In our everyday life, there is always room for growth, change and refinement. But we must set aside a time for such confinement of thought and opinion and must always be prepared to change or make an adjustment when necessary. By so doing, new knowledge is brought to bear in our consciousness for any eventual modifications and refinement for our experience. The same is often true, in the importance of the power of silence in our journey of life, because often times, the power of silence can moves us into a new dimension of understanding and indeed, a higher level of consciousness. History has often, in way put in evidence, that with silence, one can become a living force in every phase of life. This is true, as it has often come to help to avoid conflicts, and given strength in an emotional moment of crises with the result of attracting the shy to speak out, even unprepared. Indeed, the rule of learning by listening and observation come to gain even more merit, when we are told that the great philosophers of old used the power of Silence, as they impose silence on their student, as the students were able to carry on with their studies. During the time, the students were able to absorbed and contemplate to find their own answers to their numerous problem. Therefore, with the power of silence, one no doubt, can come to the very awareness that knowledge grasps from within hold greater value. But the mind must be controlled to nurture and strengthen not without principles imposed. Because, if silence is required in the interest of honour and dignity, there may as well be another reason which could be justification for secrecy, something more like self- survival. The same is true, if secrecy is often a painful obligation imposed as a form of a rigid society, it may also come to act as a strategy against or around any intruders. However, the stress of being involved in a private and social realities cannot be over emphasised, and it means that a lot of the important activities come to take place in that small area where the inner and outer realities meet the eyes. It must be observed, however, that the vocabulary of vision, is much in evidence here, that tends to indicate just how much is going on in the most sensitive part of our organ , that both connect and separate our consciousness and the world around us. However, in a world full of so many secrets and imposed suppression, the eyes definitely have to be very busy, not only in encountering surfaces , but having to penetrate them enough, not only to decipher the signs and wonders but also to be sure they are well interpreted without being misinterpreted as at when required to do so. |
When speaking of the modern giant of the history of thought, what come to mind is the name of Emmanuel Kant, the German philosopher. In his genius, he combines the " Empiricist and Rationalist thought through the " Critique of Pure Reason in 1781" that marked the end of "Enlightenment" to initiate a new era called idealism. In his view, knowledge is impossible without accepting the truth from both Empiricist and Rationalist' school of thought. In this stance he based his Ethics on reason of which moral duties can be deduced by all rational being. In his view there is uhh a problem with the empiricism method of coming to knowledge. According to Kant, if all we know and collect are particular sensations or particular impressions, according to the view of the empiricism, how can we then arrive at a necessary and universal knowledge?. Put in more simple understanding, how can one explain the very possibility of any scientific knowledge and if you like the very relationship that may exist between cause and effect which enable the mind to grasp the scientific truth. To these turning questions, in taking no side Kant combines the methods to figures out the ways humans come to know things, as he bridge the gap between two schools of thought of the Empiricist and Rationalist. The same is true that, often time, they have a hard time communicating with those whose style of communication is in sharp contrast with their own with the result of misunderstanding and unjust criticism most of the time in the workplace. Among the four mode of communications are as follow:- 1. The Controllers 2. The Analyzers 3. The Supporters 4. The Promoters 1. Therefore, the Controllers are the individuals who may be called the- Doers, because they often want to lead others, like it or not, acting as the driving force within any group they find themselves. They are characterized by emphasis on action and result, with high standard on himself and others, although, constructively and often time very impatient and untiring due to what he comes to view as a responsibility that require attention. Therefore, working or communicating with a typical Controller, be prepared to be tested and fast moving, not without some argument or disagreement with a raise voice that may challenge your thought in the process. However, it must be closely observed that such behavior is never an attack on your person, on the contrary, but on the task at hand. 2. Analyzers are those individuals characterized by analysis and details, a sort of systematic inquiry at every single interval of altered concept during communications or task, the result is they may appear stiff or hard, but not you, rather on the task at hand. They function tenaciously to find satisfaction in what they view as edification as they weigh the options to determine the best possible solution for any given task. These individuals as the name depict, remains a great value, as a logical thinker who at any given time, strives on the side of objectivity, in what may look like a complex problem or situation. Although, there will always be a communication barrier with such individual, in particular, when you side on generalizing rather than being specific. It must be observed that in the mode of communications, it begin with you because before you point the finger to seek any solution for any perceived communication challenge, with any individual, self-examination is imperative. The question is often to be fair, as to whether if you are certain, that the source of certain communications discrepancy or challenge, and if you like, behavior experienced emanated from you or the other individual. Therefore, the critical examination is often required, because you should be concerned with your character not reputation because your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what other think you are, and not really important because it is never stable. It must be observed, that there are spoken and unspoken words in our everyday communication with one another, aware of it or not. The unspoken, sometimes, come to be called body language, depending on the societal norms and often, of the educational or cultural background. The same is true, in a