Nayah: I'm sure they'll modify her make up and so on like Sylvie Nduka to be more presentable..don't worry
My dear to tell you the truth no amount of skin or facial make up can remove the shouting physical flaws in her body like her drooping boobs and ass,fat thighs and big chicks. I think she is rather too olding looking and age is telling on her already. Except they take her to do a complete and major body makeover

Litmus: I see that my number 1 choice, Miss Rivers, came second and my number 4 choice, miss Abuja, came third. But,really, going by the pictures, Miss Rivers should have come first, Miss Ogun second and Miss Abuja third. Miss Cross Rivers- looking at the pictures - should not have placed in the top ten even. Her face looked too fat, her breast looked too low, her bottom looked too high and her thighs looked too thick and finally she looked too motherly.

Anyway congratulations to the winners and all the participants.
I so much concur with your opinion. The miss cross river looks quite old if you ask me and she obviously stands very little chance in the MBGN world contest. Even hearing her speak you wouldnt be too impressed. Am pretty sure a lot has gone down behind the scenes. Check out her facebook page and see how not so fantastic she looks. Isabella Agbor Ayuk.

waoooo...miss Niger got it going on . If she got the height and intelligence, then i think she has a great chance of winning the contest. But she still needs to trim down a lil to give her that model look and international edge. But i think she is the prettiest of them all with that her charming smile. Miss Abia , Miss Abuja and Miss Rivers may all compete for a close second but my number is Miss Niger

I do not think you are correct my friend. I was one of the dv2012 selected entrants that the result was cancelled last year and i checked the website on may 1st ,2012 at about 7am in the morning on sunday . They say according to their website that the results should be checked by may 1st so once it is may 1st in the time at USA which is about a 5 to 6hrs difference frm naija time the results will be automatically released and the website will be open for people to check with their confirmation numbers. Goodluck to everyone on may 1st. Cheers !

I sure would when i get married and as a matter of fact, i think there should be some kind of bill to encourage adoption of orphans into a growing family and of course mandating parents to not over populate the country with kids they can not take care of. This is suppose to enable a check in the already over populated country of ours where our so called Leaders have very little or no plans for the upcoming generations of this country....#just saying

RomanceRe: 25 & Desperate Or Is Gods Time The Best?! by pauloman(m): 3:32am On Apr 12, 2012
@op...it is good to have such goal to get married at 25 as u are wishing. The blunt truth is that a good number of gals reason this way which is good. But the irony of it all is that 90% of such girls are not even prepared for what they are wishing for. They probably might be physically, but mentally, emotionally, spiritually and financially they are never there. I met a girl last year and she was so crazy about getting married to me which i didnt mind doing because she was what i wanted too. But on venturing into a relationship with this girl,i realised how inept she is for that institution called marriage. You can imagine a girl that told me she was ready for marriage still wanting to club, flirting about with different men, still dresses like she wants to hunt any man that comes her way down...just to mention a few. The truth is a good man has a natural radar to spot a girl that has good virtues and is marriagable. So i my take is if you are one of them good girls from your tender age a good man would have spotted your and asked for your hand in marriage. Your words gave you away that you are so naive about the instituition you so crave to go into. You obviously do not have a mind of your own when you compare your frends that are married to yourself. To tell you the truth you really need to work on yourself before you enter into marriage because my take is you
would be a liability to a man that would want to take you as a spouse now. As such i pity all the guys sending their email addys on here because they read your post. Bewarned ! They would treat you like the other guys because i believe you have issues you need to work on as a person and one of such is your desperation. I wish you all the best though. Cheers !

Fhemmmy: I will advice you settle in Toronto, since your employment will be in Toronto . . . If youhave to settle in Niagara, imagine yourself driving one way daily for 90 mins and with traffic will be more than that . . . so that will be like almost 4 hours of your day in traffic while you are in office for 8 hours . . . that might be too much stress.

If you want a smaller town to settle because of your family or some other reasons best known to you, there are other cities within the GTA that will be great . . . Ajax, Pickering, Brampton are all that comes to mind, not too cheap though and lifestyle there aren't bad either
Hi fhemmmy, thanks a lot for ur time and responses. Please can u tell me what is the proximity estimate from toronto of the places u mentioned like ajax ,pickering n brampton because i just would be getting accomodation in one of those areas. I also want to find out if the $850 u mentioned as rentage covers,iS it just the apartment or it comes with other benefits ?

Fhemmmy: If you employer is in Toronto and your school is in Niagara falls, your arrangement will be a little strange.
How many days iin a week would you have to be at the office and be at school, what time of the day would you have to be at the office, i am asking this cos if you have to be in school, only for weekend classes and work full time, then, better for you to secure apartment in GTA . . but if you are at work weekends and school weekdays, better to have an apartment in Niagara, your arrangement will be a determinant factor.
But distance of Toronto to Niagara is not far at all, it is only 130Km and would be driven in an hour 30 mins considering that you are driving on a good road . . . cool
Ok nice fhemmy but i actually intend doing my masters when i come over to Canada. But i am landing first and getting a full time paid employment before i think of enrolling for my masters program in engineering. I am actually getting my SIN and after which i resume my full time paid employment with my employer in toronto. My going to Niagara is in fulfillment of the fact that ,that is my choice of location for settlement in my immigration file. But the employment offer is at Toronto. So i want to know if it advisable to get an apartment in Niagara or in Toronto.

