To tell you to choose one I may not be fair to you, but I will tell you what to expect.
Let start from the department: you will feel superior as a biochemist to microbiology , they will bombard you with lot of molecules, pathways, structures not forgetting enzymatic reactions, but you will meet some medical and pharmacy student who borrowed your course, who will make you feel like a second class citizen. Forget all the hype in the biochemistry department when you are in school, after university, the Nigeria society do no really have a definite place for biochemist, the lab scientist will reject you from the lab, some pharmaceutical company will absorb you into their ab as analyst ( only because they don't want to pay a higher cost for a pharmacist) or as marketer to sell their drugs.
For microbiology it is same as biochemistry but less structure and molecules but more abstract things like scientific names of some bacteria, virus and fungi. Bet you the names are as numerous as the sand on the seashore. The employment is same as biochemistry, lab scientist don't want you near their lab either and you are let at the mercy of pharmaceutical company as sales representative or breweries.
You can do your masters you may advance in your first degree or in many pharmaceutical department,( pharmaceutical microbiology, pharmacology) but they won't recognize you as their own professional.
This is the bitter truth the way I see it.

This are very grave allegations, this should be thoroughly investigated the superiors must be tried and if guilty let them bear the full wrath of the law. The origin, points when this derailment began should be known and what inducement been known to avert future occurrences.
All officers and men used should testify and dismissed. This is all what a nation security should NEVER do.
God I'm scared, how did we get here as a nation, I want to curse but had to restrain myself.
God you for giving us this change, that you for your mercy over Nigeria, thank you because you love us so much, thank you for giving us chance over and over again to build a strong united and great Nation. Thank you lord, I am grateful

Romance › Re: Should God Be Blamed For The High Rate Of Pre-marital Sex Acts? by pharmagba: 10:03am On Jun 23, 2015
God is not to be blamed.
Though some observation are right I think that boys and girls of 14yrs today know much more that girls of 29yrs of years back. This knowledge and youthful exuberance pushes them to want to explore all. Check the social media, TV, songs, billboards and even their discussion from age of 8yrs is about the opposite sex and sex. There already know how and what to do to seduce or woo the opposite sex; things not common years ago.
Those days girls were told not to allow men touch them that if they do they will be pregnant, now tell a 11yrs old; after asking you series of questions and telling you about people she had been seeing touching themselves, you will have to retract your statement.
Girls develop faster now because of good healthcare and nutrition and lifestyle that doesn't involve long hours of farming or physical labor.

Politics › Re: 5 Reasons : Saraki-gate Was Favourable To Nigeria by pharmagba: 10:55pm On Jun 21, 2015
oatzeal:
We may never stop talking about Bukola Saraki's as Senate President if nothing really interesting happens soon. While many have condemned the process which led to his emergence as Senate President, we have 5 reasons to believe Saraki will be good for Nigeria.

See 5 Reasons Saraki-gate Was Good For Nigeria

1. It puts President Buhari on notice that this is not 1983 and the political class are not to be trusted

2. It highlights the real power base of Tinubu now the elections are over

3. It shows that Nigeria belongs to everybody and nobody

4. Governance won't be business as usual as the President now has strong opposition

5. Nigeria finally has a National assembly that will be forced to prove itself inorder to stay relevant.

Source : http://nairanaijanews..com/2015/06/5-reasons-saraki-gate-was-favourable-to.html
Sincerely all the reason you highlighted are BAD for Nigeria
1- from all indication and body language from campaign to date Buhari's body language, action and words have shown he knows more than anybody that this is not 1983

2- for you to mention Tinubu, means you are favored to some other individuals. My guess is you feel Atiku thirst for power, overly ambitious and greed is what should rule instead of unity, fairness and self sacrifice.

3-it didn't show that. It shows that Nigeria shows the exact opposite that Nigeria is still kept captive by some few powerful individual.

4-it is not an issue of strong opposition, it shows some powerful people wanting to use their resources to get into position not based on any positive ideology but for self serving interest. with PDP as deputy senate president it tell you there is NO opposition. If there is any opposition at all it is to Buhari,s adminstration.

