What's your take on this? Is it sustainable? Does Nigeria stand to gain from this? What about those who contributed to the pension schemes?
Would it be a windfall for politicians and construction companies?
Are there measures to preserve the value of people's contributions?

These are interesting times.

When will u get over ths loss of GEJ that happen over 5 years ago? Everything that happen to any politicians is because of GEJ, even GEJ has moved on and worked with APC during Bayelsa election, yet u are still mourning, how come your karma never visit Tinubu whom is instrumental in the packing of the ineffectual baboon out of Aso rock? Anything, that happen to any politicians is because of GEJ, na wa o.

Anyway, their is no way PDP is coming to power in 2023, I would have expected the North to have started mass movement to PDP by now, as predicted by your people, but their recent grip and fisting on APC means, they are not going PDP way, their is even a rumor that this kwankwaso is coming back to APC, either way nothing for PDP in 2023.

Osibanjo for 2023.
2023 the people will tell you why they can't get over the loss when they take a revenge against the architects of Nigeria's 8 years APC misfortune if the country manages to exist. The so-called "5 percent" will tell people like professor Osibanjo that 8 years is not enough to forget. Next time the south west will learn to put Nigera's interest first and not Tinubu or some other demigod's personal political and economic interests first.

It is not a competition but I think Nigerians like noise that is the only thing Niger Delta lacks one voice and noise makers. We need our own Muric/ Nnamdi kanu/Arewa youth kind of sh!+ and make noise with them simple this our back burner Don Taya me Rivers state alone has more sea ports than all of SOUTH West + South East combined all the money used in building Abuja and everywhere else except parts of Lagos comes from oil in Bayelsa, Rivers and other Niger Delta states we deserve better leaders than these idiots and much better standard of living
It is ALL oil money, forget their media propaganda

I support the killing of civilians ! Do you fail to comprehend or are you willfully daft. Where did I support the mindless killing of civilians. I only made it clear that it is a known tendency of Nigerian army to go ballistic in the quest for vengeance. Expecting them to do nothing after ambushing the army and killing their comrades is foolish of the elders in that community. They should have swung into action to meet with the army CO in that sector and distanced themselves away from the culprits.

Stay there talking about bringing to book we are here discussing the reality
When you say "it is a known tendency
..." you are already excusing the crimes being committed against communities by the Nigerian state through their agencies like the Nigerian army.

Since when did "elders" is communities assume a constitutional role of investigating crime in their communities?

Why don't we hear the same in communities Boko Haram killed military personnel?

Can't communities affected by Boko Haram " investigate " for the Nigerian state?

If Nigeria takes all of Ijaw people's oil, Ijaw people have to "investigate " on behalf of the Nigerian state, Ijaw people are killed and their livelihoods destroyed by the same Nigerian state.

Tell me what then would be their joy being Nigerians?

In case you don't know, in the 50s and 60s Ijawland accounted for 100 percent of Nigeria's oil and gas production, in the 70s it was up to 80 percent. Currently it is not less than 50 percent of the entire production. No ethnic nation has given much to Nigeria like the Ijaw nation but she is own of the most mistreated.

Bonny island alone accounts for at least 4 percent of Nigeria's GDP! Yet our people get killed and our environment get destroyed. If you accuse other Ijaw communities of restive acts the same cannot be said about Bonny but yet agents of the Nigerian state have murdered youths there nonetheless.

The Nigerian army is a private armed group that works for those who rob ethnic nations in Nigeria. It is an occupation force, it is not here to serve ALL citizens of Nigeria.

All I can tell haters like you is that your day of judgement is coming!

After Victor Malu conspired with Olusegun Obasanjo and T.Y. Danjuma to destroy Odi, the two of them turned against him and destroyed Zaki Biam, his community.

T.Y. Danjuma is lamenting today, Obasanjo is the only one left.

The problem with you Nigerians is that you support evil as long as it doesn't affect you directly! That is not how the world functions, what you support today will turn against you tomorrow.

I hope when they start killing your kin folk you won't come and complain here.

The difference with BH animals they are unknown elements, there are still vivid amnesty reports of what army men did to BH members in maiduguri town when JTF identified them mass graves and torture stories abound. I've personally seen some videos trust me they are not pleasant. Nigerian army guys can be soulless when tempted.

In Ekeremor the militants operate close to their home turfs home turfs and the elders in ND have really failed to get a grip on the excesses of the youth. There is no justifiable reason for militancy to involve an attack on soldiers. We know BH are animals why should militants descend to such barbaric levels
If you have issues with the Nigerian state who would you attack?

The way most of you reason tells why Nigeria remains a hopeless case.

If people who have issues with the Nigerian state attack agent of the Nigerian state, the solution you can suggest is creating more enemies for the Nigerian state!