Fhemmmy: There is nothing wrong in what is being advertised.
Also, if you know people that could help you secure an apartment before you land, there is nothing wrong in that as well.
Staying in an hotel for even a week before you get somewhere to stay could be expensive and might even be more than a week . . .
All have their pros and cons . . . But you could start looking even before you get to Canada, but you will have to liase with people that you could trust and who can trust you.
Cos let us assume i work with you and secure a place for you, how do i know you will like it, or will even act good while there.
Thanks for enlightening response . Actually securing a place when i am good to go to me is kind of going to be a temporary arrangement has i would need to gather myself together being that my work location would actually determine where my final abode would eventually be. I already have some kind of offer from a Canadian employer who have asked me to contact him once i am landed in Canada and the location of the office is Toronto area. So please i want to use this opportunity to ask if it is advisable getting an appartment in niagara falls considering the official location of the employer is in Toronto. Also what is the proximity of Toronto and Niagara falls like?

Well ,i dont really have links in the Ontario province if not it would have been a lot easier for me to work out an accomodation before coming like you rightly put it.
TravelRe: Nigerian Students In Canada: How Do You Survive? by pauloman(m): 6:53pm On Apr 04, 2012
Fhemmmy: That is not 100% true, you dont need home-stay to get your bearings.
Besides, no one ever said home-stay is not good, just that it is not cheap choice for students that can't afford huge expenses.

Getting an apartment to share close to schools are not too uncommon . . . Yes, people might get back room mates, however, they could get bad host as well in home-stay . .

there are always several ways to introduce one's business . . .
@fhemmy...which do u think is advisable for a FSW immigrant relocating to Niagara falls area in Ontario.....an hotel accomodation or what medlabgirl is advertising or ? Please do enlighten me. Thanks
TravelRe: Nigerian Students In Canada: How Do You Survive? by pauloman(m): 5:52pm On Apr 04, 2012
Medlabgirl: Justwise thank you for this excellent and informative post. I cannot help but comment on it.

For all those who are asking people to avoid homestays, I have to tell you that you are wrong!!! What you should say instead is choose your homestay very carefully. Yes we see a lot of African students get placed with Caucasian and even Chinese and East Indian families, and it’s quite a horrid experience for them. I am not saying that the families are bad, no, they are different from what we as Nigerians know. For example, a chicken salad (no not with all the orishirishi of a Naija salad, just a few bits of chicken in a lot of lettuce, with or without some dressing on it) is considered a perfectly normal lunch, whereas, you might be expecting Eba and Okra soup. Soup and sandwich, yes, a bowl of thin watery soup, (think meat stock in Naija) plus a sandwich (one half of two pcs of bread, with a slice of ham, and some lettuce for e.g.) is also considered a perfectly normal dinner, while you fresh from naija, are thinking Rice n Stew. Perspective is everything.

I have a very good friend who has in the last year or so started a settlement program for new families in British Columbia. She has now added a homestay component, and I will be joining her in this venture.

A homestay is crucial for a newcomer to Canada. When I first got here all those years ago, (I came as a landed immigrant, not as a student) even though I arrived Canada with over $12,000USD, I stayed with a Pastor and his family for four months, until I got my bearings.

The homestay we are offering costs only $650 a month. This includes a stay with a Nigerian family, offering Nigerian home cooked meals. You also have your own room, Internet access 24hrs a day, access to a land line, which once you start to buy phone cards will make perfect sense to you, laundry and cable TV. Most homestays have a computer available for the student as well, as well as TV's in their rooms.

I challenge anybody to try to find anything as affordable as this.

Compared to shared accommodations for e.g., first of all, let’s say you are very lucky and find a good roomie to share with, trust me this is not as easy as people think, your rent for your one room is say $350. You still have to buy a bed, blankets, pillows, a dresser, you need to buy kitchen utensils to cook, you need a microwave, you will also need a desk and a chair to study on, you will need a computer if you don’t already have one, you may also need a printer for all those assignments you will have to hand in, if your instructor doesn’t accept Emailed ones. You will need to buy a television as well.
You will of course also need to pay your bills monthly. Cable TV is at least $50 a month; internet is at least $40 a month. You will need to do your laundry at a Laundromat for about $20-30 a month, as most suites do not offer laundry. Then you will need to buy food and spend time to cook and store it. If you share a suite, most times you will also be fighting with a roomie about things like 'Did you eat my food in the fridge?" or How come you used all my toothpaste? If you get an apartment, instead of a basement suite, then plan to pay at least $450 a month for rent, plus all the other expenses listed above. You will also need to pay for your hydro bills, about $50 a month if you're good, and also gas bills, again about another $50 a month, so you are already looking at $700 a month, and you haven’t even bought food. All these only since you're sharing. Double or more that if you don't share.

