Really, I am pleading on behalf of Kemi. If I do not have to give her for now, I can afford to say and pray for her. Please help her, for you all will be rewarded. And I specially pray for her quick recovery this year 2018.

Modern educators did realize that a well rounded, complete education often demands not only training of the intellect but also training of the will and the heart as well. And this simply means the formation of character is as important as the acquisition of knowledge. Such that the character formation requires the knowledge of an ideal that will-“give direction, measure and value to our effort”-according to Monsignor William J. Kelly.

Because the intellectual ability, is no proof that we will be able to master the difficulty of life to adhere to the right principles of action in time of distress. The same is true, that often it is only with strong will and a firm character we are able to stand such trials and tribulations unshaken. It is obvious one cannot pretend not to know that life is full of trials of various brand, hence, the necessity not to undermine character formation for the transformation of the right attitude and values.

This requires also, a fair knowledge of oneself that include body and soul, the strong and the weak point and indeed, our asset and defects. Of cause, needless to add that be it individual or collectively, man is often painfully conscious of the many shortcoming as he feels the great desire to eliminate the unsatisfactory personality trait, just to achieve the greater harmony within himself and the environment in which he leaved.

In man’s evolutionary journey, if you like, historically, he is endowed with virtue based on the concept of –“speaking to’’ in terms of human experience as a people. The subject of virtue and ethics are conceived to be interrelated, although, this might not be immediately obvious. However, the concept, of virtue seems to be made obsolete but not without our failure to ground it into the contemporary ethical framework, of which we must take the responsibility. Although, it seems most people still have a fairly strong conception of what virtue and ethical standard is all about, even if only subconsciously, the effort to live a virtuous life did continue to motivate many of our actions, aware of it not.

We are told, that ethics in the most basic level tends to address the very question of “How we should behave towards others”. On the other hand, virtue tends to address the question of “How we should behave in general, not only in relation to others, but also in relation to ourselves and the wider society in we find ourselves.

In the first place, what does it mean to be irrational or rational. The word rational in the first place is derived from the Latin word ration and from there it entered into the old French lexicon as reisum or reson. It is said to enter Middle English lexicon as resoum or reisum. And the English word rational is directly tied to the very concept of reason, just as the reasoning power, cognitive power, logical thinking and sanity.

The same is true that a rational being is an individual capable of logical thought with the ability to reason. Such ability to reason toward sound conclusions based on facts and evidence, drawing what may be called inferences from not only situations and circumstances, but also inferences that make a sound well-reasoned judgment based on factual information. Often, humans at their best are rational beings who unfortunately could lose a moment to give in to moment of irrationality during action, decision, judgment and inferences based on emotion, pressure physicality and anything other than sound reason.

whether, we like it or not we get to interact with a lot of unique personality of various backgrounds. In the mix of these individual are characterized ambitions, greed and name it while others are motivated by a higher calling just to make a difference in characters and attitude in general. It must be observed that it is particularly an important skill to learn as any challenging behavior has the tendency to manifest itself at any given instant along the way. And this may happen to be an obstacle to any sound objective. It is also true that managing any such behavior is never an easy task, although, it can be done, hence psychology come into play here to do some vital role to understanding what is at stake.

However, we are often being told, when haven’t to deal with difficult individuals of irrational behavior, some essential element of simple lesson tends to stands out. In the first place and very important, is to recognize that everyone, including your very self, irrespective of the prevailing climate at any moment in time, can as well act irrational and even crazy at any given time, depending on the emotional psychology. I wish to ask, why she has to be held for so long in prison. And does it mean no one seems to care about her, I mean within the family cycle. Because God still uses people in what looks like a helpless and peculiar situation like this. Please, I am appealing on behalf every one, to intervene for God sake. Really, I don't care what her offense maybe and who maybe responsible , but we still must be our brother's keepers as long as God is on the thrown. The law of change has being embedded with the evolutionary effort of man through which human race has come to slowly lift up himself from the baseline of all other creatures. The baseline where the destiny of all living things has been fixed by life pattern and instinct, through which man has, always strive since the time immemorial. It is obvious that the entire history of mankind has come to be clearly marked as a pattern of perpetual change, moving onward and forward. It has become the creature’s device from the rational human to those of irrational animals or other creatures.

