In my last article, I spoke about behavior and habit. This time around, I am speaking about Behavior and Attitude. This is because in my view, these concepts, no doubt tends to have some telling effect in their influence, be it positive or negative, in our day to day activities both as individual and society. And often, we are very passive and unaware of their impact, in our interaction with others.

Of cause, our behavior and attitude, no doubt, often times have its contribution to our failure or success toward an objective in whatever will choose to do in our interaction with others.

It is in the light of this, one must be aware to put in check our behavior and attitude due to its long term implication in the area of value judgment in the society.

As it were the concept of Behavior tends to relate to the expression of our feelings and through the body language in general.

It has being observed that our behavior has an inherent trait of an organism, toward its environment and other organism including man. And organism may come to have similar behavioral patterns in any individual of which how we react to things can affect our behavior.

The same is true that the term Moral implies behaviors set by our social norms, whether we respond or not that may eventually come to depend on our belief system. Such belief system that may be easy to contend with or with certain difficulty due to the situation that may affect our behavior.

It is also true that there are acceptable or unacceptable behavior which is measured with different mode of behavior to determine which is acceptable behavior or otherwise. With the societal norms of good and bad behavior, implies a value judgment, not in isolation, that says that some form of behavior are socially acceptable in the interest of the majority.

On the other hand, the concepts of Attitude tend to involve the predisposition to ideas, people and values, because it begins in the mind and reflect in the body to emanate as behavior. And such behavior can be aggressive, assertive and passive in nature depending on the situation, but can vary in strength to have either positive or negative effect but not without ambivalence, apathy and indifference. It must be observed that attitude tends to change according to individual experiences, although not without hereditary factors that may affect our attitude.

The act of introversion or extroversion is both an attitude, just like conscious and unconscious is attitude. The same is true that the act of rational and irrational is attitude that involves thought and feelings. The extroversion as an attitude gets their motivation from external source with the tendency to act first before thinking. While the introversion type of attitude think before acting and always with reserved tendency.

When it has to do with improving ourselves, and this could be individually or collectively, it is imperative we take into consideration our Behavior and Habits. Because these concepts goes a long way to influencing our focus and determination in their advantage and disadvantages in any individual and indeed, in our collective psychology.

It must be observed that the aim of this write up, however, is simply to remind us of the impact of behavior and habit in our daily activity. This is to enable us to put them in constant check through awareness and reflections in other to overcome the hurdle of challenges we tends to face, although, not without other similar concepts of the like of attitude that often play out during interactions with others.

However, to be clear, it will be appropriate to define these two concept in order to identify them and know how they interact and impact our daily life as individual and as a society.

It must be observed that we are distinct and unique from one another, not only in physical aspect but also in our attitudes and behavior. We are told that our behavior is an inherent trait of an organism towards our environment and other organisms.

But come to be controlled by what biology refers to as "endocrine and nervous system", hence, the very complexity of our behavioural pattern come to be set by the complexity of the nervous system. These two concepts, of Behavior and Habit tends not to be taken seriously in our every day activities, and yet they often have a disorganizing effect both in the life of individual as well as that of the society at large. Often, in an act of generosity or of wickedness, these two concepts tends to be taken for granted, consciously or unconsciously.

But in reality, they remain a salient issues and being denigrated in our daily activity.
In psychology, a person is often come to be described through behaviors and habits, the individual may possessed. The reason is that, such behaviour and habit tends to tell the character and identity of the individual as well the overall attributes of that person.

Although, these two concept seems to be misuse as one and the same, but the reality is that they are different, when it comes to defining the character and identity of any individual at any given time.

Therefore, Behavior means the overall reaction or response to various stimuli and other internal or external input that may be volontery or not, at any give environment. And any such common behavior can be acceptable or unacceptable.

And we often come to judge behavior acceptability by social norms and by nature, we tends to abide by these norms. The same is true, that as a basic human action, our individual behavior tends to depend a great deal, upon the behavior of others, whether we are aware or not. Therefore, it must be observed that our behavior, apart from being a response to an environment or a situation, it also the overall reaction to the different actions in coordination with any given situation in any surroundings.

But this often happen, through the individual system or organism that may be volunteer or involuntary.
In their differences, Habit, is an act we repeat until it becomes automatic, which is often unnoticed due to its subconscious nature. While Behavior is the reaction of the system due to impulses around it.

