FamilyRe: Should A Woman Ever Propose To A Man? by Pedagogue:
Since d Op is talking about marriage proposal by a woman in a relationship and not relationship proposal by a woman, I think the answer will largely be based on the nature of the relationship in the first place!

1. If the relationship is a long one (and the parties are mature enough) , and yet the man has not popped the question...my dear lady, heaven helps those who helps themselves! Since the relationship is long enough, all what the lady needs to do is to be discussing wedding plans with the man...I.e 'let's start preparing for our wedding' ' I want us to have a lavish /small wedding'..by making it fait accompli, she will know the stand of her man! She does not have to use direct words like 'Will u marry me' . That will give her out as a desperate simpleton!

2. If the relationship is not all that 'long' and the man can meet up with basic marriage requirements and he has refused to pop the question...my dear lady, we are in a 'desperate world'- I will suggest that the girl makes use of subtle and implied tactics...I.e ' I can't wait to get married to you' 'I don't see myself getting married to anyone else than you' etc. A lady should never tell her man (especially if he's Nigerian) that 'will u marry me' or use other direct words! Men pretend that 'it's nothing bad....'' But Consciously or unconsciously, d man will always make it very obvious that 'u popped the question' and he married out of pity!!!

Thus, no matter what, I think a woman should not pop the question...but she can do this impliedly! If ladies use this tactics,it will reduce the number of broken hearts- cos a lady that is not getting the right answers to her 'implied questions' will be able to advice herself accordingly - without waiting to be jilted!
Christianity EtcRe: Sister Biodun Kumuyi Seen In Heaven by Pedagogue:
1.It is quite possible that this 'dream' is the figment of the imagination of d dreamer...

2.It is also possible that there is nothing called heaven and hell!!!

One thing is however clear, No.1 and 2 are two different things.
We can decide to believe No. 1 or not!
But No.2 carries with it a weight no one should ever pay - HELL!!!

Many believe that there is no hell and no heaven! But friends, what if there is? Is it not risky to live one's life thinking there is no hell and die to find out there is!

And again, many disregard d heaven& hell 'theory' cos no one can say with scientific certainty that there will be RAPTURE...

But friends, lets attempt to answer this by looking at it from this angle- is death not similar to rapture? Since no one knows the date and time of both, is this not a significant relationship? Once a person is dead, that marks the person's 'rapture' from earth!! D subsequent ascension to heaven/hell of dead saints/ sinners after the blowing of d trumpet is only symbolic.
Once a person is dead, he/she cannot amend his ways-so, he/she will be judged based on how he lived his life b4 d time of death. The same also applies to people that are not dead before the trumpet is blown- they will be judged based on their actions as at d time of d blaring of d trumpet.

One curious thing about this heaven and Hell theory is that d 2 major religions (Xtianity and Islam) both believe in Heaven and hell!!!

D sum total of my post is - Let us live right in order to make heaven!!! Believe me, I'm a serial sinner...arguably worse than most ppl here...! But when it comes to heaven/hell topics/thoughts, I find it difficult to accept any suggestion of going to hell! Oh Lord, I really want to make heaven. Create in me a clean heart that will fulfill your heaven 'visa' requirements. All I need is HIs GRaCE.
EducationRe: July 10 Cult Attack In OAU, Ile-Ife by Pedagogue: 1:09pm On Jul 12, 2013
It's a pity that many of the posters here were not in ife whn d AFrika of Afrika ,d 'gbongbotiele' of Oodua and d Erasmus of Ife was killed!!!

This is without prejudice to other 4!!! D names of these men wil always resonate whenever mention is made of O.A.U 5 - because these guys were in one way or the other victims of evil men that invaded our 'ogba' then. That they did not hold a top SUG position like Africa shd not in anyway suggest that they were foreigners to our aluta then...

I was not only an eyewitness, I was fully involved in O.A.U as at that time- since NL is an anonymous forum, I'll refuse the temptation of giving further details.

I was drawn to contribute to this thread because i want to make some terse clarifications!

1. Some posters here said there were no cultists in Ife before 99, some said there were cultists ....D gist is both category of posters are right. Prior to 99, one can safely say that Ife never experienced any significant cult activity. Infact, Ife was very peaceful and no significant cult assault was recorded. However, one cannot still say that there were no cultists...D cultists in Ife were double faced. Some used Alpha club and some other clubs as their 'second face'. Infact, there were cultists in kegites club. Nevertheless, they were all too scared to 'show themselves' ...unlike the situation in U.I and some sister universities..
But this changed when one of d cult groups had a change of leadership...Their leader wanted to rebrand d cult group and make it as vicious as possible...this guy stayed in quarters and cut a larger than life image!!! Many later connected d guy to D VC because d guy and many of his friends stayed in quarters!!! But no one, and I repeat, no one can ever say with mathematical accuracy that d VC had a hand In d killings!!! Nevertheless, d timing of d killings and d reported closeness of this particular student did not favour Omole- d court of students opinion had already convicted him!