This is true in the eternal –authenticity and a varieties of life habit and thought of man that is continually reshaping into a system of relationship, moving into a more harmonious and better understanding of his environment. It is imperative, not lose sight of this pattern of change, in the life of man in his evolutionary journey. Because it is this device of change through which we adequately comprehended and put into use the habit and attitude to masters the very cause of fear of change which is but an opposition to the overall pattern of the universe. To conform to this overall plan of the universe of change or perish, is always the nature’s warning through the manifestation of some devastation that often come to be witnessed over the centuries past even till this current period- like the climate change.

This is true, that often times, the fear and failure and indeed, the very shock of disappointment in human, are design to shake loose of this fixed habit that man has tenaciously clings to. But no matter at what level man has struggle with his irrational paranoia, change has always be the very device through which we adopt, embrace and even benefit by better habit of growth. In this perspective, education becomes the bedrock of transformation that starts the mind of the individual to grow and develop from within through introspection.The mind which has become accustomed to the freedom and impartiality in habit of growth, will always preserve something of the same in the world of action and emotion. It will view his purposes and desire as part of the whole. And of cause, in the absence of insistence that result from seeing them as fragments in a world of which all the rest is unaffected by any one man’ deeds.

Education causes the mind to evolve and expand as he moves from the primary level to the highest level through the constant changes in the very thinking process and reflections. It is this thinking process and reflections; we often come to develop an act of rationalism and become acquainted with what may be called potential power to advance. Make no mistake, it is through this avenue, we are capable of not only striving to solve individual and collective problems, but also confronting and coming to terms with our realities in our evolutionary effort. it is self evidence, that this theory, no doubt, conform to nature’s plan as found through human experience of inventions, that forces man to use and develop his mind power. The same is true that this law of change is the very sources of education. Understanding this reality; you will no longer oppose this inalienable heritage from nature that has given a wide scope of understanding of us and the environment.

It is significant though, to know that the traits that our creator seems most emphatically frowns upon in man are –complacency, procrastination, fear, and self-imposed limitation, all of which, no doubt, carry with it, not without consequences. Although, complacency and habit has come to won a victory over change and progress overtime, in this part of the world and this is unfortunate. It must be emphasized, though, that the only and only one means of which the creator provide man to break away from other irrational animal to ascend into spiritual estate, to be master of his own fate, is this very law of change.

And our creator do this through the simple process of mental attitude and draws a pattern of living, in conformity with nature and make it into a reality. With this irrevocable and unchallenged power of what looks like an absolute control, has since been considered by the others to be the most and only important prerogative for man. And to come to deny him or be denied this very right, no doubt, amount to repression and misconception of the central purpose of what man’s life is all about.

The fixed habit and self-imposed limitation is but an attitude that openly shun knowledge and all what it represent in man’s evolutionary journey, in the acceptance of living by the truth of others long past. The same is also true, that it is but an act of resistance to the truth and the very foundation they have come to predicate the truth. The truth that tends to represent what looks like a vociferous attack to growth and advancement, to use Debbie’s phrase.

[b][/b]Of cause, which in many individual’s ’ own perspective, ‘no one dare question, but represent their fear of the unknown and the unseen that becomes the very reason why people often instigate others to follow suit because they are comfortable with the state of affair. According to Debbie, the same is true, that they don’t often know how to ‘be’ and could not let others ‘be’, hence, the very concept of change has become not only instigative but unpleasant, although, sound great, but remain one of the most difficult, if not impossible notion to grapple with in its very basic essence.

The reason is clear, because in particular, it challenges the very status –quo which not only they have come to found comfortable but seems to threaten their very existence. But in man’s evolutionary journey, it is but a mandate that he must strive to comply with this evolutionary element of his being. This is true, if he must come to term with the infinite truth, the state of ‘just being’ to use Debbie’s phrase again, which is but a metaphysical dimension through which one become aware that we are just a student of the universe who must be humble and obedient to learn from everything and everyone around us.

The term metaphysical dimension here is but a dimension that transcends rational discourse without lapsing into rationalism, the last precarious refuge of the human truth to which man’s own thought tends always to aspire. Because, out there are forces outside of our control and comprehension that are totally defying any reasonable explication in our daily struggle for survival. It is significant to know that nature tends to lead man through change after change by peaceful means as long as we co-operate with her, but she result to the opposite and react when we neglect or refuse to conform to the law of eternal change.

