Saraki the Senate President was a British Citizen
Now have you asked why his case failed?

Have you asked if it was properly instituted?

Have you asked if the person that instituted the case had the locus standi to do so?

Saraki’s case was taken to court way after the window for such redress had elapsed.

Again, it was instituted by a meddlesome interloper.

Get your facts right.

This op with his/her half baked analysis all the time

Don't some of you people know how to give something a rest?

What happened to all the epistles you have been writing for years on this forum?
What epistles?

That you said Obi will not win a single Local Government during the presidential election, and I wrote to the contrary and stated how you were wrong.

Then you moved to “he will not win a single state; Atiku will win Anambra.” I wrote again to disprove your claim.

Then you moved to Obi will not get up to 1million votes and once again I wrote to demonstrate that you were wrong.

What happened in the end?

Did Obi not win a Local Government?

Did he not win a state?

Did he not score above 1 million votes?

Recall how I wrote here that Obi will win Lagos and you said it was malaria?

I said he would win Abuja and you said Abuja is Atiku’s fortress.

All of these came to pass.

What have I written here that was wrong?

The position of deputy governor is exclusively the affair of the party now.

If the deputy governor is disqualified by death, voluntary stepping down, resignation or court, the party nominates a new one. Or did anyone vote for Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat or APC?

You are not even bothered about Obi and GRV 's double nomination from both PDP and LP and also the fact that as at the time their names were sent to INEC as candidates, they were not even recognised members of LP.

One was cleared and screened by the PDP before he pulled out hours before the primary election.

Same as Peter Obi.

And as the electorla act has said, you can't contest for the same position in two different parties.

The legal knowledge of LP surpporters is really something to love
I thought you wanted us to stick to facts, why degenerate to emotional vituperations?

First, the Electoral Act says parties should submit their register to INEC 30 days before primaries, full stop. Did it say the consequences of not doing that? Did it say only those whose name are in the register are qualified to contest an election in such political party? Did the Electoral Act say people can no longer join the party after the register is submitted to INEC?

Again, about not contesting in two constituencies…. Oh! So you agree that double nominations is a ground for disqualification but you have always defended Shettima?

But gues what, unlike Shettima who got nominated in 2 constituencies, Obi and GRV only participated in the process of the primaries of another political party but never contested the primaries nor did they get nominated. So what law did that offend?

False. The act has been ammended after that incident to prevent such in future meaning only the deputy will be disqualified
You might wanna cite the Act or Law for verification.

Because that judgment was in 2020, and between 2020 and now, I’m not aware of any such amendment.

Pray, what amendment is that and who sponsored it?

Because I suppose you are referring to the amendment that was made after the Kogi saga, and not Bayelsa.

Because to make any amendments against that judgment would be to say that the governor and his deputy, or president and his vice, are no longer running a joint ticket. And if that be the case, then we will start voting for the governor and deputy governor differently.

For me, this is where you argument falls apart and becomes an interpretation.

Hamzat can rightfully argue that he has never sought to be elected Gorvernor and those parts of the constitution do not apply to him.

He only has to satisfy parts of the constitution relating to Deputy Governors.

Also per your argument of him stepping in if anything happens to the Gorvernor, this can be extrapolated to everyone in the hierarchy of governance in the state (after the deputy governor) starting from the Leader of the State House of Assembly leader. Do they all have to fulfill the constitutional requirement of a Gorvernorship candidate too?
No, you are wrong.

I know what I was saying when I said that every requirement for office of governor is equally required of a deputy governor.

It’s constitutionally provided for in section 187 of the 1999 constitution.

It’s not subject to whimsical interpretations.

Also, you are not comparing like with like.

In Diri vs Lyon, the Deputy Gorvernor elect was found to have actually flouted a requirement for ALL candidates presenting themselves to INEC for elective offices which was to produce true and proper copies of documents. Fake documents were produced which corrupted his and his Gorvernor's candidacy.

In this case, Deputy Gorvernor Hamzat has satisfied all the requirements for the position he is going for.

Clearly, no court will revoke the Senate President's election if they fulfilled the requirements for that position but not that for the President because they are third in line to the Presidency.
I cited that case because it is the most recent decision of the Supreme Court that established that the Governor and the Deputy Governor are tied to the same umbilical chord; that is to say that if anything is later found defective on Hamzat, Sanwolu goes with him.

I was referring to the case because its facts and materials are same with Hamzat’s present case.

When you realized Obi will win Anambra, you changed it to “he will not get up to 1 million votes”.

A written version of this news has been posted before on this platform, that a certain group, Coalition of Civil Society Organizations for Tinubu and Shettima organized a press conference and called on Peter Obi and Atiku to withdraw their case from Tribunal and support Tinubu since he (Tinubu) was already implementing the ideas they campaigned with during the elections.

Well, ordinarily nothing would have concerned me with that except that I went through the comments on that post and saw the comments of some Tinubu supporters suggesting that it was a made up story by Obi supporters to score whatever point they think it was meant to score.

