RomanceRe: Role Of Giving In Relationships. . . by pauloman(m): 7:59am On Nov 20, 2011
MRbrownJAY:
the answer to that question IS very simple and closer to home:
A) look how men in 9ja are quick to say that:"all they have to do in life is MAKE MONEY and all their problem of finding a mate will be solved" so i am safe to say that, it teaches women that men will splash their cash to get them as soon as they "make it big". thus sadly, teaching them to expect that from men.

B) also many guys out there aint got nothing to offer women than gifts and outings where they pay for food etc. they have no communication skills, no "game", no qualities. they simply portray some false security (with their money), the same security that any women searches for. so in fact, they are just teaching women to be stingy and look for these "made men".

C) what is the first thing a 9ja guy does when he wants to impress a girl?! yep, he flashes his cash/status.

so from this three first points, we can clearly see that WE men are partly to blame for the action of these stingy women.
but also:

D) it's in our culture!! look at how a man must pay "bride price" before he can remotely think of marrying someone. it teaches women (from a very young age) that they have a PRICE on their head, and therefore men should reward them to have the privilege of being in their presence, let alone marrying them.

E) some 9ja women SINCERELY believe that dating or making love to us is a favor that they give US and therefore , we (men) must be generous and show our gratitude for that privilege.

F) some even believe that men should contribute to their upkeep because we dont want her to look raggedy, as if SHE only started to think of her looks the minute you started dating her, lol!

G) some 9ja women have double standards, they are quick to quote the bible verses where it says that men are considered the head of the household therefore we should be providing for their needs aka prove that we got what it takes to be with them. . . . . . . . . .but then are quick to want to be equal when you signed on the dotted line.

H) lastly, ask any 9ja woman (or her mother) what she believes is a perfect candidate for marriage and you are sure that his financial status will be close to the top reason (for the majority). in 9ja, most people dont value people or character, they value SECURITY OF LIFE. so money is like the password that you must show before you can be viewed as a potential mate. so if THEY (women) were generous, then they wouldnt be able to figure out if we were, or not, potential mates. you still following me guys? lol!

so in fact, most are clueless and the only way they can evaluate us is with gifts and "donations". you can be the best guy out there but if you have NO MONEY/STATUS, all your qualities will be invisible. . . . . . . . . . because, as many like to point out, qualities aint going to help them pay their tuition fees or BB subscription. to many, dating is just synonymous with having an extra income.

Do not ever depend on Government Retirement and please if you can start up a business before you retire or have some substantial assets in the form of cash, real estate and invest in your children. Plus get dual citizenship in case Nigeria messes up.

Hi,
I FILLED OUT THE YOUWIN APPLICATION AND SAVED IT BY CLICKING ON SAVE.I CAN'T SEE THE INFO I FILLED WHENEVER I LOGIN. WHAT CAN I DO?
That website is poorly designed. The same thing happened to me too ,mine was that i filled out the whole application page and clicked submit and i was told to authenticate my login details and low and behold all i spent hours typing disappeared and was never submitted. I sent a mail complaining and the replied back telling me to locate SMEDAN to help me out for the filling of the form, can you just imagine the crap ! This goes to show that the whole thing would be a Sham at the end of the day as far as i am concerned !

Well, mortgages dey for Naija sef. Just that it's like 20-26% on average, compared to the West where it goes for something like 1.5% in some instances.
I doubt any Nigerian on mortgage is smiling grin More likely weeping sef.
Helloooo, let me give u a little info u might not know bruv. The word mortgaging is dead on arrival at it stands now in Nigeria today ! The mortgage instituition in the country which is suppose to serve as a revenue base in the country just like in the oil industry is currently under-utilized due to a low/level activeness in the housing/real estate delivery system. The contribution of of mortgage finance to Nigeria's GDP at the moment is close to negligible with real estate contributing less than 5% and mortgage loans and advances at 0.5% of GDP compared to 77% in USA, 80% in the U.K, 50% in Hongkong, and 33% in Malaysia.
BusinessRe: Does Travelling Abroad Truly Guarantee A Better Future? by pauloman(m): 4:36pm On Nov 10, 2011
coogar:
this is because the houses abroad hold more value than the ones in nigeria. the people on mortgage would have paid for houses worth more than 100 million naira in the next 25 yrs while your house of 30 million retains the same value or even drop in price in nigeria. can you then compare the two? the people on mortgage pay small amounts every month like rent but after a certain period of time, it becomes their houses.

all the nigerians in the uk i know of don't buy cars on payment plans. what sense is behind such? cars don't ever appreciate. if you buy a car now and drive it out of the carshop and return it back after 5 mins that you don't want it again. the car is now 2nd hand and at least £1000 must be deducted from money you paid 5 mins ago.