It is probably one of the reason that when things get foggy, the universe is not playing any form of trick, but only a reminder just to try to stare man in the right direction for the sake of making an adjustment or an appropriate change. The reason seems clear, because, she enforce the law of fixation of habit and instinct in every living thing lower than human, just in the same way as it enforces the law of change and rational habit in every living things higher than animals. And when this is brought into full efficiency through close attention and discipline, it will always make a difference, hence, the level and degree of rationality do also vary. Therefore, those who oppose change are but vampire-like -associate who are more likely to drain you of life–given energy than restore the innocent qualities of your heavenly soul.

It is pathetic that we Nigerians are yet to realized that we must not do away with our collective struggle to make Nigeria a better place. A conducive environment for all, because in diversity is unity as obtainable in other place. It is time we must reflect in our level of discipline and patriotism irrespective our political and religious affiliation as we strive to lay aside any form of witch hunting.

[left]The so call multifarious aspect of the world are also intertwined that is not possible to stand apart and claim no share in its fabric in bad time and in good time. We are in just what one may call a period of return to the sources. Often, we tend to rap our body and mind, heart and soul around our presence call self. And we feel ourselves as individuals, which we are at a relative level. But in the absolute, we remain a part of the whole, each uniquely tailored to play its specific part in the arena of the life journey.

Of cause, we come a long way to a point that we now need to reflect on this disconnectedness to counter the movement tending to polarization that may lead to greater conflict in not too far distance away. Therefore, no chance must be give to support the questioning of the long held truth and much loved certainties in the face of today mighty challenge that tends to stair humanity in the face as never before. Make no mistake, it may be political upheaval, climate change or personal trials, but life is no doubt, banging upon our consciousness daily in an attempt to wake us, to rise up to the reality of our time. The process no doubt may look daunting and challenging and may take time, but it did demand that we strive to honor each step to birth the deepest transformation shaped by the highest truth without feeling indifference.

In this same process, we may get our hands very dirty and in the dirtiness of the human realm with wild emotions and crazy actions. But certainly, we may need to remove our mask of deception until we recognize ourselves, let alone anyone else knowing who we are. We are in a period of what I choose to call the “concept deconstruction” that requires, to begin to question what works and what does not work, almost like what take place in the age of reason in 16th century which demand authenticity in our evolutionary journey that may offend in its honesty and passion, challenging the religious, political and social status quos. The same is true that we answer to no one,except our creator, when it comes to the truth, because it is its own arbiter as it leaves nothing to stand on its awake. The time has come for the most candid honesty to muster first and foremost with ourselves to move inward- direction to see where things[b][/b] are going wrong.-introspection.

This transformation and freedom did ask for enough courage to transcend any abstraction in adherence to the noble demand of the scripture, if man is to have any value in the scheme of things. The meaningful life, or value, that does not come to depend on material possession only in other to survive, but taken cognizance of the sacredness of the human life. The avoidance, of misplacement of concept, which defies the inability to strike the balance between what, is ontological and logical and indeed, what is spiritual and material. It must be emphasized, though, that technological progress, do not force any one to advance, instead, it is but the very requirement of organizing society, because, any devaluation of human life in the process come to destroy the very foundation of the basic established order of progress.

History, in all intent and purpose cannot be ignore, and cannot cease to exist, hence, such phrase- ‘ ethical standard and tradition, a word to guard and a word of honor,must be preserved because it is an embodiment of both reconciling and condemning element, in what is wrong in any system. The same is true, that the family as an institution, and the sources of any society, must not only be preserved and promoted but also must be defended from any possible misrepresentation of its true value, hence, the need for a shift for a new level of value system of de-constructive concept.

Because, what is injurious to family is also injurious to any society as an institution. Echo, the very need not to lose sight of the tremendous effort demanded from everyone in combating any form of denigration of the value and dignity of human person of which we all have a shear. This must start from the very small privileges the working companions compete for on daily bases to the very law that sometimes keep an entire group marginalized and often brutalized in the mix of opulence life style in nearby quarter. In what looks like a period of societal paroxysms, definitely demand that we must be prepared to come to terms with the reality of our time without fear or favors for the sake of do away with any form of injustices and oppression. Without an attitude of dominance and disputes and an atmosphere where no one is prepare to take the first step.
It is a known fact, that no scientific research has ever brings directly an expected great discovery. The discovery or solution often come to be found where it is least expected. The same is true that human problems often tend to resist some theoretical solution, which often can be found when everyone willingly shear and no longer oppress one another. But it is imperative not to shear away from any sense of self criticism and fair play through introspection, through which any meaningful change can always take place. If there is to be any meaningful charge, our inner world and outer world must match, coupled with an insight in the transformation of life in our evolutionary effort for our collective survival.

