For the WAFU Cup, the NFF should use most of the Falconets team (say 14-15 players) and a few of the older league players.

E go shock people when Alampasu is given a chance to man the posts for just one game and he also produces magic... Then talks will be on who to drop between Ezenwa and Ajiboye... because Uzoho and Alampasu will become untouchables... grin

Someone should just ask Rohr on Ebuehi... Lolll
Lol. In Ebuehi’s case, he will fit in nicely in a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formation because he has 3 lungs needed for the role.

But I’m happy that there is such competition for the GK spots. It will keep all keepers in contention on their toes, and result in very little complacency from them in the upcoming friendlies and training sessions.

I believe this is the first major tourney since the 1998 World Cup where no one is really sure about the World Cup-bound goalkeepers. In 1998, the big debate was whether to recall Rufai from semi-retirement or stick with Abiodun Baruwa and Willy Okpara, who both failed to impress in the then pre-WC friendlies.

Thus far, the three goal keepers for the WC should be Uzoho, Ajiboye, and Ezenwa. I'll include Alampasu in the 30-man prelim list too.

CHAN eligibility policy should be modified to to allow at most 3 players playing outside the domestic league as long as the players have not featured for country’s main team.

Also players who play in other leagues in Africa should be eligible.
I agree with the bolded. There should be no restrictions on African talent, playing anywhere in Africa, from featuring for their national teams.

PoliticsNigeria, 22 African Nations Begin New Air Treaty by PDPGuy(op): 4:06am On Jan 30, 2018
The country's aviation industry is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years following the signing of a liberal air transport treaty by Nigeria and 22 other African countries, MAUREEN IHUA-MADUENYI writes

With the formal establishment and inauguration of the Single African Air Transport Market in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Sunday during the African Union Summit, there are projections that many more Nigerians and Africans in general will take to air travel.

Statistics obtained from the International Air Transport Association indicate that the implementation of the SAATM will boost passenger movement in Nigeria from the monthly average of 774,000 to 1,171,400, an increase of 51. 3 per cent.

The SAATM, an open sky treaty that encourages the liberalisation of the rules and regulations of international commercial aviation to create a free market environment for airlines, is expected to pave the way for eligible airlines of the 23 countries to conduct their business into one another's markets and fully operate the traffic rights provided for in the Yamoussoukro Decision.

A report obtained by The PUNCH from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority revealed that 11,221,617 passengers passed through the nation's airports in 2017, representing a 26.3 per cent drop when compared to 15,232, 597 in 2016.

Within the same period, 38 international and domestic airlines operated 61,822 flights in all the airports across the country.

The number of passengers airlifted by domestic airlines, according to the document, represented 53.2 per cent of the total volume of passengers ferried within the period in contrast with the 72 per cent recorded in 2016.

While the NCAA attributed the low passenger traffic to the takeover of Arik Air by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, which led to the airline cutting off all its international flights and reducing domestic operations by 50 per cent, IATA, which alongside other international stakeholders encouraged the open air policy, said it would address most of the challenges associated with passenger movement.

The Regional Director, Member and External Affairs, Africa and Middle East, IATA, Adefunke Adeyemi, said Nigeria would be a major beneficiary of the implementation of the SAATM.

According to her, from a 12-country study carried out by IATA, there will be $1.3bn economic benefits of incremental Gross Domestic Product and 155,000 additional jobs through the liberalisation of the African skies.

She added that the benefit for consumers would be a 75 per cent increase in direct services, savings on fares of 25 to 35 per cent, time savings and greater convenience.

Adeyemi said, "Aviation is projected to grow by six per cent year-on-year in the next 20 years, which means so much opportunity to tap into. For Nigeria, aviation plays an important role in the economy, over 80 per cent of visitors to the country come in for business and there is still room for us to develop our tourism sector.

"The status quo is not working for Nigerian or African aviation, but the next 20 years are set to be exciting times for African and Nigerian aviation. The industry is forecast to show strong growth but these outcomes are not guaranteed so we must remain vigilant to those factors, which could derail this progress. Partnerships remain key to unlocking the potential in Africa and Nigeria to ensure these benefits can be realised."

The Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, ahead of the inauguration of the treaty, had urged stakeholders to commit to its full implementation and operationalisation, adding that the country needed to leap forward to become an effective global competitor in aviation.

He stated that as one of the pioneer signatories to the Yamoussoukro Decision and one of the 23 states that had so far made solemn commitment to the implementation of the SAATM, Nigeria had constituted a national implementation committee to review all the subsisting Bilateral Air Services Agreements to be in consonance with the YD, adding that the process of domesticating it was currently at an advance stage.

"Nigeria recognised the need to provide for enhanced traffic growth that will be an offshoot of the full operationalisation of the SAATM. Currently, some of the international airports are being expanded with the addition of new terminals; the government has also approved the concession of the major international airports in its efforts to reposition them for better service delivery," the minister added.