chaotic society, these basic stitches of communication are not often given the credence they deserved in any pronouncement. At a school context, the winner stood up with an extraordinary ovation and bowed down to the huge audience that gathered for the occasion of the day. The man beside one of the individual who was among the audience with his son bend a little just to whisper to his friend and said; " l wish l had a son that smart". The boy beside him fidgeting on what looks like a metal hair next to him looked up to his Dad with sad eyes. At any give time, more often than not, we come to witness this similar scene occurs simply because some individual has not yet learned to make adequate use of the concept called " Tactfulness".lt will be observed that the concept of "Tact" can be found between two other concepts commonly applied by people in our every day dealing with one another, known as " Submissiveness" and " Aggressiveness". It is often true that people tend to be too blurt in dealing with others and called it frankness, unaware of the hurt or discomfort they must have caused to other individuals. Of cause, it could have been avoided where there is sanity and adequate psychological development of the ability to mentally reverse roles. In the scripture, in one of the verses, "do unto others as you would have them do to you", a sort of conscious awareness of putting oneself in the place of the others. Although, we often come to explicate this as; it is due to the environmental pressure, which often disallowed the conscious awareness to take its rightful place. However, it becomes often, difficult, if not impossible to contend with such situation, when it arise, but in reality, taken cognizant of the varying situation at play, self-education can minimize any extreme situation that allows for some level of sanity of communication. To be Tactful is the act of politeness, firm, and yet sincere without any form of self-deceit, when confronting an unexpected situation, with a little dose of sensibility without hurting anyone along the line. According to Emerson Waldo, " defect in manner is usually the defect of perception ", therefore, perception of other people's feelings is equally the very key to becoming more tactful on our part. Often, a bunch of individuals tends not to be aware of these facts, instead, they allow themselves to be drawn into a state of the borderline situation, which is a state between conscious and unconscious situation. In this state, they are unaware of the very effect of their blunder, as they think at this point, nothing matters, as their instinct tends to dominate the act of rationality, and any temporary hurt amounts to nothing. The reality is that any such hurt can be devastating as to tends to ruins one's entire day. Indeed, often any of such hurt can even result in some mental loss of self-worth, just like the one who gave his father a had sad look. Although we can afford to give our opinion, makeup decisions, and take a stand, then look back at the way we actually act and communicated afterward, it becomes obvious, something was missing. As a result, we often suffer, not only from unnecessary pain, but also from what one might call the slow breaking down and frustration of our body. It is often a sound instinct that make us to recoil and revolt at the thought of a total or intentional destruction of being out of the scene. The materialistic aspect of existence, however valuable it may sound, often to our dismay, becomes nothing and powerless and are often never enough to relieve us in the face of any anxiety of impending transition, when it is time. And neither does it stand to prolong our span of life as to satisfied the desire of our future life, inescapably rooted in use. Hence, in the face of death or transition, our imagination often come to fail us in our helplessness in the face mystery of transition or death. However, history has never fail to remind us that, in spite of such mystery, there were still some great thinkers of old, who has sung the praise of death. Although, this does not come to mean that we should seek for it, on the contrary, that we should realize death is inevitable and we cannot live forever. The same is true that we cannot do without it irrespective of our material and spiritual well being and if you like, our intellectual standing, rather it remains a sino- guano, when the monument of transition comes. Nowadays, we come to witness this unexpected transition of our dear beloved once, and continue to ask why, but without answer adequate to explicate the reason why, of which, no doubt, the answer could found in the mystery of death or transition. However, it is becoming obvious, that we should not be disillusioned, if natural death is not often prevented, simply because the glorious death is God's greatest gift to man, especially when it comes after a full span of our existence. In this perspective, we must not forget that Christ came and died for everyone for a reason known to all, and therefore, a type of vocation, which demand that everyone's ultimate vocation is this same divine vocation that tends to offer each and everyone the very possibility of sharing in the same way known to this mystery. As a part taker of such mystery, you are require to always be prepared, as not be among the five virgin in the scripture who could not make it at the last moment. It must be observed that often we have that tendency towards the unification of our life with something unknown, which of cause is God, knowingly or unknowingly. And this tendency demands that we just have to accept with a bit of an effort in our daily existence to do greater things towards the love of our fellow human beings. As we strive to reconcile our spiritual life with that of our material well-being. However, it is clear, that one of the greatest mistake of the contemporary setting is the supposition that our existence come to depend very much on our power of material well-being either through our intellectual process or not. Intellectual knowledge, no doubt, is useful and exceedingly important, but in the order of nature, it is not the originator but a dependent as a function of life. In order to minimize and save ourselves from multiplicity of uncertainty and confusion of our everyday existence, we must realize the underlying unity of all things. Because at the back of all this things, is the presence of one great positive principle without which nothing would have the concept called existence. This great positive principle demands we stand ready to recognize it whenever it acts in our consciousness to instill a new idea, suggestions, and plans for any assistance for the benefit of ourselves and others. Although, not without a pure mind and sordid thought for the benefit of the collective well-being. |

