Charbliss90: Wait till election day to know if he's relevant or not i just dey pity you people, this are people who came from every local government of the State, you people can easily be deceived but till then sha. When you see crowd you should know what a crowed is, i just want you to have it at the back of your mind that as you people normally think it for other people many of those people there are only there because of 5k
I don’t need to wait till Election Day because I already saw what he can do on Election Day.
Just because he didn’t support Balablu in 2023, Tinubu lost Lagos and lost even Alimosho that is dominated by Yorubas and is Aregbesola’s fortress.
I have just received the very sad news of the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari in London. His death provides a solemn moment, not just for his family and close associates, but for our nation as a whole.
President Buhari has always comported himself in a dignified manner as a leader.
To his wife, children, extended family, and to all Nigerians I extend my deepest condolences.
May Almighty Allah, Most Gracious and Most Merciful, forgive President Buhari’s shortcomings, reward his efforts in service to the nation, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
Putindbutt: Lol, where's the mammoth?. Nathasha Akpoti is even more popular than this Governor of half salaries. We saw the crowd that received Nathasha. This crowd here don't pass beyond people attending a naming ceremony.
If you like, you can play the ostrich and bury your head in the sand and pretend not to see the crowd. But that will never change reality.
Your perception has nothing to do with reality on ground; which is that Aregbesola is still popular and would be the greatest antidote to whatever joker Tinubu is trying to throw in the Southwest in 2027.
With Aregbesola, Lagos votes will be protected. Thug for thug, war for war. Same across all Southwest states.
You will not have a repeat of 2023 where Obi got over 900k votes but was later cut down 540k votes because there were not enough men on ground to protect the votes.
The interim National Secretary of ADC, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, held his homecoming party today in Osogbo to celebrate his appointment, and there was large turnout of supporters who came out to welcome him.
Meanwhile, is this the man that Tinubu supporters want us to believe has no relevance anymore?
Because with the passing of Buhari, Tinubu’s biggest ally in the north is gone.
As inept as he was, Buhari still had large followership that if he was to be around in 2027, he would still tell his mumu followers to vote Tinubu and they would.
Now, that’s out of the way.
Let’s see how much Kwankwaso can bring onboard for him.
Where are Agbado corns who swore senator Ireti has left Peter Obi?
Peter Obi has not lost a single genuine supporter since 2023. All those who left are slies who have seen they can’t deliver on the job they were paid to do.
Tinubu sent Shettima out of the country to prevent him from saying another thing.
Shettima called his bluff by telling the world that the president does not have the power to remove even an elected councilor, obviously referring to what Tinubu did in Rivers.
Now the media is milking that statement and I’m sure Tinubu corns don’t know how to react.
NgeneUkwenu: They should sell the whole thing as scrap to Aboki baje baje! This was what I expected Tinubu to do immediately he was sworn in. The level of corruption in the so called Turn Around maintenance is mind boggling.
Rada rada!
But when we doubted the obvious lies that NNPC was churning out, you lots called us enemies of the country.
We told you those refineries were not working, and that NNPC was lying to you, but you swore they had been turned around.
Look at it now!
Time and time again we have been proven right for everything we ever doubted.
If only you lots will submit to our superior sense of judgment so we can get this country working.
ozo13: Hahaha.smartness .let's see as it unfolds.he knows obi can not defeat an Atiku in primaries but want to use obi's popularity to win imo state.smart man
Same you people have been swearing since 2023 that Southeast votes were rigged in Obi’s favour.
Now, you are saying that Ihedioha is supporting Obi so he can win Imo.
While Tinubu supporters are investing their time deriding Peter Obi for merely being part of a delegation that went to complain about Ports Congestion and ended up being co-opted to join the committee to clear the ports, Tinubu was deep in neck with Abacha even to the extent of drinking tea together.
In another picture, Tinubu can be seen as part of Abacha’s entourage.
Ikaeniyan0: He waited till his 8 year tenure was about to end before he held a kangaroo election. Obiano sacked every one of them because obi installed his loyalist as LG chairmen in a sham election
You people said he didn’t conduct LGA election for 8 years as a governor.
Now, we have shown you evidence that he actually conducted LG election and swore-in winners, and you are now shifting the goalpost that he did it 2 months to the end of his administration.
The two months to the end of his administration was his 11th year in office abi?
If una no believe Channels, una go believe The Cables.
Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), says Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, never conducted LG elections during his tenure as governor.
Wike spoke in Abuja on Sunday at St. James Anglican Church in Asokoro during a thanksgiving service held for the “successful completion of inaugurated projects” in the FCT.
The minister appeared to be taking a jab at opposition figures, accusing them of self-interest.
“You said Peter Obi will be president. President where? Some of you support people you don’t know, just out of emotion,” Wike said.
“He was governor for eight years. He never conducted local government elections — never. Nigerians weren’t angry. Nigerians were happy that he refused to conduct local government elections. Eight good years, he was governor. And you call that democracy? Only one man was governor of the whole state and all the local governments.”
