TheLoneCitizen:You see, hammarby will develop Akinkunmi Amoo into a world class player. The greatest problem African players have is situating a club that is actually interested in developing them. All these famous clubs are not interested in developing local African talent. The clubs that are developmental in nature are: 1. Red Bull Salzburg: This is very obvious 2. Nordjallen: This club developed Mohammed kudus 3. Hammarby (where Akinkunmi Amoo is) 4. Generaly, the Nordish leagues (i.e Norway, Sweeden and Denmark). 5. The Belgian league 6. Isreal league where peter Olawale is (his club is a developmental club) 6. Man city subsidiaries like sk lommel and one club in France etc . Ifk Gothenburg (that developed alhassan yusuf Midtyland that developed Onuachu, onyeka etc 5. Others i cant remember or do not know Hammarby is particularly interested in West African players and the owner of Sidos (Akinkunmi Amoo's football academy) actually has an agreement with them. He could have been sold to a bigger club but his managers refused as they did not have a developmental plan for him. This is where our u17's should go. Going to a big club can be counter-productive. Our youths fail in Europe because they go to the wrong environment but i am very happy we have learnt our lessons Samson Tijani's movement to Red Bull Salzburg was brilliant as they are committed to youth development There are some clubs in Europe our youths should not even go to or at best such clubs should sell/loan them immediately. Anyway i commend Liverpool for developing Taiwo Awoniyi well. They constantly loaned him to where he could get playing time until they found a good club for him in Germany where he will be played as he is their most expensive player there. Our u17's and u20's will now suceed in Europe more often because we now know the importance of developmental football and not rushing someone to Barcelona after scoring 15 goals in a youth competition. Lastly Pele said Africa will win the world cup because African footballers will go to Europe and learn and i think he was right. |
humility33:The only thing stopping him is injury and loss of form. This is someone who has played for inter Milan and Torino and is experienced in the Italian league. If he stays injury free and he is in form he will be a powerful addition to our midfield. Try him in a couple of friendlies and see what he has to offer. How many midfielders do we have in a top 5 league. He should be considered. Is it because he is not oyibo. I don't understand |
andrew444:Ozornwafor should leave Galatasaray to a club where he will get playing time. They are wasting his time there. It doesn't matter if it is a second division team in the Turkish league. The way they are benching him bothers on sheer wickedness. Why buy him from Enyimba as a talented teenager and consign him to the bench. European clubs and their insincerity with African players. |
jihday:YOu are right. Hitler was once president of Germany and his rascist ideology was used as an instrumentality of government. As popular as he was, he was not germany. The federal republic of Germany lived on after him. Germans are not Hitlerites and after his demise, his ideology was done with and Germany redefined herself as a nation. Nigeria has existed and will exist after Buhari and his activities cannot be used to define Nigeria. As a sports man, you are representing the nation of Nigeria and in 100 years time if you win an Olympic Gold, you will have won it for your Country and not your president (buhari or whosoever). The nation of Nigeria belongs to the people of Nigeria and its citizens no matter how much our leaders like to bully us and mismanage the country. However, with the way things are going Nigeria may not last more than 15 to 25 years. I forsee a massive civil war, insurgency or uprising which the Governmet wil not be able to contain and which will lead to 2 things. 1 Either we have a regional Government where peace and justice reigns 2 We break up and disintegrate as a nation. Our leaders cannot see beyong 2023. Even if they succeed in 2023 by 2035 Nigeria may be facing disintegration and civil war and they will not even have a country to rule over. Nigerian leaders are ignorant, short sighted and myopic and lack the vision for long term planning. They are just brianless. They believe eronousely that because they are in power, they can get away with anything but they lack the wisdom to know that very soon, they will not even have a country to rule and they might lead Nigeria on the road to Mogadishu and Somalia. If care is not taken Nigeria may produce a Charles Taylor who will cause a 5 year civil war that will lead to disintegration. Nigerian leaders are underrating the capacity of the masses and the certain section of the country to protest and fight for their rights. Our leaders will be shocked by the strange turn of events |