Back to d short story, Lanre ( d SUG president then) and others were carried away...we all felt that 'cultists cannot storm ife laye laye...' But before the actual killings, we noticed a rise in the number of guys wearing black shirts and yellow shorts ...Infact, I wondered aloud one day why a guy who wore a three quarter short cud wear an extra long yellow stockings to class...but since it was Ife, no one read any serious meanings to that !!! Thus, it was not true that there were no cultists prior to the killings....they were just not bold enough to show themselves (save for d pirates confraternity dt many SUG apologists belonged then...and d group was more or less like a petition writing group). But it is not true that Ife was their base...rather, U.I was d base of Eiye while Uniben was d base of d confraternity.

2. Africa and co were killed....it was not make a mistake- they were mainly killed (i think) because a rebranded cult group wanted to make a statement...they actually made d statement but they underestimated d response they got! So, their aim was not achieved.

3. No one can say whether Omole had a hand in it...but since we all knew he was bound to benefit frm the death of his antagonists, who wil not be happy to provide fatherly support to people that are interested in killing his enemies? But as a xtian, I have to be fair...Omole mite just have been a victim of circumstances! Students were looking for someone to 'pay' for d killings...no one cud av been a better sacrificial lamb than Omole who we really hated then !

4. Africa (in particular ) was killed because of some traitors...I will not say more than this!

5. I remember wiv nostalgia d role payed by Lanre...he sort of became an aluta animal after d killing! Before then, his leadership of d Union was not all that fantastic. But after, he became like a rabid dog....he institutionalised 'SIN' - students investigative network ( I sincerely hope they still have dt in Ife today).

6. After d killings, nothing was heard about this particular leader of d rebranded cult group...they left IFE. Till my graduation, whether black, white or red, no cultist was able to come up in d open or even in secret grin

7. What Africa and co paid with their blood WAs d liberation of Cultists that would have taken over the Uni- dt is what IFe students are enjoying till this day....believe me, cultists would have taken over IFE! D ife SUG under legacy then had no machinery of stopping their planned 'take over'. Fortunately for us and unfortunately for them, d massive plan to kill all known SUG leaders was their undoing...if they had used more subtle means of violence, iFe wud av been their den by now - this is because the collegial environment and d land mass of the school makes it very easy for students to operate.

8. This is another fact- None of d guys that shot Africa and co were arrested...they left after acting their 'film'. We could not use our ' of d greatest ife ' mantra to organise and confront the armed to the teeth cultists. Even Wale (I wonder where he is now ) who was d most notorious Aroite could not use his aroism to confront d gun wielding idiots..d guy broke his leg when he jumped from the medical floor....pls, dnt ask me where I was or what I did grin

9. Africa was shot - but there's a possibility that he was axed too! But since his face was dismembered, d axe was not d cause of death , d gun was!

10. Univ of Ife is the best university in Nigeria. This is d only uni in Nig that I cn boldly say will equip u in all ramifications. I am who I am today because of God and O.A.U....but I must warn, there are two categories of O.A.U graduates - d 'seselenses' and d ' mo wan be' ...where do u belong? For current O.A.U students, don't face your books ALONE...if u do, all what u will be rewarded with is mediocrity!!! But if u involve urself in worthy ventures, yours is d kingdom of heaven and earth grin. But while at it, use your brain o

Of d greatessssst pa won, I rest my case!

I still can't believe this- IS NAIRALAND A POLITICAL FORUM- that one cannot freely express his mind? If I'm not given a reason by the moderator why my earlier post is hidden - then my suspicion is true!!!
I have never gone against nairaland rules in any of my posts-so, I wonder why my post was hidden by whoever did it. Below is an abridged version of what I [color=#000099]wrote -

"Mr. President should save us the stale preaching of ' they will go to hell' . We know they will go to hell....but must they kill us all before they go to hell?

In Mr. president's Nigeria, terrorists/cultists kill brazenly and get away with it...the more they get away with their killings, the more daring they become! If in Nigeria, a group of boys could kill 60 policemen and no concrete thing has bin done since then... Will this not embolden evil men? Also, in GEJ's nigeria, suspected boko haram men waliked into a deeper life church and killed close to 23 people...I can go on and on with examples!

So, instead of GEJ sounding so religious, he needs to wake up to his number 1 responsibility- security! For instance, d President of America will abandon state activities if a single American is killed anywhere!!! But our own govt - all we hear are usually condolence messages (and it is usually through his spokesperson) .

All we need is a govt that respects human life! A govt that will do everything to protect Nigerians...A govt that can stop at nothing to bring killers/terrorists to justice! A govt that will treat the killing of a single Nigerian as if its worth more than a million of lives!
We don't need a govt that will always deliver sermons after mindless killings!!! A govt of JUSTICE is all we need - cos his sermon of 'they will go to hell ' has not in anyway deterred them from killing innocent people' !