The kind of individual who is not content to simply exist for the sake of existence. But for those who has the sense of what one may choose to call destiny whether they are aware or not, of the inner awareness of eschatological fulfillment of which every human being is destined, in spite of the pain and suffering. That just living without developing the inner resource of the heart is but the highest form of selfishness. The eternal change has always been chosen to head the list of miracle of life, not essentially is the most important but because it is the most bitterly opposed by the majority of the human race. And it tends also to undermine the life of the common man who continue to struggle aimlessly for its survival. These calls into question the current level of value system, in spite of the effort of some individuals that seems to be undermined, in the legitimacy of rhetoric that has taken precedence over everything.
In this perspective, it is this so call power play that often gives birth to some other social factors unnoticed and unspeaking about through which the powerful and the influential insist and preach the gospel of liberalism and imposition of their mondi operandi. These have become a total disregard to limitation and in favor of the manifestation of extremism rooted from an abuse of concepts. The truth of the matter is that it actually stern from the illusion not to take seriously the importance of metaphysical interpretation of concepts which distinguishes what, is substantial and what is accidental.
In clear term, what is ontological and logical, and if you like, what is valuable and less valuable, and what is relevant or irrelevant. What happen here is simply that you have to fight in so many fronts in other to survive; survival undefeated just like the law of the juggle.
For instance, the free market phenomenon much talked about like every positive objective has also its negative implication. what happen is that, be it individual or nation, simply want to become the owner of the resources of the subsoil, of the very market of agricultural product for instance of the power that be. This no doubt, seems to be creating an imaginable oversight to the advantage of very smart but few ones, a prevalent phenomenon taking place everywhere. In fact, the current issue of closing the gap between the rich and the poor is no longer fashionable concept due to this defiance of limitation. What seem to be self evidence and little known facts to all and speak little about is also the poor and the oppressor. Because instead, of doing all what you can to get over your problems, the problem is often how to defend yourselves from outside predators. It must be acknowledge that the poor individuals or nations, instead of striving to better their lot in other to meet up with their respective set objective, they often come tends to struggle to overt the so called oppressor, of which one might be arrogantly called, the negative side of the so called liberalism or globalization. Because, no matter how rosy the positive side of these concepts may sound, without adequate guidelines to effectively putting them into use, they are not without devastating consequences.

It must be observed, however, that the church, in the last century, has never been short of words to denounce, this monstrous concept of abuse beyond the necessary. In clear term, this negative side effect of liberalism, no doubt, demonstrate that there is no clear vision of the contemporary world, hence, the frequent misinterpretation of concepts. it is the same attempt to justify, more than ever, everything, that brought about mixture of even the religious of liberalism, that hold quasi monopoly on the means of communication with a token of opposition and without limitation.
Of cause, with this trend of things, one cannot but anticipate the moment when Christian will openly proclaim the demand of the scripture that recognized the capacity and means of people to better their condition, instead of remaining a prisoner of principle and institutions. It must be recognize that every individual or nation has what can be said to be unique and a peculiar heritage that is valuable and that must be preserved. Not to contend with such reality, actually means poverty both in terms of material and spiritual.

It is important to know that to some extent, we must have to make good use of both what is more valuable and less valuable, because, the evil of liberalism, is without limitation and if you like, in excessive profit and demand, such that the value of being in favour of which these thing come into being, no longer count. The same is true, that no one have the right to control the process of life’s basic necessities, as to hold any one at ransom, economically, politically or otherwise.
The need to survive means the right of individual or nation, in coming to terms with its own unique reality and taken responsibilities in the safeguard of the survival of human life. The topic as you can see is tag "moral decadence" a sort of total decline in some standard of living in general term.This is both as a family, individual and indeed as a society. The question that may come up here is what do we transfer to the next generation in terms of culture and standard of living. Because, often it seems to me that, there seems to be a distraction in this line of thinking in general.

