Reno is, with respect, insanely funny! Hear him: " “There is no basis to compare the two because they are miles apart. President Jonathan enjoys the support of Nigerians as evident by the millions of Nigerians that follow his official Facebook account..." So Buhari&Osinbajo do not enjoy the support of Nigerians? Mr. Reno, Nigerians are waiting for Feb. 14, 2015 to expose the lies you've been feeding GEJ about his popularity. ............... Reno, in his capacity as the SSA on New Media (which includes Facebook, twitter,Nairaland etc) must have been summoned by GEJ/PDP to explain the unprecedented support Buhari & Osinbajo have been receiving since the beginning of their campaign. Instead of telling the President the HARD TRUTH about Buhari/Osinbajo's popularity, he deceitfully told the President "No sir...na money dem take buy all the likes/comments/tweets on Facebook..." Mr. Reno Omokri, rather than telling GEJ and his wife the truth about their dwindling popularity which would in turn prepare their minds that they will lose the election, you are there deceiving them! Diaris God o ![]() |
I'm a Christian. Believe me, we are in end times! The role RELIGION is playing in 2015 politics is stunningly strange. We've moved from 'No to Muslim-Muslim ticket'; 'No to Catholic-Catholic ticket' to 'Prophets' making (whatever) predictions!!! In a sane clime, Prophet Olabayo's 'prophecies' would not have been dignified with any response by a high ranking party official. But in Nigeria, you dare not take such chances...Our people are very gullible. Any statement by anybody with the tag of 'Pastor' or 'Imam' has a sanctimonious effect on a vast majority of Nigerians. Little wonder that GEJ/PDP waited impatiently for Buhari to announce Fashola or any other Muslim for that matter as his VP candidate. That last minute choice of a RCCG Pastor as Buhari's VP dealt a very terrible blow to their political calculations. But PDP/GEJ have not given up. They cannot even afford to give up. They know too well that the only political weapon they can use against Buhari is ethnic/religious propaganda...Nigerians, the real 2015 politics is about to begin. I have it on good authority that PDP will insidiously invade the social media in a way that has never been seen before. Many new accounts will be opened on twitter, fb, nairaland, linda Ikeji and even Bella Naija...and they will be talking about 1 thing: BUHARI's Islamic/Northern agenda. My source went further to tell me that some of the phantom monikers that will be opened will be tweeting/posting as if they are supporters of Buhari/APC. Nigerians, SHINE YOUR EYES! Let's call their bluff FOR ONCE!!! They think we are fools. They steal our money and allow Christians and Moslems to be killed by insurgents and they still want another 4 years? Hell NO!!! Tell me, who's a Christian? My Bible tells me that The Apostles were first called 'CHRISTIANS' in Antioch because the people there saw the life of Jesus Christ in them! They did not call them Christians because they'd wined and dined with Christ! No!!! It was because of the kind of life they were living...so, tell me, Is GEJ a Christian? Is corruption, ethnic bigotry, crass impunity a life of Christ? Is FFK (the self-appointed Christ-defender) a 'Christian' ? These people are 'Christians' because of accident of birth; and the same applies to Buhari....So, whether anybody likes it or not, I am, by the grace of the Almighty God a Christian and I will, God willing, vote for APC/BUHARI/Osinbajo on February 14, 2015. ...and of course, I will vote for Ambode/APC in 2015. I know how Lagos was in 1999; I know how it is now. This is not to say that Agbaje is not a person of integrity! No! It is about his party. I will rather have Tinubu as my governor's godfather than have Bode George/Ogunlewe. I will rather have a party that has been consistent in it's developmental plan for Lagos than have a party that has a different mentality! If Fashola could surpass Tinubu that was seen as better than his contemporaries...then Ambode will (I believe) be better than Fashola!!! ***Really sorry for the long epistle/diversion from the main topic. |
