oooabbeyooo: Gov Peter Obi,s achievement was payment of salaries & pensions, purchase of laptop for school children, creation of government farms. He didn't do much in terms of infrastructure.
Gov Oyetola did not do much infrastructure development in Osun and he did not achieve much except payment of salaries in Osun, couldn't even clear backlog, reason he lost elections coupled with the crisis he had with former Gov Aregbesola.
Gov Soludo,s move to borrow N100b for infrastructure development is a brilliant move. Infrastructure drives the economy and I believe in 30 years time the people of Anambra will remember the Gov and thank him for his leadership prowess.
Gov Fayemi of Ekiti State borrowed so much and was able to put in place a cargo airport, first of its kind in the State, with the promise that the state will now have the opportunity to transport her agricultural produce to the country to increase the IGR. We expect government owned farms to come on board too to actualise this dream since the economic mainstay is education and agriculture.
Borrowing for infrastructural development is a great leadership prowess. This should be matched with critical and strategic prioritization. Imagine PMB borrowing N36t ($75b) in 8 years to build a new single-train refinery to refine 650,000barrel/day and produce 50m ltrs of petrol daily for Nigerians like Dangote Refinery and ramp up power generation from 3.5GW to 30GW. This will bring relief to Naira and make it stronger against the Dollar. The country will also stop importation of petrol and the government may remove subsidy to have more revenue accrual. Also there will be electricity provided for the industries by the government which will reduce and eliminate the use of diesel-powered generator for operations and inturn reduce the cost of production. Steady electricity will also reduce data cost by 65% because diesel powered electricity generation accounts for 65% of data cost. All these put together will drive the economy by reducing cost of production and inturn reduce inflation rate, increase money supply to the government and inturn reduce interest rate and reduce exchange rate.
Compare these with building railways and bridges with N36t ($75b) in 8 years. Mass interstate transport is good for the economy but the impact isn't as significant as providing a Refinery and steady electricity for an economy like ours at this stage. That is the reason PMB still maintains that his government has done more in terms of infrastructure than the past administrations. That's true because he borrowed so much!
PMB would have solved a lot of the economic problem we have if he was able to prioritize the challenges properly. He made available so much money ($75b) but didn't use it effectively and the result is debt burden. Pretty soon we may be talking about bailout at the national level as we will be battling dwindling revenue at State level (hardship) because of NNPC Ltd.
My conclusion is borrowing can amount to a brilliant idea when deployed critically and strategically! Brilliant postulations! Like you said, it boils down priority. But I don’t think Fayemi borrowing to build Cargo Airport in Ekiti is such a brilliant idea. Does Ekiti need an airport, Cargo or passenger? Just like Ebonyi doesn’t need an Airport. Can Ekiti feed the airport? Do they produce enough Agricultural products for their own consumption before we talk of export? But I agree with you that if Buhari govt had deployed the billions they are using to build rail line from Kano to Maradi into the Power Sector, maybe Grid Collapse won’t be like a girl’s monthly period now. But trust me, Peter Obi did what Anambra needed when he was governor. He got his priorities right. That’s why Anambra people revere him. |

LordVoldermort: Let's look at it this way, which leaders do Igbos not hate?
Even before independence there's this strong hatred Igbos have for authorities and order, every leader is bad to an Igbo man, even when they do bad things for the good of the community they are still bad, the only leaders that are considered good are those who attack the authority who promote lawlessness.
Peter Obi was a nobody few months back but lately he's a hero why because in Igbos he is anti establishment not necessarily because he is a good leader, Okorocha would have received the exact praise if he was running on the same platform. Just take a look at yourself… What lawlessness did Azikiwe promote? What lawlessness did Michael Okpara promote? What lawlessness did Sam Mbakwe promote? What lawlessness did Alex Ekwueme promote? What lawlessness did Sullivan Chime (he’s even in APC) promote? These are revered former Igbo political leaders, loved by Igbos across board because of their demonstration of capacity in service. Talking about Igbos supporting Peter Obi for being against the establishment, what’s wrong about it? Would they be the first? Americans got tired of the establishment and voted Trump. French people got tired of the establishment and voted Macron. Ukrainians got tired of the establishment and voted a comedian. El Salvadorians got tired of the establishment and voted for Nayib Bukele, an outsider. How many do you want me to count? So what’s wrong in Igbos supporting someone who is against the establishment that has failed woefully in harnessing the potential of Nigeria? Or are you happy with the state of Nigeria today? |