5- this national assembly can.

Atiku has been fingered in all the recent APC crises yet also seen parleying with former PDP governors and other PDP top wig recently. I also want to believe that all the social media campaign against Tinubu are his orchestration.
Let the truth be told Atiku is the most ambitious politician in Nigeria today and desperation is creeping into his ambition hence he seems bent in either destroying the APC or being in control of the APC to actualise his ambition.

Tinubu
- a leader among leaders
- a political strategist
- a wise and committed leader
- an ardent believer in the Nigeria nation
- a determined fighter no afraid to stand alone on a course he believes in
- a political revolutionist of our time
- a great leader achieved more than Awolowo
- a friend of the masses
- a visionary and brilliant economist

Politics › Re: Saraki Senate Presidency: Tinubu Blasts President Buhari by pharmagba: 8:41pm On Jun 11, 2015
I agree completely with Tinubu on this. I think the choice of Lawan was to ensure President Buhari to succeed.
Secondly the president owes it to the party to make his stand known to the party leaders. In his position as president, he has got to choose.
Thirdly, if actually the President convey the meeting, he need to apologize to the senators much more if he can bring all APC senators together and talk with them, peace and unity can return and all grieve pacified.
Tinubu has shown to be a great political strategist once again; with his statement he seem to know where this may lead. For APC and President Buhari to succeed they really need Tinubu, a politician,

Politics › Re: Bola Tinubu's Death by pharmagba: 7:35am On Jun 11, 2015
If all you wish others is death, failure and downfall it says a lot about your mindset. Tinubi and OBJ, which you wish this are leaders that have at various times fought for the greatness and unity of this nation. The days where leadership was needed they have stoop up to galvanize the nation.
These men have been able to disciple younger and more energetic men and women with vision that can make Nigeria great. Eg Osinbajo, Fashola, el-Rufai, Ezekisilisi, Soludo. Hence they can afford to take the back seat.

The case of Alison Madueke comes to mind terrible things had been said about her yet even this govt had not said anything. Is it that she wouldn't have made mistakes? No! But because it is WISE not to accuse falsely without facts.
Let us love those that have sacrificed for Nigeria and stop finding avenue to bring them down when we have put in as much.

PassingShot:
Not interfering is not same as not intervening.

PMB says he will not interfere in how they choose their leaders.

It's not the same as not intervening when a problem needs to be solved by appealing to them to conduct themselves in a proper manner befitting of their status.

Interfere - 1. prevent (a process or activity) from continuing or being carried out properly.
"a job would interfere with his studies". 2. take part or intervene in an activity without invitation or necessity.
synonyms: impede, obstruct, stand in the way of, hinder, inhibit, restrict, constrain, hamper, handicap, cramp, check, block; More

Intervene - to come between disputing people, groups, etc.; intercede; mediate. 2. to occur or be between two things. 3. to occur or happen between other events or periods.

Investment › Re: Why Big Pharmacies 'close Shop' In Nigeria by pharmagba: 7:15pm On Jun 04, 2015
PMIcon:
I wrote a previous post on steps to own a Pharmacy in Nigeria here: https://www.nairaland.com/2352771/steps-owning-pharmacy-nigeria

If you ever wondered why, as lucrative a business as running a Pharmacy is, many still run down, I'm about to let you know some reasons. Can you think of some big names that are no more?
Let me give you some insider's clue and, don't mind me, I write with Pharmacists in mind

Why Your Predecessors Close Shop

You can sum the major reasons up under these categories

1. They thought being a good Pharmacist is enough to be a good business owner.

Entrepreneurs have different mindsets than professionals o. If you don't groom yourself and even be willing to pay neutral consultants to learn from (because your should-be mentor is also your competitor) you may learn the hard way

2. Bad location

Location is (almost) everything in any business but you will be amazed how many get this wrong-- may be because it wasn't thought in school? I don't know. What I know is that good location is not just about where you can get many customers. It's about where you can get and retain customers with purchasing power that suit your strategy, get and retain correct staff, spend less on operations etc

3. No or poor business plan

Success comes with its own challenges. A Pharmacy that is making a lot of money can close down because of that- it breeds competition, more tendencies for dissatisfying customers, expansion crisis. You must have a plan to scale through the challenges of the business at every stage

4. Poor staff motivation

This is key and I can tell you this is one major Pharmacy killer. Your staff members are not your resources ! I object to that capitalist language- calling humans resources, and of course, using them as such. If you don't know how to treat your staff like partners and first customers you will soon join those ones big Pharmacies that are now dead or a shadow of their past.

