Likewise for the WASSCE evaluation, do I need to still request that WAEC sends statement of results when WES requested for result checking card?

These are the kinds of people who should help us write historical books on the generational changes within the country. Lest I forget, Lagos Parks is one of the legacies of Fashola that Ambode got right; it somewhat gave Lagos the feel of a metropolitan State. I hope they keep it up. |

If yes, enter. If not, plan on gathering it now as you enter. Same with reference letters. You can do medicals when you get ITA or book now. Other docs can be gotten before your AOR deadline. Thank you. I will work more on the POF. However, are you advising that I do medical now even though I have not entered the pool due to the wait on my masters certificate needed for ECA? |

Sorry, to avoid complications, I take things one at a time. I am not too sure of the other requirements though but just wanted to be sure the low score in writing won't affect me. Now that it seems I have scaled IELTS, I can focus on WES evaluation. If there is another requirement I should consider, please let me know. Thanks |

asiga: While Amaechi has declared full support for the AAC governorship candidate in Rivers hasn't been suspended. Let us try and be objective. Who is the gubernatorial candidate of APC in Rivers State; I guess you know that they don't have so Amaechi isn't going against his party by supporting Biokparo of AAC. However, in Ogun state, Amosun is still a card carrying member of APC, which has a gubernatorial candidate, yet he chose to support the candidate of APM; if that was how the party was when he contested for governorship in 2011, I can bet he would have lost and not be forming godfather today. Now to Rochas, he won his governorship election with the APC ticket, yet now that he is about leaving, he is trying to impose on the party; forgetting that the party is bigger than him and he can't be a member of same party while going against the gubernatorial candidate of the party. Back to your criticism of Amaechi, he never went against the party. He only chose to put his weight behind another candidate when his party candidate could no longer be fielded due to internal rancour. |

The 1.1 is for the 10% increment on the initial principal per day hence 100%+10% = 110% and equivalent to 1.1. This implies that 10% increase for 10 days on the investment will generate 159% increment; (25.94-10)/10 |

I guess you know one of the guys this affected or maybe you're even one of them. But in case you do, in the offer you received to come to the training school, did you see any statement thereally telling you that it's chevron inviting you for the job or was the letter addressed by Chevron or does the paper they used have the chevron logo?I don't think you understand English so I won't respond to you anymore after this. In your typical manner of I-too-know and confused assumptions, you didn't answer any of the questions I raised; they would have answered all the questions you asked and given you more credible understanding of the VTP/OTP programme. I however want you to know that the complaints of those guys surpass your bloated ego and justification of what is inadmissible in normal climes, but as typical with Nigerians like you, once it doesn't affect you, you like to blab and form untouchable, so if I may beg your pardon, stop making a fool of yourself Mr. ITK, who knows those who don't understand English. |

smeag0l: For your information, I got the same job in 2013 but I didn't take it because I was already working somewhere. What you're saying now is the reason why companies like this make a clear distinction between their staff and contract staff recruited by other companies to work for them because of accountability and legal reasons. Chevron does this training for two years for people recruited by a coy contracted to chevron. Chevron reserves the right to either employ these people after the training or send them away. This is not their normal graduate recruitment scheme as they do that one every 4 years and recruit Nigerian graduates who are their permanent staff. Why should they employ people that they don't have any contract with nor promised anything simply because they trained them? And just to let you know, I can't fall into such arrangents cos I've passed that level years ago.Now face your studies so you'll be able to get good grades and then use it to get something doing for yourself. Smeagol, your arrogance and illusion is apparent from your last statement; you feel on top of the world, because in your mind, you are bigger than everybody here. Lol @ face my studies; if only you know. Back to your claims, you said you were called in 2013 for the same program, so if I may ask you; what do you know of that programme, which year did it start, how many groups have they trained and how many have they staffed. Likewise, do you have any idea of any other country in which same Chevron runs that programme and how they have handled their trainees; has any of those trainees been put in a contract position? Like I already said before, don't pretend to know what you don't know; half knowledge breeds mediocrity. Have a good day. |

smeag0l: Chevron didn't recruit those people. Even in the US, a company you work for has no business with you of youre a contract staff working with them. The people they have business with is your employer.Well, I don't have to argue with you cos you're still in the university. When you're done you'll understand what the labour market and employment means. You think you know, but you obviously know nothing about the issue you are arguing about. Find a person involved or read more about the issue to fully comprehend their debacle. Just hope and pray that you don't fall into such nondescript arrangements by any company; maybe then, you will understand things better. |

