I wonder what Nairalanders will say if tomorrow's headline reads " Adeboye condems APC" or Adeboye says "PDP is evil". Politics has no rule, it's more or less a game of personal opinions. I don't expect Adeboye to tell me which political party to vote for in the comming election. It's great to speak loud and clear but it's a greater wisdom to know when to keep silent. He leads a church with members that have diverse political ideologies. |
By this singular action your past sins are forgiven, you are hereby welcome into the congregation of the "progressives". Nigeria don suffer, see people that promise to be better than PDP ![]() |
I've deliberately stayed away from this debate since the incidence occurred but let me now express what I understand. It's unfortunate that both Nigeria and Britain are trying to deny ownership of what clearly belong to both countries. Since I was born, I've never heard of a Yoruba person involved in terrorism either at home or in a foreignland. What then must have prompte these young men to do what they did if not the environment they found themselves. I can categorically state that if we go by precedents, if these two were to have grown up in Lagos, they most probably wouldn't have done what they did so Britain should take their fair share of the blame. Secondly, I am equally amazed how my fellow Nairalanders want to distant themselves from "one of our own". Fews months ago we had a thread here that celebrated Hollywood actors and actress with Nigerian names. Nobody raise an issue then that these actors most probably have never been to Nigeria. Each ethnic ethnic felt so proud in naming their "reps" in Hollywood, why can't we see these one as "our reps" in terrorism except if we are hypocites. No matter how Britain and Nigeria try to play blame game, every rational mind knows the two countries contributed in winning this "terrorism medal" together. |
This brings the Niger Bridge to my mind, I hope something is done about the 2nd Niger bridge on time before it becomes late. |
HARDDON: total thrash! it is only an illitrate/those that havent used their product in time past that would hail any ish they are into! It's actually very easy to complain of inefficiency but as far as I know there are over 50 brands of computer in the market and am sure it's not all of them you can download their drivers online. Have you ever been to their office to complain or made a call for enquiries and what was their response? Am asking because I've been to their Gbagada office once and what you just wrote is different from the experiance I had. |
I wish God will show Mohammed wherever he is what the religion he created has turned the world into. Now the whole world is in crises because of his Jihad ideology he left behind. |
kalan: Its really funny and easy to see. Lets use Costain as a case study to learn how toI love this Sir, please I ask for more. |
Uranium exploration factory in Niger Republic? No wonder it's so easy for Boko Haram to make bombs. I can even now better understand why many of the Boko members may not be Nigerians, imagine the Niger republic Governor bears Hausa name? |
One Oga at the top stole Billions of naira and got a bail for #750,000 from a PDP controlled Judiciary. 7 able bodied men stole a goat worth #10,000 and got a bail for #350,000 from an ACN controlled judiciary. Can someone tell me why I shouldn't consider our Judiciary the errand boy of the political parties? What a paradox of justice! |
Ufeolorun: Typical pedestrian assessment of issues. We cannot boast of basic broadband internet in Nigeria while they just lunched 4g networks,do you know what that means,Mr. Nigeria? It sounds simplistic but the possibilities are enormous .Mtn after `10 years in Nigeria isn't even thinking of laying any broadband line or fibre optics cables cos we have failed woefully to tap the core technical skills these people have built over years by any means possible. They are basically using the Nigeria operation as a cash cow in their business portfolio to fund other expansions else where, with mindset like yours it will only continue.Go check out what Vodacom/vodafone is doing with former Ghana telecom, where is Nitel? mr.Nigeria.You are a typical example of what the guy is saying; always looking for reasons to talk down the country. I've been using 4G network for upto 2yrs here in Lagos. Have you not heard of Main-one broadband cable layed all the way from Europe and launched about 3years ago? People like you need to change your orientations. Nigeria needs investments and development wherever it can come from whether from Congo or Korea but that shouldn't be an excuse to see the country like an 18th century local community. |