The same is true that habit being the act manifested repeatedly and subconsciously becomes a routine at some point.Because it is an act we do over and over again, which in most cases, has its advantage and disadvantages.

But it does require to be checked due to its positive aspect of learning which is compulsory to enhancing our intellectual stride at any given time.
Another major difference is that while Habit is subconsciously repeated, even when not sometimes intended, it is often unconsciously done.

Behavior, on the other hand, is the reaction to any outside impulses, often, consciously done.The same is true, that behaviour becomes an output of any individual towards any given environment or situation, while habit becomes an input of any environment or situation and in particular, for certain individuals, through which emanate the the very saying of- "habit die hard".

Therefore, habits and behavior could lead any one to be complacent to the most obvious things due to the subconscious and unconscious nature in our life.
Often, certain individual are quick to dismiss these salient and yet basic concepts with a wave of hand.

This is true , in particular, in modern politics and economics and yet they remain a complex and stunning issues that required to be tackled through education. Because any adequate educational system has the potential to unravel certain historical problem through these concept in the society, although, these concepts often come to treated as a none issues.

The behavior of man often comes to be viewed as spontaneous and responsible most of the time. But very often, it is recognized that his inner determination comes to be disconnected as if he is not to be held accountable for his behavior. We have not been able to reject the accumulating evidence that there are circumstances beyond his control most of the time.

Because of this singular fact, man tends to be exonerated as one is forced to point to the external circumstances beyond his control. The same is true, that the uneducated is no longer to be blamed for his ignorance neither the unemployed for his laziness. Therefore, ignorance of the law is no longer inexcusable, as it were. It will be recalled in the scripture- “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do”.

The insane have long since been clear of responsibility for his own condition. But the neurotic or psychotic behavior seems to be multiplying by the day. The common man is regarded as the product of his environment, but the right of personal credit is often regarded to be for the great men for their investment. And we want to believe that the right- minded individual is moved by valid principle even though we are willing to regard wrong-minded individual as victims of erroneous propaganda. The same is true that often, backward people may be faulted for poor tradition and culture.

We also observed in this perspective that ,often Moslem children in general becomes Moslem just as Christian children becomes Christian and we are never willing to accept an accident of birth as a base for any particular belief. Therefore, we dismiss those who disagree with us as victim of ignorance and regard the promotion of our religious belief as something more than the arrangement of a particular environment.

Of cause, all are but a transition, because we have not totally done away with the traditional philosophy of human nature as to come to term with the current dynamic of evolving reality but not without reservation. It might be accepted in part, the very assumption of determinism- according to the belief that people are not free to choose what they like or how they behave, simply because these things are decided by their background over which they have no control.

But it is only to allow superstitious, call it first allegiance and personal aspiration to rise in defense of the traditional view. However, humanity is currently engaged in what might be regarded as “patchwork” syndrome in which new facts and methods tend to be assembled in accordance with traditional theories. But the problem is not so much with theoretical issue but with practical issue as well, because often, one affects the other. History has informed us about the primitive belief about man and his place in nature which is often flattering. The same is true that science on its part tends to lack in its responsibility to paint man in more realistic picture.

[b][/b] It is self-evidence though, Copernican in his famous theory of the solar system, displaced man from his pre-eminent position at the center of things. Today everyone tends to accepts this theory without emotion, but initially it met with enormous resistance. It must be observed that science may tell us how to deal with human behavior, but may not be able to tell us what is to be done, which is essentially a non scientific issue.

In the word of Margret Mead, “a small group of thoughtful individual could change the world, indeed, it is the only thing that ever has” and in fact the same is true of the opposite. In any political form, ideology becomes the central domain through which any political party stair its cause of action, due to the typical form in which such ideology is presented to influence the political thought and not without the imaginative creativity.

For instance any self –reliance development as a concept is often rooted in political ideology, of which of cause, is not without commitment and focus with the consequence of task formation of what need to be done that differ from other political parties.

Any such task formation must be built into self-confidence and fearlessness that may uplift the very spirit in the aspiration to do greater things different from what has already been done. Historically, the very concept of self-reliance, is not just to improve once lot, but a sort of an organize struggle, be it individual or collective that goes against any historical notion that tends to undermine the value and complexity of the central purpose of which human being come to represent.