Every individual of whatever class and race have a different level of attitude. This attitude is often being assessed by the level of involvement in the performance of any assigned responsibility. It is the attitude that often paves the way for behavioral action which ultimately influences productivity that enhances development. Attitude and Productivity have largely been studied through which various factor has found to be responsible for some level of relationship. It is argued, that work attitude tends to be more favorable when some level of affection, recognition, friendliness, and indeed, freedom is allowed to enhance productivity. The same is true, where these basic elements are lacking, it no doubt, breed some level of negativity, the like of low moral with low productivity. Any unfavorable work attitude could often result in a poor relationship and lack of recognition, inequitable environment, and insecurity with lack of development. It must be emphasized though, that the individuals will become dissatisfied with the working environment, the result of which is low ethical value through which the process may inhibit some level of attitude detrimental to productivity and development. It will be observed that when productivity and development are adversely affected, any form of advancement and objective, no doubt, suffer, of which the consequences are hitches of unexpected discrepancies. It is pertinent, therefore, to note that a procedure must be laid down in the identification of both these ethical values and standards to establish and guide the conduct, attitude, and behavior in the system. The same is true that the success of any system of any kind, no doubt, come to depend to large extent, what l may call attitudinal factors toward any increase of productivity and development coupled with some level of self-discipline that often assists to develop principles to guide general feelings, conduct, and behaviors. And indeed, this is what can sustain the necessary drivers with positive decisions taken with any set of goals and objectives for the sake of the collective well-being at any given time. |

Culture is not innate in man, such as other various common elements of human nature that are present at birth and remain with man throughout his existence. The learning of the vital part of culture must always take place at the very beginning of man's existence. However, today there seems to be a growing number of people of every class and category of people in the society who are beginning to recognized and realized that they are the architects of their community of culture. Along with this growing awareness, is the growing sense of autonomy and responsibility, not without the recognition of the importance of it's spiritual embodiment and moral maturity it encompass. This responsibility, is of cause, of dua nature, which is of both spiritual and material, that has seems to make a compelling necessity that no little effort gear toward a change be it individual or collective to build a better world is a waist. The reason is not far fetch, because it is the only avenue through which- a new humanism can be born, through which man defined his responsibilities toward his fellow man and history. It will not be surprising, that with such conditions, man will come to the recognition and feel himself responsible for the cultural progress, not without high hope, as he view anxiously and identified what is required to be resolved. In the quest to resolve any such anomalies, is also the resolve to encourage the impulse in the expansion of culture, without however, destroying the dependability to the inheritance of existing tradition. As it were, there is the need, for any genuine cultural progress to take place, to share with a sense of equity and Justice, and to bringing about any fruitful dialogue between various groups in the upsetting any anomaly that may exist. The same is true, of the need to recognizes the legitimate autonomy of culture without falling into what one may call - a mere secular or even anti- religious humanism. However, in spite of any anomaly that may involve culture, that must be developed, and be allowed to bring about an orderly development of the human personality in the fulfilment of many task to which the united human family is called upon on daily bases to promote and not to destroy. |
Having a sense of being a human being like others who deserves respect and fair chance of dignified treatment, is something no one can do without. The bases of any such claim is not really what we literary think, but an endowment to any human being as such, and to everyone, if you like, of selected social category into which one is unquestionably come to fit into, like age group, sex and profession. We might, often come to perceive quite correctly, that whatever anyone might come to profess, there are certain individual who are not always come to be accepted, neither do they often, are prepared to make a genuine contact with them on equal and fair ground of acceptance. This could be desirable from any acquired previous experiences, that often equip one to be intimately alive and confident, for what others may come to view as a failure. However, inevitably such display of impression by others, no doubt, can always ignite in anyone, even if only for one moment, to agree that one does indeed, fall short of what one really ought to be, in contending with one's reality. The same is true, that what seems to becomes the central problem is the psychological depression and frustration that often arise from any individual perception, through one's attribute as being the defiling thing to possess. But with a different outlook, one may come to a point as to break off with the reality, as to be left with only appearance, which might suggest an inflexibly attempt to employ an unconventional interpretation of the character of one's social identity. It must be emphasized, though, that the fear and worry that others may disrespect one because of something unknown to any individual, will no doubt, create an indelible enigma, that could always make any individual physically insecure in contact with others. Make no mistake, that such insecurity, can always arise, not necessarily from any mysterious and somewhat disguised sources, as anxiety does, but from something immediate one could not fix at any given moment; psychological. Often, it is always extremely difficult, if not almost impossible to pretend to keep out of one's consciousness any such formulation of some chronic feeling of the worst sort of insecurity. Needless to add that the devastating result is often that one suffer a sort of chronic anxiety and perhaps, even something worst, if jealousy can really be said to be worst than anxiety. The problem of the reality of acceptance, although pathetic, is but a cultural and problem of attitude that vary from one place to the other, not without