Business / Re: How I&E Forex Window Buoyed Naira Stability With $50bn Inflows by pimper24: 6:40am On Mar 07, 2019
rentAcock:
You know when President Buhari said he will reduce the exchange rate of dollar from N150/$ to N1/$1 people thought he was delusional. Well he didn't let us know that it will be a task that requires 8years at the helm. Dollar shot up to over N520/$ and people started voicing their frustrations which is understandable, but he has stabilized the rate to N360/$ for two years now at the dismay of speculators. I strongly believe that before the end of his 2nd term, Naira will be 50Kobo/$1, that's not a typo, you read that right, naira will be stronger than the dollar as it was in 1985 when my father used to travel to conventions in Las Vegas and partied like the King of Zamunda. When the white men would open the door of his taxi, pick up his suit cases and ferry him to his delux room. The naira was so strong, my dad will eat king crab legs, drink to his heart fillings and still have change to tip the pretty white bartenders. Although he never gambled, he always enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas. My dad told me several stories and they all had a common theme, 1970s and early 1980s Nigerians were highly sought after by the white man because our currency was strong and we were a thriving nation. This anecdote isn't about my father or am i trying to brag about anything, he was a common man with a currency far stronger than the Dollar and Pounds sterling. While I will never forget the tales of my father, I will also never forget that in 1994 Rashidi Yekini became the first Nigerian to score in the World Cup tournament where we defeated Bulgaria 3-0.
are you for real shocked which school did you attend . Chai

Am disappointed in opc.. they should caution their members against attacking law abiding citizens residing peacefully in their own country and carrying out their civic responsibilities. Never in history of the world have i read or heard that individuals will be threatened at gunpoint to vote candidates that are not their choice in an election.even to the extent of actually killing them for voting their choice candidate, like the case of peter at okota. we are not savages. Politics / Re: Video Of Hausa-fulani Beggar: Matters Arising by pimper24: 7:32pm On Mar 01, 2019
Corrinthians:
I would cut straight to the chase here because I have never felt so appalled by such brazen display of HATE in my whole life.

The 2019 elections have come and gone, and expectedly, there are the victors and the losers, and those whose mighty egos have been bruised, somewhat irreparably. Unfortunately, those who pride themselves as the beacons of literacy and civility have been the ones displaying the worst signs of barbarism and illiteracy.

A video has emerged of a guy, presumably an Atiku/Obi supporter, rebuffing a beggar who approached him, simply because the beggar is of Northern origin! More surprising than the brazen display of hate towards a destitute, are the comments which have trailed the video, especially on this forum. To those who seem to applaud the callous and shameful display of RAW HATE, the beggar deserves it because they aided the reelection of Buhari.

Now, the following questions arise, and these are questions a human with the heart and brain of a human, should ask themselves.

1. Majority of those who claim the election was a sham and that the actual winner is Atiku/obi, what more evidence does one need to prove they dont believe themselves when they say that?

If indeed you believe Atiku/obi won the election, isnt it then likely that AT LEAST 40% of those northerners voted them? We are talking about millions of people here. Allow that sink for a moment.

Therefore, if millions of those people did vote Atiku/obi, then, chances are there's a healthy probably that person towards whom you are directing your hate actually voted the same candidate you voted!!! How then do you justify your HATE for him?? Can you see how hate blinds reason?

2. If you claim Atiku/obi won but rigged out, what exactly concerns a beggar with rigging? Would someone who rigged an election be on the streets bagging? Do you think any of those people seen in those disgusting videos where folks were thumb printing rims after rims of ballot papers would have anything doing in the streets begging? Do the people you saw in those videos look anything like these beggars to you?

3. We take pride in our religion as Christians and those who are seen applauding the barbaric act are same folks who claim to be Christian's and speak of some phantom islamization agenda. Now, what I would like to ask is, what part of our religion encourage such acts of wickedness and hate? Isnt LOVE itself the greatest virtue of Christianity? Or is there some other brand of Christianity out there which we are oblivious of?

As a matter of fact, both frontline contenders to the office are from THE SAME REGION AND RELIGION, so why have we chosen to become so embittered by the loss of one of them? Or is the reaction born more out of Obi's defeat than it is Atiku's?

We thought we had seen it all as per the hate these folks are capable of after jonathan's loss, but from what we are seeing, it is instructive that we the good citizens of this country brave ourselves for the worse. Unfortunately, those pushing us to the precipice happen to be the most dispersed people across this country. There is hardly any corner of the country where you dont find their kith and kin doing business. What then do they think would be the fate of their loved ones if shiit hits the fan? What exactly is there to gain from this show of shame?