And btw, d govt needs to 're energise ' d state of emergency programme - because it seems its not working"

So, how does the above post fall into d category of a post that should be hidden? MOD, I need explanations
CrimeRe: Two Children Kill Mother Over Witchcraft by Pedagogue:
The children are obviously suffering from 'African poverty syndrome ' .

If u are on NL , and u sometimes nurse feelings that your mum is a witch....PLs, stop watching Africa Magic Yoruba!!!

Let me also say this- if she did not use her witchcraft to kill u when u were a baby or when u were younger, why has she suddenly turned to a witch!!!

Well, I have a personal mentality- if my mum is a witch, she should kill me if it pleases her!!!

Ever wondered why Its only poor people that have witch mothers- THAT's COS THEY ALWAYS LOOK FOR Someone TO BLAME FOR THEIR PERSONAL FAILURES
PoliticsRe: Presidency Rejects Removal Of Immunity Clause by Pedagogue:
Ordinarily, d removal of immunity clause is plausible.

But let's pause a little to consider the significance,
Firstly,In a country like ours where dirty politics is d order of the day, don't we think it will further affect governance? Let's imagine the number of Cases ACN /CPC might have filed against GEJ by now- and a similar thing will be playing out in the states! And I'm very sure that many of such cases will be frivolous and vindictive.

Secondly, let's also imagine this scenario. If there was nothing like immunity clause, GEJ must have used EFCC against Amaechi. By now, Amaechi must have been arrested / jailed and subsequently impeached for trumped up charges!

Nevertheless, since immunity clause has d effect that ' d President/VP, Governor/Deputy' can do no wrong while in office makes it anti people!!! Thus, as it has been playing out, d clause is the singular reason why many of them bury their huge corruption deals while in office - and this makes it difficult for them to be prosecuted after leaving office!

Thus, I think there should be a balance- Immunity clause should be removed- but d way and manner prosecution of criminal cases can be brought against occupants of these offices should be made in a way that will leave little room for abuse
!
PoliticsRe: Civilian JTF, Boko-Haram In Gun Duel by Pedagogue:
Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gun powder!!!

What will happen to Dis Armed to d teeth Civilian JTF after d state of emergency?
U can't teach people how to kill and ask them to stop...it's just not possible!!!

All what d Nigerian military ought to have done was to mainly use dem for intelligence gathering!!! By sharing their combat responsibilities with some equally brutish civilians, I wonder how PEACE can ever return to d North!!!
D only way out is for them to keep them busy after d SOE by collapsing them into d Police force, civil defence corps or d armed forces!!

*********+*but how can this country survive after 2015? In d event of a Northern President, N/Delta militants will most likely return to d creeks and start bombing...In d event of GEJ's reelection , d highly militarised Northern youths will most likely launch serious onslaughts against d govt!!!

Nigeria, oh Nigeria- IT IS WELL WITH YOU!!!
PoliticsRe: Vehicle Rams Into Amaechi 's Convoy. by Pedagogue:
(singing) Amaechi, WON FE PA E, OLUWA WA...WON FE SE E LESE O, ERUKU WA...l grin grin grin

Jokes apart, I will not PRIMARILY join some previous posters that have linked the incident to GEJ! Well, uneasy lies the head that wears the crown...
Since it is no longer news that the President and Amaechi are not on good terms, any slight problem that Amaechi has will inevitably be linked to GEJ-Even if Amaechi is stooling, some will still say d President caused it...So, I'm not surprised! That is the way many Nigerians think.

But on a SECONDARY thought, anyone that knows the way Nigerian politicians think will never rule out anything!!! In Nigeria, anything is possible!
It is quite possible that the incident is the handiwork of Amaechi's political enemies or the sympathisers of his enemies...(not necessarily GEJ).

Whatever the case mite be, d fact is-there was an accident!!! Whether it was just an accident or it was an attempt on the Governor's life is another thing altogether....My advise to Amaechi- WATCH YOUR BACK!

PoliticsRe: PDP Vows To Regain Dominance In Osun And Ekiti by Pedagogue:
They are "BATTLE READY" ...ok, we've heard!!!

Is their so called battle in the interest of the teeming masses of these states?

What did the battles they won between 2003 - 2011 bring to these states?

Can they truthfully say the govt of Segun ONI is better than Fayemi in Ekiti...? Can they also sincerely aver that Aregbesola (though i do not like his personality) has not out performed Oyinlola in Osun?

Who are the likely candidates of the PDP in these states and what difference can their past/personality bring to these states. In Osun State, Omisore, and a former Minister (Chief Olasunkanmi) are said to be the possible candidates...What difference can one expect from these 'same of same ' politicians? In Ekiti state, Fayose and some other 'I have held positions in the past' politicians are said to be the contenders!!!