Who's FFK's dad? A brilliant lawyer who used the opportunity of politics to better the lot of himself and family. Underline HIMSELF and FAMILY!!! Who's FFK? A man that's closely following his dad's footsteps. He's however not his dad in many respects. His style of politics is infantile in dignified.See below: He described OBJ as the worst thing to ever happen to Nigeria. Before you could say Jack, he accepted to be d spokesman of "the worst thing to ever happen to Nigeria".I'm sure you know the rest of the story... He's arguably the most notable Nigerian that described GEJ with the most disrespectful invectives. What did he not call GEJ? As if that was not enough, he extended his hatred for GEJ to d Igbos. He called Igbo's many names. He went as far as saying he slept with Bianca Ojukwu; just to get at the Igbo's for supporting GEJ. Then something happened...he had a dinner with GEJ in Aso rock and that changed everything. He won the corruption case against him. He became GEJ's evangelist. That is FFK for u. ...... To the merits, if at all, of what he has said; I have two questions: 1. Buhari had all the time and d power in the world to Islamise Nigeria as head of state, did he do that? 2. FFK has warned Osinbajo not to be equally yoked with an unbeliever...Tell me, is Sambo (GEJ's VP) a believer? Is FFK a Xtian? Is a weed-smoking life, prostitutes-hobnobbing life, corruption personified life a LIFE OF CHRIST? |
Seun, Easy does it. Do not allow Your toil (Nairaland) to be used by money-bag politicians. I know they are desperate. You should also be desperate to protect the integrity of NL. The way and manner Pro PDP threads are making it to what used to be the ALMIGHTY front page is alarming!!! Although you reserve the right to support anybody, NL must be separated from YOU. That is the only way NL can maintain its status. NL is fast becoming the online version of NTA. Check this trend bro. |

Of course, PDP has every right to make that claim. A high percentage of APC 'ticket-holders' came from PDP. But is this not expected? PDP has been Nigeria's biggest party since 1999. In fact, one can arguably say that Nigeria has been a one party state! Then came GOODLUCK...His parochial and provincial politics feathered the nest of the opposition; which gave birth to d APC. ......... As a new party, APC definitely needs the membership of defectors from the PDP. Without a good mix of PDP defectors and opposition Hardliners, the party will only exist on paper. With the way things are right now, APC will slug it out with PDP on all fronts. It will be a very intersting contest. At the end of the day, Nigeria will be better for it. Not because it is not 'same of same politicians' but because Nigerians now have an opportunity of CHOICE. And of course, in future, Nigerian politics will be better defined...so much so that PDP & APC will have clearly defined ideologies! Ours is a young democracy. We'll get there. The only way we can however get there is to kick start this by voting out PDP at the national level in 2015. 16 years is no joke. Let's try another party. |
I expected this. This is called the 'powers of the presidency'. It takes a dogged man not to cave or sell away when he's offered many good things of life and threatened if he refuses. Ibikunle, or whatever is the name of the young lad, has obviously sold the IFE SUG; he doesn't deserve to spend a day more on that exalted seat. A video of the whole booing and pelting drama was sent to me by one of my protégés in IFE. It wasn't done by a portion of the student crowd as the compromised Ibikunle wants the public to believe. It was done in a 'Great IFE manner'. Although I left IFE more than a decade ago, the Great IFE spirit is aeonian and cuts across generations. ......... If IFE is still IFE, this Ibikunle lad will be impeached today...Nevertheless, this may not happen 'cos they are writing exams; IFE students are 'always solemn' during this period! That may well be his saving grace. ...... This is the same Ibikunle that accepted a bus gift from Iyiola Omisore before the guber elections in Osun State. It is a big shame that this obviously putrid fellow has rubbished the achievements of his predecessors in such a short period of time. Ibikunle will go down in the history books as the IFE SUG President that was caged, sewed and conquered. The good thing however is; he does not represent majority of Great IFE students ...and since time immemorial, IFE SUG has never been about any individual...it has always and will always be about the collective strength of all GREAT IFE students. |
