We’re transforming Edo into a medical hub, says Obaseki

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said his government is investing hugely in revamping the State’s healthcare system, to reposition the State as a medical hub with world-class equipment to deliver quality and efficient services to the people.

Obaseki, who spoke to journalists in Benin City, said the government, over the past seven years, has sustained investment in the sector, developing the right infrastructure and supporting manpower development to transform the State as a hub for medical tourism in the Country.

According to him, “We are making Edo [/b]and Benin in particular a healthcare hub by making sure we improve the health infrastructure and bring it up to world-class standards.

“Healthcare is more about services and human capacity. While [b]we are emphasizing the hospital, the primary health care centers and clinics, we are also ensuring that we create the institution[/b]s [b]that will train [/b]the quality people we need to provide the quality care.”

He added, “[b]The School of Health Technology is supposed to [/b]provide manpower for our primary healthcare system and our healthcare system as a whole. Speaking on the investment in the Stella Obasanjo Hospital and efforts to expand and redesign the facility to become a medical hub, Obaseki noted, “The Out-Patient Department (OPD) is ready and the Inpatient Department is still under construction, with the wards, facilities, operational theaters and full complement of infrastructure to provide services across a wide range of areas.”

The governor further stated, “The challenge is that if we open the OPD and bring in a consultant and they want to perform a procedure, we would not want to send them to other facilities. We are reworking the delivery schedule to make sure that we know clearly when the inpatient department will be ready to enable us to synchronize and open one section three months before the other and not allow a long period before opening both.”

If we were being honest, we would realise that the challenges those names you mentioned faced were different from Yemi Cardoso's challenges because Tinubu floated the naira of an import-dependent economy. Before now, the CBN was defending the naira.

That move to float the naira was the most stupid thing ever done by a president, considering that Nigeria largely depends on imports to get by. There's nothing Yemi Cardoso can do to fix this economy.

The only way out is to harness our gas reserves and start selling to make a lot of USD. Unfortunately, they aren't even doing that yet. USD will hit 2k naira by next month.

When a currency is unstable, people would look for the next stable Fiat which is dollar which would cause dollar to increase in value which would cause more Unstableness of the local currency

The truth is 60% of dollars demand now is for savings people just want to save their money in dollar because naira is unstable

APC caused this by floating an unstable currency causing panic and didn't have the reserve to balance out the panic which made the naira more unstable and the circle continues

1- The EFCC must come harder on the banks. They need to work like forensic investigators. Each of the banks should provide the top 150 customers that they they sell the foreign currency to. When Obasanjo took over in 1999, Nigeria had around 3 billion dollars in foreign reserve. Nigeria was still then heavily dependent on importation; he didn't float Naira, and he didn't stop subsidy on petrol, diesel and Kerosene.

Yet, Nigeria's inflation rate was under 15% and food was affordable too. He assembled able hands who were able to grow the economy and pay Nigeria's debts or negotiate some debt forgiveness.

Why did everything about Nigeria's economy start deteriorating rapidly immediately APC took over government in 2015? APC has no clue about economic management, especially on federal level.
