And now, a deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.

The next 4 years should be stew for you guys.

Obi had no choice, all LP Candidates voted for where they felt they had interests.

If Abia LP members voted against Abbas/Kalu, we would have stoned them. From the calculations, it will seem they went for Akpabio I'm the Senate.
Interest, yes.

Abia guys are quite understandable.

Then the rest will be eying headship of juicy committees.

I’m sure a lot of deals were made.

But what is even the benefit of having a Deputy Speaker? Is it just for the bragging rights or are there other benefits I’m unaware of 🤔?
PoliticsAtiku Summons INEC Chairman, Secretary To Testify In Court - Channels TV by Penguin2(op): 8:23pm On Jun 13, 2023
The lead counsel to Atiku, Chris Uche, who addressed the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Tuesday, said he had also summoned the Secretary to the commission, Mrs Rose Omoa Oriaran-Anthony.
Atiku is challenging INEC’s declaration of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.
The petition resumed hearing with the lead counsel to Atiku informing the court that he was calling the first witness of the day, making him that the 19th witness to testify in the matter.
The 19th witness is a star witness, was one Mr Alex Adumter, a lawyer and politician as well as the National Coordinator of the PDP Situation Room.

However, members of counsel to the first respondent (INEC), the second and third respondents (Bola Tinubu/Shettima) and the fourth respondent (APC) raised objections to the admissibility of the witness’ statement on oath.

However, counsel to the petitioner (Atiku) urged the court to discountenance the objection in its entirety.
The court admitted the statement on oath, while it reserved ruling on the matter till judgement day.

The star witness deposed to three statements on oath, which the court adopted.
The witness also tendered, along with his statement on oath, three videos of the INEC Chairman, INEC commissioner Festus Okoye, and the European Union (EU) election observer mission, as evidence.
Counsel to Atiku applied to the court for the video evidence to be played in the open court, an application the court granted.
One of the videos contained a news conference of the INEC Chairman in which he promised real-time transmission of election results and the non-use of incidence forms as the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) would be the only device to be used.

PoliticsWe Don’t Aim To Trust The Judiciary But To Overwhelm Her With Evidence -aisha Ye by Penguin2(op): 7:53pm On Jun 13, 2023
Since the Nigerian judiciary started churning out some questionable judgments, most Nigerians have stated many times that they have lost faith with the judiciary and their ability to deliver impartial justice.

These misgivings were in the realm of conjectures until the Senator Bulkachuwa made his controversial statement during the valedictory session of the senate when he stated that his wife, who was the President of the Court of Appeal, used her position to extend “help” to his fellow politicians. No one knows if he intended for this statement to come out the way it did or not but it has further damaged the reputation of the judiciary and her integrity.

But despite the mistrust arising from these happenings, Aisha Yesufu, an activist and supporter of Peter Obi, has best captured how the judiciary can be best pushed to the corner until she has no choice than to do justice.

”Our business”, she said, “is not to trust the judiciary. Our business is to overwhelm them with evidence”.

There’s the volume of evidence that would be brought before the judiciary, with all technicalities taken care of, and the judiciary would have no choice than to do justice.

Regardless, we keep eyes on the judiciary .

No hope is lost. If he has truly mastered it and perfected it, tell him to try and look for small money and get a prop firm account.

Prop firms are companies that fund traders to Trade for them and at the end split the profits 80 to 20. 80% for the trader and 20% for them of whatever profit he makes.

But they will first evaluate and test him before giving him real money to trade. If he pass, they will then fund him with real money. That's what most retail traders that don't have money to trade are getting.

He can get a $5000 account for $45 (N33,000) or $50 (N37,000) depending on the prop firm.

If truly he has really mastered the skill so well, this is the best option for him to go for.
Thank you.

I think they received instructions to the contrary to vote Akpabio instead of Yari.

I refuse to believe that Afam Ogene would go contrary to Obi’s direction on national TV if there was no agreement for them to do so.

You know they said Obi was supporting Yari but I think at the end of the day he realized that it would be wrong to have all arms of government headed by Muslims.

My point is that Obi is aware.

Emefiele succeeded in what he set out to do sir.

He succeeded in taking away cash from the system during the last election which made it almost impossible for Tinubu to buy votes with the billions of cash he had stashed away.

It’s the reason they are vindictively going against Emefiele now because he made it difficult for them to buy votes which made Tinubu’s declaration controversial. Had they bought votes, things would have panned out differently.

It’s the reason Tinubu lost the last election. Even though INEC criminally declared him.

PoliticsMy Wife Used Her Position To Favour Politicians - Sen. Bulkachuwa by Penguin2(op): 8:46pm On Jun 12, 2023
Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa has revealed that his wife used her office as president of the Appeal Court to favour his colleagues in the Senate.

Zainab Bulkachuwa was president of the Appeal Court between April 2014 to March 2020.