GEJ chose the wrong audience for his harum-scarum comment. I will explain. 1. Yorubas do not really care that the present Speaker of the HOR is not Yoruba. if GEJ has forgotten, I will remind him. Dimeji Bankole was massively rejected by his ppl in 2011. Of course, Yorubas, especially his constituents, knew that a return to the HOR for Bankole means a return to the Speakership seat. But what did they do? They rejected him. 2. It is arguable that Yorubas are far more politically wise than any ethnic group in Nigeria. They know too well that politicians use the 'ethnic' and 'zoning' card to benefit themselves and their families. After all, what did Bankole and Etteh do for them than the offcut record that they were Yoruba Speakers? 3. GEJ was subtly trying to get at APC for not supporting a Yoruba Speaker. But Mr. President, that political sentiment can only work in the South East/ South South where ethnic bigotry is so much entrenched. I am sorry if anyone feels offended by this. Sadly, it is the truth. B) Perhaps GEJ has also forgotten that Mulikat Adeola was d candidate of the Patience Jonathan led presidency...and that was the MAJOR reason Tambuwal lost. If the man (cnt remember his name) that had been endorsed by the S'West PDP had not been forced to step down for Mulikat Adeola, Tambuwal would have probably lost. 4. GEJ has never been pretentious about his dislike for Yorubas. The facts are there. If I have the time, I can open my very first thread on NL to justify this assertion. But for now, can you quickly race your minds down to his many comments on Lagos; the way he derided elected Yoruba Governors as "rascals" (can he describe Gov's in d East/S'South or Northern Governors that way?) etc 5. If APC are to be blamed for d loss of the Speakership position, then GEJ has finally confirmed his incompetence. His party/had/has the majority in the HOR. So who's to be blamed for not using the PDP machinery to produce 'his Speaker' ? It just does not make sense. 6. Assuming APC is to be blamed for truncating Mulikat Adeola's ambition, are they also responsible for the third class positions GEJ has given to Yoruba in his govt? Out of all the ministers from the S'west zone, only Aganga (Edo and Lagos) and Johnson (Ondo) have 'moderate ' positions. All others are Ministers of States; relegated to the background. His kinsmen & women are occupying d. most significant positions; Madueke, Petroleum (Bayelsa) ; IWEALA , c. economy(Delta); Onoemelen , Works (Edo) ... I can go on and on. GEJ chose the wrong environment: The Great OAU.I'm a proud alumnus. To OAU undergrads: tnx 4 telling GEJ d TRUTH via your boes and peltings. A president under whose watch Universities were under locks and keys for 6 months deserves that treatment...A president under whose watch all Federal Polytechnics were shut for 1 full year deserves more than that! |

Lincolnburrows: Times have gone when I really find nairaland front page interesting and informative. Times have gone when I recommend this site to my friends. Times have gone when I wake up in the middle of the night just to read nairaland comments. Things have really fallen apart on this once revered forum......, still weeping in pej's voice. Idrismusty97: Weep no more. Linda Ikeja blog is still available. The above comments are, with respect, visceral. The first poster herein above did not mk a single comment dt is related to this thread...He has only moaned emptily abt his misconceived perception abt NL. Well, i'm not surprised...I see Nigerians lik u everyday. If u dnt lik the thread, why can't u open a thread that represents ur interests? Anyways, u also hav a right to delete ur NL account n leave NL forever! D second poster recommended Linda Ikeji's blog! To b honest, u av a right to recommend whatever to anyone! But quite frankly, d subtle way many ppl av bin advertising dt blog on NL makes me wonder whether it's d same blog i knw...'kim k Did this' 'Beyonce did dt" are all u ever get to read there! Well, whatever rocks ur boat tho.... @Op, good questions. Just note d following: 1. What applies to A may not apply to B. 2. A decision of whn to marry is generally taken as a result of many circumstances i.e Once u av a good job n u r in a serious rltshp; it's almost certain dt d bell wil ring. 3. Unforeseen circumstances i.e 'unplanned' pregnancy 4. Parental nay societal pressure 5. Out of pity. For example, a lady of 32 yrs who has bin dating a man for 8 years may be 'pitied' by her man. Thus, d man may choose to marry her not because he really wants to...but cos of an emotional consideration of d no. Of years they've bin together!!! ...Op, i cnt tell u my personal experience cos of certain reasons!!! But believe me, majority of ppl get married cos they c it As d 'next thing' -lik an obligation dt must b fulfilled. Som ppl also get married once they c d 'right person'. Whtevr side u belong, 'Marriage' generally flows from 'a decision to marry'. [/color] |