charlesemeka85:Nigerian football will be in total darkness without football academies. In fact, most of the best players in the Nigerian league are a product of football academies. Samuel Nnoshiri (who according to report just moved to Real Oviedo in Spain) is a product of football academies. Without football academies we will be running after foreign borns and begging them anyhow. In fact, our national team will be so bad that we will not achieve anything. |
komekn:The new rule is that playing regularly in a top 5 league qualifies a player for work permit in England. As per awoniyi he can have a career like Yakubu Aiyegeni. He can score regularly for average teams in the top 5 league like Yak did. Teans like Union Berlin and Aston villa. Wether he is good enough for top teams like Liverpool or Juventus is what I don't know |
Kwame Nkrumah said "I was not born in Africa but Africa was born in me". Bob Marley was actually half caste (his father was a white man) but he fought for Africa all his life with his music. Diasporan Africans contribute to the development of Africa (and in this case Nigeria) more than even the native born ones. A lot of our foreign born players can actually build academies in Nigeria. Who told you Leon Balogun or Tammy Abraham will not be interested in building football academies, investing in our league or even starting companies in Nigeria? They simply have to be stimulated. Diasporan Africans are helping Africa in many ways. According to a website "$25 billion annual remittance by Nigerians in the Diaspora was more than 80percent of the country’s annual budget and formed about 6percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP)”. Its about who you feel allegiance for and it is a thing of the mind. Even foriegn borns that did not play for us can invest in our Economy. As per the issue of playing for a country, Anybody can play for anybody. Emmanuel Olisadebe played for Poland even though he was born and bred in Nigeria and even played in the Nigerian league Holland actually wanted Salomon Kalou to play for them when he was young. So it doesn't allways work like that. Nigeria needs her disaporan Africans in order to grow and develop in all aspects of life codemaniacs: |
charlesemeka85:I think from next season at least 5 clubs must have an academy or the league will not start. If we have to close down NPFL for 6 months in order for just 5 clubs out of 20 to have an academy so be it. Also, each year at least 3 more must have an academy or the league will not start. Also, any club without an academy 3 to 5 years from now should be closed down. Better to have 14 good clubs than 20 who cannot produce anything. Also, all clubs must have a certified coach. Nobody should be allowed to coach an Npfl team without coaching certifications. Any team without a certified coach should be fined and banned for 2 years. These stringent measuers have to be done to raise the standard of our league Nigeria is a country where we do not do things that are up to global standards. We do simple things the wrong way and expect results like beating Mexico with a home based team We need to do things up to global standards. Next season should be reformation season. Also, measures should be taken for coaches to be certified and be exposed to the latest method in training. Our teams should also be encouraged to recruit players from our football academies. The barcelona academy in Lagos should try and cooperate with Nigerian clubs so as to transfer some of their players there. The local league is gradually loosing relevance and football academies like tiki taka (that produced Alhassan Yusuf), Ebedie fc (that produced Femi Martins, Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka) etc seem more relevant to our football. Anyway the chairman of the body in charge of our league (LMC) has stolen a lot of money over the last 3 to 5 years. In fact, the reason why npfl was not televised was because the money supersport put in the league for television rights was embezzeled. The leaders of the LMC must be millonaires by now. Amaju Pinnick is generally a thief |
