing just that. And my bet is that the majority who were sent will be either "teaching" at training camps or advising in the field (being embedded with command) with a handfull providing more skilled training to air-crew or command elements.
This is exactly the model that Executive Outcomes employed in operations against UNITA in Angola
agaugust: Those Southies are fools on nairaland, South African mercenaries have NEVER flown jet fighters in their lives. Where is their airbase in South Africa and the name of the jets they fly? Zima will allow racist era white ex-soldiers to operate private air force inside South Africa? Nobody flies a jet fighter in combat without standard qualifying pilot hours of practice on a yearly regular basis.
Nigeria is Alpha jet master of this world, even Germany and France that built Alpha jet cannot match us, NAF has used Alpha jet in combat for 25 years. The NAF Alpha jets of today are new upgrades with laser guided bombs and other PGM. F-7 jet cannot be flown without training in China, so how does a local Soweto based mercenary fly F-7 supersonic jet?
SA mercenaries are obsolete rifle men of 1980s era, how will they train Nigeria to operate BTR-4 IFV that is ultra modern and entered service around 2010 ? Missile armed drones, ATR-42 Surveyor ELINT aircraft, equipment that even today's SANDF does not have, how will 1980s old mercenary from Soweto teach Nigeria to use it?
Norinco LG-3 AGL, BVP M80 IFV, latest generation of sophisticated equipments that never existed in apartheid era, how does a mercenary of 1980 operate that, talk less of teaching another person to use it.
Nigeria is flying Mi-35 Hind E combat helicopter gunship 2014 latest version with FLIR/TV and advanced avionics that no Southie mercenary has ever seen in his life time....only Russia can train a user on Hind E....how does a rifle man mercenary train NAF on ultra modern equipment that even SAAF and SANDF does not have today 2015 ?
Chief those Nairaland Southies are the fools I said they are .
how will they train Nigeria to operate BTR-4 IFV that is ultra modern and entered service around 2010
They will train you how to employ it properly. They will teach you about mobility warfare and logistics
Missile armed drones,
You dont have any
ATR-42 Surveyor ELINT aircraft
We will teach you how to fuse the data it collects with ground operations. Again - we teach you how to effectivly use equipment, not operate it.
Norinco LG-3 AGL, BVP M80 IFV, latest generation of sophisticated equipments that never existed in apartheid era, how does a mercenary of 1980 operate that, talk less of teaching another person to use it.
The SADF was the first major military to standardize the use of MGL's, and we currently have a standardized AGL (while you only have them in limited numbers), so yes - there is plenty we can teach you about both.
BVP M80? You mean an IFV from the 1980's? How is that latest generation? And it very much existed in the apartheid era!
Furthermore, your major failing is assuming all these men training your army are from the SADF... what is to say that they are not men who have left the SANDF for more money or through retirement?
Clown, you could potentially have men who flew Rooivalk in the early 2000's flying your Hinds for you.
Yet again, your argument is based on an ad hominem, and yet again, I have wrecked it.
iterator24: I just don't get it, NA has been the one that was being trained by the US until nigeria terminated it citing odd practices. NAF however, has enough pilots and are even training in russia and Pakistan for the new incoming platforms. so, use common sense and stop being ignorant.
Perhaps, news of sadf in nigeria will make your girlfriends cum as you've not being able to get them to. I dont get all the fuss
Facts are facts
and its not the SANDF in Nigeria - its South African contractors and we are trying to teach you how to use equipment, not how to operate or maintain it.
I cannot stress how big the difference between operating/maintaining equipment and using it effectively is.
I wish I knew the exact specifications so I could narrow down the list... all i know is that SAN want the OPV to be over 90 meters and be around 2000t or over, have facilities to house an organic helo, and be able to launch and recover said helo in sea-state 4.
These vessels are those which match the criterion (that I know of) and are from shipyards that have been linked to Biro.
