slivertongue: Politics is all about interest. Just push yours & don't attempt to demarket any group. The North is tired of ruling Nigeria but southern disunity is urging them on. Northern rule hasn't helped the North or Nigeria so there must be a paradigm shift “Politics is all about interest”. That’s what you said. Now, the Igbos think their interest is better covered by a northerner in 2023. Just like the Yoruba felt their interest would be best covered by Buhari in 2015. I hope you don’t have issues with that? About paradigm shift from northern rule, after 12 years of northern rule, 8 years of Southwestern rule, 6 years Southsouth rule with 8 years of Southwest Vice presidency, which region do you think deserves power in the south when we make a paradigm shift from the north? |

Ttalk: It is sad that your reasoning is purely sentmental.
Look, Yoruba know the game wellah, and one thing at a time in politics, Yoruba have not told you they would win in 2023, what they have done is to show interest and that is what sensible Igbo politician who want to contest should do.
Why are you pulling SW that is prepared down when you havent shown any interest?
Please stop disgracing Igbo race with this childish attitude, throwing away plate of food because your parent took a bite.
Does Nigeria practice a one party system where you expect every region to support one candidate?
Look, SW is never bothered whether North contest or not, what we are certain of is that SW has what it takes to slug it out with any region, politically, economically and educationally, SW is a partner in Nigeria project and will always remain so until the nation disintegrate. SW wouldn't succumb to your blackmail neither will it be intimidated by the north bullying.
My advice to you is to focus on how your region would present a credible and acceptable candidate to all Nigerians, until then, stop this southern unity nonsense you people are singing all about Did Nigeria practice One Party System in 1999 when the candidates of the major political parties were all Yorubas? |

Bendeco02: Yoruba knows which game? Shut up Oga
If other southerners start playing corny and asslicking politics like Yorubas, then till next 100 years no yoruba man can be president of Nigeria... Politics is a game of number, so forget all those ur long talk.
As it stands currently, South South & South East are one politically. If they choose to support any northern candidate come 2023 under PDP, then tell me how you guys can achieve that ur unrealistic presidential dream.
You guys will realise that u're on political isolation come 2023... As Buhari take congratulate Soludo (APGA candidate) that's how he will congratulate Atiku if he should contest against ur over hype Tinubu..
Average yoruba man think and reason like woman and sees that as smartness, that's why you don't learn from previous event's. Honestly, they seem to not learn from the past or rationalize the illogical rather than take a lesson from history. The mistake Tinubu made in 2015 is the same mistake Awolowo made, same mistake Abiola made and at both instances they never got what they were looking for. But Tinubu couldn’t take a cue from that, he took same road as well. And unfortunately like those before him, it will lead to doom. |
Politics › Re: Would You Rather Vote Another Fulani? by Penguin2: 4:13pm On Nov 10, 2021 |
Justmesagi: Tinubu is not synonymous with Yoruba. He has a political structure and that structure is majorly comprised by the Yoruba. So he will consider their sentiments in other not to offend them. As it is, I am not sure the majority Yoruba sentiment is favourably disposed to conceding the presidency to the Igbos that will then prompt Tinubu their leader to throw his weight behind an Igbo candidate.
Secondly, are your political leader reaching out to him? Are they keen on working with him? Are they ready to ally with him? No!
This is politics without emotion. Majority of Yoruba sentiments is not favourably disposed to concede the presidency to the Igbos because of the kind of rhetorics that the Yoruba leaders like Tinubu have engaged with the Yoruba populace. But even that too can still be changed. Tinubu being leader of the political structure, can decide to speak to their conscience and make them understand why it’s necessary to concede power to Ndigbo in 2023. I don’t see them saying no. About our political leaders not reaching out to Tinubu, that is because Tinubu himself does not look as if he is disposed for any entreaty from Southeast. Check the record of his itinerary since 2015 for instance. How many events has Tinubu attended in the Southeast and Southsouth since 2015? None. This is somebody who is always at northern events. Even his SWAGA. They are campaigning everywhere else except Southeast and Southsouth. So how do you send political emissaries to somebody like that? |