humility33:It's baffling but till tomorrow I don't know why he could not cut it in Monaco. He has everything to succeed. Dribbling skills, assist, goals etc. He even has end product and his stats are good. I believe he can make it in an average team in a top 5 league. Teams like Lorient, Torino, osaduna etc. He needs to go to a higher level. His talent will always attract the attention of teams in top 5 league but the question is can he make it there? |
charlesemeka85:If I was Rohr I will choose Alhassan yusuy over him. He is a fast rising talent who just moved to Royal Antwerp. Onazi is still good but the Lithuanian league is too obscure. I doubt if the onazi of 2013/14 can return. That injury he suffered against France affected him badly. I mean he was bossing a midfield that had Pogba. Matuidu was very wicked and should have been sent off and banned. Again I wonder if the onazi of Lazio can return but for now I will prefer Alhassan yusuf and other younger options. |
It's high time Nigeria won a world cup or get to the semi-final. We are a footballing Nation and we deserve it. We are the first African country to win a FIFA organized tornament in 1985. We have won everything at youth level. We are the highest ranking African team in history (1994 eagles were 5th best in the world). Apart from eto we are the only African country with a 20 goal striker in the Italian league (Simmmy nwankwo). The most expensive African player is a Nigerian (Victor Osimhen). The first African to play for Chelsea is a Nigerian (Celestine Babayaro). The highest scoring African in the fa cup is a Nigerian (Kelechi iheanacho). There is a Nigerian kid called Francis dada in Bayern youth team. We have our wonder kids like Akinkunmi Amoo waiting to explode. We have the histi, pedigree and culture to do it. We only need to believe in ourselves. WE CAN DO IT After all Ahmed Musa once went toe to toe with Messi and proved himself. It's high time we fullfiled our potential and won the world cup |
This is disheartening. Sadiq Umar to krasnodar in Russi. He deserves better than this. Nigerian home grown players lack ambition |
This forum is now a reference point for Nigerian players. Any coach or agent looking for Nigerian players (even npfl players) can come here to make a reference. I mean from Supernerd to bascovanvelli and his passion for home based. I first learnt of Alhassan Yusuf's move to Royal Antwerp here |
Samueltemi337:Look there is one Andrew Randa who is the media officer of Nigeria's u20 and he seems to be marketing Nigerian players to them in Watford. I have a slight suspicion Kelechi Nwakali could end up in Watford as Randa could market him. I think Randa marketed Emmanuel Dennis to them. It's good anyway that we have a Nigerian who is influential enough to market Nigerian players to European clubs |
Watford, Leeds and Bournemouth are interested in Kelechi Nwakali. His wonder half season in Alcorcon is now getting some positive attention In fact, Huesca are pricing him at 15 million euros https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/bournemouth-to-rival-premier-league-outfit-in-ambitious-transfer-pursuit-of-15m-rated-man/ https://sportslens.com/bournemouth-join-leeds-united-in-the-race-for-kelechi-nwakali/371264/ https://onefootball.com/en/news/bournemouth-join-leeds-united-in-the-race-for-kelechi-nwakali-33339091 |
Philosopher1979:Yeah but he played in the allafrca games 2019. Besides I hope you remember that the Cairo 91 allafrca games team gave us part of our golden generation like tijani babangida, Emmanuel ammunike etc |
charlesemeka85:Now I will talk. We need to watch out for the last all Africa games u20 team and the last u20 that did not qualify from Africa. They have given us adewale adewoye (the new Patrick viera) and Chinonso Emeka who are in Genk and now Samuel Nnoshiri. Their set is really coming up. They are a talented generation. |
phemmyfour:LATVIA HAS A VERY GOOD ECONOMY AND SO PLAYING THERE WILL MAKE ONE A COMFORTABLE LIVING. EVEN ESTONIA'S ECONOMY IS GOOD AND PLAYING THERE WILL EARN A FOOTBALLER A DECENT LIVING Playing in the Nigerian league on the other hand will leave a Nigerian player poor and with nothing to fall back on after he retires. Sometimes, they are not paid for months. Those so called small countries have good transport system, a good and fast growing economy e.t.c NIGERIAN FOOTBALLERS NEED MONEY AND WILL GO WHERE SOMEONE WILL TAKE CARE OF THEM TELL NFF TO REFORM OUR LEAGUE ALSO TELL NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT TO BUILD A BETTER ECONOMY. |
Samueltemi337:When will look man's switch to Nigeria be ready. Something is wrong somewhere |