string of language attached to it. This is an attitude that mostly undermine any implications, with the tendency to constructing a theory or ideology just to explain away with a wave of hand of a certain incomprehensible social phenomenon and frustration of individual or collective aspiration of the unknown. And in order to account for the unknown danger it represent, there often emanate the very act of rationalizing the animosity it generate based on the diverse outlook of the social classes. Notable among the category of individuals, is the act of using some specific terms in their daily discourse, a sources of metaphor, typical, of certain individuals, without given a second thought to their original meaning. In the process, they impute a wide range of imperfections on the basis of the original one, often of a supernatural cast to buttress, in what looks like an imposition of an understanding, of the reason of their attitude. This becomes what looks like the cardinal- point, through which everyone feels a sense of belonging, of the like of being human and required and demands to be treated as such. |

To Achieve our necessities in life, we must come to recognize that a truly unfettered and unwavering belief is but the fundamental tenet in fulfilling our deepest desires and dreams without any infringement. The same is often true, that belief, faith, and unconscionable knowledge that we are Destin to achieve something, no matter what the struggle may be, often becomes the most crucial determining factor in our ability to do anything or to do something. In embarking to do something, we know we must focus on "commitment not motivation", the reason is clear, because when we are truelly committed, motivation will follow. It is one of the reasons, we do not relent to seek knowledge, but not result because in seeking knowledge we invariably focus on the excitement of discovery, improving, and experimenting through which you are motivated. But when you focus on the result, you have less motivation the moment the result is not forthcoming as you may require or as you hit the storm. As it were, it is the journey or process, if you like, and the history, not the destination which is the key and which you must keep on track to know what you are learning and as strive to improve on it. In any such process or history, there is always the need to avoid any stagnating thought or situation. The reason is also clear, because our thought often tended influence a lot of our feelings negative or positive, it may be. And feelings, no doubt, determine how we come to view our situations. Without kidding anyone, we all know that there is always a bunch of thoughts in the head, like it or not, we have our choices of which to go along with at any given time. Such that it may emotionally stick with, fear, deat or emotionally exciting- like trying new things, step out of comfort zone that may eventually be rewarding. The same is valid, that to save yourself from any self-pity and depression, there is the need to cultivate the strength to realize yourself as you are, as you allow reason to be part of any of your desires. In doing this, you avoid fixing any hope beyond the bounds of probability, so that your heart may not be excessively hurt or vexed with any eventual disappointment. The same true, when you allow reason and observation to be part of the process, we must come to recognize that every experience we encounter, the like of which, ever color or shape it choose to be, is the very result of the working system of a "cause" of something, not the "effect" of anything. It is often true that the word, " chance" is devoid of any meaning of which in reality, it is simply rooted in the deepest source of destiny. This is not just a theory none a speculation, but a fundamental truth known only by a few. Hence, the need to look for yourself, because our outer self is like the "prodigal son" who went away from his father and lived among the pigs and swine, while the real "I" remain with the father, the rest is history, it becomes a moral obligation to bring back the ourself, the prodigal - son to the happiness and reality, demanded by our time and indeed, to the perfection of the father's home not without diligence and painstaking moment. |
There is the need to know that once in a while you must look for yourself. And when you have find your true self and have the awareness that you are the one you looking for, then your experience will, no doubt, unfold in a life of profound peace, joy and happiness with the profound truth in the mix of any adversity and disappointment in a turbulent world of today. Just as Plato's idea of all ideas of goodness, which is the awareness that you are what you are and must accept yourself in the face of any opposition or indifference and elections. When you have found yourself, there will be for you in the scripture of wisdom a geometry of the spirit which you delight to ponder and apply to the infinite intricasies of life and characters it present. It must be known that humanity, passing and repassing between two eternities, will no longer appear to us at appointed time, as an interesting pagant and unrelated to us. According to Schopenhour, a German philosopher, " the essential to life's happiness resides in what one has in one self". The principle source of human life comes from within and from the depth of the soul. Therefore, it be living in the consciousness and knowledge of the real- self, that one gradually can bring back the outward- self to rest in support of the Divine spirit within, not the contrary. Indeed, this often the language and gift of the solitude that very few are willing to listen to, but it must be preferred to that of a turbulent society because the language of the society is that which set itself to the expression of negative emotions rather to address itself to the problem of conduct that inflame more of the turbulence the world is struggling to overcome. |
