PoliticsRe: Obiano's Reply To Sahara Reporter On Vegetable Export by Pavore9: 2:21pm On Aug 02, 2016
wawaboy1:
I BELIEVE HIM: IT IS IN THE BLOOD;

IF KENYA CAN MAKE $661.9 million IN 2015 EXPORTING ORDINARY FLOWER TO EUROPE: WHY CANT ANAMBRA MAKE MILLIONS EXPORTING VEG
For Kenya to achieve that $661.9 million frpm "ordinary flower" which by the way is more expensive than any of our local vegetables you need to see the what it involves before it gets exported. Nna don't mistaken it for those road side flower sellers because that is no where near what flower farms is all about in Kenya!

Watch this video of just one out of many flower farms in Kenya and realize that we have not even woken up!

Pls, expanciate more on the business plan, and also will it not be a disgrace, if my family and friends discover i am into transporting?
What is disgraceful in being involved in transporting? Are there not thousands of fellow Nigerians who are in the U.S supporting their immediate and extended family members through being truck and cab drivers despite their degrees?

I now have a good idea why some graduates are where they are today with no means of income! angry

See leave this yarns..

Obiano could have shut Sahara up once and for all by providing Photos of the farms, Bill of Laden, Export Duty/Exemption reciepts, Quarantine clearance, Freighting/shipping/Cargo reciepts, e.t.c..

Waybilling Palm Oil to Ugwu Hausa and Shipping Palm Oil to Europe and Amirika is not the same.

Even the way I saw those Vegetables packed, I doubt it would cross quarantine at the ports of entry..

This is an example of how farm produce are packed for export, not that thing I saw on Sahara reporters.

I have to be honest and say the Sahara reporters piece raised dounts which I already hadeven more. Me sef I am curious to know. Igbo or not, I hate being taken for a fool by anybody.
A 30mins TV documentary on the project showcasing their network of farms and farmers in the project, how the harvests are picked up and moved to the packing centre where they are sorted out and packaged then loaded up into trucks heading out to the Airport! This will be a good PR for the project.

They need to visit Kenya to understudy how their horticulture exporters run things and they are always eager to show off their operations on TV because it is marketing for them.

Can't forget one of those exporters showing the network of their Avocado farmers, how it is being harvested and transported to their packing centre with over 60 staff working there maintaining the best standard of hygiene, The Avocados being sorted, washed, dried, cartoned and loaded into 40ft contaiiners and headed to the port!

Anambra State can go further

When there are many with 2.1 still in the "mama thank you" situation. Graduates should think outside the box and engage their minds constructively as no matter how messed up the economy is, there is an opportunity waiting to be explored.
PoliticsRe: A Letter To The Igbos by Pavore9:
@gartamanta, we may not agree with the OP in its entirety but your alluding that because we are not controlling the deposits of limestone. coal and oil that is why we have not reached our full potential is very debatable.

Let us take Singapore that is now a first world economy as a case study, their currency is almost at par with the US dollar. As of 1965, it was looking so tiny and underdeveloped that prospects did not look good but It has established the economic status without having ANY natural resources that they even import almost half of the water they need from Malaysia and that has been the case since 1962 but look at South Sudan with the size that is 128 times the size of Anambra state and has huge deposits of gold, uranium, iron, copper, diamonds etc in addition to large oil reserves BUT life there is HELL.

What counts is what is in the head and not what is buried underground.

Who do the Igbos need permission from before establishing dairy farms in the South-east so we can produce at least a million litre of milk daily?

Who do the Igbos need permission from before establishing vegetable and spice farms in the South-east so we no longer need to go up North to bring in lettuce, Cabbage, cucumber, garlic etc?

Who can stop the Igbos from setting up biogas systems for cooking in their homes using waste from farms and the markets?

Who can stop me from setting up an aquaponic farm in my village in Imo State and be harvesting a tonne of Strawberries monthly, this which can easily be set up with the amount someone splashes on an SUV?

Once again the human resource is the game changer!