That’s why I’ve had to bring the video here so that they can see that while they are on Nairaland grandstanding and arguing blindly, those who don’t lie to themselves and are aware of the goings on in the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal have seen that things are looking more and more bleak for Tinubu which is why they have chosen to deploy psychological manipulation to the issue by trying to paint Obi and Atiku as looking after self glory and not national and patriotic pursuit.

The conference had almost all the major media platforms present; from NTA to Channels to Arise, etc.

Now, I ask Tinubu supporters, did Obi organize all that just to pretend that Tinubu is jittery of the happenings in the Tribunal?

Or do you now agree that, away from your fake pretenses, the future is bleak for Tinubu and his illegitimate mandate which is why you people are now deploying media psychological manipulation to twist issues?

See, like I said many times, we shall overwhelm the judiciary with evidence until they have no option than to do justice.
PoliticsCan A Non-Nigerian Hold Executive Office In Nigeria? The Sanwolu Dilemma. by Penguin2(op):
At the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal today, a US based Immigration lawyer testified in court that the deputy governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, renounced his Nigerian Citizenship in order to acquire American citizenship in a place and date she cannot disclose due to some American Law against it.

Now, what does this portend for Sanwolu?

Trust me, if this is proven, then it’s “ite missa est” for Sanwolu. This is because the Supreme Court has ruled in Diri vs Lyon (Bayelsa Deputy Governor-Elect that had multiple names) that the Governorship candidate and his deputy are Siamese twins that are inseparable. Therefore, what happens to one, affects the other.

Now, why is the US immigration lawyer’s testimony a bad news for Hamzat?

Because the Nigerian Constitution states in section 177, that to be elected as governor of any state in Nigeria, you must be a Nigerian by birth. Now, we can agree that Hamzat is a Nigerian by birth but he has willingly relinquished that privilege when he renounced his Birth place (Nigeria) to take up the citizenship of another country. Or can his citizenship by birth privilege still subsist after he renounced Nigeria? I think not.

Now, is their any law against Hamzat’s action? Yes. Section 182 of the 1999 Constitution categorically states that one cannot be elected governor “if he has willingly pledged allegiance to another country”. That’s exactly what Hazmat has done.

NB: Every constitutional qualification requirement for the office of governor applies equally to the deputy governor since he is a “governor in waiting” should anything happen to the governor.

So, there you have it, except the petitioners fail to prove that indeed Hazmat renounced his Nigerian citizenship, or that Hazmat is able to prove that he renounced his American citizenship (impossible since it was stated in his INEC form), or some sort of technicality comes into play, Sanwolu will not be remaining the governor of Lagos State. And LP doesn’t even need to border proving rigging or voter suppression or failure to upload to IREV, this case alone, is enough to booth Sanwolu out.

But this is Nigeria!

All eyes on the judiciary!

PoliticsEnugu Governorship Election Tribunal Orders Mbah To Appear Before It On Friday. by Penguin2(op): 8:03pm On Jun 22, 2023
Just as the deputy governor of Lagos State was getting exposed to have denounced his Nigerian citizenship which renders him incapable of holding such executive office as he currently occupies (if the allegation is proven), the governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, was having his own dose of legal troubles as a representative of the DG of NYSC presented evidence at the tribunal to show that Mbah submitted false NYSC certificate to INEC which has forced the tribunal to order Mbah to appear before it on Friday (tomorrow).

Except technicalities, a lot of governors might be sacked by different election tribunals.

The Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, on Thursday, ordered Governor Peter Mbah to appear before it on Friday (tomorrow), to testify regarding his alleged forgery of his National Youth Service Corps discharge certificate.

The order followed an application made by the Peoples Redemption Party, through its Counsel, Mr Alex Amujiogo.

Mbah, who was declared winner of the March 18 governorship election in Enugu State by the Independent National Electoral Commission is facing a mounting challenge from the Labour Party candidate, Chijioke Edeoga and PRP candidate, Elder Christopher Agu over his alleged forgery of the NYSC certificate presented to the electoral umpire.

The PRP candidate, Agu like the LP candidate is seeking to upturn the declaration of Mbah as the winner of the 2023 governorship election in the state.

Agu in a petition filed before the Tribunal is claiming among others that Mbah was not qualified to contest the election, having allegedly forged his NYSC discharge certificate.

At the resumed hearing, on Thursday, the PRP’s counsel, Amujiogo told the tribunal that Mbah was supposed to be in court as a subpoenaed witness.

He, however, said from the affidavit deposed to by the bailiff of the Tribunal, it had been difficult to serve Mbah the summons.

Amujiogo then moved an application, urging the Tribunal to grant a substituted service of the summons on Mbah through his counsel.

Although the application was opposed by the three respondents, the INEC, Mbah as well as the Peoples Democratic Party, on the grounds that it was supposed to come by way of motion, supported by an affidavit during the pre-trial session.