Kog45:It's his CV or profile. He has played in Portugal, Spain, england and Turkey. He has also played well in the English league for stoke and so he is used to English football. I mean that is decent. |
charlesemeka85:Watford seems to have fallen in love with Nigerian players |
Oldboss:npfl players are too raw to pick up and work on. Rohr is allready picking and working on raw talent. Maduka Okoye is an example. He picked him up from division 4 in Germany. Europe based players are easy to refine because they are allready in a condusive environment. There are many players based in Europe that Rohr can easily turn to world class and market them to a top 5 league. Rohr also did well for Samuel Kalu and made sure he stated in Bordeaux. Rohr should concentrate on players like kelechi Nwakali, Obinna Nwobodo, Muazum etc and see how he can make something out of them. There is hope for such players. Products of our youth teams still have a lot of hope. Adewole oladoye in particular may be world class very soon as he had a sensational debut for Gent Abbass idris who just broke into a team in portugal is there e.t.c Again i repeat, home based players are too raw to refine. To refine a home based player takes at least 2 years and those obscure leagues are doing the job for us as they can move on from there to better leagues in Europe. NPFL PLAYERS ARE SIMPLY NOT READY THE PROBLEM IS THEY ARE LOST IN THE NOSTALGIA OF THE PAST Anayo Iwuala is not George Finidi of Segun Odegbami and Sety Mayi is not Austin Okocha that played for Rangers. The npfl players of the present just cannot cut it easily. Stop living in the past. Rather try and improve the league and things will fall in place. Stop looking at these players with the eye of the 90's our league has sunk very low. STOP LIVING IN THE PAST |
WHY FOOTBALL ACADEMIES HAVE MORE TO OFFER THAN THE NIGERIAN LEAGUE PLAYERS Why academies outshine NPFL clubs in talents export – Agents ’Tosin Oluwalowo 30 July 2020 Nigerian football agents say the prospects of playing for top European sides is the major reason why a large number of the country’s up-and-coming prefer playing for academies to play for Nigerian leagues clubs. Football academies have been the latest exit point for Nigerian players seeking to join top European clubs, with Golden Eaglets captain to the 2019 U-17 World Cup in Brazil, Samson Tijani earlier this month sealing a lucrative move to Austrian champions, Red Bull Salzburg, from Lagos-based academy, Collins Edwin Sports Club. Super Eagles trio, Samuel Chukwueze, Wilfred Ndidi, and Kelechi Iheanacho sealed moves to big European clubs from local academies. While Chukwueze joined Spanish LaLiga side Villarreal from Umuahia-based Diamond Football Academy, Ndidi joined Belgian Pro League side, Genk, from Nath Boys Academy of Lagos, with Iheanacho moving directly to Manchester City from Taye Academy of Owerri. A look at the present Eagles squad shows that only Ahmed Musa, Oghenekaro Etebo and Daniel Akpeyi played in the local league before moving abroad. While the list of Nigerians who have joined big European clubs from little-known academies is on the rise, Nigeria Professional Football League clubs, the nation’s flagship professional league, has struggled to Import quality talents to Europe. Those who move usually find themselves in the backwater leagues in Europe. Some agents, who spoke with our correspondent, said Nigerian league clubs paraded too many old players and expensive, which puts off European scouts. “Most NPFL clubs don’t have quality young players; they rely on older players with experience. NPFL clubs also put big money on the players. When you place $1m or $500,000 on a player, the club which wants the player will want to see his quality and age. For them to invest money, the player must be young. You can’t place $1m on a player that is 29 years when the clubs can get younger players from the academies,” an agent, Marshal Mbre, told The PUNCH. Read Also NPFL clubs flout COVID-19 vaccination order, shun tests NPFL: Aikhoje wants stiffer sanctions against erring clubs COVID-19: NPFL clubs to test players before matches “Most NPFL coaches don’t take time to develop their players and teach them what they should know, because at a certain age, you can’t learn again. The clubs who claim they have feeder teams also place players who are relatives of government officials in the teams, they just keep them there to pay them allowances. I have gone to an NPFL club and the feeder team players are older than the first team players. They just take in players who are short and claim