Anyone know what the IPV specifications are? All I know is that they are to be around 300t to 500t
I personally like the OPV2600 (now that I have read up on it), the Avante 220 and Gowind. In my opinion the Lurssen is too limiting of a design
Istanbul Shipyards is also interested - suggesting that the MILGEM Corvette is an option, and this makes me happy because it is a beast - but not really what (i think) we are looking for
agaugust: Those Southies are fools on nairaland, South African mercenaries have NEVER flown jet fighters in their lives. Where is their airbase in South Africa and the name of the jets they fly? Chief those Nairaland Southies are the fools I said they are .
Paramount has a squadron of Mirages and a flying/training school
You are confusing technical training and tactical training. We dont teach you how to maintain and service equipment we teach you how to use it in combat
Your alpha jets are a joke and you have yet to show us that they can drop PGM's. Germany and France only use them as trainers.
agaugust: Chief EVarns, I stepped aside from this forum because South Africans could not stomach Nigerian militarys world class combat success rate at lightning speed of our final offensive, so the Southies began to mess up this thread with FALSE STORIES.
I left them alone to entertain themselves with rants, delusion, illusions and misinformation. Their problem, not mine.
Nigerian military seen in current training with white men are old trainings with Americans, or current training with Isrealis, Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, and Romanians, including experts from private companies that sold us new weapons like PGM armed night combat Alpha jets, T-72 tanks, BVP M80 IFV, RM-70 MRLS, Gazelle combat helicopters, and Puma combat helicopters. Many of our new weapons are purchased from private companies that have contracts to train Nigerian military on use of new weapons they sold to us, that is world standard, you sell me weapons you train me how to use them. Some training with the European weapon dealers is done inside the Nigerian NE war zone because we cannot withdraw soldiers and pilots from battlefield and send them to Europe for training on every new weapon we just purchased.
When the forum recovers sanity, I will be commenting again regularly. For now, I leave the Southies to entertain themselves with delusions and illusions...a fool will always be a fool, so why worry? .
First, the Nigerian military is terrible
This can easily and simply be conluded by the way that your neighboring nations: Chad, Niger, Cameroon et al have dealt consecutive and massive defeats on Boko Haram from almost the instant they joined the fight, while Nigeria has for the past decade has tasted nothing but defeat and setbacks.
Fact remains that your military is incompetant and needs to be trained by foreigners - whilst ours does not, furthemore there is plenty of proof that South African contractors are in Nigeria training your men.
lezz: relax, me boy!!! Nigeria has relieved south Africa of that burden. You don't have to worry about that.
This has been confirmed by Koffi Annan, the former United Nation Secretary General who is neither a south African or a Nigerian.
Nigeria remains the corner stone of Africa. Nigeria is the destiny of the African continent. Those were his words.
Nigeria has overtaken southafrica as the new investment hub.
And if you mention anything about economy again, I'll come biitch-slap your Soweto face. Southafrica's economy is a sad story. This isn't even news.
Your company and infrastructures are being ran to the ground by ANC administration and policy.
Infact whites are closing shops and selling off their firms because of your kind....FACT!!!
Lazy bantus, everybody knows you people are very lazy, lacking in entrepreneurial skills. You blame your failings on your whitmasters.
But Nigeria has forged and moved ahead.
Lastly, I hope you are man enough to own up to the fact that every single thing in southafrica is seen all over the world as done by white Anglo-dutch .
That's why we are your masters. We work it out and we are the only black country that has shown the world what blacks can do alone.
You owe us respect, you nitwit.
Stop wasting our time
Come with facts and citations
Until then, you arent worthy of my keystrokes
And Nigeria is worthy of nothing more than our pity and charity
Finally, this is a military thread. Post on topic or go start your own thread.
IMO the Gowind is the strongest contender, having signed an MOU with Paramount for domestic production, the versatility of the hull type (allowing it to be upgraded for use in low intensity conventional littoral combat due to the design including VLS tubes and modular upgrade kits for SSM's) and its fantistic "flex-deck" ability that allows the rapid conversion of the hanger and landing deck into a hospital, environmental disaster containment unit or extended barracks for SF by using containerized modules. Not to mention the inclusion of UUV's for mine-clearance.