So as u can see, it's a comparison between Yoruba and Fulani.
Let's be honest bro. Chances are slim because the Yorubas are insisting on contesting. Have you imagined what will happen if Tinubu should make a public statement and throw his weight behind Igbo presidency? Then both APC and PDP would have Igbo men as candidates. Would the chances still be slim? |
Politics › Why The North Should Prepare To Rule Nigeria For A Long Time. by Penguin2(op): 1:05pm On Nov 10, 2021*. Modified: 4:36pm On Nov 10, 2021 |
As 2015 Elections drew nigh, Tinubu led the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, a dominant party in the Southwest, into an alliance with CPC, a predominantly northern party, and other parties into an alliance that birthed the APC.
The APC went into the 2015 elections with Buhari, a northerner, as candidate and subsequently won the election.
But that came at the expense of the then president, Goodluck Jonathan, a southerner.
So, against southern interest, and against every reminder of Buhari’s antecedents of incompetence, majority of Southwest voters helped Buhari to power.
And that was how a southerner lost power through the help of southerners.
Now, as the 2023 elections approach, discussions are on, on who should succeed Buhari and ironically, the region who threw Southern interest to the winds in 2015 seem to be at the forefront, championing southern interest. They have tried to remind all who cared to listen that it won’t be good for southern interest if another Northerner succeeds Buhari.
And you are forced to ask them, “where was your knowledge of southern interest in 2015?”.
Surreptitiously, these folks seem to talk about southern unity and interest when it will favour them. And when it doesn’t, then they work against it and call it “sophistication”.
But in 2023, it’s either the Southwest endorses the Southeast for the presidency which would unite the entire Southern Nigeria behind an Igbo presidency, or power will go back to the north. F***k Southern unity and interest.
This is because any political watcher who wants to be realistic with himself, knows that a southwest Presidential candidate won’t have the votes to guarantee him victory.
Let’s check things out a little, the Southwest is not even a sure straight victory for him not to talk of the north where he might be squaring up against PDP’s northern candidate. So if the north does not vote for a Yoruba candidate then he’s gone because he’s an orphan in the south.
But not so with the PDP candidate. With PDP candidate likely coming from the north, PDP is sure of at least half of northern votes plus the votes of Southsouth and Southeast and the PDP northern candidate will be declared winner.
Another thing you need to consider is that in 2015 when APC won, almost all northern influential political power broker were in APC. From Atiku, to Kwankwaso to Saraki to Tambuwal and many more. While others who were not fully into politics like IBB and co, provided tacit support. But these men are back to the PDP and that means a lot. Except you wanna live in denial.
Now, in 2031, after PDP’s candidate’s likely 8 year rule, the PDP might justifiably want to give its ticket to an Igbo man. Now the Southwest, fearing that Power equation may not favor them if a Yoruba man insisted on the APC ticket, might concede the ticket to a northerner who they would hope would help them win an Igbo PDP candidate in the elections.
Now, let’s assume the northern APC candidate wins the Presidency against the Igbo man in 2031, then the Igbos will wait for another 8 years to exert their own revenge in 2039 by supporting another northerner to take the PDP ticket instead of a Yoruba candidate winning the election.
And that’s how the vicious cycle would continue ad infinitum until maybe Nigeria disintegrates or the South comes to its senses.
But there’s a shorter route out of the whole mess; and that’s by the Southwest throwing their weight behind the Southeast bid for the presidency in 2023. With that, Igbo men would emerge candidates of both APC and PDP and whichever party that wins, it would be victory for the southeast and Southern unity would be cemented and whenever it is the Yorubas’ turn for power, the Igbos will throw their weight behind them.

Justmesagi: Because you want to spite the Yorubas you will unwittingly sell your descendants into timeless slavery? Think!
The Yorubas are much more open to negotiation than the Fulanis who are authoritative. They will listen to your plight and try to address it.
The Yorubas are much more diplomatic than the Fulanis who are forceful. They will not "treat you in the language you understand" like Buhari threatened.
They are much more civilized than the Fulanis whose representative in the person of Buhari is finding grazing route in the 21st century. They will introduce developmental policies that will move the country forward irrespective of region.
I believe they have much more tendency to follow the rule of law and address the default in federal character created by this nepotic government.
They match the Fulanis in being cunning and are much more intelligent than the Fulanis. They will deal with the Fulani stealthily.
Don't be emotional. Think, think, think about your unborn child. Think about your people. And an Igbo man lacks this capacity? Or you think the Igbo won’t win with Yoruba support? Is there no Igbo man with the capacity to do the things you enumerated? |

