Politics › Re: Igbo Started Tribal Politics In The South; Fani Kayode by PaulJohn1: 9:37pm On Oct 27, 2012
At times, I wonder what some old Nigerians are up to.
Are these people thinking at all?! for goodness sake. Now because he has said "Igbo's started tribal politics", is that going to change anything? the best that can happen is more tribal bashing and advancement in hatred towards each other.
The same way the old prof some recent weeks brought up a baseless assertion from the pit of hell.
If we continue like this I wonder what the generation unborn would look like. Already, our generation has been compromised by the barbaric mind set of our elders who should have been the ones to set a solid foundation that would help us attain a greater height in the world at large.

The world is moving fast and we need to be at the same pace. Alas, we're still at logger head on who did this?, why was it done like that?.
The annoying part of it is that; we younger ones seem to be worse that those who passed this to us, just from the comments on this thread.
We can't continue like...

Wow! an extraordinarily Excellent article. Almost all the points there are very correct and solid.
I concur to this, personally I do see some faults in the way ACN as a party do their things. I wish the article is able to reach the party leaders of the ACN, to make them adjust in some areas.
They should know S/West vote is not so cheap, that can be gotten easily by hiding behind "regional party" and using this to convince the great people of the region.
But I'll say this like i've stated in one of the threads; "the worst ACN governor is in a mile way preferable to his predecessor in any of the state they're in control"
Agriculture › Re: Lagos Partners Songhai To Develop Agriculture by PaulJohn1: 2:06pm On Oct 27, 2012
felifeli: These ACN governors want to drive aboki out of business ni ? grin grin
That's not the aim. It's just that we can't keep putting our lives at risk for the fear of food poisoning.
Over 70% of our local produce(agriculture) are from the North.
We've realized the future risk this might lead to, that's why we have to make this move

We know the rate at which the price of food increases on any slight crises in the North. Don't you think it's insane if we keep on dulling ourselves but letting this people handle what human can't live without?!

Mind you, it's the wrong way we took civilization that made us forget our heritage(agriculture).

aribisala0: you bother about what you like and let me bother about my bothers. People need to learn to accommodate views that are diametrically opposed to theirs without abuse ...
No one has in anyway expressed hostility towards your views on this thread. But it seems you're the one who's feeling your posts are been intimidated when you've gotten no strong facts to back up your opinions that are been proofed to be erroneous.
At first Gbawe made a point that made your post look shabby. You later twisted it, but didn't get it right. Now you're complaining "people need to learn how to accommodate others view"
Your obsessions can be seen clearly wink

I think you shouldn't conclude because of a scene you witnessed.
On the same Ikorodu road, just yesterday I used the pedestrian bridge. Not just myself alone, along with lots of people.

There is even a part in ketu you can't cross the road on you foot, except you use the pedestrian bridge. LASTman is always there for you wink
Politics › Re: Lagos To Harvest From 10,000 Hectares of Land Acquired From Other States by PaulJohn1: 9:54am On Oct 27, 2012
I've always wondered what some people's obsessions are with the S/West. There is no single achievement made from the region that you won't see them jumping around to make the innovation look fake and worthless.
Well may be we should conclude it's another level they've taken inferiority complex to in their mind.
Instead of looking in their direction and check what's up in their backyard(home state), no. It's all about S/West.
The questionable part of it is; you stay in a place you don't want progress for.

You're correct.
We all know how much regionalism can save the nation, but the write-up is against been regional in person and not the practice of regionalism itself.

Now you've realized your fault, the next is to make it political cheesy

Be objective once wink
Politics › Re: Obasanjo Seize 10 Lag Buses After Fashola Impounds His Vehicles by PaulJohn1: 8:55am On Oct 26, 2012
Ade0001: @Onatisi: While I agree that an ex-President / retired general deserve some respect, he should also strive to be good example to the younger generation.

OBJ is reminding us once again that laws in this country are for the poor masses only. He should bury his head in shame that a delivery van belonging to his farm flouted the law, and all he could do was trying to use personal recognition to effect the release of such. It would have been a different story if the vehicle involved has been his personal vehicle conveying him to an important engagement.