The concept of self-reliance tends to reside in the very realm of psycho-political rather than the economic, as it often being assumed. It is significant to know that nature tends to lead humanity through change after change, and sometime through peaceful means as long as we co-operate it. But on the contrary, the opposite is often the case, when we tend to neglect, and choose the act of extreme abuse and passiveness. It must be observe that, nature no doubt, enforce the law of fixation of habit and instinct in every living thing, even lower than rational human being; just the same way it enforces the law of change and rational habit in every living thing higher than irrational animal. In this perspective, close attention and discipline, no doubt, come to make the difference.

It is imperative that this device of change being embodied in the human inheritance, and in the complexity of human being, must be adequately utilized without distraction and passivity. This must be put into use in the very habit of reflection in order to master the cause of our fear of change which is impediment to the overall pattern of the universe. Because to conform to the overall plan of the universe of change or perish, seems to have always be nature’s warning we seems to have being so passive about due to distraction.

The same is true that often times, the very fear and failure and indeed, the shock of disappointment is designed to shake loose the fixed habit we often tenaciously refuse to let go due to our complacency. Be this, as it may, it often tends to serve as a device through which to adapt, embrace and learn a better habit to enhance our lots, not for the purpose to denigrate our advancement.

It is also true that education, which is the bedrock of transformation, must also be allowed to affect our mindset through which we grow and develop from the inside out. The law of change requires a high degree of thinking process and reflection, found through human experience of invention that compels man to develop the mind power. The understanding of this reality is the result of inalienable heritage of nature of which the like of Thomas Fuller, also known as”Negro Tom”, the Virginia calculator was an epitome and a beneficiary with the like of bunch of others in the history man.

Yes, it is unfortunate that Nigeria politics is without Ideology,and does not seems to put into consideration what I may call the humanity aspect in everything it does.

I said this simply, because it is not supposed to be about north east divide politics rather, it is supposed to be about the people of Nigerian in respective of class or creed. But unfortunately, what we seems to see is all about abuse and misuse of "letters" or misinterpretation, instead, if you like, as read in the National anthem. I am not an Igbo, but the idea of not considering the Igbo in the scheme of Nigeria politics, do not seems to really make one feel ok.

The reason is clear, that often they speak about " rotation and character" in the constitution, but it does not often play out that way in reality. Rather, what we see is often politics of individuality and not collective or about people.

I think we should love our self and love Nigeria and read our history to stair the cause of Nigeria politics instead of been so passive and inconsiderate because Nigeria is a great Nation whether anybody like it or not.

Yes, this is the history, lam not a racist, but it was clear Blacks were naturally grifted like every other race. But knowing this history , why the blacks still finding it difficult if not impossible to rise above this psychological problems.

But as Christian, the Bible also speaks about submission and respect . But unfortunately, a bunch of male do not take this into account seriously, even though before any married they under take a lot of counseling session.

A job hazard analysis is an exercise in the detection of hazard at work. The goal is to discover some of the followings;-
1. What can go wrong?
2. What is the likely consequence?
3. How could it arise?
4. What could be other contributing factors?
5. How likely that any such hazard could occur?

To make the job hazard analysis useful, it is important to document the answers to the above questions in a consistent manner. Because describing a hazard in this way helps to ensure that any effort to eliminate the hazard and implement hazard controls will help target the most important contributors to hazard detection.

The same is true that any good hazard scenario describes the followings;-
1. The (Environment) where it is happening.
2. The (Exposure) of who or what is happening to.
3. The (Trigger)-what precipitate the hazard?
4. The (Consequence)-of the outcome that would occur, should it happen.
5. And other contributing-(Factors)
In other to remember the five hazard areas, the what come to be known as (acronym...), we have this -(MEEPS)-that signifies - Materials,

Equipment, People and System.
1. Environment- This is an area that include facility design, hazardous atmospheres, noise etc. And other areas in the workplace that is dusty, wet, too hot, existence of dangerous gases etc.
2. People- This area include unsafe behaviors at all levels in the workplace. Such behaviors as taking short cut and not using PPE and ignoring safety rules all together.
3. System- Every company always has some degree of -safety and health management system.
4. Therefore, it is good to always think of the “state “of such SHMS-(Safety and Health Management System) -as a condition. Because if the System is not working, it may result to behaviors that ignore safe working practices that contribute to accidents in the workplace.

In the last write up, a very fair assessment was made, when I said both inductive and deductive could be good to use, except that the unique environment and if you like, the context of which is applicable must be put into consideration. The same is true, that as an instructional method of approach, not all subjects, the inductive method is actively used, just like not all subjects the deductive method could be actively used, due to the advantages and disadvantages that exist in both methods that may vary from one area to the other.