Keshi has performed creditably well as Super Eagles' Coach. Before his appointment, our boys were far from Super. Winning the AFCON and getting to the Second Round stage of the World Cup are to his eternal credits... But wait a minute, what happened after the nations cup? Keshi RESIGNED.What happened after the World Cup? Keshi RESIGNED!!! To 'resign' means to 'LEAVE'. Thus, Keshi's heart effectively left his position as d Super Eagles Coach after the Nations Cup. You don't believe?Recall that his resignation after the World Cup was principally because of the juicy contracts he thought he would get...But alas, NONE came his way!!! He had to quickly DENY that he 'concretely' resigned!!!He had no option but to settle for what was available- Super Eagles job! Although this thread is not about Keshi, the truth is,the future of IHEANACHO & other budding stars depends heavily on who is in the saddle. Therefore, permit to state that: 1. We have a coach that selects players based on his personal sentiments; he does not care if the collective will of Nigerians is sacrificed for his EGO. 2. Keshi is not a good manager of men. A coach that has problems with several players is not a fantastic coach; it is v ironical that Keshi that now 'believes' so much in discipline was highly indisciplined in his playing days. 3. A thorough analysis of all our games after the Nations Cup will reveal that our players are no longer playing for him. Our games against Congo & S/Africa are clear pointers. 4. Keshi lost the script the moment he allowed the victory at AFCON to get to his head. His ego has tripled since then. He now expects players to kowtow to him. 5. Introducing the likes of Iheanacho will definitely unsettle the 'big boys' in d National team- especially MIKEL ObI. Keshi does not want that. 6. If Keshi had to be forced by the collective shouts by soccer mad Nigerians to invite Osaze (who was our best player at the world cup), IHEANACHO may perhaps never play for d Super Eagles as long as he's our gaffer. Believe me, Keshi is still our coach cos he has has not received any better offer. His passion for our team is clearly dead. Someone needs to start from where Keshi has stopped. |
Knew it, Our nairaland has been bought. Bought by the marauding people destroying this country... Well, they can only 'buy' nairaland, they cannot buy our conscience. If they like, they should increase the promotion of pro-GEJ threads to 10 per day; THE WILL of Nigerians will prevail at the end of the day. .......... *'Bought' does not imply bribery or corruption. Take note, pls. *Only perceptive minds can understand my comment. |
This thread is acutely misleading. I know of a truth that a First Class Degree from a reputable fed uni in Nig can change a pauper to a King!!! Op, FIRST CLASS epitomises excellence. You are a symbol of extraordinary quality. Repackage that your CV and bring out that INNER MIND that stood u out in skl. *To undergrads: Don't be misled. Do all u can to get a first. You'll thank me later. |
@whywhyyyy & tee..., I understand you. I understand your desperation. I rarely post on NL but I think your glib posts deserve a response;albeit a terse one. First, I read all your image laundering posts and I must confess, you did a good job by trying so hard to: a. State that the usurious rules of your alma mater hav not in any way affected the quality of her graduates; and b. Emphasise that federal govt uni's are now 'grandmother' universities that live on past glory. On A, with respect to you, your apparent defence of the 'No-Phones' policy of your alleged alma mater (alleged 'cos u sound like a student) is absolutely puerile & shocking. As far as university education is concerned, Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford & Oxbridge are known as MODEL UNIVERSITIES. Tell me, does any of these universities have such immoderate rules? By 'rules', it includes compulsory church attendance, ban on phones, et al. So, if those Reputable Universities have not placed such ridiculous restrictions on their students, why should CU, a fledgling uni, have such regulations & expect to be regarded as a reputable university, whether now or in the future? Private varsities in Nig, including CU, must be told that the forceful marriage of University education & Religion cannot mix. If