Politics › Re: Nigeria Police Service Commission Approves Promotion Of Frank Mba, Ciroma To DIG by Penguin2: 6:06pm On Jun 16, 2023 |
lhordspy: Mba has been fantastic, no doubt. But i dont think he can be picked. Mba is now a DIG, Moses Anbakina Jitoboh is also DIG, he was enlisted 1994. And he is to retire 2029, an advantage more than Mba's 2027.
Tinubu will want to bank on longevity. I think Jitoboh is the best suited for the job, the only thing going to play against him is that he is from the South-south. Out of the over 50 people from AIGs and DIGs. He is the youngest with more service year remaining.
If Tinubu has the intention of picking Mba, they wouldn't have promoted him. His safest place is the AIG. They could have put it that since he is the most senior AIG from east, reason he's chosen. His seniors from the AIGs rank from other region will understand. ..
Mba is DIG, he should be preparing for retirement as soon as possible. What if the reason Mba was elevated to DIG before appointment to IG is so that the present DIGs wouldn’t have to retire or whatever. Think it politically…. In the appointment of Service Chiefs, Tinubu needs to give something to the Southeast. I’m supposing that Tinubu would be more comfortable with conceding the IGP position to the Southeast than the Army, Navy or Airforce. Except he wants to exclude the Southeast like Buhari did. Which he can still do and heaven will not fall anyways 😏. |

fergie001: Alkali should have gone since March 1, 2023 ... Buhari left him there, I somehow believe he is on borrowed time, though.
If he leaves now, will you pick an IGP who was appointed AIG in April and DIG in June of the same year? Honestly, Mba's promotion has been meteoric. I think the only reason he’s getting away with these things is because he seems to be an exceptional officer. That’s why people are excusing it that he deserves it. Other than that, his promotions is enough to cause misgivings within the force. Regardless, Tinubu can still appoint him IGP and the rest of the officers would have no choice than to fall in line. |

senatordave1: I'll have preferred MBA but tinubu would have anmounced him rather than this dig promotion.again,I read somewhere that tinubu was looking at two officers on cp rank who had about 4 years, one is from SW,one is a northerner and that they were planning to promote them any time soon.the promotions obago Mba also has 4 years left in service. But Tinubu can do whatever rocks his boat. He’s the president now.😏 |

fergie001: See, IGPs are picked from AIG upwards.
We have had more who were appointed from AIG-rank than DIG. In the recent years, only this particular IGP was picked from the DIG position (he spent about 4 months in that position).
The Presidents we have had favour someone more younger. I doubt Mba will be recommended at least now, because we have a lot of 1990s above him. Well, whatever rocks their boat. |

lhordspy: Dont let your hopes up. Once an AIG is appointed as IG. Mba as DIG will automatically retire. Because i am also very sure Tinubu will want to avoid the buhari issues he had with retirement of police IG from Adamu to Usman Baba. Tinubu will want to appoint someone from AIG rank who still has like 5-6 years of service left.
Which means Mba has to retire due to seniority. I don’t know what Tinubu would do but Mba’s 4 years that he has left in office is not bad. Having enlisted into the force in June of 1992, he’s not likely to retire until May or March of 2027 (if he’s to proceed on 3 months leave before retirement) which means he might stay to oversee the 2027 general elections before retirement. I don’t think that’s bad for stability. |

fergie001: It will really depend on his seniors.
If many experienced ones will leave because of him, he will not be promoted. I think majority of his seniors are in the 1990 category.
He is 1992-set, his Seniors will determine how far he can go. If he is apponted now, it will rattle the Force. Ihordspy is up there arguing that he can’t be appointed because Tinubu would want to look at the rank of AIGs to appoint an IGP, meanwhile you are suggesting that maybe those who made the rank of DIG before him will be considered before him. Which way are we going? |
Politics › Re: Nigeria Police Service Commission Approves Promotion Of Frank Mba, Ciroma To DIG by Penguin2: 4:35pm On Jun 16, 2023 |
fergie001: I doubt because he is leaving in 2027, but who knows, he is not new to Lagos.
His MSc was at UNILAG, he has been DPO, Area Commander, Lagos PRO etc By saying he’s leaving in 2027, are you saying he has a short time to stay in the force or are you saying he has a long time? Because I’ve seen IGPs who were appointed when they had just a year and some months left in service. If Mba is appointed now, he’d have about 4 years to stay in service which would most likely make him one of the longest serving IGPs. Again, I’d speculate he’s in Tinubu’s good books possibly from his time in Lagos. |