Only in Nigeria will a leader shows contempt for laws and still be proud about it. God help our generation.
Amen

A right thinking fellow, may your god(s) bless you and your generation

onatisi: ...u are talking about respect dont you think that obj vehicle should have been released based on his status in the society? this is a political move by the acn in lagos to ridicule obj and baba isnt taking it lightly
Well, if you say I didn't read through, na you sabi.

For the part highlighted, so because Obj's driver drove against the law his car should be released base on his status?
"And that's the quality of a good leader?!"
Commit a crime and go scout free.

onatisi: ...if it was tinubu car that was caught by lastma wouldnt it have been released immidiately?...
What's my business with Tinubu? I'm not an apologist to anyone, if you're one to obj I'll like you to explain these

Paul John: ...This man had issues with Gbenga Daniel, Fayoshe, Tinubu now Fashola, oh! just remembered one young musician they were both exchanging words too. Is he not tired of all these kiddies quarrel?!...
Education › Re: Nigerian Student Breaks World Record, Scores 4.0 / 4.0 In Turkish University by PaulJohn1:
“ Admissions should be done on a per semester basis. I will advise that the Federal Government should try to provide constant electricity. This, to me, will automatically eradicate about 50 per cent of Nigeria's problems. Also, a simple advice for all students is that the road to success is not on a straight path. Patience is a very important virtue that should be put to good use.”
The part in bold is a good point.
I heard a private university(Bowen University, Iwo) in Nigeria has started it already, It's only for post graduate program though. Our universities need to emulate this, not just for post graduate programs alone but first degree as well. It helps in reducing time wasted in seeking admission by our high school graduates

A former president of the Federation for that matter.
Your driver went against the law, your vehicle was impounded, the next thing is to take an unreasonable step by seizing buses meant for the masses convenience?

Politics › Re: Is It Bad To Be Regional? by PaulJohn1(op): 2:37am On Oct 26, 2012
It's not a crime for Awo been regional. He was the head of the old Western region then, definitely he has to show his pledge and concern for his people.
I think those who think it's bad to be regional should have that thought that a regional man had to regional since it was his assignment before hoping for the head of state, which he'll transfer to patriotism if higher assignment(of head of state) is given to him.
Politics › Re: Is It Bad To Be Regional? by PaulJohn1(op):
From where I qouted the write up, the topic says: "It Is Bad To Be Regional"
But I had to edit and put it in form of a question because I disagree with that heading.
How can someone just conclude it's bad to be regional?!
Politics › Is It Bad To Be Regional? by PaulJohn1(op):
I have followed the argument of those canvassing that President Jonathan should contest for the presidency in 2015 and some other groups who are making a case for their own persons or areas to take a shot at the highest office in Nigeria. Most of those for and against are actually repeating the same mistake of reducing the institution and office of president to a narrow regional representation.

Historically, no one has ever campaigned on a regional platform and succeeded in getting to the office of president. And anybody or group that does that now is only starting an idea that is dead on arrival. Let us go down memory lane to prove that it is bad to be regional.

Chief Obafemi Awolowo might have been the longest aspirant to the highest office in Nigeria. He was very disciplined, meticulous and hardworking. He had very good plans and maybe one of the most prepared for that office. But since his selection and recognition as leader of the Yoruba, he lost any pretention to national platform or national appeal.

Chief Awolowo couldn't get out of his ethno-regional cocoon and was so contemptuous of national dynamics, in 1979, he even chose his running mate from the same southern Nigeria, Chief Umeadi, ignoring the delicate balance to cater for sensitivities and engender confidence. He died without realizing this ambition. It is bad to be regional.

In contrast, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo started from one of the most national institutions in Nigeria: the Nigeria Army. He built enduring friendships and lasting relationships across the country and beyond. He has never identified himself as anybody but a proud Nigerian and a great African. His kinsmen, the Yoruba, even rejected him in 1999, the first time he contested for the office of president. That did not stop him from being overwhelmingly elected as the second executive president of Nigeria that year. It is bad to be regional.

Before him, there was the case of the late Chief MKO Abiola of blessed memory. Abiola never identified himself as a sectional, regional or ethnic champion. In fact, he got chieftaincy titles and awards from virtually every tribe or section of Nigeria. He built a great economic empire that was providing employment and means of livelihood for people all over the nation. His philanthropy and generosity was legendary.