Albeit I have many things to fault in the govts of Aregbesola (Osun) and Fayemi (Ekiti), I still believe PDP is no viable alternative in these states...Moreover, the fact that majority of Yorubas deeply resent the PDP government at the center will also not help their cause!!!

D 2 elections will definitely be seen as 'do or die' by both d ACN/APC and PDP...If the incumbents win, it wil be a good plus for APC. If they lose any of d states, PDP and GEJ will feel they have a sense of belonging in d South West in 2015! To be frank, I do not see the latter happening.

*D situation in Ekiti State is however slightly different...in my view, Opeyemi Bamidele (who is likely to decamp from ACN to LP) will pose a bigger threat than PDP*
PoliticsRe: Okonjo-iweala, Saharareporters In War Of Words Over Nigerian Economy by Pedagogue:
"Academic excellence does not make one a good manager of an economy, especially when such people are not grounded on socio-economic realities of the economy"

Well said bro.

Using economic policies that were designed and formulated by foreigners for their societies will not have the desired effects if imported to a different terrain...this is particularly so if there's a tangent difference in culture, infrastructural development, means of livelihood, work ethic, nationalism etc

Her credentials as a former world bank VP has not worked any magic here!
How can she even improve our economy when her policies bear the imprimatur of IMF and World bank Chiefs! No country has ever and can ever be developed through that route!

@ Op, every 'news' on Saharareporters may not be credible - but I'm @ least glad they always bring our leaders down to their knees!!! That is something our over conservative newspapers do not do!

PoliticsRe: Govt Merges EFCC, ICPC; Scraps BPE, NAPEP, Six Other Agencies by Pedagogue:
[color=#000099]Let's look at it from 2 angles.

From one end- it is a very good move.It will save Nigeria unnecessary duplication of agencies which has d attendant effect of huge financial burdens. Thus, it direcly implies that there will be more money in our coffers.

From the other end- Since the move directly implies that there'll be more money for govt to spend on other things...What will happen when there is more money in an eternally corrupt environment like ours ? D answer is- It means more money will go into private pockets!!!

All what GEJ has done is to scratch the surface of the problem! D real problem is corruption - and corruption cannot be tackled by merely having fewer agencies and parastatals! And if indeed he wants to cut off unnecessary expenditure, he needs to lead by example! D President has MINISTERS,MINISTERS OF STATE, SENIOR SPECIAL ADVICERS,SPECIAL ADVICERS,SENIOR SPECIAL ASSISTANTS,SPECIAL ASSISTANTS,ASSISTANTS and a retinue of aides...and all these assistants and advisers have assistants and advisers too!!! If the President has not looked into all these, then there's no transformation anywhere!!!

I will be the first to commend GEJ d moment he starts fighting corruption!
For now, there is nothing to cheer about. Under him, EFCC is now a toothless bulldog. Corruption has grown so hi tech that it has never been this fashionable to be corrupt...Albeit many People say OBJ used EFCC to witchhunt political opponents..but at least, d people that were disgraced were indeed corrupt! Also, Yar'Adua wanted to be known as 'Mr.Transparent' ...he holds the record of the first President to publicly declare his assets...WHAT CAN WE SAY ABOUT GEJ? Nothing!!! Infact, he openly wines and dines with convicted thieves - Alamieseigha, Bode George etc

BusinessRe: Work Begins On Onitsha Shoprite. by Pedagogue: 7:17pm On Jun 29, 2013
Rossikk: You need to study situations more before commenting. Theoretically nothing stops Nigerian firms from investing in SA. Both nations have reciprocity agreements. The main factor holding back such Nigerian investment is that South Africa does not offer the type of returns for companies as do many faster growing economies on the continent, like Ghana, Kenya, even Liberia. These are where you find Nigerian firms establishing branches, and making serious profits. The South African market is relatively saturated, meaning more competition and lower returns. Businesses hate competition. They will invest where they can capture the largest possible market share.
And you also need to study comments more before commenting.

My post addressed only 2 issues: that as a matter of fact, there are no similar Nigerian companies in SA (your justification for this is irrelevant here).Secondly, that the Nigerian govt (at both federal and state levels) practically worship foreign investors / businesses...and they fail to extend the same treatment to local businesses.

I verily believe that no society can develop if the key sectors of the economy are in the hands of foreigners.

Well, that shd b expected...we have a govt that does not encourage indigenous investors/businessmen...but when foreigners come, they worship them!!!

RomanceRe: Would You Ever Cheat In A Relationship? by Pedagogue: 2:54pm On Jun 29, 2013
On a lighter note, we can also query the word 'cheating' ...

Lets imagine this realistic scenario between Iya Basira and Baba Basira after the latter was caught cheating...