The Niger delta people have always existed.
But there were part of the eastern region. There was nothing linking an ijaw man with an akwa ibom man except in the concept of the eastern region.

Igbo sons and daughters built port Harcourt.

The current south south scenario is a post war creation meant to weaken igbo land and prevent another attempt at taking away the oil bearing areas from Nigeria.
Well , to start with, I never mentioned "South south" or whatever Nigeria choose to call it, what I made reference to is the Niger Delta.

Secondly, the Igbo in the western region to a large part wanted to be together with their Kith and kin in the eastern region.

If that was legitimate for you, what makes you think other people's aspirations was nonexistent?

Port Harcourt was not built by Igbo. I don't know where you got that false notion from.

Even if it was, so? Does that make us owe you anything?

Maybe it was "meant to weaken Igboland".

The pre war east was west region weakened Ijaw land.

Go read history, even before Nigeria gained independence we never wanted to be part of you. In the 50s the Ijaw led by Chief Harold Dappa Biriye campaigned for a homogeneous Ijaw region, joining the Ijaw in the west and east together.

Guess who opposed it? Nnamdi Azikiwe!

Their attitude laid the foundation for all that is wrong with Nigeria today.

There was no Niger delta then.

Apart from Edo-delta, the rest of the south south was under the eastern region led by military Governor Ojukwu and his deputy Effiong.

So biafra did not attack their own territory.
Meaning?
The Niger Delta has ALWAYS existed. If I go by your arguement then the Niger Delta is nonexistent even now.

Before Biafra's attempt to secede there was an attempt to establish a Niger Delta republic.

Why are people just mad at making sure their children 'graduate '?

Within the current context, how many of our graduates are much better?

How many have been employed? For those employed, how many earn more than 40,000 a month?

Sometimes I feel emotions and peer pressure make people go after the wrong priorities in Nigeria.
Politics › Re: Asaba Massacre: Untold Story Of Tragedy And Carnage by PHijo(m): 8:04am On Jan 21, 2020
This "no victor or vanquished " talk has not helped any side.

Just like what Nigeria did in Asaba, several Ijaw communities in Rivers state suffered similar fate under Biafran occupation, communities like Abonemma and Ogu ( both in Rivers state).

If the leaders of Nigeria did what was right in the 50s and 60s the war could have been avoided.

Till date they've continued promoting all the vices and supressive structures that led to this madness.

Apart from Ijaw communities Ogoni, Ibibio communities etc felt the brunt of both Biafran and Nigerian brutality.

The true victims of that war are the people of the Niger Delta.

They suffered in a war that was not theirs, suffered all sorts of abuse from both sides.
Career › Re: Entrepreneurs Are Ruining Morales Of Employees by PHijo(m): 4:40am On Jan 21, 2020
Nigeria/Nigerians need to change the way they think. There is no way things will improve if business owners don't pay workers enough to consume and on time. This is something successive governments have failed to enforce.

This brings us back to the issue of Nigeria's structure. States or councils should have more say on issues like wage payments. Pressure groups like MAN, NLC, TUC, NACCIMA, NESG etc should be decentralized.

States should be created along ethnic lines or at least power should be devolved to mainly local government areas and they should be strictly created with ethnicity in mind.

We can't keep on ignoring Nigeria's fundamental problems.

I'm a Yoruba man and I strongly like ur comment. But if we are to judge this in a geo political zones perspective, then we'll have big problem. South-west had 8yrs, South-south had 6years, North-west which Buhari and Yaradua comes from, if Buhari completes his 8yrs would have had 10yrs.
Now we still have the South-east, middle belt, North-east and North-central. Sorry o South easterners u don't believe in the unity of Nigeria and it will be so fragile to allow u rule this country. Note: Nnamdi Azikiwe had his spell years ago, those that should be ranting now are middle belt, North-east, and North Central....
I Believe the presidency should go to middle belt because Northerners don't have issues we have on the South, once u are an hausa-fulani man they vote 4u. But in the South we have big issues, and that's why we'll always have big problem. So if the presidency is to come to the South, let's find a credible candidate from middle belt and case will be settled. But the population of the North and their cows and minors voting is a big obstacle. Or we rather go for the most viable tribe in the South which is the SW..
I'm ready for the stones u'll throw at via Nairaland land but deep inside u, u know this is the bitter truth.

South east is homogeneous, South west is near homogeneous! We tend to underestimate the role ethnicity or religion plays out in all these things.

Instead of the current state structure we should have 1 state for Igbo, 1 for Yoruba, 1 for Hausa, 1 for Ijaw, 1 for Tiv, 1 for Urhobo etc and special status laws for ethnic groups that are too small to form a state.

What Nigeria/ Nigerians are interested in is our oil and gas.
