Henry240: It isn't what you need. You're too broke to even need.
It is only practical because you cannot afford aviation fuel. So you fly your Gripens less than 2 hours per month,
So you ground ground your entire Augusta A109 fleet.
So you store in the freezer half your Gripen fleet.
The only thing practical is how broke you are. The only thing also practical is how you only managed to raise only 9 pilots despite signing your Gripen contract 15 years ago.
The only thing practical is you fly museum pieces for MP duties.
You know what else is practical for the pathetic SAAF, 3 C-130's for 1.2 million KM area.
That's how practically pathetic you are. Hahaha This post is so emtional, i think it takes the cake as the single most emotional post ever made here!! I can see henry120 crouched infeont of his pc, sitting on a bag of ice (for the butthurt), angrily slamming the keys of his keyboard with tears of anger streaming down his face, cassawa juice dripping down his mouth as he mouths out the words he types Gripen fleet flys 5 hours per month per pilot (3000/40/14) which is in line with the flight hours the USAF gets Augusta are not grounded for a lack of funds, nor have they ever been No gripen are in storage We have 14 gripen pilots as that is inline with our needs, and unlike Nigeria we are prepared now for any potential future escalation of needs - we prepare for war in peace If we are broke, then the nigerian military is homeless, considering we spend about as muh as you do- yet we are half your size and are at peace The DAKs have modern engines and avionics C-130's needs are not dictated by the size of our country, and we keep 3 operational as we make sure we follow proper maintenance cycles Nigerian airforce on the otherhand is full of obsolete airframes, no capacity for modern warfare and is unable to maintain and operate the usless junk in your arsenal I am sorry that this makes you so angry, but facts are facts |

Henry240: I just could not help laughing at all your posts today. There is no way to spin doctor anything.
Those numbers keep parading were raked up by your Presidential Air Fleet. Not the larger Airforce.
You have no aviation fuel boy, it has been confirmed again by this article.
Your MPA's are 55 years old, true and actual museum artifacts.
You sent 1 C-130 to Lagos, leaving a paltry 2 C-130's for a country with a 1.2 million kilometre area.
Somehow this clown thinks it's something to be so joyous over.
NAF deployed 2 C-130 and 2 G-222's to mali. NAF C-130 and a french military C-120 in mali
The SAAF should be competing with the Airforce of Malawi or somalis Prove 18 000 hours was flown by the VIP fleet NAF doesnt have the airfleet to get men to Mali abd you abandoned your men in Sudan because you couldent fly them home 22000 hours of flying time allocated means we dont lack aviation fuel DAKs have modern engines and avionics You dont have a leg to stand on SAAF>NAF |

Henry240: Wishful thinking. Your supposed review is literally gathering dust in your parliament. your Government should be more concerned with paying off the 40%, in loans, it still owns from a 1999 ego boosting spree that has left the SAAF with only 9 pilots, no aviation fuel and a severely weak Airforce.
3 C-130's to cover over 1.2million KM, you clowns need to snap off your hallucinations. Not even going to bother responding to this trash |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 4:42am On Dec 19, 2014 |
Henry240: There is ample proof you have no more than 9 pilots.
You have only trained 18 Air crew members in 15 years.
You have 9 D models, it translates to 9 Gripen pilots and 9 navigators.
SAAF has only 9 pilots for their fleet of Gripen Jets.
FACT.
Run away from it Hide from it Deny it
It is there, and it sure ain't leaving. No, this is not a fact This is not proof 14 operational gripen = 14 Grip pilots |

Show us specs of the OPV you want to buy and show us the ghost companies that have responded to your cashless, penniless and Rand-less tenders.
Nigeria has also tendered for 10 stealth P18N from same manufacturers well known in China and Song Class submarine has been presented to us by the same manufacturer...
South Africans are here boasting about ghost OPVs, ghost manufacturers, ghost funding, ghost everything! . A400 was cancelled because airbus broke their contractual obligations to us, and we are likely getting the A400M anyway We have posted the list of shipyards conpeteing for the OP Biro tenders You have not contacted the chinese re 10 new opvs Same appliea to the song sub |

Second problem is that South African military have NO SINGLE Mokopa in service . First problem is that both ships have massive blind spots where they cannot defend themselves from Second, if we need it we get it. Its integrated. |

agaugust: Bwahaha
The air target in that argument was F-7 jet with speed over 2,000 km/h but now the air target in this new argument is a snail slow Lynx helicopter with 280 km/h speed that even Racing cars in the Grand Prix can match !
You don't know that gun effect on air target depends on aircraft speed, so you k.illed y.ourself....Mumu Durango . lynx max speed is 324km/h you will need to fuse the shells manually lynx will be bobing and weaving so shells will never be fused properly Thus you have to score a direct hit on a target you cannot even see and which is far more maneuverable than an F-7 Plus, what happens if you are attacked from the rear of the vessel? Your vessel has a massive blind spot where the gun cannot fireA simple Lynx can cripple your finest vessel. |

agaugust: I did read my posts for sure, I read it so much that I even made it into photo screenshots for Nairaland to see.
SAAF had only 4 Jet aircraft in Lion Effort, for the 4 capable good pilots, the other 4 pilots belong to the drum beating trumpet blowing supporters club bench warmers.
So your pilots are NOT the same class, 4 good, 4 crap = 8 Gripen pilots.
Go see Lion Effort profile pages of SAAF pilots and see how many of your 8 pilots have real life combat exerience since the day they were born, the counting will embarrass SAAF . Nope, you didnt read you said 4 pilots You cant dig your way out of this hole learn to read. |