Iya Basira: Ha, Baba Basira!!! Why on earth are you so heartless...I saw u with my korokoro eyes in mama Sule's bedroom...

So, u've been cheating on me all this while (crying heavily) ...ha, Baba Basira, why......(now hitting his chest)...u've been cheating on meeeee

Baba Basira: how have I been cheating on u....shebi we still had s^x yesterday....have I ever deprived u of sex?

*Funny as the above sounds, it aptly captures the 'true ' meaning of cheating...CHEATING is defined as 'depriving someone of something ' !!! Can a man/woman that does not deprive her spouse of s^x be termed a cheater if caught with another woman/ man!!! Methinks the person can be called another name..I.e betrayer etc....but not a CHEATER as most ppl have branded it!!!

#my opinion tho
RomanceRe: Would You Ever Cheat In A Relationship? by Pedagogue:
Many are quick to say Yes OR NO!!!

I really do not think this question is as straightforward as it seems!!!

Firstly, are we clear on what cheating means? For some, anything that has to do with s^ex (kissing, cunnilingus,et al ) is Cheating!!! While for others, merely flirting or expressing love (without going physical) with someone other than your 'partner' is tantamount to cheating!!!

Secondly, ur question failed to define 'relationship'.Afterall, bf/GF is a relationship...wife/husband is also a relatnshp. For some, cheating anyone that is not your husband or wife is no cheating...such ppl often say they have no legal obligation not to cheat - afterall they are not married!!! While for others, the fact that you are in a relationship means you are 'emotionally married' to your bf/gf...and except you break up, 'cheating' on him/her is WRONG. So, it all depends on the category one belongs.... But each category has its own consequence!

Back to the question, I WUD NOT CHEAT...Hope I've answerd ur question? grin grin grin

Jokes apart, d truth is, many ppl cheat not because they set out to cheat...Once you start meeting that guy/dude in solitary places...my friend, no Jupiter can stop u from cheating!!! It will first start from an harmless goodbye peck on d lips in d car ...and then, oh...a kiss is not all that bad...and then....gbam, gbam!!! D rest will be HISTORY.

Frankly speaking, we will all get attracted to someone other than our 'partner' - but d gist is, self denial is the only thing dt can make us 2 have a dint of sanity in this morally bankrupt world we are in!!!
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Spain - Player Rating by Pedagogue:
@ Jarus, well analysed!!!

However, I beg to disagree on some of your ratings!

IDEYE, 4.5 is indeed flattering!!! How can a striker (whether supporting or not ) fail to convert those glorious chances he missed!!! If Arbeloa, a defender, was able to masterfully score like a striker, what was IDEYE's business on the pitch yesterday if not to score! His attitude (like i have always said) is also very terrible...he always wear this posture of unseriousness!!!It was a bad day in the office for him! Just like Gambo, I think 2/10 best describes his performance.

-ECHIEJILE-U scored this lad 5/10!!! Well, it's ur opinion anyway!! If Not for anything else, I think giving ECHIEJILE d same rating with AMBROSE is very contrary to the match I watched yesterday. That dude was fantastic yet again. Just like it happened in previous matches, our main problem is the right wing of d defence where AMBROSE holds sway. It's not a coincidence that most of the goals we conceded yesterday and in this competition came from the right side of the defence and NOT the left!!! For me, MIKEL OBI And ECHIEJILE were our best performers in this competition. A 6/10 would have been more apt!

- OMERUO, in all honesty, he does not deserve the 6/10 u gave him. That dude is indeed a brilliant performer...there's no gainsaying that! But if we are to stick ONLY to his brief performance yesterday, he can be held ( as one of the culprits ) for the first goal we conceded. A 5/10 will be more appropriate.

-OGU- you compared his style of play to Mikel's...that is flattering, to say the least!!! This dude failed to retain possession..he also gave out possession easily! Your 6/10 rating is in my view inconsistent with his performance. He does not deserve more than 4/10.

-MUSA- I partially agree with your analysis of him. He did very well yesterday and he was our most enterprising attacker...but for the dearth of a goal poacher, his crosses would have led to goals. But since he also failed to convert some of the chances we had and the ill timing of some of his crosses, I think 6/10 will be a better judgment of his performance yesterday.

MIKEL- I totally agree. That guy played his heart out yesterday and in previous matches. He deserves all the accolades we can pour on him

Your general assessment- I agree with you. We did quite well...and I'm sure we'll even get better!!! But I honestly hope Keshi has learnt a lesson from this competition- he needs to sheathe his swords and invite the best players the country can offer!!! He, like most Nigerians know that the country has better strikers (home and abroad) than the ones he invited ...and the excuse of Emenike , Moses and Oduamadi's injuries are completely irrelevant here!!!