they are aged 15 or 16 when in fact they are older than the first team players,” he added. Another agent, Friday Kujah, stated, “Nigerian clubs pick players from academies and sign them on maybe a three-year deal, but when a foreign club shows interest in the player, they demand for between $300,000 and $1m. Nigerian league clubs are only using the players as personal properties and an avenue to make money. “Academy owners are ready to invest in players and train them to bring the best out of them but when NPFL clubs hear a player has trained, they will start making demands from the clubs.” Sunshine Stars chairman, Tajudeen Akinyemi, said NPFL clubs’ penchant for old players made it difficult for them to export talents to Europe’s top sides. “When the likes of Daniel Amokachi, Finidi George, Mutiu Adepoju left for European leagues, they left from our local league. But presently things are not working like they used to be, we are lucky that we still have academies that are producing talents,” Akinyemi told The PUNCH. “I once asked a player who came for trials in Sunshine his age and he replied me, ‘are asking for my football age or real age, sir?’ The difference between his real age and football age was nine years. So, clubs must ensure they recruit players who are really young, not old ones with fake ages. This is where we got it wrong; we must find a solution to this type of thing. And if we don’t do it, the NPFL will have a lot of problems.” Copyright PUNCH. https://punchng.com/why-academies-outshine-npfl-clubs-in-talents-export-agents/ |
They need to perform brain surgery on npfl coaches. They do not teach their players ANYTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL. npfl players have zero knowledge of football tactics and do not play with their brain. maybe coaches should have some level of certification before they are allowed to coach. It seems any tom, dick and Harry can coach in Nigeria. From what I know if a player is not educated in modern football tactics by the age of 21 it becomes difficult to change. This is what is happening to npfl guys. It may be those above 21 simply cannot be trained again as they are set in their ways. The ignorance is irritating. This is why they will fail trails in Europe. Even the players need reorientation and brain surgery. They are a product of horrible coaching. I am tired. |

GOING TO OBSCURE LEAGUES JUST WHEN PINNICK SPOKE AGAINST IT http://www.brila.net/ovoke-ndala-and-babawo-close-to-joining-armenian-club-saven-fc/ Plateau United FC trio, Bernard Ovoke, Issah N. The trio jet out of the country on Saturday to finalize their transfer to the club country ahead of the 2021-2022 campaign. |
JohnBullMySon:Abeg na the Atlanta 96 style I dey talk. Also the u17 of iheanacho set. These boys have finished embarrassing us. I don tire for npfl guys |
We will equalize and win the match |
Ppogbae:Actually the North African league is better than all these obscure leagues in Europe like Latvia, Lithuania etc. You don't expect an Alhaly or zamalek player to head to Latvia; that will be rubbish. Even the Nigerian league is better than these nonsense backwater leagues in Europe. I read the speech online and Amaju promised that henceforth the nff will monitor their transfers and will not let Agents exploit them and send them anywhere. That was a fantastic speech |
BascoVanVeli:Stop allowing the White man to deceive you. If nwakali went to the world cup he would have collected the midfield from Lucas modric. He could also have dominated Argentina in midfield. He may have some "tactical deficiency" like not marking but there is no perfect player. The way black origin players are treated is wicked. Nwakali contribution in midfield will have gotten us out of the group stage while the white man is saying he is not good enough. 2 years from now he will have improved and he will get a good team but we do not have to wait till that time. European s can be funny. Let us just express our African style and we will be okay |
JohnBullMySon:Let them dance with the ball, dribble and attack. Better to loose 5 2 than a one nill loss. Guardiola philosophy of attacking football comes to mind. If the express themselves good teams will come for them park the bus won't help them in the long run. They should play their normal game without fear and dance with the ball. |
maidaboi:It shows our football academies are doing something impressive. Generally our football is improving. It was horrible 7 years ago when nobody wanted our players and they end up in obscure leagues like Finland. |
