The truth is there's nothing impossible under the sun. However, It is usually a big hurdle to cross when you have a Bsc already and you are going to the states to get another Bsc. Though, I have seen one or two persons scaled through at the embassy before. I will tell you it doesn't worth the stress at all. You can get to USA and switch to even college. This should answer your first question. Secondly, Whatever that is worth doing at all is worth doing well. Having said that, it is not advisable to study for 2 weeks for GRE & TOEFL, you will crash. Lastly as regards center that is a subject to your present location. Everything written here are all my opinions. Selah Morountoju: Good day house. I am new to the forum but want to say thank you to those who make out time out of no time to guide people here.
I recently applied to a school and was given admission, I am currently at the point of processing the I-20 and booking interview date but reading page 3/4 where it says to follow a logical approach BSc-MSc- PhD, I sort of want to halt this and look at the postgraduate option.
I have a couple of questions. First will it still be an illogical approach if I have a Bsc and want to pursue a diploma by starting from the scratch in another discipline due to change of interest?
Secondly is it possible to read and write GRE& TOEFL in 2weeks. Please can anyone refer a centre. I am looking at Fall 2020.
Thanks. |

It depends on where you’re traveling to. But to US there’s no need for yellow card. I know it’s a requirement before you can land in SA Ajibade105: Who has traveled lately from Nigeria airport? I had no one can travel out of Nigeria without a yellow card. How true is this? |

Thanks for the advise. It actually helped I am actually going with the school with $4k deficit. Are you saying I can put my dad as sponsor on I20 and use my uncle's SOA for interview? sultanfortune: Both universities are ranked in the regional universities category.
While the Eastern Illinois University is ranked 40 in regional universities Midwest, Western Carolina University is ranked 23 in regional universities South.
At this stage, I don’t think ranking should be your priority, would you rather go to Western Carolina University because they are ranked 23 in regional universities South with 20 something thousand dollar deficit, or would you not be better off with Eastern Illinois University with deficit of 4kplus.
Again, your chances of being denied visa with 20kplus deficit is on the high side regardless of ranking than when you are going with a similar regional ranked school with only 4K deficit. The question now is, will your father be able to even foot the 20k plus deficit. To me, 4K plus is still reasonable for him to be able to foot without grumbling.
With regards to statement of account, YES you can use your uncle SOA to get your I-20 and attend the visa interview, while your dad get the funds back to foot your deficit when resuming in school.
I hope this helps. |

Good Afternoon everyone.
I was admitted by Eastern Illinois University for FALL 2019 with no funding and my Tuition and Living expenses was estimated at $25,598.
I was actually denied and I was forced to defer the admit till FALL 2020.
I paid application fee and I was readmitted given GA that comes with a monthly stipend and also a tuition waiver.
I sent an inquiry email to the International Students office inquiring about what my statement of account for I20 to show and I was informed that I have a deficit of just $4,598.
Meanwhile, I applied to Western Carolina University for FALL 2020 and I was added a GA of $11,500 but it doesn't come with tuition waiver and an inquiry mail showed I have a deficit of about $23,500.
Here is my challenge:
Does anyone here knows which school is highly ranked among the two of them?.
Secondly, my dad is my sponsor, but he doesn't have such amount presently for both deficits in his account because he has used them up for investment that wont mature till July. Can I indicate my dad as sponsor on form DS-190 and present my maternal Uncle's statement at the embassy for the interview sake or how can I go about it. |

Is it compulsory that a letter of recommendation must be from a Professor?
Does it make much difference when applying? |

Thank you Boss fairheart: If the transcript is in English, WES will evaluate it. If it is in French, which is likely the case, you will need to translate it first. However, contact WES or go to the website to see official document requirement for Benin Republic. It is there. |

Sincerely, only a VO can answer this your question. madamL: Well done everyone and I appreciate the great work you're all doing. I read a lot about VOs and the embassy asking about strong ties to Nigeria. What happens in a situation where a girl is single, in her late twenties and about to go for a Master's program. She has been given admission, a great assistantship, a very good monthly stipend and a full tuition waiver. Will her single status count much? |

I had HND in food science and technology too and I am currently admitted to 3 schools in USA. All you need to do is request your ND and HND transcript be evaluated by WES and you will be fine. Avoid schools that doesn't require credentials evaluation. NairaLuck: Good evening everyone, I'd really appreciate enough answers and suggestions to this enquiry.
Got HND in Business Administration Management (2.9/4.0). Is it possible to apply for masters directly? What courses are advisable to pursue or which Universities accept HND Certificates so I can enquire on the available courses? do I need exams to apply for assistantship? Lastly, is immigrating to USA via study route still feasible? Lastly I can get my transcripts (ND and HND) in less than a week, but can I use my own transcripts to apply or my school would send to the receiving school. Any other advise or questions would be appreciated.
Thanks |

I was denied visa in July for FALL 2019, so that prompted me to defer the admission till FALL 2020. Now I have been readmitted for FALL 2020 with GAship at EIU. I need to know if I need to do anything with my SEVIS fee considering it was for FALL 2019. My form I-20 will arrive in March 2020 with the GAship letter.

I work in a bank, the most important thing is the receipt number like she said. Cheers PtBlank: Good morning nairaland,
I sent someone to the bank to help pay my visa application fee. When he sent me the receipt, I noticed that there was an error on my passport number. It starts with A0 but AD was typed on the receipt, every other detail was correct. So I told my friend to go back and show them the error.
The lady who issued the receipt at the bank acknowledged it was her error and apologised, however, she said another receipt cannot be issued and insisted that the error doesn't matter and that there have been cases like that with no issues. According to her, the most important thing is the receipt number which I need to book an appointment. Has anyone had this kind of experience before? Is she correct? |

who dines with his or her enemy, who? zakim: The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite has said Nigeria will collaborate with South Africa to develop its solid mineral and mining sector. Adegbite stated this at the ministerial session at the ongoing 9th Session of Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) which kicked off in Pretoria, South Africa yesterday.
A statement by the Ministry said the meeting was timely and mutually beneficial as it provided opportunity for the two countries to discuss cooperation on different sectors, particularly the Mines and Steel Sector. “South Africa just discovered crude oil and they need our experience in terms of petroleum exploration especially offshore while they are very advanced in mining and we are learning from them to avoid pitfalls that they had.
We need to understand the steps they are taking especially in terms of environmental degradation, how mining can be properly done without salvaging the environment, it is really a symbiotic relationship,” he said. The Ministerial Session which was co-chaired by the South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr Naledi Pandor and the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Godfrey Onyeama, received, analyzed and adopted the submission of the outcome of the meeting of senior officials from both countries.
The Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Government of the Republic of South Africa in October, 1999 established a Bi-National Commission (BNC) called Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (NSABNC) as a mechanism for a sustaining bi-lateral High-level dialogue to promote and increase cooperation in diplomatic, economic, security and other areas of mutual interest.

Everyday, we will continue to appreciate Jonathan CuriousMynd: Policemen deployed to National Stadium Surulere Lagos State has dispersed RevolutionNow protesters with tear gas.
A FoxMeek correspondent who was at the scene on Monday morning reports that security personnel positioned to the Stadium fired tear gas at protesters.
Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, had called on Nigerians to come out for what he tagged #RevolutionNow protest against the government.
Mr Sowore was, however, arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Saturday.
Justifying Sowore’s arrest, the DSS said his action is a threat to public safety, peaceful co-existence and social harmony in the country.