On a last note, Keshi needs all the support he can get!!! With him, our Super Eagles is SAFE in his hands!!! Mark my words, we will not only qualify for the WC, we will also do very well! D signs are all too clear

PoliticsRe: Mokola Flyover Opens For Use On Tuesday, 25th June. by Pedagogue:
.@ Okija Ojuju aka Mr. Constructive critic, I read your posts and I find your posts very irreconcilable !!!

In 1 bit u said the bridge is a "waste of Ibadan's scarcely available money" and that they should build for the future and not today- AFTER SAYING THAT IBADAN (Oyo State) does not have money, don't you think the bridge is the best the govt can construct with its "scarcely available money " ?

In another bit,u said the state will witness population explosion if a govt with good economic policies come to the fore..and this will render the bridge useless because of traffic nightmare- MY BRODA, HAVE U EVER BEEN TO IBADAN? DO U EVEN KNOW WHY D BRIDGE WAS CONSTRUCTED IN D FIRST PLACE? I think many Niaralanders just post without knowing what they are talking about!!!

@ the pictures of Akwa Ibom, those bridges and roads are superb! In fact, d picture overawes the mokola bridge in question!!! But do u think that's what the state urgently needs! Well, im glad u at least agree that the state does not need "something that BIG at d moment". I stand to be corrected on this- AKWA IBOM IS THE LARGEST EXPORTER OF HOUSEMAIDS AND SECURITY MEN IN NIGERIA! Infact, my maid and security man are from there!!! Are these people in their beautiful 'bridge and flyover constructing city' ? The answer is NO!!! They are all in the small flyover and 'rural like bridges states' like Oyo State - doing Yes Ma and Yes Sir!!!

My point is, u cannot expect Oyo State to give what it does not have!!! D state does not have d big allocation that Akwa Ibom receive...and so cannot give what it cannot afford!!! But if we are to judge Akwa Ibom State (for instance) and the present Oyo state govt based on meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the ppl on the basis of the resources of the states and needs of the people, oyo state govt wud WIN flatly !!!
PoliticsRe: Nigerians Can't Have Free Potable Water- Minister by Pedagogue:
Acidosis: Shes right.

Everything cannot be free. Someone has to pay a token to compliment the effort of the government..

Our past leaders destroyed these country with free things.. When you give people things for free.. they'll never know the worth and such things don't last. Free projects always lack proper maintenance in Nigeria..

Even those apointed to maintain free projects do not take their work serious because its free.

If Fashola could ask us to pay for the road he constructed with our money before we walk on these roads...then there is nothing wrong in paying a token for the water we drink/use everyday

The only reason why pure water business is growing rapidly is cos we pay before we drink!

We try to justify FREE FREE things because of the poor, and the more we provide free things, the poor becomes even poorer cos they no longer see any reason to work!

Imagine a dad who sent his 9 children to government schools for free.. the childen get to school in free uniforms & free books to eat free food and then come back home to meet their father sleeping and snoring on bed...

"We cannot eradicate poverty by providing free things"

- Acidosis

Eradicate idleness, joblessness & corruption; and poverty shall be nowhere close to the citizens!

D mindset of the poster above is the reason why things are bad in Nigeria!!!

Is the minister's statement different from the capitalist statement that DAVID MARK made years back? If in 2013 we still have a minister that will justify why poor Nigerians do not have access to potable water, all else is lost!!!

D above poster does not know that poverty is directly connected to poor standard of living! Does it occur to this poster that there is no way "idleness huh, joblessness & corruption'' can be "eradicated" if the right infrastructure is not put in place!!! Water, just like electricity are necessities and any govt that cannot guarantee these 2 basic things does not deserve to be called 'government'.

I guess this poster is comfortable with the situation in the country where there's a private arrangement for supposed public things...I,e for your security, you must hire security men. For electricity ,you need a generator. For water supply, u must dig a borehole!!! So, tell me, what then is the essence of government ?

I am not in anyway saying government must do it all or provide everything for free...My point is, why will a country that has abundant resources struggle to provide basic amenities for her citizenry? D answer to this is CORRUPTION and bad governance!!!
And every time we do not tackle gullible statements like this, we unwittingly allow them to continue ! Nigerians, be wise!!!

EducationRe: Covenant University’s Former Vice-chancellor Suspended For Examination Fraud by Pedagogue:
Who's this ACIDOSIS boy?

Rather than talk about the REAL issue here, he obviously thinks the best way to DEFEND private uni's is by saying all other Uni's do the same..what a fallacy of irrelevant grounds!!!

@ op this does not come to me as a surprise- 4 the following reasons-

1. Covenant University, like most private Uni's, is being run as a fiefdom enterprise where the Senate is very weak I.e d VC and the owner can do and do - Its a different scenario in federal uni's where the SUG can criticise their VC and the Senate can checkmate the excesses of a VC.