As an instructional approach, the teacher must make a choice when it comes to teaching concepts, skills and process as a method of application, as regard the learning outcome desired. In the event of such choice, it must be remembered that “Deductive method” is teacher-centered, while the “Inductive method” is student-centered. Then, the next consideration is how personalized should we make such learning be. It must be emphasized that when talking about personalized, we meant how involved in the learning experience coupled with the active participation of which only the inductive instructional approach could allow.

In the deductive instructional approach, which is –teacher-centered, it is a structured learning experience , focus on the students prior-experence in the learning process to provide the required active participation through the teacher as teacher-centered. It will be observed that, although, deductive instructional approach, is more predictable due to information and the sequence of presentation, but nevertheless, it lack an in-depth of understanding and the rate of retention desired and the act of remembering more when learning occur. The reason is that as the student-centered instructional approach, it is like learning on the job with active participation through observation in the first –person approach.

Of cause, this is not just about given explanation of a concept, with bunch of examples that encourages dependency on others sources.
The inductive instructional approaches give new knowledge, and it is a method of discovery through which the learner have the opportunity to observe and experience to raise question from the very learning experience. And this can take place during what may look like exploration process from particular to generalization, of which the students are guided to avoid ambiguities in the process in inductive approach.

This writer is submitting, to be in favor of “Inductive Method” in terms of application not only in the area of instructional approach but also in other area of developmental activities. The reason is very obvious, such that the “deductive method” that has often being in use, has not yielded the need result in terms of development, due to its nature of dependency. In order to carry out adequate hygiene, be it political or environmental hygiene, to use Prof. Lumber’s word, there is need to starts from the particulars and work towards the general situation of things.

Beside, the overall value of responding promptly in the first- person to questions and observations of learners and the role that awareness and consciousness come to play in such development process cannot just be dismissed.

In this perspective, inductive reasoning method of approach is completely the very opposite of deductive reasoning method of approach.

The reason is that, deductive reasoning method of approach, moves from a generalized principle known to be truth into that of specific conclusion based evidence.

Therefore, in a simple definition, "Deductive method moves from a general situation to that of specific situation, while " Inductive method moves from a specific situation to that of general situation. The question that comes to mind here, is which is the best method of application?.

It is not true no one can remarry her, l can do just that if she wish. She only need only some dose of self control and the right partner can provide that, like every other.

You must avoid those who want to control your mind. When you loose your mind, you can do nothing, and you will ever remain in a state of confusion, thinking you are making progress while the contrary is often the case.

The reason is that, you are no longer in control of your mind, as you remain in passive state of mind. It also amount in the loose of self confidence in yourself. .
This is because the mind is the very instrument of transformation, and as such, it is unlimited in its potential to create what we desire, when we think.

It is fashioned this way by God, through which every human being can make a choice to control and change certain situations we no longer desire to have and to that which we desire through personal effort or through others.

Therefore, the need to be aware of this, of which many of us do not think exist in the journey if life. When we are not in control of our mind, a lot of things can just go wrong, of which we often held God responsible, even though, it was due to our passiveness, in an unconscious state at any given time.

Although, God may be wondering why we choose to do what we do, because He gave the free will to be in control of our mind and to choose what we desire. . It is also why we must must walk in the very consciousness of oneness, in order to experience this renewing of the mind to be in control at all time.

There is what is called the mind power which required that we work work without restriction to achieve what we desire to do as we upgrade through reflection in our character in the direction of the perfect will of God in our life.

But we must be ready to be in control of our mind and allow no one to control it, because it determine our progress and advancement in life. It is also true, that our prosperity is determine by the very content and quality of our mind, because being in control can change and establish a perfect structure in the renewing of our mind toward transformation to the perfect will of God.

The transformation of the mind can only come about through the process of organizing and reorganizing, programming and reprogramming, through its content in the consciousness which is sycronized with the word of God and perfect will, in our desire of the transformation.

Every day, however, we must strive to function in the expression of the content and in the working of the power of our controlled mind sycronized with God perfect will and thoughts through our reflection.

Because when we reflect in the controlled mind, there is always the manifestation of the expression of the very character and the perfect will of God, as it upgrade the content and quality of the mind in its transformation, consciously walking in oneness and stability in the silent journey of our life.