for anything, it would only embolden their students to step up on their discreet amoral relationships. Or who does not know that the students of CU & other private varsities are regular callers @ Clubs in Lagos & its environs? That is what you get when u force ppl to serve God. Many of them only attend church services to mark the compulsory register, their minds are far from God. On B, i read, with surprise, all what u call 'achievements'. I'm a grad of IFE & if I'm to be very frank with u,all you've posted cannot match the individual achievements of grads from d fac of Tech in the past 12 years. The only reason why you don't know is that varsities like IFE,UI etc do not believe in the image laundering that capitalist owners of private varsities thrive on. ............ I have a special bias for CU tho. My kid bro grad frm CU as the best grad student in his fac few yrs ago. He's not as 'disrespectful' as u lots are. Although he's very proud of his alma mater, he has never tried to equate his class of degree with mine or any other IFE First Class grad for that matter. That is not to say CU is not good or that he's not good. However, he knows & u should also know that 'A BUTTERFLY THAT BRUSHES AGAUNST THORNS WILL TEAR ITS WINGS'. #I hate uni v uni threads...but comments frm ppl like u always force me to comment. |

I'm looking forward to a Nairaland year of ORIGINAL posts that will add value to us as Nigerians. This cut and paste attitude of meaningless topics just does not cut it. 11 reasons why I should quit Facebook? Damn annoying! If properly checked, the blogger is trying to have a hit at Mark Zuckerberg for his/her own business interests. Read No.6 more deeply and you'll understand. Albeit I hardly use Facebook these days I will forever be interested in the existence of the progenitor of social media, F A C E B O O K! Happy new year Nairalanders. |
She has said nothing new. 'Not all Foreign trained Nigerians are better than Naija trained...' 'Not all Naija trained graduates are bad...' Nothing startling in what she said! Well, it's news because she's Nimi Akinkugbe!!! ........ I trust ego craving Nigerians. This thread would soon be flooded with talks about how FOREIGN TRAINED STUDENTS ARE BETTER and HOW NAIJA STUDENTS ARE BETTER! For ppl who schooled abroad, it's an opportunity to thump their chest and proclaim their superiority. For naija trained students, it's an opportunity to bad mouth foreign trained graduates by saying ' naija education is more strenuous and not the spoon feed type of education foreign graduates acquired! Left to me, all is vanity upon vanity. Personal development is the hallmark of everything. |
Good development. But pls, let's stop this praise heaping mentality. The reason why elected public officials see themselves as Demi gods is because we praise them for doing their work! It's their duty to build, construct, implement projects and justify allocations. That is why they earn salaries! Until we change our mentality, they'll continue to exploit our ignorance |
More than half of the ppl that have commented thus far are probably students (ASUU victims). Many of them would rather talk about APC, PDP, religious and tribal issues than discuss issues that directly affect them. Their schools have been locked for months and yet no major rally/protest has been held... If students in the 70s and 80s were able to force autocratic military govts to do their bidding, what is stopping students in this twitter and Facebook era from mobilising and forcing a civilian govt to act! Nigeria is perhaps the country with the most docile and gullible youths. What a shame. ............... Oyinlola and Tukur did all that for the camera. Come to think of it, Tukur 's question and Oyinlola's answer made my day! Tukur: Can I still call u the prince of PEACE I used to call you? Oyinlola: yes Baba, I remain PEACEFUL and PRINCIPLED Classic! |
Hope you all can see ROCHAS' name boldly included? From now till 2015, I expect serious religious and political politics. Members of APC from Niger Delta and the East are the major targets. The aim is to paint them as pro Islam and Hausa supporters!!! Nigerians, let's not fall for this gimmick! Politics should be about issues and performance! ...... A word is enough for the wise. |