2. In most private uni's, the award of PASS and 3rd class certificates is a rarity (I.e in Babcock Uni, pass and 3rd class certificates are NOT awarded). Thus, an arrangement like this cheapens the quality of certificates...That is why the VC was able to 'change' the grade of her child from 3rd Class to 2.1 !!! If that had been done in a Uni like U.1, IFE, ILORIN and some other top federal Uni's where the number of 2.1's are not usually more than 40 percent, this would have raised a whole lot of questions IMMEDIATELY !!!

3. Since freedom of expression is ostracised in most private Uni's , it would have been impossible for the colleagues of the VC's daughter to have complained....even if they knew!!! Is the curtailment of freedom of expression the hallmark of a good university? It has been reported severally that some students were expelled for not attending the mandatory church programmes...so, how on earth can students in an environment like that speak up even if they notice any bad thing?

4. The said Mr. Omojola is perhaps an exception to the general rule of 'zombie lecturers' they have in most private uni's...it is common knowledge that most lecturers in these uni's are duty bound to follow the whims and caprices of the VC and the owner! If this were not to be the case, the VC would not have had the impudence to go that far!!!

But pls folks, do not get me wrong...I am not in any way saying federal uni's are saints! Far from it!!! Infact, there are many bed for marks and money for marks lecturers there too!!! But my main point is this- private universities are no where close to the quality that top federal uni's have!!! Many have allowed themselves to believe in the saintly propaganda that private uni's give about themselves. The truth is, the coming of private universities into the Nigerian academic hemisphere has not in anyway improved academic quality...rather, it has further ridiculed and degraded the quality of our university system! D fate of our educational system rests solely on the shoulders of our top federal uni's...If the govt can give them more attention, the country wud be better for it!!!
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Tahiti - Confederations Cup: (6 - 1) On 17th June 2013 by Pedagogue: 11:04pm On Jun 17, 2013
Fellow Nigerians, I think 6-1 score line is a good result ON PAPER!!!

D confederations cup is a different ball game...All the teams innit are winners from different continents. So, even if Tahiti fielded carpenters or artisans..that is none of our business!!! D truth is, Nigeria did not just defeat Tahiti, we defeated a whole continent!!! I've been listening to the rubbish the hypocritical Britsih press has been spewing about Nigeria...my take is IF ENGLAND is that good, why are they not in Brazil? They are just a bunch of jealous fellas!!!

And again,I actually believe that Nigeria played a bit amateurish because we were playing against Tahiti!!! Against Uruguay & Spain, I'm sure we will see an improved performance.

Nevertheless, IDEYE and MUSA were just awful today...I still cannot believe that these guys are being paid dollars by European clubs...It's not only because of the chances they missed, their attitude sucks- They carried on with a very stupid ' I don't care attitude ' . I do not know why Keshi likes this IDEYE guy so much...He wasted loads of scoring chances during Afcon and he has been doin the same since then!!!

Below is my player ratings

Enyeama- 4/10
Ambrose- 5/10
Echiejile- 7/10
Oboabona-5/10
Omeruo- 6/10
Mikel- 5/10
Ogu-5/10
Mba-3/10
Oduamadi-8/10 MVP* (when his teammates were acting as Id it's a MUST they dribble the keeper b4 scoring, he was just business like)
Ujah-3/10
Musa-3/10
Ideye-1/10

Our weakest link is the attack- if Keshi can work on that, the game against Uruguay mite just go our way! But frankly speaking, we will need a big measure of LUCK too 'cos players like Musa and IDEYE will still play huh We are really missing Emenike and MOSES!!!
Nairaland GeneralRe: Task Force Arrest Local Masquerade (picture) by Pedagogue: 10:43am On Jun 15, 2013
@ op, Are there INTERNATIONAL masquerades? why did u write "local masquerade" ?

But the masquerade gat no 'swag' all ...All what he/she/it needed to have done was to mutter audible incantations ...I'm sure d task force ppl would have ran the race of their lives!!! When it comes to JUJU, people can wet their boxers!

And btw, d masquerade looks like LAGBAJA- there's nothing fearsome about him/her/it!!
HealthRe: Nigeria Has 7 Hospitals For Kidney Transplant- Health Minister by Pedagogue:

D problem with Nigerians is that majority of us accept whatever we are told without asking questions!

GEJ and the minister cannot claim (and of course they've not claimed) that these 7 hospitals have not been undertaking kidney transplant surgeries before this administration!!

Thus, the headline is in bad taste! If the minister feels they equipped these 7 teaching hospitals with the 'state of the art equipments', don't we deserve to know what was spent and what was bought!!! So, the pictures represents all the billions d ministry got as allocations in 2 years? Politicians have a way of swindling Nigerians sha!!! If not, why wil anyone see these as the achievements of the federal ministry of health in 2 years?