However, they were overruled by the Tribunal.

Consequently, the Chairman of the Panel, Justice K. M. Akano ordered that the subpoena be served on Mbah through his counsel and that he should appear before the Tribunal on Friday, June 23, 2023.

Meanwhile, the PRP governorship candidate earlier during the session also testified before the Tribunal as PW2.

An official of the NYSC from the National Secretariat, Abuja, Mr Aliu Muhammed, who also appeared on behalf of the Director-General of the Corps, tendered an affidavit to the Tribunal, declaring that an order of a Federal High Abuja, was inhibiting them from tendering the disclaimer the Corps made against Mbah's certificate.

Muhammed was in court following subpoenas on NYSC.

Addressing journalists, PRP lawyer, Amujiogo said, “Our PW2 (Christopher Agu) has already testified before the Honourable Tribunal and he has given a clearer picture, the synopsis of what transpired during the election and we are urging the Tribunal to set aside the purported result in favour of Peter Mbah, the Governor.

“We had an issue of a subpoena against Barrister Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, in which the Tribunal is urging him to appear before it to clarify certain issues against him, based on his NYSC certificate and other matters.

“Surprisingly, he was not in the Tribunal today and the bailiff informed the Tribunal that he is invading service, he cannot find him, and the security cannot allow him to serve Mbah the subpoena.

“Then, the Tribunal in its own wisdom, after I have applied, has now permitted the bailiff or myself, to now serve Mbah through his counsel, for him to appear before the Tribunal tomorrow, being 23rd of June, 2023 and clarify certain issues against him before the Tribunal and we have already served him the said subpoena through his lawyer, Ik Onuoma today in court.

So, he must obey the summon of the Tribunal by appearing in person tomorrow, Friday.”

Meanwhile, the case filed by the Labour Party governorship candidate, Mr Chijioke Edeoga also came up before the Tribunal.

The pending interlocutory application which was filed on May 16 over Mbah's alleged NYSC certificate forgery, was moved before the Tribunal.

Edoga is asking the tribunal to disqualify Mba over the alleged forgery, an act that he claims, violates Section 182 (j) of the Nigerian Constitution.

During the resumed sitting of the Tribunal on Thursday, the Petitioners through their Counsel Mr M. J. Numa, moved their interlocutory application, after which the suit was adjourned for ruling on the application on Saturday, May 24, as well as a pre-trial report.

Addressing journalists shortly after the Tribunal's session, one of Edeoga's lawyers, Ifeanyi Ogenyi, said the proceeding was a continuation of the pre-hearing session.

I once did Cryto trading and i understand there are days transfer to a certain bank will be failing while other banks are going, there are days i will have to warn customers using First bank not to do transfer, those days GTB will fail and access bank will go was that NIBISS deliberately 🤣🤣🤣

Traffic is the major culprits here, Web servers have bandwith and it crashes mostly when Traffic surges high, within a min i can fund my sportybet account mid week but on weekends once matches start transaction begins to lagg
Lemme educate you a little.

While Commercial Banks use NIBSS, alternative payment platforms like Opay, Palmpay, etc, use NIP.

The NIBSS network was jammed because that’s the channel from which politicians would have chosen to move large volume of money electronically in the absence of cash.

The NIP network was free because the users of that platform were not the targeted audience. How many politicians have account on Opay or Palmpay.

See, I don’t know if you are being deliberate or do you really mean that you don’t know that withdrawal of cash from the system and poor experience in electronic transactions during the election was deliberate from the government?

No, i didnt argue that it must come from the AIG ranks. I only predicted the AIG rank would get the post. My prediction was based on past appointment. The constitution was very clear in the police act; IGP must come from rank not below AIG and DIG. So any of the rank can get the post.

Secondly, Egbetokun is acting-IGP, boss. And we all know why he is the chosen one. His close ties with Tinubu dated back 1999 when he was his CSP. And we also know the only thing that played against Jitoboh, like i said earlier is that he is from South-South.

I still believe someone from the AIG rank will be the next IGP. This move by Tinubu is to reward Egbetokun for his loyalty, prepare the DIGs for retirement, and give them more time. Including Mba Frank.

But congrats anyways to the SE on the appointment of Ikechukwu Ogalla as Navy Chief. The man was sidelined all along in the Navy force. Nobody saw his appointment coming. Are you now convince now that Tinubu's administration is going to be an all inclusive government?

There needs to be clarification on the promotion of Rear Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla to Chief of Nava Staff.

The last Chief from Iboland was under Jonathan. Ihejirika was from Abia State. Buhari did not appoint any Ibo into Chief position. Tinubu has appointed a Ibo Chief for Navy. Rear Admiral Ogalla is from Enugu.

There has never been a military Chief from Anambra. This is where the bad belle is coming from.

Those who understand the politics of Iboland will agree that Anambra people see themselves as the elite class of Iboland and they look down condescendingly on rest of Ibo States and their people.
