The State should set up a pilot biogas project in Onitsha, collect biodegradable wastes from the market to serve as feedstock. The biogas generated should be connected to generators that will power street lights at night while the slurry generated will serve as an excellent organic fertilizer for farmers in the State.

Most ahithophels aka Yorubbas actually think Lagos is big especially when they bring SE in the equation. Not knowing that the smallest state in SE...Anambra is 3x of Lagos in actual landmass considering half of Lagos is water. If Lagos houses nearly 30 million today at only 20% usage of its actual landmass, Anambra will houses over 200 million at 20% usage of it landmass with existing high-rise building plan. It's currently only at 10% usage!

Let me cite Kenya as an example, Kenya do not sell oil but on a daily basis it exports tea, fruits, vegetables, flowers etc and that earns the economy millions of USD, EURO, GBP on a daily basis. Tourists from all over visit Kenya for their wildlife and beach resorts and they bring in hard currencies.

Nairobi, the capital has become Africa's conference capital and regularly attract international seminars and conferences as later this month it will host Tokyo International Conference on African Development and about 6,000 delegates are expected, just imagine the foreign exchange it will bring in, how many hotel rooms will be booked, food, taxi services etc.

Nigerians will certainly attend in their droves as one only needs to visit the Masaai craft market within the Nairobi CBD during the weekends to see many Nigerians who have been in Nairobi for one conference or the other buying artworks to travel back to Nigeria with.

This inflow of foreign currencies has helped stabilized their currency to an extent. It is us Nigerians there that is always talking about dollars what concerns the regular Kenyan with exchange rate!

Let me explain. First my Skrill is not linked to my Nigeria bank account and if l want to send to someone in Nigeria whose account is link to a dom account, I will have to upload funds to my Skrill account through my Kenya bank account, my bank will charge me 105 shillings per dollar but I can get the physical dollar from Forex shops and that l get at 102 shillings per dollar. The 3 shillings difference per dollar amounts to 13,500ksh if we are working with the $4,500 figure. That 13,500ksh translates to about $132 and from it, l spend $18 as transfer fees.

If am sending $4,500 down to Nigeria, l only pay my bank $18 as transfer charges and my person in Lagos gets to cash out the dollars from his dom account and sell in the black market but using Skrill for that transfer cuts me short.

I really love Skrill and have been using it to receive and withdraw money for the past 19 months as l do withdraw the Skrill funds into my mobile phone and cash out from the very many money agents around that is why Paypal has lost market share in Kenya though l read somewhere they want to go the way of Skrill so one can withdraw from their accounts straight to phones.

Though l do not know anyone into that route but since you intend sending to a relative to market for you, l will suggest based on personal experience that while looking for the best means to do the bulk shipment you look out for who is travelling to the US to help you travel with at least 5kg (you can offer to pay for the excess luggage). Your relative can use that while awaiting the main cargo to sample the market.