My exact thoughts too. This so-called Third Force could merge with 70+ other parties, and receive funding from the likes of OBJ, IBB and Dangote in order to become formidable next year.

Moreover, I also believe it is the fall-back option of both Donald Duke and Dankwambo, should neither of them get the PDP nomination. Atiku has a lock on the PDP nomination only because OBJ is no longer a member of the party, and a lot of the present PDP governors are sympathetic to his ambition.
TravelRe: What Is The Citizenship Of A Baby Born On An Airplane? by PDPGuy: 8:32pm On Jan 27, 2018
The question depends on whether the child is born over international waters, or over the airspace of a country. Generally, international (and some national laws) provide that:

If born in an airplane over a jus soli country, then the child becomes a citizen of that country. For instance, if a Nigerian woman gives birth in an airplane within U.S. airspace, her child automatically becomes a U.S. citizen because the US confers jus soli or birth-right citizenship.

If born over the airspace of a jus sanguinis country, the Nigerian woman's child will still be deemed to possess only Nigerian citizenship (assuming that the baby's father is also a Nigerian citizen).

Lastly, if the child is born over international waters, the child would be deemed as having the same citizenship as the parents.

Now, assuming that an American woman gave birth to a child over Nigerian airspace (and the child's father does not possess Nigerian citizenship), such a child DOES NOT become a Nigerian citizen because Nigerian practices jus sanguinis citizenship i.e. citizenship via blood. So, the child is still only a U.S. citizen.

Whatever amendment they make on the Electoral Act would only take effect with 2023 election because timetable for 2019 had been out before their self-serving amendment. Laws cannot be made in retrospect
The ‘retroactive’ doctrine only applies, generally, to criminal laws not civil laws.

Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what steps INEC will take if the amendment bill becomes law. Would they change their election timetable? Or stick with it, using the ‘retroactive’ argument?
PoliticsRe: Senate Plans To Reschedule Presidential, NASS, Guber Elections by PDPGuy(op): 6:02am On Jan 26, 2018
I agree with the NASS position on holding the presidential elections last, I'd suggest a little modification of their proposal.

In order to guarantee having 2, rather than 3 election days, the state houses of assembly and NASS elections should be held before the presidential and gubernatorial elections.
PoliticsSenate Plans To Reschedule Presidential, NASS, Guber Elections by PDPGuy(op): 5:46am On Jan 26, 2018
The Senate yesterday set up a committee to reschedule the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of presidential, National Assembly and gubernatorial elections. Senate President Bukola Saraki, who made the announcement, inaugurated a six-man committee of senators to reconcile the Senate’s version of the amended Electoral Act with the version passed by the House of Representatives.

By the Senate’s amendment, in 2019, the National Assembly election will hold first, followed by gubernatorial and state assembly polls while the presidential election will be conducted last. LEADERSHIP Friday recalls that the Senate had, in 2017, passed an amended version of the 2010 Electoral Act. Also yesterday, the House of Representatives equally passed an amendment to the Electoral Act to change the order of 2019 general elections’ timetable.

Consequently, the chairman of the Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Senator Suleiman Nazif, will chair the team. Members include, Senators Shehu Sani, Biodun Olujimi, Hope Uzodinma, Dino Melaye and Peter Nwaoboshi. Stating the mandate of the committee, Saraki explained that it was expected to quickly meet with the House of Representatives to harmonise the version of the amended electoral bill before it is finally sent to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent.

The lawmakers in the lower chamber, while considering the report of the House Committee on Electoral Matters, had amended the Electoral Act 2010, awaiting reconciliation with Senate.

It amended section 25 of the Principal Act and substituted it with a new section 25 (1). According to the section, the elections shall be held in the following order: (a) National Assembly election (b) State Houses of Assembly and Governorship elections (c) Presidential election. Similarly, section 87 was amended by adding a new section 87 (11) with a marginal note “time for primaries of political parties”. “The primaries of political parties shall follow the following sequence (i) State House of Assembly (ii) National Assembly (iii) Governorship, and (iv), President. “The dates for the above stated primaries shall not be held earlier than 120 days and not later than 90 days before the date of elections to the offices.”

Section 36 is amended to allow running mates of candidates who die before the conclusion of elections inherit their votes and continue with the process, an amendment which seeks to avoid the confusion which attended the death of Prince Abubakar Audu in Kogi State during the 2015 governorship election. LEADERSHIP Friday recalls that Prince Audu, the APC candidate, had died after the election and just before the result was announced in an election he was poised to win. The court ruled that the runner-up in the primary would inherit his votes and continue with the election.