See BMW giving reasons why they can't invest in Nigeria but will want to turn us to a dumping ground. Funny enough some Nigerians wouldn't want to support the growth of Innoson who took the risk to invest in the so called "risky environment". |
About a month ago the world focused on Nigeria because of Achebe, now we shall once again be the focus of the world because someone memorised so much of Quaran and lost his senses. Who knows, he may be a Niralander ![]() |
This should be at the front page, many of us here were under-aged during the last exercise ![]() |
How come he was shot dead, did he resist arrest? I thought this kind of reaction by police happens only in developing countries. This must be a new strategy by the terrorists. |
otokx: Fashola and Rochas are really fighting for the first price in strange behaviors. Both of them are running head to head. Very soon they'll start arresting anyone who didn't go to church on Sunday. |
ArQueBusieR: Dude, we're talking about terrorists here. They're not normal people. Lincoln didn't fight Al'Qaeda, Haqqani or the Taliban. It's my opinion for now, but in as much as I fully support SOE, ultimately, dialogue could provide a better result. America says they don't dialogue with terrorists and a decade after, the war is still on. It's left for us to either go that same way or fashion a home-grown solution that fits us better. Based on our experience, even if Shekau is killed today it may not be the end of the war. |
A part of me tries to see this as a shocker that shouldn't happen but I am tempted to go with the presidency in this (if it's true). What am not too sure of is if this is coming too early. let's remember that SOE is a means to an end and not the end itself. While it's easy to get sentimental and wish all Boko Haram members dead, I think this is a good strategy where the two doors are open; dialogue and military force, it's left for each member to choose where he wishes to belong. Moreso, considering the North-South divide in this country, it could be another opportunity to prove the gainsayers wrong who think the South has gone to war againt the north. Our ultimate target is not just a temporary peace in this country but peace that will last and to me this isn't a too hard price to pay for it. Military force alone hasn't ended violence in Iraq and Afghanistan, infact our Niger-Delta is more peaceful than both countries today. In times like this I remember this golden letter by one of the World's greatest leaders when he was faced with this similar situation in his country; a civil war in America. "I have examined personally all the papers in the Lyons case, and I see that it is a matter for executive interference. So I turn it over to you with full confidence that you will do what is just and right; only begging you, my dear General, to do nothing in reprisal for the past- only what is necessary to ensure security for the future and remind you that we are not fighting against a foreign foe, but our brothers, and that our aim is not to break their spirit but only to bring back their old allegiance. Conquer by kindness- let that be our policy. Very truely yours, Abraham Lincoln." |
Don't mind them. Counterinsurgency is not won by dishing out improbable stories. The same people that announced days ago that boko haram are all on the run are now saying 120 gathered in one place! Counter-insurgency is a long-haul operation that can last years and years - Americans went to Afghanistan with bravado and 10 years on they cannot even secure Kabul. These boko haram that they claim have fled to neighbouring countries can continue their activities for a very long time. If this war drags on as seems likely it's the soldiers that will get frustrated and in that state escalate atrocities against innocent civilians, which will further worsen things for them. Military force has its limitations. This conflict can never be resolved by military means alone.