NighttWalker: FN F2000 and P90 are great guns with good range and awesome firing rate but we have both I don't know if that's enough but I'd like get them maybe HK G36(first pic) get our snipers in NE Barrett M82 (second pic) the SV-96 is good but this is a bad boy and finally take AKs from our police and give them A Kriss Vector (third pic) and I know Kriss vector is a pistol so if u guess its not good enough the can get MP5 (4th pic) - G36: barrel melts the rest of the gun with sustained firing, optics are shite, its heavy on maintenance (the germans dont like it and complain bitterly about it on /k/) -Barret is overkill for a sniper-rifle unless you are going to be doing consistent long range shooting (like in Afghan) or sniping in anti-material role, also that big cartridge makes follow up shots and concealment a problem. I would suggest an alternative, but there is no single weapon to fullfill the "sniper" role. A mix between battle-rifles, bolt actions and anti-material is best. -SV-96: I dont know anything about it -Vector: very overated, weapon "wobble" during fire degrades parts heavily. If they can work out the kinks it will be great, but until then its a failed execution of a fantastic concept. MP5 is the way forward, but the UMP-9 is basically a modern MP5 and that would be the better choice IMO |

Henry120: A gradual replacement is fine by me. I doubt the Nigerian government would approve a wholesale purchase of 170,000 rifles in one fell swoop. If the gun were to be replaced, you would know, because a factory would be built to do so |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Patchesagain: 2:42pm On Dec 18, 2014 |
Henry120: I don't think so at this point. It all depends on how well the rifle performs. This first batch of 1,000 units would go straight to N.A SF units. The remaining 5,000 additional units would be giving to N.A COIN based units.
Since we specifically asked for the 7.62mm Ammo, I see the army much later replacing the AK's with this rifle. It makes sense get the 7.62mm as we only recently completed installation of two 7.62mm production lines at DICON. Replace and Ak-47 with an Ak in a new skin? Doubt it will be an army wide replacement, just a more refined and versatile AK for specialized units. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Patchesagain: 2:40pm On Dec 18, 2014 |
Henry120: Good news, I just read it's the M762 version. We are also going to buy up to 5000 of them. Our version would for the more powerful 7.62mm round, unlike the weaker 5.56mm. 5.56 is better. More controllable and thus more accurate, lighter so you can carry more of it and so on 7.62 is only really suited for battle-rifles like the SCAR-H Battle-Rifles full a different role to assault rifles. Modern doctrine is calling for smaller more controllable weapons, hence why the americans are using mainly M4's these days |

The other 4 are extras, bench warmer spare pilots in reserve at Lion Effort

Your Airforce is virtually non-existent. Your origional post says nothing other that aircraft that are a low priority are not fully operational and that aircraft about to be replaced are old. Wow, good job Cpt Obvious. 18 000 flight hours Deal with it |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 1:45pm On Dec 18, 2014 |
Henry240: Do you think "14" pilots can fly 26 Gripens?
You only got 9 Gripen pilots, shame. Prove it. We have 52 Hawk pilots, double the number of Hawks. Just one conversion course and all Gripen and all Hawks will be combat ready. Unlike you, we prepare for war while at peace. The Nigerian solution would be to say "oldo dese here flyan machina be da much expensive! We sell da flyan machinene!!" then when war comes (like now) you dont have the gear you need (like now) and an enemy you should crush (like now) kicks your a** (like now) until you can buy the equipment you need which takes months to arrive and years to get full operational (like now) |

Answer the question, 14 pilots, is this a number to be proud of? Its what we need. So its nothing to be proud of, nothing to be ashamed of, its practical. Unlike Nigerians, we South Africans are not an emotional people. Also, day 2 of waiting for proof we only have 9 |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 1:41pm On Dec 18, 2014 |
Henry240: Considering your pathetic state, the SAAF should sell off all their assets, not just the Gripen. Excerpt you want to start up a museum with brand new fighter jets.
If you cannot afford aviation fuel, what can you then afford?
"The real situation of the SAAF, no holywood make believe". We can afford 14 operational 4th Gen Fighters. Nigeria can afford zero We can afford a biger operational helicopter fleet We can afford 22 000 hours of flight RSA has 3X the money of Nigeria, we are at peace, we are running our armed forces accordingly. Your wartime NAF doesnt compare, and never will. |