fergie001: Udo is from Ikwuano LGA...
That's why I edited my initial comment. He is most senior by years of Service not rank.
Mba and Udo were promoted AIG the same time (April 2023). The former out-ranked the latter during their promotion to AIG, you don't expect me to give you the reason ooo
See once you get to CP, every other thing there na jara I think they are preparing Mba for IGP. I’m supposing Tinubu would be more comfortable having an Igbo IGP than having an Igbo man heading the Army, the Airforce, the Navy or CDS. But what do I know? |

The lead counsel for INEC argued that bringing the witness on short notice leaves the legal team of the electoral commission at a disadvantage. The Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during Thursday’s proceedings at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, presented Eric Ofuegbu, a professor of Mathematics at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, as their 4th witness.
The petitioners challenging the election of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election, also presented the ARISE News Director of Operations, Lummie Edevbie, as a subpoenaed witness and 5th overall witness for the petitioners so far, according to ARISE News.
However, Abubakar Mahmoud, the lead counsel for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) informed the Court that he had just been served the statement of the witness, Ofuegbu, on Thursday morning (today).
The lead counsel for INEC argued that bringing the witness on short notice leaves the legal team of the electoral commission at a disadvantage.
He described the action of the counsel for the Labour Party as an ambush and urged the Court to step down the witness to give his team adequate time to study the witness’ statement.
But Wole Olanipekun (SAN), the lead counsel for President Tinubu, said that he had no problem allowing the witness to give his testimony.
Olanipekun however stated that standing down the witness for a few minutes would not be out of place.
But the INEC lawyer interjected and said that the legal team of the electoral body would need about 48 hours, based on the pre-hearing report, to study the statement of a star/expert witness.
He, therefore, urged the Court to grant his prayer.
The Chairman of the Court, Justice Haruna Tsammani, in a short ruling stated that in the interest of justice and fair hearing, the witness would be led in evidence on Thursday while cross-examination will be held on Friday.
Meanwhile, part of Ofuegbu’s statement is data analysis of the presidential election results of Benue and Rivers states.
The statement also included blurred 18,088 polling unit results of the election.
The Labour Party also tendered a letter dated February 20, 2023, showing how Ofuegbu was engaged to carry out data analysis of the presidential election. Nlfpmod Mynd44

That girl just said the truth of how all those northern BDCs feel. Because with dollars now easily accessible from banks, do you think they will retain the kind of patronage they were used to having? Why go to risk your life inside Hausa quarters when your bank can give you at same rate? The only people that would still be their customer right now are criminals and yahoo boys who don’t want their financial dealings tracked. Aside them, this policy will cripple BDCs. |

This northern girl on Twitter has just criticized the floating of the Naira as an anti-northern agenda or policy.
But would you blame her?
The disparity in exchange rate has been to the advantage of northern Bureau De Change (BDC) operators who source their dollars from the CBN, sometimes below official rate, and sell to the public at black market rate.
These guys dominated that section of financial business for decades and constituted themselves as cabals against every efforts that had hitherto been made to unify exchange rate in country.
For them, Nigerian economy can cripple, due to low Foreign Direct Investment occasioned by the multiple exchange rate regime, as long as they are feeding fat.
I don’t like Tinubu’s face, but his calls so far has been commendable. The leeches on Nigerian economy need to start being poured some insecticide so that Nigeria can survive.

EFCC should be replaced with FIB ( Federal Investigation Bureau) with the task of working like Usa FBI You think the problem is in the name? Naaaah! The problem is in those who run the organization. When Nuhu Ribadu was there, did you not see how efficient EFCC was? Unfortunately, after him, clowns have taken turns as EFCC chairmen which is why the agency has now become a ridicule of its former self. The only reasonable suggestion I have for that agency is that EFCC should be merged together with ICPC. The two of them are doing the same thing. Then the appointment of its head should be more merit based than just appointing any idiot to witch-hunt the enemy of the president. |

Or alternatively, opposition members will be surreptitiously locked out until election of principal officers is over. But he didn’t do it.