Nearly everyday of our life, we experience various type of unexpected events. In most cases, some of these events fall within our control and some others do not. Frequently, we can avoid many adverse conditions through the application of intelligent coupled with wisdom to live our life the way we deem fit. We do this by trying various method we deem campactable to our way life. Although, these event beyond our immediate control, which we are unable to trace their roots no don't requires tome and perseverance. But must look out and divise means of how to cross over, such of the like of sudden and unexpected occurrences we have no immediate solution, which no doubt, pose itself as a challenge. There are also certain situations that may present themselves as it ask for our understanding as it poses itself as complicated although require a necessary solutions that could create conflict of pain in us. But such conflict and pain no doubt, ask for reflection and prayers, even if u are not a believer, otherwise, it must remain a life challenge to overcome. With reflection and minor detachment, and with what looks like personal judgement, the reality of such challenge will have to be unveil with Bn time not without high degree of detachment from purely personal issues as one is able to bear, what l may call the accelerated vibration that has accumulated overtime for their eventual dissipation. Therefore, those of us that has persistently fought our ways along these hard and rough phase of life knows very well enough, the painful misgiven, the harasing doubts and the solitary questioning of the heart, which do beset us. Yet l believe, there are but very few, who could testify to this reality on emerging from what l may call the shadow of deat, that all was well with them. However, we must bear in mind that, there is a level of such reality that exist as it beset individuals, and therefore does not really matter any more, the level of such difficulty, if we have been able to comprehend and understand the truth behind such life experience it offers. It often, mean that if we are reflective enough, we will discover that, there could have been no other way we could expect to acquire the strength for further development. |
Choosing to live, is already a pre- moral choice. Then comes the question of how? . And we know what is good and what is bad. Then what follow is " What do l do".One can either go about it randomly or methodically designed to avoid anything bad but striving to be on the side of good, of which that methodology come to be called morality. This explicitly morality will allow one to choose rationally among values, which is the motive to act to gain and keep. Values are concerned with goals that one is able to pursue among the many values. Values are the motive power behind any purposeful action, as the end in which we act. It must be observed that without values, we cannot act, it tends to specifies relationship between person and goal. It must also be observed that, it is the goal to which one aims that come to represent the value, of which a relationship is required, because object cannot be a value in itself. It must be said that values are essential to ethics, because ethic is concerned with human actions and the choice of those actions, which it evaluate to know the values that underline them. The evaluations is to determine which values should is good to be pursued and which is bad not to be pursued, because ethic is the code of values. Previously, we have said, morality will always allow one to choose rationally among values, but what does it mean to be rational?. However, it must be said that rationality apart from been a habit of acting by reason, it is the recognition and acceptance of reason as the only source of knowledge, the only judge of value and guide to action, but in accordance with the facts of reality.However, it must be added that rationality does not mean, being a perfectionist in thought and ideas, but acting acting according to reason and is a virtue only to the extent that it encourages towards a method of survival. Therefore, morality makes selection of values rational as it provide adequate method of evaluation. The same is true, that in this perspective values comes to be compared to a moral standard and prioritized according to how well it come to promote that very standard. But to make any decisions aesier, a virtues must be developed which are moral habits that help to gain many values. |
In this write- up, from the philosophical perspective, l would like to make it clear, that it is a well known fact that no school of taught has been able to make it explicitly clear and adequate of the level of universality and necessity, inherent in the axiomatic truth or the first principle. In it's application, no theory has been able as well to pass beyond the subjective boundary, even in the level of psychological necessity that often compel an individual mind to judge that the first principle is universal and necessarily true. Although, we often can perceived that the first principles, even though, it seems not to be true for us, it is no doubt, true for our mind and everything around us. Therefore, it must be observed that the first principle tends to form the very foundation of the scientific and philosophical knowledge. And it must be observed that, the subject and predicate of the first principle are logically connected with the absolute necessity, that has to do with something; which is the internal subjective and intrinsic in nature. This something and intrinsic in nature, however, is distinct and logically independent that proceed from the constitution of the mind itself. There is the question of what forces the intellect to place the absolute necessity in judgement. However, we are faced here, in what looks like the basic facts, such that with the ultimate experience present in our consciousness through introspection and reflection, an effort is often,made to extract the right answer. Through the introspection and reflection, attention must be give to what take place, when making any judgement, as to be able to discover, what it is, that prompt and compel the intellect to consider that such judgement is absolutely necessary in its validity. It must be observed that, very often that it is the reason in its reliance in what come to be called - the cogent objective evidence on the logical relation that seems to exist between the concepts of judgement, which by the way, has nothing to do with the subjective necessity that may arise from the constitution of the mind. It is worthy of note that when the first principle is true merely for the mind, it may not be true in itself, and the same is true that, when the first principle is true in every mind and in everything, then, it is objectively true in itself, independent of any objection in this regard. The reason for this stern from the fact that,(1.) We tends to, in our mind to make it to be true by restricting the true-value in the intellect, just to make it purely a subjective concept. And secondly-(2)-The true- value, no doubt, tends to conform to the reality that indicate that there exist a direct perception of the concept in it's objectivity. |