When your foolish Kanu was running his mouth with all kind of hatred against other tribes how many people Igbos said he must be removed from facebook or other social media ? Reno dished you guys half of what Kanu the fool did you all call for his head. Okorocha and his boys pointed a gun at INEC returning officer to declare him winner after it was obvious he lost. The returning officer fearing for his life declared him as winner and went to INEC State Headquarters to make report that Okorocha and his boys forced him to to declare him. INEC took Okorocha to court and asked the courts to nullify Okorocha’s victory which he obtained under duress. I think the High Court nullified Okorocha’s victory but Appeal Court ruled in his favour. That’s how Okorocha became a Senator in Imo State. Fergie001 and Garfield1 will tell you about the case better. About OUK, his case is like that of James Ibori who stole from the people and has maintained popularity with the people by giving them back what he stole from them. Because of stipends he gives to them, OUK has continued to retain some popularity amongst his people of Abia North. But that hasn’t saved him from being held in disdain by the generality of Igbos. Now, I have answered you, can you now tell us which ones you people dislike because they are corrupt? |

Even northerners do not protect their corrupt ones like that.
Ganduje lost Kano state after he was captured on camera stuffing dollars in his Babaringa. If APC didn’t use remote control on INEC, Ganduje wouldn’t be the governor of Kano today.
Buhari kept winning elections across the north because the northerners see him as incorruptible.
Northerners never seemed to like Atiku because they perceive him as corrupt.
Only in the Southwest is known corrupt man with questionable source of wealth being worshipped and elevated almost to the state of a god. |

Got into argument with a Tinubu supporter who dubiously said that one day Igbos will start supporting Ikpeazu for presidency because he’s Igbo.
And I reminded him that 16 years after Orji Uzor Kalu finished as Abia Governor, Igbos never cease to lambast him whenever they can because we believe he failed in Abia. That’s why we didn’t lose sleep when he was jailed.
7 years after his time as Imo governor, Igbos form the greatest critics of Okorocha . Because he failed in Imo. Reason we didn’t lose sleep when EFCC was manhandling him.
7 years after his time as Abia Governor, Theodore Orji cannot show his face in public because Igbos will eat him raw.
In 2015, Ikpeazu lost Abia but Theodore Orji used his influence as former INEC Commissioner to get him declared and that was how Alex Otti was denied his mandate.
7 years into his time as governor of Abia and Igbos are the fiercest critics of Ikpeazu.
Willie Obiano, despite his sterling performance in Anambra, when compared to other governors in Nigeria, was never spared of constant criticism by Ndi Anambra and Igbos in general because we believed his performance was below par when compared to the performance of the man he succeeded.
Governor Ugwuanyi of Enugu state, despite his humane nature, prompt payment of salary, not plunging the state into debts, still dey collect am woto woto for our hand. In fact some of us call him “Madam Ugwuanyi” because we believe his performance is below par.
Talking about Hope Uzodimma of Imo State would be an overkill.
But not so with most of our Yoruba brothers .
Despite Aregbesola plunging Osun state into the worst economic crisis ever suffered by any state in Nigeria, these people still supported and defended him.
Despite Dapo Dagboru of Ogun State practically doing nothing for over 3 years now, they still support him.
Despite Tinubu’s many glaring atrocities, he’s their lord and saviour.
The only time they hate you is if you go against Tinubu like they hated Fashola, still hates Ambode and Osinbajo for daring to go against Tinubu.
So, which Yoruba politicians do Yorubas genuinely hate for being inept or for being corrupt?

A dumb black man goes to the bank to save his resources for banks to use, while his money remains the same the bank makes intrest lending to investors

He pays back the loan from his profit margin within 10 years and he has access to acquire more asset, and his business earnings would have afforded him another car and another house
10 years after saving, a dumb black man, buys a Tokunbo used by the intelligent white man, he buys UK used Iphone 8 used by the white dude, and buys his first land to build after 5 years of another savings

Because if you ever have, you would realize the stupidity of Tinubu’s mortgage economics. Things don’t always work out the way we plan them and that’s why you cannot advise anyone to take huge loans for startups. A lot of people who did have committed suicide while those still alive are either contemplating suicide too or are tired life.