jeff1607: if a woman really wants to get pregnant bro there's nothing you can do.
why not let them be ,get married and move on with your life. I somewhat see this as the best advice. It will be practically hard for you to win the case 1. You didn't marry the woman so she can claim the baby is not yours; don't be surprised how far women can go when they want to spite you. 2. You admitted not paying the basic bills for the child's upkeep at pertinent times. While I don't blame you for this, knowing finances could have been an issue, their lawyer will blow the matter out of proportion by making you look irresponsible without means of taking care of your child. 3. The most important person is neither you nor your baby mama but the baby; you are a man and obviously still career oriented. You may not have the means and time to properly take care of the baby so I won't advise you to see for custody of the baby now. Find elders within the baby mama family who your family can talk to and make amends on your seeing the child at apportioned time. Importantly, work harder, focus on becoming bigger and more stable; I can promise you they will bring the child to you when she grows older. After all, you can't be Dangote's kid and allow your mom to dissuade you from meeting your father. Just follow the path of peace in seeing your daughter |

Education › Re: Ahmadu Bello University Online MBA; A Mistake I Wish I Never Made by perfectgen(op): 3:17pm On Jan 15, 2019 |
perfectgen: When in early 2017, a friend brought to my notice a first of its kind online MBA program here in Nigeria, I couldn't really believe him but when he opened the appealing advert of the ABU Online MBA, I got immediately interested as I had been looking forward to obtaining a MBA.
I fully researched the program and everything looked perfect; I checked the course structure, delivery, fees and observed it was something I could do in my spare time, while still working.
In terms of structure, it was slightly self-paced but I was expected to pick up materials and prepare for exams; which I learnt were mainly computer-based tests at that time. On the issue of delivery, I learnt that there was an e-learning suite to deploy most of the course and I was going to be assigned an e-tutor for all courses I was to take; this I learnt should be about 24 in all. On fees, I learnt the current students were then paying less than 500 thousand naira overall hence reasonably affordable for me.
Fast forward to May, 2017, I encouraged three other friends and colleagues to start the program and as we were about to register, we observed a change in fee structure; instead of the normal bulk fee, we were now to pay 10 thousand naira for electives and 20 thousand naira for core courses. This naturally increased the expected fees but in my gullibility, I felt i could still manage to afford it.
To my amazement, midway into the first semester, there was a change in the delivery structure, while some courses had committed e-tutors who were available to explain whatsoever challenges we had with the courses, some e-tutors were just non-existent. Another issue is the review of the examination twice within one semester; we learnt on NUC's insistence, the course had to be 50% theoretical paper/50% Computer based tests but later changed it to 30% assignments/30% Computer based tests/40% theoretical papers.
In my typical perseverance, I adapted and continued with the program but observed midway that instead of the initial 24 courses being planned for, the courses had changed to about 30 in all.
By the next semester, all fees were changed to a flat 20 thousand naira. I was already in the middle of the river and having no choice, I continued with the program. Then came increment of offered courses to about 36 before finishing the program with all additional courses estimated at 20,000 naira per course. The painful part was that these courses were more or less repetitions; a course was sometimes divided into three parts just to ensure that instead of us paying 20,000, we get to pay 60,000.
Just after complaining of the increasing fees and reduction in the quality of the programme, slight adjustments were made; this was insufficient in my dousing my increasing regrets for starting the program. Surprisingly, the university, introduced what they termed late registration fees; this was supposed to be added fees for registering late even though you will not be allowed access to the platform nor educational materials until you make payment. We could do nothing about it as all complaints were either not attended to or brought with it, further problems. As if that was not enough, very close to exams, I observed additional 10,000 naira on the fee retinue; this was tagged examination fees. I felt the essence of our paying the 20,000 naira was to ensure everything relating to the individual courses was captured hence why add a fee that we were not told of at the beginning of the program and just when we were preparing for exams; when it was already confirmed that we have already made payment for the semester.
I became frustrated, and felt like just dropping out; having seen three of my colleagues drop out due to increasing fees. Coping financially was becoming hard for me and continuing with the program was becoming suffocating.
I forced myself to continue the course; being someone who hardly gives up, but on entering into the fourth semester discovered that there were now new split courses which were illogical. We had courses like Seminar, Project 1, Project 2, internship etc. which were not going to be taught but we still had to pay for; we complained and expected palliative measures only to wake up and hear that the course delivery has been changed to single delivery which implies that the flexibility of the program was more or less gone and with it came the realization that the core focus of an MBA; practical orientation and fundamental understanding of key concepts was no more assured. I computed everything I have paid for a programme that I have little or no say in and observed I am just a little bit short of 800 thousand naira yet I still have one full semester to go that I still have to pay for. I have to admit that I have been hoodwinked into thinking the ABU online MBA can give me what other international online MBAs could have given me; though the fees are fast getting similar. I seem to be in a one-chance vehicle but not knowing if its is sane for me to jump down. I woke up this morning to see that another 20,000 naira has been added to the fee retinue for transcript or something like that I can't remember applying nor planning to apply for.
I really need help before this financial pressure frustrate me into leaving this programme with the huge amount i have spent; maybe, like a colleague said, i should have used the money in buying a land in Kubwa and wait for it to appreciate because even with the MBA, there is no assurance of pay increase at work, new opportunities nor a profitable return on investment.
Please save my soul!!! I have observed that when many of us make complaints online, we hardly come back to give feedback neither do we ascertain efforts being made to remedy the issues raised, hence I chose to come back and give a non-compulsive report on the situation of things now; I have not been contacted nor compelled to make this post but to let those who chose to be sentimental about the issue know that my complaint was borne out of a true reflection of what I felt and the wrong direction the program was heading towards - money-based rather than value-based. I wish to first thank everybody who helped echo my concerns as the ABUMBA school management has objectively listened to the voice of reasoning. 1. On the issues of fees, they have not reduced it but there has been no additional fees since this complaint; which I learnt the ABUMBA DLC management really took seriously and addressed. I guess future students can now be informed about how much they are expected to pay before joining the programme. 2. On the issue of repetitive courses and the number of courses being too much, there has been an adjustment of the syllabus such that some of the courses have been dropped and other courses are now being reviewed for better delivery. 3. On the issue of non-competitive MBA, the single delivery program sort of allowed competent hands to handle areas they were more proficient while enabling more networking which also made the essence of the MBA more achievable. 4. On the issue of exam fees after paying for the courses, I learnt that examination fees have been dropped though yet to confirm it; the effort is however commendable. Although the MBA program is yet to be where I wish it to be; an online MBA that can compete with the ones abroad, I will say that many commendable efforts have been made in improving the program and it is looking more promising; thanks to the effort of the Director and his team. Kudos to ABUMBA DLC. However, all the other issues still being raised need to be looked into to make the program world class. |