The APC endured opposition for sixteen long years under which period they suffered needless damages and oppression by agents of the state. We never saw them demonstrate such vileness. Why then is it so difficult for the pdp and her supporters to stomach just FIVE YEARS of opposition? Had the supporters of APC acted the way we see these guys act today, would there really be any country left to scramble over today? What is there to gain from burning down a country to whose leadership you aspire? Are you planning on ruling over her ashes?

I think it is time the government of the day uses all the resources within her powers, especially with the incoming NASS, to bring some sanity into the social media space before it consumes the country. China is doing it and heavens have yet to fall!!! As a matter of fact, one is tempted to think Nigerians aren't civilised enough to have access to social media if the things we see there every day is anything to go by. Ironically, the people who boast of being civilised are the ones pushing the boundaries of hate on the internet!

There should be a clampdown on those propagating hate in whichever form. If they can't learn to accept defeat like civilised humans do, then they should have no business having their inflammable opinions broadcasted to the general public. Let them keep that pollution to their nuclear families. angry angry

Thank you.
There's something you guys don't realize about begging amongst the Hausas/ Fulanis. Begging is not necessarily as a result of poverty. It is taken as a normal way of earning livelihood. So if you don't want to give their beggars money, you have not committed any offense. But if you deprive them of their begging trade, you have sacked someone from his lehlgitimate means of livelihood.

Technology Market / LG TV And Screen Pranks by pimper24: 8:54am On Feb 16, 2019
It's worrisome that Nigeria is a place where any person comes and does whatever he likes in the name of business.
This is the second time my LG TV screen is breaking and all they said at the service station is that they could only fix it at a price close to buying a new one.
Secondly, did anyone notice how very weak the screens of their flat-screen TVs are? I think these things are deliberate. In the olden days when the box TVs with "bottle" screens are used, Tv set could last 25 years, but not anymore. They make these ones very fragile just to have a dubious turn over. And worse still, these fake ones are mainly manufactured for African, nay, Nigerian markets.
If anyone is doubting me, raise your flat-screen up and press the screen consciously, just with your bare hands and not with any hard object, you will hear a Crack sound. If it's on, rainbow colours will shadow the screen. And that's the end of it because they will blandly ask you to buy another Tv instead of fixing the screed.
I then ask, what is the duty of regulatory body like Standards Organization of Nigeria? The citizens are ripped off with reckless abandon by these Lebanese, Chinese and Indians and we fold our hands and do nothing.

Crime / Re: Emmanuel And Annie: Cause Of Death Of Couple In Car A In Maryland, Lagos by pimper24: 1:18pm On Feb 11, 2019
Chelsea82:
In new reports, the cause of the deaths of a gentleman and a lady discovered inside a engine-running vehicle just might not be as a result of the car’s air conditioning system as had been speculated.

Following the discovery of the deceased identified as Creative Director, Image World Visuals, Emmanuel Chetan, and Annie Akhadelor, reports had had it that the both of them died in the car as a result of a mechanical fault from the car’s air conditioning system.

But in a new report, as investigations into their deaths were taken, it’s been discovered that they just might have died as a result of poisoned drinks.

It was gathered that Emmanuel and Annie were on their way back from the club and were just a stone-throw to Emmanuel’s house but he had stopped and parked his car in a space belonging to another resident who usually parks his car there.

This resident then confronted Emmanuel, asking him to move his car and according to him, Emmanuel said he would move it but he was feeling uncomfortable at the time and so when he felt better, he would move.
Emmanuel was to be discovered dead later after local authorities were consulted and had to force open the car, they found containers of the drinks they allegedly consumed.

As at the time of filing this report, the corpses of Emmanuel and Annie had been recovered and deposited in the hospital for autopsy...As seen on FB.

See more photos of the couple here.⤵

Education / Spending 6 Years To Sturdy law Is Not Fair by pimper24: 10:14pm On Feb 08, 2019
The Nigerian system is such that certain practices are just there because thats the way they have been.
I have researched and asked questions about the justifications for spending 5 years in the university and another one year at the law school just to qualify as a practicing Lawyer. More over if you are delving into thee academia, you are expected to bag a masters degree just to start. Haha, ladies nko.
I don't think it's like this in other parts of the world. Talk of the UK and USA. I know that in the US system, the Juris Doctor is even way beyond a masters degree.
If you study Law for 3 years in the UK, you can come and spend just one year at the law school in Nigeria and you are qualified as the man that spent 6 years.
It also beats my imagination why the law school cannot be regarded as a degree awarding institution in a way that all those reading with tears (as I did during our days) will be on Masters degree . This way, you don't need a separate masters after Law school. I think the system here is wack.