Any positive and competitive culture must have the basic assumption that reflect some level of general understanding and flexibility with a minimum of parochial and vested individual interest, rather of the collective well being. Such culture, no doubt, must be able with minimum disposition deal with any transformation, irrespective of the evolving complexity of the change in question. The willingness and disposition must be part of such an equation that demonstrates in an integrated manner in the system for it to function with a high level of commitment for the wellbeing of the collective interest. The ability of transformation must be expressed in a balanced perspective about the demand and pressure from the external environment because any such demand will often come to be manifested in the ambivalent functionality of the system. The same is true, that it is not always without ambivalent, the very benefit of any such transformation may bring about for the various invested groups. As there is a competitive culture so also is there a stagnating culture which is an embodiment of a high level of the basic assumption that tends to reflect an attitude of rigidity in its oblivion to flexibility and in its tendency to align with the status quo and parochialism, to the detriment of the collective interest. This is always a culture that is unable and unwilling to take the first step, due to what looks like a prevailing general attitude of passiveness and complacency about the issue of transformation, due to lack of the very spirit of disposition and ineptitude in any given situation. It will be observed, that such inability, often stern from an inexpressed fixation of the status quo, the like of apathy towards the demand of the external environment. Therefore, the result of a fragmented functionality of an entire system is not without a resistance to actions that may jeopardize the vested interest and parochial preference with it's relative result of stagnation. It has been presupposed, therefore, that any key meaningful action and model must take the first step of both structure and aspiring action for any transformation to be meaningful. But any aspiring action and structure is necessary and must stern from the extent of engagement toward the long term shaping of a new belief system and value based action. Of course, through this belief and value based action, information about the status quo will gradually emerge, as it specify the desire future, not without adequate definition in the formation of the require value system, through which materials and human resources are provided to enhance the system with some level of regulations of the desire transformations for the benefit of all. |
In the contemporary setting what seems to stand out is nothing but the great deception of love and relationship, of which materialism becomes the dominant factor over the spiritual, with an illusion that we can get anything we want, even without God. The same is true with, an illusion that we can find authentic freedom by excluding an element of moral truth and personal responsibility. It must be observed, that taken responsibility, is often a thing we are reluctant to accept, and indeed, not always disposed to make, even though, it is an inevitability that happens before we consider such possibility. In the past decade, we have come to witness the increasing emphasis on the need to develop a new mechanism or approach brought about by the current advancing technology; a new strategy of a learning culture, if you like. The learning culture that thrives to balance Materialism with that of our spiritual life, that concentrate more on the greater spirit of brotherhood. Of course, not without sustainable competitive advantage over the long term strategy, due to what looks like, an increasingly complex and turbulent environmental degradation with an uncertain future without any immediate solution. The learning culture may be characterized by past experiences, through inductive perspective by learning to learn. The basic assumption on the belief on a learning culture can be deduced along two dimensions which is that of flexibility and focus on the environment and commitment, that facilitates in the sharing of responsibilities and information in supportive with the participative mindset in the learning to learn. They share basic assumption, of that which contrast flexibility with any environment with the result of rigidity with the status quo, while the basic assumption that contrast commitment is but the parochial orientation. But the integration of this concept did also allow for any development of a unique model of preparedness for any genuine transformation in the process. As it were, any learning culture can become a model that reflects the basic assumption of flexibility and commitment with a disposition and williness to decisively deal with any form of transformations without procrastination. |

Of cause, in fact, it all seem to emanate from the epidemic of self centeredness with a dose of intellectual distractions and misconception as what value actually represent in our existence as human being. We must observed that from one generation to the other, there has always been a shift of value system due to a bunch of factors visible or invisible according to the role we play, just as we are currently having about the ecological issue, if you like. The very idea of not been careful enough, becomes a serious issue, because really, the concept of moderation and balance, becomes very necessary, not only as it apply to issues but also as it apply to every facet of our daily activities, without drifting too much to either extreme of which is not often without negative implications. It was between 17th and 16th century, that there arose a movement of intellectual thought, in Europe with the sole aim to reject what many come to view as external authority, which of course, was the dogma of the Church at the time, in the environment , with personal subjective judgement. They were, however, celebrated in their intellectual individualism, hence, the word - Enlightenment. With an objective to seek and banished any idea of living by repository of wisdom beyond one's own intellect at the time, in fact, the period came to be known as the age of reason and secular culture, if you like. The same is true that it was a period with the notion that every human rational being should be able to work out the truth about life for themselves. Although, it was not without some element of misconception with some dose of misplaced concept along the line, because, they take for granted the all matter of basic belief, the strong feeling that exist or what is true for every individual. The result was what appear to be the control of opinion makers and information disseminators of the time. Indeed, it was like a type of mindset that seems to move against the value system and the dignity of man and the interest of the collective wellbeing, so it was viewed later as such as a shift of value. Now another big shift of value is required, of which the nature and the shape, becomes now the problem, but make no mistake, in spite of the micro shift that has be take place, it has been filled with a bunch of contradictions, due to lack of balance and moderation missing in the whole concept, be it political or economic, of which the current climate change and other situation is telling to our face daily, whether insecurity or war going on everywhere, but could this be a distractions, yes or no. The reality is that for any society to truly have human face, some element of being confidence about the future must necessarily be a feature of reality in the scheme of things. Materials well-being cannot take the place of the Spiritual well-being but adequate and balanced utilisations for the wellbeing of both society and the conduceiveness of the environment for the citizens at large is required. The same is true that when talking about - balance and moderation, this must be viewed majorly in the light of Material and Spiritual well-being of which the diverse environment is not excluded, as orientation must begin from inside out, that implies a genuine purification of the heart, to recognized that there cannot be any darkness of error that can act as a replacement of man in the scheme of things in the light of his creator. |