Biafrarep: For Abia State to be in same league with Ekiti and generating less than Ebonyi is actually scandalous.
If Abia State potentials are optimized, it should be earning among the highest IGR in Nigeria considering the potentials in the state. However, it is not only Abia State that has defied logic in this IGR issue, I think Kano is equally doing terribly in that aspect, they're actually the worst because with all the federal government allocations, trade and commerce, industries and bloated population, that state should be in the first 5 states in IGR generation.
The reason why Abia State is at that embarrassing position is because of poor governance. There is almost non existent infrastructure like good roads and ease of doing business which is a disincentive to tax payment. If you own a business in the city and the road leading to your factory is impassable causing you losses in revenue you will never want to pay tax. Nothing really concerns me with Kano... However, what you said about Abia is true. Abia has the potentials to be at par with Anambra in terms of IGR grossing but lack of good leadership since 1999 is why the state keeps regressing. No roads, no infrastructure to attract businesses. It’s terrible |

ScamHunter: In 2015, Yoruba exhibited treachery against the south. In 2021, they're exhibiting greed, so all the south will help them out. 2023 will either be an Igbo president or even Buhari can continue.
Yoruba backed Fulani in 2015 despite Igbo warning. Fulani turned around and started kicking Yoruba people out to Republic of Benin in continuation of a Jihad that Igbo officers stopped in 1966. Since Yoruba love Fulani so much that they so not mind going on exile for them, Igbo and the rest of the South will help Fulani achieve their dream of turning all Yoruba land to another Ilorin.
The futility of Yoruba imagination is their belief that treachery is sophistication. So the choice before Yoruba is between greed and concession. Only an Igbo president from southern unity will stop the impending exodus of Yoruba people. Back Igbo president and be safe or continue with your greed an go on exile. The choice is yours.
If I am in Nigeria in 2023, I'll definitely back a Fulani if there is no consensus for ALL IGBO aspirants from the south. Who will vote a Yoruba man in the south? Who will back them from the north? Lubbish. God bless you plenty abeg. The Op is seeing the impending defeat of a Yoruba APC candidate. That’s why he’s now lamenting. |

Justmesagi: I have seen and read here and other media outlets some comments like: "I would rather support Atiku instead of Tinubu", "if the Southwest are playing smart the North should contest in 2023", "Yorubas are too greedy" and so on....
I want to believe that this sentiment of voting in another Fulani in 2023 is limited to a minimum percentage of our population in the South. How would you vote another Fulani because you want to spite Tinubu or the Yoruba people and then face another 8 years of hardship? Think.
Economic downturn, worse Hdi, higher unemployment, nepotism, all round failure should make you have a logical rethink if you aren't blinded by hate. Or is this just a scare mongering strategy to deter the Southwest from presenting a candidate?
If so, where are your candidates from the East and South because pdp has had there convention and aspiring candidates have bared their ambition. Non from the East.
If you are hoping of contesting under APC then you are being unreasonable and hopelessly hopeful. Why? You have been in the PDP for so long yet they didn't consider you worthy enough to allow you contest under their platform. So why would the APC of yesterday trust you with the mandate? Secondly, you never laboured enmass (I repeat, enmass) to bring the APC to where it is today, or let me say your region is not a major shareholder in the party to be considered as strategic and so deserves compensation with the party ticket.
I am not saying I will support Tinubu or Osinbajo or any Yoruba candidate if they will be contesting against any Eastern or South South candidate in 2023, but I will definitely support a Yoruba candidate over another Fulani in 2023.
A lesser evil is manageable between two evils. Why didn’t Tinubu think about these things you enumerated in 2015 when he went alliance with Buhari, a known bigot with no educational qualification? You guys were ready to vote for him even if he presented NEPA Bill as certificate. Take a chill pill. In 2023 we are ready to vote even a northern slowpoke with Newspaper used to wrap Suya as certificate. Maybe by 2031 we will now sit down and talk about Nigeria’s progress. But if we never learn our lesson, then the vicious cycle will continue. |