After your long sermon you couldn't ever offer a single solution. Why not tell us which way will be better than this military solution rather than writing a long lamentation? |
fxisreal: bro what is your objectives behind entering this stock that has proved over 80% for we that enter it few week ago, it shed weight today sha. stockbull: not agreeing to making an entry in courtville but rather get out of the stock if you're lucky to've made huge gains.their business look good at the moment considering autoreg and others but the price was pumped and there's no traces of demands to justify the trend, infact, the stock was difficult to buy as said by investors and for a stock at a nominal price either it has been up before or not,it should not have appeared the way i've seen it.they only manipulate to attract investors and it truly worked for them.now they are dumping and there's no confirmation yet that it's downtrend but it's advisable to sell to avoid DIFFICULTIESThanks plenty. |
Courtville has gained so much so soon, is it still ideal to enter it at the current rate? |
Double post |
With the rate things are going it's just a matter of time before all psychiatric hospitals will be closed because everyman will strive to become mad and insanity shall become fashionable and an evidence of civilisation. Those who shall strive to maintain sanity will be scorned by the insanes and seen as uncivilised. What a shame! |
stockbull: okomu oil will go flat for days after this month and only long term investors can benefit from the profits of this company henceforth.the shorts may get their capital locked up.I don't like this news, hope it'll be after they've paid the bonus? |
Pipsland78: I think they should accept the amnesty right away and the government should consider forgiving them because they are humans like us.Malam Shekau hasn't seen network to call the govt for pardon, he hasn't even been able to upload his usual Youtube bragging videos. Am afraid, the door of mercy has been shut. |
Sincere 9gerian: The deputy president of the senate, Ike Ekweremadu, just reminded us of some of the unfortunate events of the past. He said OBJ promised during political campaigns to transform the Enugu Airport to an international Airport. But after the elections they met with OBJ and asked for fulfilment of that promise. OBJ gave them the shock of their life when he said "it was all politics".I wasn't surprised when I heard it, it's the same way he layed the foundation for a non-existing 2nd Niger Bridge. Thank God that era is now history. |
And these are the people ACN and CPC want the FG to just sit down and wait for them to come to dialogue table? God's speed to the Military. |
Let's see if they'll declare Jihad after today's Jumat service. I suggest all mosques in the affected states should be keely watched because that's where they could start their retaliations from. Kudos to the Military. |
saintneo: Thanks a lot for your response. Your response is inline with one of my questions as quoted below. What happened to Okomu is a normal thing in the market for stocks that declared dividends and bonus. It happened to Mobil on May 2nd 2012 and to NAHCO on May 14th 2012. |
Very informative -Section 138 states that: The President shall not, during his tenure of office, hold any other executive office or paid employment in any capacity whatsoever.Pls can anybody who understands better explain the above statement because I remember that OBJ was also the Minister of Petroleum at a point in time when he was a president. As for Section 140, we have this: 140. (1) A person elected to the office of President shall not begin to perform the functions of that office until he has declared his assets and liabilities as prescribed in this Constitution and he has taken and subscribed the Oath of Allegiance and the oath of office prescribed in the Seventh Schedule to this Constitution. So constitutionally, it's not compulsory to make such declarations public?...No wonder uncle Jonah didn't give a damn ![]() |
May God forgive me for once celebrating this man, how ignorant I was. What a history he has left behind for his generations. |
I only have these little advice for you. 1. The title of this thread is wrong; men want to marry you but the ones coming are not as comfortable as you expect. 2. You are 31 already meaning that most likely you will expect men of around 35 to approach you for marriage. Am afraid because by your standard, majority of men of that age who are as comfortable as you expect are most likely married. I therefore suggest you trade off some of your standards which many people here have identified as a possible problem. I don't think it'll be a crime to use your resources help anyone of the present suitors come up to your standard since you can afford it, it takes two to tango. 3. Am yet to hear of a man who met his wife in a night club, I might be wrong but I think you are looking at the wrong place. Be social but mind where you socialise. 4. Pardon me to further say that you need to first give your life to God after which you can now boldly ASK GOD FOR YOUR RIGHT. Changing churches wouldn't be the end point which is exactly what your action seems to suggest. I don't think there is a relationship between attending Winners and still going to night clubs; set you priorities right. seek God for who he is and not for what he can give. Someone who has an eye on you on Sunday in your beautiful sunday dress but sees you in the usual nightclub dress on Friday will take you to be hypocrite. 5. Finally, your first story here gave a wrong impression of yourself which you have tried to clarify. Therefore I also suggest you make sure you are not giving people a wrong impression of yourself in real life by your comments and lifestyle. It's said that first impression lasts longer, you may not have a second chance to clarify yourself after such impressions. Best of luck in your search! |