Practically speaking, this entails a lot of discipline and commitment, becoming groomed for effective leadership (for example, understanding what and how to delegate is key), planning for long-term employment and many other stuffs.

5. Bad financial practice

The money you can make in retail pharmacy multiplies with the number of branches you have. If you don't plan long term, you put a cap on how far you can go because your decisions will be poor.

Practical example: Some Pharmacies are very good in owing suppliers and then suppliers avoid them or refuse to sell to them and they can't meet up with demands. Of course, if I come today and you don't have what I want to buy, same tomorrow, same next week, I may not bother again.

One financial error some Pharmacy owners make is treating the company as their ATM machine. You better know where your income to run personal affairs will come from before opening your Pharmacy. Otherwise, you will kill the business before it gets the chance to flourish.
Having a solid financial plan- such that takes as many things as necessary into consideration AND following it is key to keeping your Pharmacy alive and well

6. Ahh! I haven't mentioned poor customer service!

Customer is king is not an entertaining slogan o. And the fact that they are coming doesn't mean they are satisfied sir! One of them may be planning to become a competitor and capitalize on how insensitive you and/or your staff members are. Otherwise, they may be waiting and even praying for that competitor to come and the good God WILL answer their prayers because He wants the best for people while you give them trash services.

You must be deliberate about customer satisfaction. All this promos some Pharmacies so don't keep customers o. If customers don't FEEL like you care about them and not just the money you want to make, sorry they will enjoy your promo and still not be loyal to you.

I hope you'll put these things to heart and use them in business.

If you have something serious to discuss with me please go ahead or send a mail to mailboominn@gmail.com and make the subject obvious so that I can know its not one of those mails.

Thanks.
Let me add more
7- Poor inventory control
8- Absence of a good pharmacist / professional on duty ( for retail pharmacy)
9- poor stocking and improper management of stock leading to much expiry

HAH:
Why should I put my hard earned money and give someone called a pharmacist 60% of it ?

Why not just make it that there must be a pharmacist on the board but giving him a whooping 60% is very selfish of the regulatory body, clearly they don't want outside investors to come into the line of business,.
I have seen an investor who build an hospital and signed an agreement with a medical doctor, who is to fully manage it, and deliver an amount to him monthly.
It just depend on how you intent to invest, a lot of people are investing and getting good dividend on investment.
Investment › Re: Difference Btw A Pharmacist And A Pharmaceutical Chemist by pharmagba: 4:16pm On Jun 03, 2015
A Master or even a PhD in Pharmaceutical chemistry cannot open a pharmacy. This is because pharmacy is a professional course which the practitioner must be grounded in the five arm iie
1-Pharmaceutic and Pharmaceutical technology,
2-Pharmaceutical chemistry
3- Pharmacognosy
4-Clinical Pharmacy
5- Pharmacology
Pharmaceutical chemistry is just an arm hence cannot qualify one to be a pharmacist and solely own and operate a pharmacy without a pharmacist.
It is like saying a graduate in either anatomy or physiology with Msc desiring to operate hospital and do the work of a doctor performing surgery by himself. The scope of the work exceeds his qualification

From a neutral point
1- could it be that nobody in this GEJ government is willing to welcome him saying they don't have his time? So the APC team put a team to forestall an embarrassment.

OR

2-could there possible be an issue with Buhari and APC leaders, that Buhari had to travel unceremoniously, which had not been fore planned, hence APC needed to put up a damage control, ensuring his flight Lands in Lagos and the investors story.

Just thinking