Just like in other sectors, GEJ has not in anyway done anything significant in the health sector...Why was his wife not treated in Nigeria? Is it not a slap on his face that his wife could not be treated in the country he presides over? To make matters worse, they even have the audacity to lay claim to achievements in hospitals they do not believe in!!!
If the Minister of health has kidney failure tomorrow (God forbid) i'm sure he will abandon the so called state of the art facilities and travel to Germany...So,what are they celebrating?
On a sarcastic note, it is instructive to note that GEJ's brother was treated in Nigeria (Aso Rock hospital) for what was described as 'minor sickness',but quite sadly, he died!!! Patience Jonathan was hospitalised in Germany and at a point, she said she was dead for many days...Today, she's hale and hearty!!! Is this not an ironical description of the way things are in this country?

*So. In what way has GEJ transformed or ingested 'fresh air' to our health care system? His family, ministers and associates fly out to treat headache and malaria while the masses are left to visit the slaughter slabs they call hospitals!!
Mandela has never been flown out of his country for treatment...Is SA not an African country like Nigeria? How can such happen in Nigeria when Nigerians unwittingly support politicians that create a separate world for themselves and a different one for the masses! What is good for d goose should be good for the gander!!!

PoliticsRe: Fashola Commissions Paving Stone Production Line. pics added. by Pedagogue: 9:54am On Jun 14, 2013
Oh gracious God, when will Nigeria be governed like Lagos!!!

But How is that possible when we have a system that only supports someone like GEJ as President and Fashola, a governor!!!

it's also d same reason why the 'Oga at the top man' was the Commandant of Lagos State NSCDC whereas there are hundreds of proactive officers under him who can never smell the office of 'the commandant' of a town not to talk of Lagos state!

Until we start fielding our BEST 11, Nigeria can never change
HealthRe: Smoking Will Be Banned Soon In Nigeria - FG by Pedagogue:
And pls let's not ignore the 'achievement' of the Hon. minister and GEJ in d health sector....

1. Establishment of trauma centres, completion (started by who ?) of staff hospital, completion (started by who? ) of the building of NIPRD building

2. Rehabilitation of several teaching hospitals - I hate general statements. We need specific figures as to what was spent, where it was spent, what was bought and how many hospitals were repaired

3. GEJ increased funding for polio....and so? If in 2013, Nigeria is still discussing polio, then its a big shame

4 That 7 hospitals can do kidney transplant...Pls, Mr. Minister, are you sayin that b4 this administration, these 7 hospitals could not do kidney trainsplant ?

That is all what our Minister and GEJ did in the health sector in 2 years...ONE CAN FEEL FRESH AIR in their achievements!!!R U B B I S H grin grin grin
HealthRe: Smoking Will Be Banned Soon In Nigeria - FG by Pedagogue: 9:16am On Jun 14, 2013
We've heard!!!

But Mr. Minister, when will corruption and bad governance be BANNED? Bad governance accounts for the highest number of Deaths in Nigeria - or can the Hon. Minister tell us tobacco kills more people than our bad roads, unequipped hospitals, insecurity, poverty, poor living conditions, ridiculous government policies and lack of basic amenities!!!

I do not smoke...nevertheless, smoking is like prostitution, it can never be banned!!! Despite the fact that smoking marijuana is illegal, people still smoke weed everyday!!! Well, I'm even sure 60 per cent of our law makers in the National Assembly who are supposed to mak this law, smoke!!!! So, d minister is definitely on his own!!! All what the national assembly needs to do is to ban smoking in public places! That will suffice!

It's either the Minister was drunk when he said that OR was quoted out of context
PoliticsRe: June 12 20TH Anniversary: Drop Your Thoughts by Pedagogue:
From the comments and LIKES I have seen here today, it is clear that the future of Nigeria is very BLEAK!!!

If all Dese comments flew from the fingers of 'supposed' educated youths, what more can one expect from illiterates?

Many do not know anything about MKO Abiola and the events before and after June 12, 1993!!!

Since this thread needs contributions on June 12 and not Abiola, I will limit myself to same!!!!
June 12 is the day democracy was birthed in Nigeria...the electoral credibility that is the hallmark of a constitutional democracy was fulfilled!!! From d North down to d South, Nigerians majorly voted for a change and ABIOLA encompassed the change Nigerians hoped for!

But what happened, some goons who were arguably not more than 5 sat down in an air conditioned room and decided to annul / cancel the decision that millions of Nigerians took under the scorching sun !!!

Rather than discuss objectively and ensure we learn from history, most comments here are not about the significance of June 12, neither are they about the injustice of June 12..rather, most comments here are about Abiola's 'evil deeds' !!!

There are many educated Nigerians but only few are intelligent!!!

2 some of d above posters, why are u guys angry because some teens feel there's a need for them to preach a message of chastity and sexual abstention....(especially since it appears that many have been deceived that virginity is not a thing of pride anymore).

Please, if you are so aggrieved, pls stage your non virgins or anti virginity procession and walk from Lagos to Ibadan!
