Too many people that I know have made good progress since they landed here in their respective endeavours without cutting any corner. If it involves beating the system then it's not legit!

Settlement journey. Pardon my long post...... Always lots to share when I come around to it. I have been staying with my crew in Apple Hill, Ontario where our family friend lives. Lets see how it pans out.

Sister J, just hang in there. It'll pan out but you need to change your strategy. You may not succeed with real estate agents/agencies because they don't have the capacity to grant waivers since they don't own the properties; kijiji is your best bet. There you can relate with home owners directly and hopefully find a compassionate landlord.

My experience (Maybe it will help someone):
I was fortunate to have a friend take us in when we arrived. We wanted to live in Mississauga long before we left Nigeria and we were so sure we'd be at my friend's for 2 weeks max! After 4 weeks of inconveniencing my kind friend and his family because we couldn't find a place of our own, and hanging as though we still hadn't landed in Canada, we started concentrating solely on Kijiji adverts that were put up directly by the home owners themselves. Note that most agents in the GTA won't even approve you for viewing unless you meet the requirements, which includes a job letter. I had many friends including our host who were willing to co-sign the forms but that option still didn't fly. In the 5th week, help came from the most unlikely of places (at this point, we had long given up our Mississauga fantasy and settled for "anywhere". My dear, Indian bobo called me and wanted us to meet at the house so he could know me better cos I had told him the new-immigrants-no-job-yet story in a text message earlier, after responding to his advert on Kijiji. After our meeting, he asked if I could come with my wife's passport & COPR the next day. To avoid stories that touch, I didn't just go with documents, I went with my wife and the kids. Bobo too came prepared with his all-in-one printer. It was right here that we signed rent agreement and I transferred money (first & last month rent) to his account and we moved in the next day with great speed. The relief that came from that whole experience has made me totally oblivious of the fact that I'm actually in a basement in Brampton, which was not on my list of choice locations at all! Good thing is, landlord was so kind to suggest that we shouldn't sign a full year agreement since I didn't have a job letter, so I can leave whenever I want. #PAYGO

My application seems to have been fully processed at CIO, Sydney, Nova Scotia because just few days ago when I called IRCC, agent told me eligibility was still ongoing, security not started and criminality passed.

In helping others we must be careful not to openly share information about circumventing an established system. In a public forum like this, you never can tell who is following your 'gist'. If our usual way of doing things actually yields good results, we won't be here trying to migrate so let's comply fully with the Canadian way, at least in public. This kind of help should be sought offline for the benefit of those who might need similar help in the future.

Na PPR you dey announce casually so? First you need to announce properly (loud it) and then share your timeline plus any lessons learnt...then pack your passport and go to VFS as already advised. Congratulations!

Good evening everyone, Please I need clarification on this; for Proof of funds, I only used the letter I got from the bank which indicates my current and average balance for the past 6 months and showing that I have no debts with them. My worry is that I read majority of the PPR recipient on this forum included their statement of account. I didn't include my statement of account as I was thinking the first one will suffice. My question is, was I wrong not to have included the statement of account? Has anyone gotten PPR using only the letter they got from the bank as POF? Could this delay one's application or lead to ADR?. I will appreciate if anyone could throw more light on this for me. Thank you.

Of course, once you show proof of residence in the school's catchment area and there is space in their respective grades to accommodate them. Where a school can not accommodate kids due to space constraints, you will be referred to the closest other school in the neighborhood that can take them.