Properties › Re: Legal Advice Needed, My Landlord Just Brought Quit Notice For All Tenants. by perfectgen(m): 9:57am On Dec 16, 2018 |
I understand your landlord's apathy towards you people; he must have met the house in a state he is not happy with. I sense this based on his initial stance of asking which issues you people have coupled with his having to drop the caretaker; it means he is not happy with the state of things. I will try to see the situation from both sides. 1. The landlord believes your inability to work together as tenants may imply inability to peacefully work with him, hence he better do away with you people. Renovating the house will cost quite some amount which you people may be unable to bear so he has a better chance of refurbishing and put the cost on new tenants. Potentially increasing the house rent may not go well with you people so it is better he allows you to go then he can focus on what he wants for the house.
Note: His stance is the way many of us here will react when faced with same problem; leave the emotional onslaught. I observed some people advised you to take the legal course; it won't be beneficial because he has by law given you the apportioned six months quit notice starting from January to the June you mentioned so don't try to go on that route. You can't win it; I will have advised mediation and arbitration center in Alausa, Ikeja but obviously, this matter has not gotten to that point. 2. From the perspective of a tenant, you seem to be a model tenant; from what you said, but unfortunately, you have been dealing with the caretaker, so your landlord doesn't know you. You feel you should not be slighted and treated like the other erring tenants but will you prefer that the landlord leaves the house in a state of dilapidation, while you people keep paying rent? You obviously love the house and will prefer to keep staying there. My one kobo advise is that you find your landlord's house, go and meet him man-to-man. Let him know that you like the house and still wish to be his tenant, you understand he needs to renovate the house but you don't have any plans for moving out now, appeal to his sense of reason; you may end up paying slightly more than you presently pay but it will beat paying for new rent outside, while you avoid the stress of looking for a new house and the challenges that come with moving; a win-win situation for both you and the landlord.
Don't because of one small issue like a quit notice lose a potentially good relationship with your landlord; I pray that you become a landlord too one day and obviously you will understand things better. Settle the issue amicably |