EVarn: you didnt choose a 'slow and steady path' my friend, you chose the stagnation and sectarian violence path. we are already growing our economy by 6%,by 2020 when we have 40 000MW of power,we'd be growing by 10% or 11%,with a huge industry that would make japan whimper in fear. where will that leave you;a stagnant country flexing fat instead of muscles.
EVarn: our ECA wasnt 'depleted',it was shared among the 36 states{+ the FCT}.the opposition{APC} governors called for the equal sharing of the ECA amongst all states of the republic, they won their case, and everyone got a share.a few months later, the oil market collapsed. but even with the fall of oil,we are growing at 5.5%,while you are barely growing at all. cheers!.
We have chosen the slow and steady path so that we can drop our Budget balance % of GDP and controll inflation
You have decades of development ahead of you until you can come even close to us.
And you have to grow your GDP by 60% to have the same GDP PPP as South Africa
EVarn: lets see: *parliamentarians beating themselves into fleshy pulps *malema charging around the parliament like an enraged bull *police invading the parliament and hefting protesting MPs around on their shoulders like sacks of rotten potatoes, while they flail their arms and legs, baying for the president's blood. . somehow, that doesnt look like a country with "better government effectiveness and political stability"
Yes, but the facts are the facts, and factually speaking:
EVarn: tell them....even if a demon gulps down all our crude oil overnight,we will still have a strong enough economy to pioneer the affair of the african continent.
How will you if you lose 70% of your tax-base?
Since you are a simpleton, let me explain again: Your government loses 70% of its spendable money
EVarn: lol,you better dont let lezz hear{see} you saying{typing} this, you'd be washed, bleached and dry cleaned. africa has no "superpower",there are only: big countries like nigeria{and perhaps egypt}. struggling countries like south africa, kenya, namibia, ethiopia etc and small countries like lesotho, zimbabwe, togo, ghana etc.... Having the biggest economy is the best criteria to guage a burgeoning superpower{china has the biggest but not the most sophisticated, but eh..who cares?},Nigeria is growing at 5.79% in 2015,and an average of 7% in a good year.even despite fallen oil prices,we still remain the biggest, fastest growing and most attractive economy on the continent.that tells you that our supposed overreliance on crude oil was an exaggerated fluke.
I have absolutely thrased lezz when I had the time to spare with his frivolities, citation after citation debunked his asinine statements
With regards to your "economy"
Its big but ineffective - poorly taxed, unstable and based on highly volatile oil
We remain the top destination for foreign investment (infact, we are 16th in the world)
Furthermore, with regards to your over-reliance on oil is it not true that your government just had to devalue the Naira and cut budgets? Did you not just raise interest rates to a record 13%? Has your Excess Crude Account not depleted to $3-billion from $21-billion in 2008?
EVarn: i've noticed it,mzilakazi is always in denial when faced with truth. SA has always been doing everything in their power to downgrade and denigrate our gigantic economy for fear of losing its purported "super power" status on the continent....they are always provoking diplomatic face~offs between us.but in spite of it all,we are growing and they are sinking. who knows whether they are the foreign power helping boko haram with weapons, funds and strategy.jealousy is a very dangerous emotion.
We are still the only Black superpower in Africa
Having a big economy means nothing if you cannot do anything with it. And it means even less if it is based on a highly volatile commodity like oil.
lezz: I take it as an honour likening Evarn to Me. But I really don't care for your opinion or beliefs.
Point to note is that today Nigeria is no 1 in Africa and tomorrow still holds true of that position.
Sweden and other Scandinavian countries have a higher standard of living than the mighty US but you and I know you do not compare them.
So let south Africa use Sweden as her model and we shall use US and China as ours . In a few years time we shall compare who is more powerful and prosperous.
Lol?
Still saying Nigeria is number one after I spent days showing that Nigeria is inferior to South Africa in every conceivable criterion a nation is judged on?
You may have Africa's biggest economy - but that doesnt count for sh1t when you cannot tax it properly, South Africa has 3X the revenue you do.