so how many people died in the u-k riots? compared to the way police, robbers and crazy people kill at will in nigeria. what is the death rate of the motorways in nigeria compared to the uk? what's the life expectancy in nigeria compared to the uk/usa. because you have been lucky to be alive, you now think it's pretty much given and you can bounce as you please. you make me laugh. you don't value life and you don't know the value of security. the peace that comes with going home and knowing you will sleep in absolute tranquility without the menace of hoodlums or even mosquito.

you don't even need up to that 20-30 million naira to get a house here. as little as 2.5 million naira is enough for down payments here. then you can then invest the 27 million naira in a business in nigeria. hell, if you are scared of going into business where your money might be lost. put the 27 million in a fixed deposit in a solid bank. the interest you get from that pretty much pays your mortgage every month, and you are coasting!

that cash-driven economy has screwed up the brains of the average nigerian. this is why the politicians steal at will.
Well articulated bruv, WORD !!!

@ okija, well u seem to have it all planned out guy, love dat n i never actually doubted that in the first place. I only figured u might be following a longer trail which might have been shorter if u ask me.

Anyway u sound pretty determined and thats the best part. But on the issue of your citizenship, make sure you dont fall into the hands of fraudulent immigration consultants who help immigrants into obtaining citizenship crookedly because Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has intesified their searchlights on such consultants and also such immigrants too. Just a small words of advice for you there. All in all ,i wish you the very best bruva, Cheers !!!

BusinessRe: Does Travelling Abroad Truly Guarantee A Better Future? by pauloman(m): 2:08pm On Nov 10, 2011
My guy with all due respect to your hustle,if i was in your shoes i would have made far better success with your opportunities(not like im in a lesser circumstance). I have followed your post right from the beginning of this thread. You should have known prolly well dat your profession in the first place is on a high demand in canada and you only needed just some educational integration in the form of professional certifications an the likes in canada to get yourself fully ready for the canadian labour market (because your profession is a regulated one there) and then you start making your cool dols and living large even a lot more than you are doing presently. You only needed a few years of sacrifice to get there. But i think now you are just taking a longer route to the same destination. But i must confess that you were so damn lucky to have snapped ur present job at the moment when you got back to naija coz such dont come that easy bro. Also i shud add that u shudnt be so excited about acquiring a canadian citizenship just like that since you are currently in naija since your visa is that of a permenant resident, because for you to even qualify to apply as one you should have stayed in the country for a consecutive 4-5yrs without leaving the shores of that country. So what im saying in essence is dat u didnt utilize your opportunities to the best of it and now you are taking a longer route to it. Travelling abroad really is not a sure way to success but it sure gives better opportunities ,that is if the individual can utilize it well. One can actually make it in naija but its a tough ride,as you will be up against alot of the inadequacies and inefficiencies in the system. So you cant really compare hussling abroad and in naija at all as things work in the former.

PoliticsRe: Delta State House Of Assembly Threatens To Impeach Gov. Uduaghan by pauloman(m): 1:46pm On Nov 06, 2011
RoadStar:
It will surprise you to know that this is not the case
Out of the 25 LGAs in delta state, Anioma occupies 9
Urhobo and Isoko combined have at most 10
Ijaw has 4 and
Itsekiri 2

They are nowhere near a minority, infact they are majority.
Thank you very much Roadstar,u are very well on point. The issue of the Anioma marginalisation can not be swept under the carpet at all. Its an issue of day light robbery of the highest order. Indeed as pointed out that land mass might not translate to numbers, but what of natural resourses. The Anioma people are a major contributor of natural resourses, not just oil but others. I was travelling via the Anioma route to Asaba and i almost wept at the spate of development and backwardness in that area. I thinks its high time the Anioma land becomes recognised and takes its rightful place in the country. Please does anyone have any recent and upto date information about the situation on the pursuance of the Anioma Statehood in Nigeria. I mean how far it has gone.
PoliticsRe: Delta State Law Makers Adjourn Sitting Indefinitely To Protest System Failure by pauloman(m): 10:55am On Oct 31, 2011
The truth of d matter about d contractors downing tools is dat they have not been paid and they are being owed . How can they mobilise workers without being paid. The state owes many of their contractors . I went to the state house recently to see if my company can bid for contracts as an indigene of the state and i was told by a confidante that its not worth it because the Governor does not pay contractors and many of them are regretting it. Even the so called lawmakers should be able to impeach the Governor ,but because they are being given ghana must go they fail to do their work. Most deltans do not support this Governor and want him out, i wonder how he got there in d 1st place. Please let d people of delta set d revolutionary pace in d country dat has been long over due. Let all support dem in anyway possible, especially in their planned multitude protest.