The development of science and technology as we have come to witness over time, cannot actually free humanity from the very obligation to ask the ultimate existential questions that ranges from basic needs and rights. Although, these existential questions, no doubt, spurred us to face up to the most painful and sometimes, a decisive struggles of those of the heart and the question of moral conscience. The contemporary man often tends to have the greater need for the inner-self and the outer- self in order to know God and himself. Of course, such appearance and knowledge would have demonstrate the need to nurture a sense of dignity and self respect. Because through such knowledge, we can come to know the true meaning of our existence as we work in the pathway of true freedom of justice and peace. But there exist one of the Christian truth, which is not about ideology, but in the very recognition that there must be a change in the social and political spectrum in favour of man, that cannot be confined to any rigid structure. And indeed, this often call for a deep reflection in the constant re- affirmation of what might be called, the transcendental, in that which seems to go beyond the limit and experience and knowledge and indeed, reason, in fact, in that which encompass the dignity of human person, if you like. The same is true that, in what one may call the evolutionary salvific journey of man, there have been numerous recorded historical advocate of a genuine emancipation of humanity. The emancipation that could inspire, not with passive acceptance, but with authentic and firm resolve to work effectively in the pathway of truth and order to free man once and for all from any form oppression and violence forces, and indeed, from the shackles of poverty of our time. It is true that through such collective resolve, humanity will be truly returned, as man strive to enhance his dignity in the exercises of his full right and potential in the scheme of things. But there is the gospel of prosperity which in substance is adequate, but accidentally spoke about material abundance as a sign of Divine favour, of which there is complete silent about the purpose of this material abundance in the life of any man. Because it has become a moral issue and in particular, as there still remain a bunch of haggared and hungry Lazarus out there hanging around us and yet we are so indifference about their plight. Indeed, it is a moral deficiency and indictment on the contemporary setting in which , even majority are been deprived and abused in the mixed of abundance and prosperity. |

One of the question that comes to mind, is often, "what is Ethics" and "what could workplace Ethics consist". Really, it will be right to say here, that Ethics is about right and wrong in human endeavor. The foundation of ethics requires a standard of value, of which our lives and happiness comes to depend, and indeed, without which we cannot adequately pursue our goals. Ethics in the workplace consist in the application of moral principles and standard of behavior, along with a set of values that has to do with proper conduct in the workplace, both as individual and as a group. But for the very fact that, every workplace differ from one another, the following become very essential to consider at all time in ethics which are:_ (a) Trust worthiness. (b) Respect. (c) Responsibility. (d) Fairness. (e) Caring. The same is true that ethics applies to relationship between the following individuals in the workplace that has a positive telling effect. (a) Between the Management and Supervisor. (b) Between colleagues and employees. (c) Between the customers as well. In this context, communication becomes the very key that foster the relationship and respect within the workplace environment, but based on honesty and integrity. The same is true that cautious must be take to cross the line between that personal friendship in the workplace and professionalism. In the encouragement of good ethics in the workplace, the following must be observed:- (a) Fair consequences. (b) Fair treatment. (c) Recognition. (d) Clear and consistent communication. (e) Adequate office policies. (f) Training. It must be observed and bone in mind however, that these points are just some of the vital concept of ethical standard that contribute and enhance productivity in any workplace or organization. |
The human person's personhood, is rooted in his spiritual dimension which in the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas, of which the spirituality constitutes the very core of the human person unlike no other created creature. It is from this core springs all of man's intentions, thoughts and motives and feelings, rational or irrational. Although, it could be said that man tends to share the vegitative and sentient faculties and indeed, operations with plants and animals, but it remains that such faculties and operation cannot be reduced to the level of plants or animals. The reason is deduce from the fact that man's operations are grounded in the spiritual and rational nature of man. The same is true that because of man's spiritual dimension, the human person cannot be reduced to the level of things or object, and indeed animals,no matter the rededfinations for whatever outrageous reason, and of course, any such attempt, although, understandable but unacceptable. The Thomistic principle is of the view that man's subjectivity implies man's irreducibility to the level of animal or things. The reason stern from the very fact that man is not just a sample of nature because of his special place in the order of created beings. The spiritual dimension of man which is the core of his being, unlike no other created being, is not just a pure spiritual subject, but a concrete subject that incarnate his inner self through his body. Accordingly, the human person is a concrete "I" which is existing and acting. The same is true, that as a