I can tell you right now that one of the most critical things for you, arriving straight from home is going to be, who to pick you up from the airport when you first arrive, and who will have that first hot bath and warm meal as well as a comfortable place to stay when you arrive? Who will take you around and show you how things are done? Please your best bet is a homestay.

So please my friends, don't be too quick to knock that homestay. One dear girl who attends Simon Fraser University has been in a homestay now for 3 years, and she loves it. Her host family, yes Naija family, got her a job, and she's really happy.

The newest homestay who will be arriving in April requested a receipt for her payment (she paid for 6months) to be sent to the Canadian High Commission, as well as a letter saying that she had the homestay arranged, and that she would be picked up from the airport etc. This was done and she said she was asked about the homestay during her interview.

This homestay is fantastic for students and all newcomers to British Columbia, so if you are a student, or a new immigrant, send an email and I will be happy to set you up with a homestay. I look forward to hearing from you.

medlabgirl@live.com. Please put Homestay in the subject of your email.

Again thanks Justwise for putting this up. I think I will start up a new thread later this week, advertising the homestay and settlement for New families.
I am an immigrant planning to relocate to ontario soon and i really need your services. My email is ufeli_ocp@yahoo.com.Thanks

TravelRe: Canada Vs America Or Uk by pauloman(m): 1:39pm On Apr 04, 2012
I quite agree with those that mentioned Canada as the best citizenship. At the moment canada is almost set to overtake the U.S economically as at now they are almost at per. Canada as a massive potential to over take the U.S and there are lots of economic indexes to prove this like the life expectancy rate,GDP and more. What the U.S is enjoying at the moment is military might. Even when your measure the currency power the USD is only slightly above the CAD.

Canada has and enjoys a good geographic location being bounded by the U.S in the south but its being at the extreme north pole makes its atmosphere a tad too cold but its alright. It has a bit of deficit in its active working population but is fast making up for it with is vibrant and rhobust immigration policies. Also there is relative security calm unlike what you have in the U.S to me i would pick canadian to U.S citizenship any day anytime because it has massive growth potential and enjoys far less racial slur when u compare the two.

Well, for me i wouldnt wana call it that. I believe in a healthy and mature relationship there should be adequate room for openeness, sincerity and communication. If all these are not there then its either its not mature or there is a problem. Nothing stops a lady from communicating her feelings to her boy friend about the future of their relationship even if the boy friend has jitters about moving to the next level. What i personally dont like is when she tries to be manipulative and sounds so selfish about it all.

Mr Beaf do not try to support what you do not understand. I can confidently tell this forum that the whole youwin bullshit is a sham and an opportunity for people in government to loot once again. I have stopped a long time ago to believing there is any form of sincerity in whatever thing that is being organised by the government. This is not about GEJ as he may have the very true intention of organising such a laudable program but its about the people that will manage the program for him and would see such a project as an opportunity to loot.

You can imagine organising a project of such magnitude and the so called website that was designed for it is nothing to write home about in all aspect. You feel out an application and submit and it tells you stories without it being submitted. You also fillout an application and save to submit on a later date and on coming back to access it,you cant find it again. Is it not a shame and suspect that they intend giving out N50b and even an ordinary website to serve that need cannot be properly designed. The truth is they make it have all these loopholes so that they can confidently achieve their criminal motives ! SMH

MRbrownJAY:
you see,the above in bold is the reason why so many women BEG rather than go find a JOB (or something) to sort their lives. why would anyone expect to receive gifts etc to SORT THEIR LIVES?! if they really have problems, shouldnt they talk to their FAMILY (parents, siblings, uncles aunts etc)?!
think of this issue like the beggars at street junctions: instead of giving them kobos (which will keep them begging FOR LIFE), teach them to be self sufficient. . . . . . . unless you are the kind of man that WANTS your gf to depend on you.

we are the ones who teach these women to be OUR responsibility, by these silly acts. if a woman has problem, TELL/HELP HER TO GET A JOB, TELL HER TO GO ASK HER PARENTS, TELL HER TO SELL HER BB TO RAISE THE FUNDS, TELL HER TO CUT ON NONSENSE SPENDING. . . . . . . . . . the fact that she would come FIRST to you, before trying to sort the issue out in the ways i just mentioned (and you quickly oblige), is the reason why many become professional beggars.

when did dating meant that someone became your responsibility?! FEAR is the reason why so many men pay up.
- the FEAR that some other guy could help her and thus make you look like you are poor (that's your stoopid ego talking)
- the FEAR that some other guy could help her and thus get closer to her (that's your insecure self talking)
- the FEAR that she may do something crazy (like runz) to get the money (but then you are simply dating a who.re)
- the FEAR that because you didnt give her the money, the r/ship will be over (but then the basis of this r/ship is completely wrong).

NOTHING should happen to your r/ship if you dont give her the money, if something does then i am safe to say that you ARE indeed in the wrong r/ship.
btw: unless it is a REPAYABLE LOAN, there is no reason why anyone should pay someone's (they aint LEGALLY married to) school fees.