Mr Bulkachuwa made this revelation during the Senate valedictory session on Monday.

“Particularly, my wife, whose freedom I encroached while she was in office,” Mr Bulkachuwa said. “She has been very tolerant and accepted my encroachment and extended her help to my colleagues.”

The senator was still speaking when outgoing Senate President Ahmad Lawan, who presided over the valedictory session, cut in to stop the Senator.

“Distinguished, I don’t think this is a good idea going this direction,” Mr Lawan said.

Mr Lawan, who contested the All Progressives Congress presidential primary ticket in June but lost, returned to the Senate after a controversial and fierce legal battle with Bashir Sheriff Machina, who won the Yobe North senatorial primary ticket of the APC.

During the same valedictory session, Rochas Okorocha had mocked Mr Lawan on the circumstances surrounding his return to the senate without duly participating in his party’s primary elections.

Mr Okorocha, an outgoing senator representing Imo West, said: “I did not contest for the senate this period. I only contested for the office of the president. You are a very smart politician. How you came back to the Senate is another chapter in our political history that we need to discuss.”

Further mocking the controversial return of Mr Lawan to the Senate, Mr Okorocha said: “I was there in the field with you running for president, I never knew how you were able to meander, leaving some of us. Next time you must teach me how to do that.”

I am still sounding it. This is a skill any one who wish to learn should take time to learn it and master it.

50 million. God forbid. He simply isn't good with technical analysis and maybe excessive greed. There are certain things one needs to learn to become a professional trader.

Don't just go into it cuz you see people making money with it. Those people have paid their dues. If your brother can take his time and learn this thing, he will become good at it and he will recover all he had lost.

It is not a skill for the greedy ones. It is a life time skill that requires time, patience, hunger for knowledge and to fully master it. And when you master it so well, life will forever be beautiful.

Tell your brother to take his time and learn first before investing in it. Tell him never to focus on the money aspect. He should first get the knowledge. Seek knowledge and the money will flow effortlessly.
You are right. He was greedy at first. He was always trying to flip $4000 dollars into $8000 dollars within minutes. That’s how he incurred huge losses.

Now he claims he has learnt the skill but there’s no more capital for him to trade with.

I have relocated to Canada. I don't really have many regrets, except I should have chosen a different city with more job opportunities. and I should have acquired some certifications before coming here like health care certs, CPR certs, and the rest.
Those jobs pay well even for part-time.
Anyway, the bottom line is purchasing power in Nigeria is quite low now coupled with the insecurity. So starting a business is uninspiring. I would suggest you do some research acquire relevant skills and certificates before relocating.

This is not a very good piece of advice though. Yes he can factor the increased cost into his selling price, but would there be a demand at the higher selling price?

I have a friend abroad who opened a Dialysis Centre in Nigeria in 2021. Spent considerable resources importing equipments from the US, Turkey and Japan. He ended up closing the business because there was no demand at his selling price. This is a business that caters to a demographic that is conscious about and takes care of their health. Price increase meant a lot of the upper middle class couldn’t afford it. Real estate is mostly similar demographics to this healthcare business. Unless he is building for corrupt politicians, many Nigerians cannot afford the cost of buying a piece of real estate with the current state of the economy
When you are in business, you don’t care where the money is coming from as long as you didn’t join them in doing whatever illegal things they did to get the money. Your own is just to sell and get out.

Not everyone will afford a house. So, by going into property development, he already chose his market and would have to know that he won’t sell to paupers.

It’s like advising Rolls Royce to stop making expensive cars because British economy is nosediving. You know they won’t. They will simply increase the cost of their cars accordingly.

When you are going into business, you think like a businessman.

Even if a politician buys the house with stolen funds, when EFCC will come, it’s the house they will seize. Nobody will tell the seller to refund the money.

Good day Nairalanders. Pls I need some mature advice because I’ve been in a dilemma for a long time now concerning relocating abroad or staying back in Nigeria.
First of all I’m not a japa advocate. I believe if you’re doing well in Nigeria then there’s no point relocating abroad but I feel there’s so much uncertainty and I don’t know what the future holds for me in this country.

Now I’m a married man of 30 years. I will turn 31 by this September. We have no child yet but wife is preg now. I have a B.Eng in petroleum Engineering but have never worked in my life. My current business is crypto trading which I have been doing for years now. During the 2021 crypto bull run I made lot of money and acquired some properties that’s currently valued atleast 60-70m naira in total. bought my car same year and got married same year to my long time Gf, settled some family members etc . I don’t have any other investments or business aside my properties and crypto portfolio because crypto trading has taken all my time and I won’t complain because so far it has been good. Making money in dollars while in Nigeria is bliss. Even though we have been in bear season since 2022, I still make some money every now and then that’s sustainable for now until we hit another bull run which is likely to happen from next year 2024.