Wike’s comments came days after opposition parties adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a coalition platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
His remarks reignited debate over whether Peter Obi conducted local government elections during his tenure as governor of Anambra.
BACKGROUND
Before the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling on local government autonomy in July 2024, state governors had sweeping control over local councils.
It was common practice for state governments to withhold LG funds and install caretaker committees instead of holding elections.
The apex court has since ruled that allocations from the federation account must be paid directly to local governments, bypassing the states in a bid to strengthen democratic governance at the grassroots.
Peter Obi served as governor of Anambra from March 2006 to March 2014, with interruptions due to court rulings and impeachment.
VERIFYING THE CLAIM
CableCheck found that on January 11, 2014, just two months before the end of Peter Obi’s tenure, local government elections were conducted across all 21 LGAs in Anambra.
This marked the first local government election in the state since 1998, breaking a 16-year cycle of caretaker administrations.
At the time, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the ruling party in the state, won 20 out of 21 local government chairmanship seats and 304 of the 326 (327) councillorship positions.
On January 13, 2014, three days after the elections, Obi swore in the newly elected council chairpersons and urged them to work with Willie Obiano, then governor-elect of the state.
CableCheck also found that the claim had previously been fact-checked after Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, made a similar assertion on July 12, 2024.
VERDICT
The claim that Peter Obi never conducted local government elections in Anambra is false.
BluntCrazeMan: They are waiting for when Fubara would be reinstated back to his Governorship Seat, so that they will judge that the case had been overtaken by events.!!
(That is definitely going to be a very wrong/poor judgement -- but they don't even care)
You have a point.
They are too spineless to make a binding judgment that would affect Tinubu.
All of them are paranoid. That’s why they’ve issued over 300 press statements and reversed some of their inhuman policies since the coalition was announced.
SamGift0817: Donu Kogbara, International Rights Activist has said that Atiku should not compete with them anymore and should be the father of the coalition. He is nearly 80, and if he rallies the northern votes for Obi, the coalition will do very well.
The same point I’ve always been trying to make my friend, fergie001, to understand but he doesn’t think it can work.
The truth is that if the northern stakeholders in this coalition are serious about rooting Tinubu out, they will deploy their arsenal and get the votes for Obi in 2027.
Tinubu is already a damaged product in the north. Campaigning against him will be the easiest thing to do.
fergie001: The bottom line for all of this is numbers.
Numbers they say, don't lie. Obi didn't win any of NW or NE, not even 25%, and almost all of the votes are in one of those two regions. I like the way you are calling names I wish you have this kind of names that will protect votes against the likes of Wike & Akpabio in the South.
See, one of my happiness with the coalition is that it has thrown up men in virtually all the states who will serve as the antidote to Tinubu’s “Rivers Template.”
You just asked about Wike (Rivers). Now, do you think that with an Amaechi in Rivers, Wike can pull off what he did in 2023 again?
Or you think with an Aregbesola in Lagos teaming up with other disgruntled elements, Lagos votes can’t be protected?
Again, remember that it’s still the early days of the coalition. With time more faces will show up across all the states including the south.
I don’t need to remind you that we don’t need anybody to protect our votes in the Southeast, do I?
fergie001: Let's be honest, he cannot beat Tinubu.
As long as that election will not be held only in Southern Nigeria, he cannot.
I don't want to factor the power of incumbency or free, fair and transparent election....he cannot. Elections are won, lost or rigged in the most rural parts of the Country especially up-North, he doesn't have these numbers.
Atiku will get the ADC ticket.
My point is, let’s say Peter Obi gets the ADC ticket and the coalition gives him Elrufai as running mate, are you telling me that the rest of the northerners in the coalition, if they are sincere, cannot deploy their foot soldiers to protect votes in the rural places of the north?
That’s the point I’ve been try to make you see.
How can you tell me that Atiku, Elrufai, Tambuwal, David Mark, Babangida Aliyu, and other unseen faces, cannot protect votes in the north?
Yesterday in church, Wike climbed the pulpit and accused Peter Obi of not organizing Local Government election for 8 years as a governor.
Well, that accusation has now been confirmed as false as indicated by this throwback video from Channels Television, Obi can be seen here swearing in 20 elected Chairmen of the 20 Local Governments in Anambra State.
Again, they have nothing on Obi that’s why they always resort to outright lies.
Chimarto: Anioma is something Tinubu will use to win vote from South East, Tinubu government favoured SE more than any region base on business. Business people were cashing out during the inflation base on subsidy removal because prices of goods was just not stable and unpredictable. As a worker I suffered and still feeling the impact.
Secondly, Tinubu want to unify South. If he loses the 2027 election Nigeria is gone into Federal Republica of Northern Nigeria and Republic of South Nigeria.
Watch out
So you are saying Tinubu will divide Nigeria if he loses?🤔