concrete subject, his concrete experience, is endowed with specific subject and concrete "I" that is nonrecurrent and unique none comparable to any created being. Only human person is unique and unrepeatable subject who possess and dominate himself and determine his own existence. Therefore, a person is self subsistence, which means he is self_ oriented, self_purposed, and indeed, an end to himself, a being with absolute value like no order, in the order of created creature. In addition, a person has dignity of his own, not bestowed on him by another, with inviolable and incommunicable and absolute right that are not subject to negotiation; the right and freedom of responsible, self creation and self fulfilment. It is through the spiritual dimension, that human person becomes aware of himself and possess himself because the spiritual essence enable him to master himself as he become self- manifesting, self _ communicative and self _ sharing and self_ given. The same is true that in this dimension, the human person is self-transcending, as he transcend himself and go beyond all what is relative and temporal to relate with the absolute and eternal. The human person capacity for intense self possession, expresses itself in a conscious, free and self creation. |

As a student of philosophy, l could not hold back not writing about -human Person and his Dignity, putting in context, the way we come to view human beings, in this part of the world. As it were, we have "Essence and Existence" (esse) whichp are the intrinsic constitutive principles of a real being. Indeed, Essence is basically a potential principle that come to be actualize by Existence or esse. The same is true that, it is the Essence that make a thing what it is, and it is the principle of determination and limitation. But Essence is individuated in the reality and is universal in the mind, it is because of this that is often misunderstood with other universal concepts.Therefore, Essence come to tell us what a thing is and what it can become and what it ought to be, and it has a concrete content with natural tendencies and dynamic in principle, as principle of operation. As principle of operation, through reason and will the spirituality of man became actualized through which he come to the realization of himself.But through the activities, reason and will, the psychological and moral personality come to take shape. Following the philosophy of g Aristotle, in the soul of "Man" the spirit is the " substantial form" of the body which animate the body as it make it move and act. The same is true that, it is the principle of life and activity of the human being. The soul of man, as substantial form, aside from the spiritual powers or faculties, are intrinsically dependent on matter or body, which is the sensory faculties. But all the faculties of human soul work to perfect human being as it contribute to the very development of human person. The same is true, that because of the constitution of the human person is composed of material and spiritual, this make human person a unique entity from all other entities. Due to this uniqueness from other entities, human being, or man is considered object because of his nature, and also subject. But as subject, he is an entity that exist and act in a unique way, which exist also as object, but objective somebody,set apart from all other entities in the world which are object only of something, according to, Karo Wojtyla, _ in his " Love and Responsibility". The same is true that, it is not enough to define man as individual of the specie of homo, because the very term"Person" has being coined to signify that man cannot be contained only with the concept of individual, due to the very fact that, there is more to man in his uniqueness. The same is true,that there is more to man in his richness in the perfection of his being brought out by the use of the term-"Person". The most obvious and basic of this fact, can be found in his ability to reason compared to other entities of the world .In fact, man is the only rational being differentiated from all other objective entities, in his distinctive character as a person and distinguished from the most advance animal due to his inner specific- self, characterized only of person with dignity. Indeed, it is only man, whose cognition and desire is stamped with spiritual character, basic of a genuine inner life, due to his spiritual life as the basis of his rationality distinct from all other entities in the world. |
Dear readers, for quite sometimes now, l could not write anything. However, l must thank you all for your time off to read my short articles. Today, l tried to search for the differences between "Concrete and Abstract thinking". As it were, in our every day interaction, we often come to think differently, in relation to an event and things. And in doing so, we either think concretly or in abstract manner. Concrete thinking tends to refers to thinking in a superficial or surface manner while abstract thinking is related to an in-depth manner. For instance, a person who think in a concrete manner would come across a status and view it without reading any meaning to it and just see for what it is. On the other hand an abstract thinking individual would see it in a figurative manner, reading multiple meaning to it. Concrete thinker, often look forward to facts, while abstract thinkers look forward to an in-depth or below facts. The same is true, that while mental processing is involved in abstract thinking, but no such effort is required in concrete thinking. The Concrete thinkers do not think beyond facts because they often lack the ability to think beyond certain limit. The same is true, concrete thinkers tends to generalized concept for things. The abstract thinking individual, on the other hand, often have a specific concept for things and tends to have an understanding of multiple meanings. Therefor, it is clear, that while abstract thinkers are involved with metal processing through ideas, the concrete thinkers tend to look forward to facts and to what come to be seen, without reading any meaning to it. And this is sometimes called literal thinking, simply because it is the type of reason that focuses on the physical object, immediate to experience, if you like, in a short term instead of a long term experience. |
I hope the curriculum will be well figure out before it commence. I often think what is missing in African or Nigeria politics are the basics, through which a solid idea could be derived and lay bear for open minded individuals, instead they seems to focus so much on the big picture as they forget their origins without a moment of reflection. We are so scare of our history ,our identity and indeed, without philosophy not just a raw and superficial politics that often end in content only. We need politics that add values.