DPC Demands Limit To Parties’ Registration, Lawmakers’ Tenure As the National Assembly continues with the ongoing constitution review, the Democratic People’s Congress (DPC) has called on the lawmakers to put a cap on the number of political parties that should be registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The party, in a statement by the national chairman, Rev Olusegun Peters, also demanded a three-term limit for lawmakers in the constitution amendment, saying most of them have not served the interest of the people. The party said that National Assembly should remove the clause in the Electoral Act which states that after 30 days of application for registration as a political party, the association seeking registration should be deemed registered if it did not hear or receive correspondence from INEC on the status of its registration application.

In the statement, the party called for the immediate amendment of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended, to provide a term limit for members of the Senate and House of Representatives which shall not exceed three terms.

It said this will make federal legislators sit up and make laws that will enhance good governance which will boost the well-being of the citizenry. “Some misguided legislators have turned the National Assembly to a house of commotion, corruption and retirement home where they make laws to satisfy their insatiable lust for power and wealth. Most of them have not sponsored or co-sponsored any bill since they were ‘voted’ into the National Assembly”, it added.

Serious questions for us:

When the Anambra airport (or airport city) is completed by 2020, and begins operations, do you think it would be economically viable for the South-east to have two international airports?

Secondly, with the proposed design and facilities for the Anambra airport, would it be wise to move international flight operations from Enugu to Anambra?

With the way Collin Udoh described Ojo’s performance against EQ Guinea, Rohr might consider him for a place, at least, amongst the initial 30-man WC list.

The more quality midfield options, the better for the full Super Eagles. Of course, if he is named in the final 23-man list, he won’t be a starter.

On 18th of January, boeing 787-900 dreamliner landed at Enugu airport.

Which other type of aircraft cant land at enugu because of the distance of the runaway apart from A380?
Maybe Boeing's Dreamlifter, which transports parts for its passenger planes.

Interestingly, a B747-8i, weighing 98% of its maximum landing weight needs 2000m or 2km of runway as its minimum landing distance. So, a 747-8 carrying about 350-400 passengers can safely land in Enugu.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by PDPGuy: 1:33am On Jan 21, 2018
^^
The 787 only needs a 1.9km runway, which is its minimum landing distance. The landing distance is always longer than the take-off distance.
And Enugu's runway is about 3km long, so there won't be problems for that plane to operate in and out of Enugu.

The shut down will not affect essential workers ie postal workers, active duty military personnel, prison guards, federal law enforcement personnel, air traffic controllers etc. They will be required to show up for work, but unfortunately, will be working without pay.

Moreover, US federal employees deemed as non-essential, will be furloughed ie such workers will be told not to resume work as long as the government is shut down. As many as 850,000 workers fall into this category.

The current shutdown could cost U.S. taxpayers an estimated $6 billion per week. Ouch!

I don’t get why Trump and Republicans want to deport people who contribute to the federal treasury? It belies logic to me.
Foreign AffairsThe United States Government Has Officially Shutdown by PDPGuy(op): 6:23am On Jan 20, 2018
Much of the federal government officially shut down early Saturday morning after Senate Democrats, showing remarkable solidarity in the face of a clear political danger, blocked consideration of a stopgap spending measure to keep the government operating.

But senators from both parties were scrambling for a new deal to reopen the government quickly, possibly just hours after the midnight deadline passed.

With just 50 senators voting in favor, Senate Republican leaders fell well short of the 60 votes necessary to proceed on the spending measure, which had passed the House on Thursday. As the clock ticked toward midnight, when funding for the government was set to expire, senators huddled on the floor of the crowded Senate chamber, searching for some way forward.

But even if the Senate had adopted such a bill, it would also have had to pass the House, and lawmakers simply ran out of time. The government shutdown was one year to the day after President Trump took office.

“Senate Democrats own the Schumer Shutdown,” the White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said in a statement. “Tonight, they put politics above our national security, military families, and our country’s ability to serve all Americans.”

Democrats countered that Republicans were responsible for the management of a government in their control.

“A Republican president occupies the White House, and Republicans hold the majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate,” said Representative Nita Lowey, Democrat of New York. “It is outrageous that, even with unified control of government, the majority could not chart a course toward keeping the government open, the most basic responsibility of Congress.”

The Senate’s vote, late Friday night, came after a day of budget brinkmanship in Washington that included a last-minute negotiating session between Mr. Trump and Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Democratic leader. The 90-minute meeting produced progress, both men said, but no deal. Just hours later, it appeared to collapse.

Well, the definition of "indecent" dressing is not as clear cut as we think. If a man cannot control his libido because he saw a woman wearing a mini-skirt, and attempt to sexually assault her, it is all on him. The woman is absolutely NOT at fault. Thus, I do not see the reason why Tastebudz should be harassed on social media just because some perverted men, who cannot control their libido, are turned on by her outfit.

By the way, I've already watched a video of Daddy Freeze and his girlfriend/fiancee where she was wearing a skirt. I still cannot see what turns a guy on from her outfit. undecided. "Leading someone to sin" is a very subjective phrase which could be used by rapists to justify their crime to ignorant and unlearned folks.