In Nigeria, once you are able to hurl insults at a govt official- u automatically become an ACTIVIST! Whilst not saying Fashola or any Politician is too big to be embarrassed or insulted, I just think it's odd that since the death of Gani Fawehinmi, one cannot name another balanced and apolitical social critic. I have been following this DEBO ADENIRAN for quite some time. Not once has he been quoted to criticise PDP. Albeit his comment about Fashola forming 'fake familiarity' might be valid and true, I'm expecting an 'activist' like him to comment on topical national issues too. He's not in anyway different from Messrs Falana SAN, Keyamo etc that are always very eager to criticise PDP but find it difficult to criticise the excesses of people like Fashola and co in the 'opposition'. ...... The most interesting part of the report is that the Governor was labelled 'Ole' and embarrassed...Yet, no single shot was fired neither was anyone harassed by Fashola's security men. A LESSON FOR other POLITICAL OFFICE HOLDERS! |
This article is wholly distasteful. Not distasteful because the writer lied about Nigeria and Nigerians...But distasteful because the writer made it all too obvious from the beginning that the write up is about Nigeria and Nigerians! ......... Silly! |
Good question! Apart from football tournaments, is there any other reason to say Proudly Nigerian? How can someone that his/her school has been under lock and key for months say Proudly Nigerian? How can ppl that daily read of boko haram killings say they are Proud to be Nigerians? How can ppl that daily read about corruption and the flamboyant lifestyles of their leaders say they Are proud to be Nigerians? How can Hundreds of jobless nairalanders say 'proudly nigerian' ? Op, I can go on and on! The truth is, I've only said 'proudly Nigerian' 6 times- and they were during/after football tourneys. We should not deceive ourselves, the Word 'NIGERIA' is a substitutable word for corruption, fraud and religious crisis. But on the contrary, our so called leaders probaly say PROUDLY NIGERIAN when they share / steal our money...!!! * Apart from the gloom picture painted above, I foresee a Nigeria where Nigerians would be proud of their country. Only God knws how and when this would happen |
These G7 governors are on the verge of making the biggest mistake/sound judgment of their political career! But will they be intelligent enough to take the right decision? That is an entirely different question. MISTAKE 1. Resolve their issues with Mr. President and supporte his presidency. *Believe me, in the event of GEJ returning as President, these governors would be hounded, hunted and killed politically. It is very unlikely that GEJ will forget the embarrassments they caused him... 2. Think they can fight GEj by remaining in the PDP. Oh, yes! This is an option. But can they fight and win a President that recently hijacked the party structures in all the states of the federation? I honestly do not think so. The most important tool of political power in PDP is the exco's at the state level. As things stand, GEJ has the majority. Thus, he can easily win the primaries. 3. Float another party! This will only lead to instant political necrobiosis! WISE 1. Continue to cause problems in PDP and join APC few months to 2015 elections This tactics is called ' I must break your bone before I leave you ' ![]() 2. Hijack the PDP party structure from GEj ( through the help and support of PDP heavyweights like OBJ and IBB) This is almost impossible though. Away from my lengthy analysis, I do not believe the G7 governors have any utilitarian objective. Neither do I believe that PDP or APC have the interest of the masses at heart. But i verily believe that Nigeria can only experience 'change' at the federal level , if Another party is given another chance. For crying out loud, Nigeria is not a 1 party state. Perhaps G7 is the much awaited Judas that will deliver Aso rock from the scourge of PDP...well, time will tell!!! |
UNIPORT is one of the most prestigious uni's ? Really!!! Well,if that is the same university that trained our very own Patience Jonathan, UNIPORT is most definitely a prestigious citadel of learning!! @ Topic: Well said. But if you are a linguist/media communicator and people do not "accord you respect when you SPEAk", don't you think something is wrong somewhere? Even if ppl do not respect your profession, they will definitely bow if you 'SPEAK' well. My personal philosophy is- If you are a farmer, farm well If you are a teacher, teach well If you are a prostitute, .... Well... ![]() To sum up, strive to be the best in whatever you do. Success in the 21st century has no regard for colour, race or profession. |