My fear lies here, on the long run crypto trading is not sustainable. If not for 2021 bull run I don’t think I would be in this position and even the projected bull run next year is not 100% certain

I plan on learning a programming skill which is very difficult, I tried learning it late last year but stopped along the line because it was distracting me from trading and missing some opportunities in crypto because making money is most important. Coding would probably take me a few years before I start earning even though it is sustainable long term but crypto trading can be life changing but not sustainable long term . It’s more like a gamble most times.

My plan A, is to gather enough money from now till 2025 which is the duration of the projected bull run if it happens and start investing in real estate development, Like building and selling and other businesses too but I don’t know how feasible that is in our present day Nigeria and if I don’t make my target amount, I might have to start with the available resources present.

plan B, gather some money, learn a skill then relocate to Canada with my family via study route since I don’t have any real work experience aside crypto trading but that would mean me going to study and starting afresh.

For my wife, she also has a degree in Human Resources with just nysc as working experience. She learnt wig making and installation and has been doing her online biz selling wigs etc.

Abroad folks, what are my chances abroad considering my current profile. Is it worth it coming over there to start afresh
And build? I have heard so many things how it’s hard getting a job and you have to rely on survival jobs for the first few years expecially for someone without any work experience.

I really don’t like joining the bandwagon cos everyone seems to be leaving, I love to weigh my options and hate taking unnecessary risk that might lead to regrets, at the same time don’t want to regret not leaving since I’m still young and have the opportunity that’s why I’m here asking these questions to learn from experienced and matured family men home and abroad the action they would take. We learn everyday,

For my unborn kids, if everything checks out, my plan is to give birth to them in either Canada or US for the passport and raise them in Nigeria and when they are grown, send them to study there and that is only if I’m not relocating. And if I’m relocating, what are the in-demand skills and professions I have to take since it’s clear I might be going to school because I hate survival jobs. What is your advice pls.
Mature advice pls. Thank you 🙏
@justwise @Disguy
You are already a millionaire in Nigeria and your kind of business is not affected by economic realities of the country. Why then do you want to throw your freedom away and move to another country to go and start living like a stranger in another man’s land?

That real estate business you thought of is good. Just make sure you don’t develop in the bush so you don’t have difficulties in selling.

About materials becoming cost, shebi if materials are cost you factor it into the cost of building the property which will then determine how much you would sell.

I’m not abroad but I think a lot of people that were doing well like you but chose to join the japa bandwagon always end up regretting it. So, think it through.

No, the hatred for all tribe is real. The hatred is just as much for Fulani/Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo.

But why Yoruba and Hausa/Fulani get away with stuff is because somehow somehow, they play more diplomatic politics than the Igbos and it seems they actually do have the numbers.

@the bolded, the only glaring way is to use ACN methodology. That is take control of your region totally, find a rallying figure with influence, form coalition with a string Northern Party, play the VP to the Northern candidate while consolidating your strength, then demand for the presidential ticket on a side of strength.

I’ve noticed something. Most of the Igbo leaders always seek for power on the side of weakness. Look at Kalu for example, him crying on the floor means nothing. You must be powerful and that is the only way people can fear you. If Tinubu wasn’t powerful, the Northern leaders would have betrayed him long ago and give it to another Northerner and heaven won’t fall.

But the people in APC understood that Tinubu is very powerful too, there is no way that he can be cheated and the party will remain in power. You sideline Tinubu, APC is done for forever. It’s not even about Yoruba alone, it’s about Tinubu influence.

After Tinubu leave the scene, it will be very hard for the Yoruba to get someone like him and that means it’ll be hard for us to get to that presidential seat if Nigeria still exist. If Osinbajo had been in Tinubu shoes for that APC primaries, they would have sidelined him & the Yorubas and heaven will not fall.
I agree with you that the hatred is on all ethnic groups with that of the Hausa/Fulani, Yoruba and Igbo most pronounced because of their numbers.

But you cannot, in all sincerity, pretend not to know that there seem to be a consensus against the Igbos as far as the seat of the presidency is concerned.

Like you rightly captured it…. Imagine Kwankwaso being more comfortable to be a minister under a Tinubu presidency than to serve as Vice President under Obi. I don’t think it’s because he didn’t believe that Obi deserved to fly the ticket as President while he serves as Vice, it’s simply because agreeing to work with Obi would have gone against their consensus against the Igbos.

But I agree with that what we need to do is to conquer our region politically and queue behind one leader who would now negotiate for power with an influential northerner. But the Igbo man mustn’t serve as deputy. All the biases can be extinguished with the right campaigns by the right people through the right media.

Lastly, I agree with you on what you said about Tinubu. APC knew that sidelining Tinubu would have meant death for the party as no northerner can win under APC if Tinubu pulls his bloc away.