We can outspend you any day of the week.
And now consider the fact that your infastructure is decades behind ours - and we are currently investing over $100 Billion in more
You guys will never catch us, we are the most developed, advanced and wealthyest, our people live longer, are happyer, are more free, more democratic, healthyer, better educated, have access to clean sanitation and electricity, free education, government support (the only African nation with a functioning welfare system) etc etc etc
lezz: first of I think you are a destitute of political knowhow.
your ambassador who is in most instance your president in whatever country that has your embassy cannot come on live tv and speak on an issue of international relations without having clearance and briefings of the situation in Pretoria.
there's no interference. your Judicial and criminal justice systems are rift with corruption. apart from Russia, southafrica is home to the world biggest organised crime syndicates.(over 700) and not up to 2% are ever prosecuted.
just like Detroit of America, so is southafrica decaying and falling like a dissolving cube of sugar. Zulu+ Bantu+ tswana = transformation of a progreessive apartheid southafrica into a jungle of disorder, corruption and mass murder.
lezz: you sound desperate and drowning, please do not hang onto that " I " there's an I in both mint and brics. one is for Indonesia and one for India. it's simple an error of a genius. So do not clutch on that like a dying man.now, the most advanced in brics is Russia, she still isn't not an industrialized country, neither is China and Brazil. India and south Africa are a frigging third world country. Russia is still being squeezed into the G7 by US as part of deal on arms proliferation
imfact UNAID, described your high crime rate as a typical example of a developing country. I repeat brics did not invite Nigeria. southafrica did because she knows she'll soon be an unqualified member.
Brazil is the biggest economy in southamerica, India is the biggest economy in her region, China is the biggest economy in far east and all of Asia, rusia is the biggest economy in Europe outside the EU. hehe olodo,
you are an itinerant, nairaland e-squatter with a brain size the length of a grain of rice.
Nigeria's industrialization is evolving in an alarming pace and that's giving southafrica the jitters.
French president just said that coming to invest in Africa without coming to Nigeria is madness. imfact he said for any investor to miss Nigeria, then he hasn't come to Africa.
we didn't really need to surpass you beleive me. southafrica is decaying by your very hands . from 1994 till today and to the next 500 year's southafrica is decaying and melting away. do not hang on the anglodutch southafrica Of the apartheid era.
that southafrica is long gone since 20 years ago. what we have now is a third world country of savage rapists, murderers, drug sniffing , brain-dead illiterate bantus, Zulus and tswanas who can't even govern themselves.
sales boy, mark my words today and see. now go write your waiting customers their receipts. slowpoke.
I love how wrong he is and how much he believes he is right
A long rambling post from an emotional little man in an irrelevant country
lezz: your brain really needs fumigation. brics is an association of economic and political desperadoes who need attention. they need all the big players to come on-board to make it viable. that's why your country is desperate to have Nigeria there. hehe.
Oya let's do this logical test. brics comprise Brazil, Russia, China, Indonesia, and southafrica. all these countries are there regions economic giant except southafrica . Russia and China aren't even in your league. you became a brics member when you were the no 1 economy in Africa
So what we have now is BRIC......lol.
First BRICS comprises South Africa, Brazil, Russia and China... not indonesia... you dont even know the member states and you want to lecture us about them?
They were chosen as they dominate their regions economically and politically
We are a permanent member, and we were chosen over Nigeria because we have a more advanced economy more global clout and respect
lezz: your ANC government can't even add two plus two let alone come up with an international scheme.
southafrica is rotting away son. we have bleeped you economically and in destination of FDI. any source you quote about the volume of foreign direct investment must be in 2013 and 2014 not later. that was when the table turned.
again southafrica's opinnion don't count internationally, the world doesn't care. your ANC is an embarrassment to Africa. Its policies and opinion are always out of sync with international expectation.
so if the Nigerian government nationalize shoprite, or dstv, the world wouldnt notice your yellings.
O look, he is giving us his opinion again.
No one cares, stick to facts and get on with it.
I dont think I need to remind you that we are a member of BRICS