Not that people are not aware that such concept or ideas as a contention do not exist to be seriously addressed. Except that people don't seems to share the very spirit of collectivism, on the contrary, often to the direction of individualism that do not seems to solve any problem other than to compound it.

Now let me extend this further in terms of a continent like Africa who seems to find herself in what I choose to call "Bivio" or in a junction with many path way. What happen is that, she is a sort of get stranded of not knowing which part is the right way to take to get over her problems. Of cause, due to her problems, she becomes already nervous emotionally, not compose as she tends to blame others for her predicament. Some contingent and necessary truths might be available to rendered some insight of how to get the basic thing right.

But as I said, the nervousness and emotional distraction, becomes an obstacle of which insecurity tends to find its shadow to overwhelms the spirit of of a clear thinking, to even know that -you just cannot -"do any quality jump" without the basic rules, simply because others are doing so. We as individual, as family and society, as I said, are just missing the point in disregard to certain basic issue like" Moral, Standard of living in our society of today, as in the concept of collectivism or individualism that tends to be playing a role without actually a well define role in the society at large.

How long do we really have to remain in this Bivio-or Junction- is left to be desire, as there is always praises of inexplicable strive of development, truth or false?. Of cause, there is always a choice, of -Inductive method or Deductive Method-. Of cause, this is evidence that an eminent thinker considered culture just like “Education”-being defined as a worthwhile, is something which involve the handing on of value. The same is true, that culture is a cumulative thing, with the result that increases in strength or importance. This means that in each generation, when it taught and wrote something that was worthwhile- education, must add something to the existing culture.
The “idea” of value and excellence seems to be clear here, when considered in the perspective of Norman’s definition of culture, as the “pursuit of perfection” and in particular, if we recall “Plato’s Educational ideal for Guardian”. And the ultimate aim of their education was simply the contemplation of the Good of which Nettleship (1938) described as “ascent to truth”. In the same token, Sir R. Livingstone (1944) made the connection between Elites, Excellence and Culture. In his view, the spread of democracy cannot in anyway help in the “standard”-even when democracy is interpreted in social or Educational term. In the same vein, to call masses into power is to dilute the existing culture. This same is true, reflecting in the perspective, he concludes by saying that “Life without standard is the most barren life of all, sweet in the mouth but bitter in the belly”.
And M. Arnold did emphasized a great deal, on the importance of connection between culture and right standards and condemns the upper class of his days, as he labeled them “Barbarians”, of which the reason stern from what he called their obsession with sport and physical prowess. In the first place, we understand by “concept’’-as it refers to a procedure or an abstract idea. And the word “Idea” refers to plan formed by mental effort. With this in mind, we can go ahead to see what the concept of culture is all about. In fact, Culture is a term we come to use very frequently just like the term “Education” with little precise meaning. The reason being that it is a word that seems to convey to most listeners, a general impression instead of precise idea. This general impression is of “doing the done thing”. But there seems to be a connection of the term “Culture” with activities like listening and reading, eating and drinking as well as behave in an acceptable way. With this, there seems to be justification that link culture and education as both involve “doing the done thing”.
And we are told that Education is concern with what is worthwhile activities .Therefore it is clear that any person who perform what looks like a worthwhile activities as mentioned above, is refer to as a cultured person. However, they all tends to develop through history which has become traditionally accepted. And a close examination of the past tends to show that generation after generation have also attempted to match up with what look like a vague idea of education and culture, or an educated man and a culture man. What seems common is the fear of not “doing the done thing” that may result to public disapproval. And if you like, such disapproval by a section of the public may come to view them as doing things that “are not-done”.
This line of thinking, no doubt, tends to lead us to view the connection between education and culture as well as the idea of gentle man and the public or society. Often it appear, that society or the public, at least in part, come to determine what is culture and the same is true, of the existence of a connection between what is worthwhile-Education and Culture. According to Peter- education implies the transmission of what is worthwhile, and the word “implies” seems to suggest that when you think of education, you think of people handing on values to other people. But here there is a connection between education and culture of which both appear to involve values and transmission. Therefore the need to be careful of what value this current generation is handing over to the next generation in the society of today. And could it be, that this current generation only seems to care of what looks like a well developed and technologically advance society but with little concerned about our family and spiritual values.?