Religion / Pacing The Room: A Spiritual Exercise I Found Very Rewarding by pimper24: 4:21am On Jan 21, 2019
Praying while pacing up and down the room is a typical prayer pattern by some pentecostal worshippers. This prayer style has been found to be physically and spiritually rewarding.
I have personally discovered that while enriching my spirit I also cover several kilometers distance calculating several steps I make in this manner.
If I am not strong or in the mood to pray, I could pick a Christian song or chant the blood of Jesus at intervals while on the move.
Doing this alone for a while provokes the spirit in a way that you may see yourself bursting out in tongues.
I found this quite rewarding and decide to share it with believers.

Crime / Re: Asp John Joshua Abandoned over N2.5M Surgery since 2017 by pimper24: 7:36am On Jan 17, 2019
olushowunm:
Patrol Commander John Joshua, Assistant Superintendent of Police attached to Ajao Estate Police Station Lagos State, lost his eyesight while attempting to stop over 500 angry Factory workers who were looting the warehouse of Chi Industries Ltd. The company made a distress call for Police intervention & protection. They claims that they were been attacked by Hoodlums, which can be seen as deception on the part of the management. This event took place on December 31, 2016. A day that should be a preparatory day for the New Year for ASP and his family but turn into day of regret, sadness and anguish for the family. He got injured in the process of keeping the citizens and businesses safe as he was attacked by angry Factory workers who have taken strategic positions in the warehouse, with plan to attack them. As they entered into the company’s premises to maintain law and order, the workers charged and attacked him with Caustic soda missiles which was poured over his head and as such affected his eyes. He was rushed to hospital and since that time have been left to die.

According to Summit Healthcare Hospital Ltd. (Eyes Foundation), he will need about N2.5million to do another set of surgeries (Invoice attached), this was in 2017, after expending his life savings and his family's goodwill on the earlier treatment. When he was told about the surgery and how much it would cost, he had felt sure that the company, which he lost his eye sights fighting for would come to his rescue.
Joshua’s staunch trust, however took a devastating blow. CHI Limited was not forthcoming as the ASP had expected. According to him, till date, the company had abandoned him to his fate. Joshua, almost in tears said that he couldn’t imagine groping in darkness for the rest of his life. Speaking with our correspondence in his house, Joshua said that CHI Limited, promised to take care of his eyes treatment. Joshua said that doctors had advised that the operation should be carried out immediately so that his eyes wouldn’t degenerate retrogressively into complete blindness.
He said “Right now, I’m slowly going blind. And if the eye surgery continued to be delayed, my two eyes would undergo retrogressive degeneration or I may completely go blind”.

He was left with nothing as Police and Chi Nigeria Ltd., have abandoned him to his fate and none has come up with anything to help his condition. Is this the country of our dreams? Where we seek law enforcement officers to risk their lives for our sake? Who will read this kind of pathetic story about the system and still put his bet to save us all. Two years gone and no help in sights. This man is now having difficult in fulfilling his fatherly duties as he also a widower, all because of one silly incident that Nigeria Police Force HQ and Chi Nigeria Ltd., refused to take responsibility for his wellness. ASP Joshua is not even asking for compensation, just for them to take care of his eyesight before he goes totally blind.

ASP Joshua was in tears as he narrates his plight in the hands of Nigeria Police Force and Chi. He even went as far to bring in Femi Falana, the popular human rights activist-cum-lawyer into the matter, he was appointed a lawyer to take care of the case but he suspected that Lawyer was compromised by Chi as he stopped picking his calls for updates on the case. He also went to Office of Public Defender just to ask for his rights too but none is forthcoming.
I write this today to intimate you of the rots and decay that corruption have bestowed on our institutions. We are in trouble because the Nigeria of our dream might never come in our lifetime or our children's if we keep valuing money over lives.

I appeal to all those concerned too take up responsibility and give this man his eyesight again.

Romance / She Comes Begging For Money by pimper24: 2:26am On Jan 10, 2019
We were colleagues but she later got married and left our organization. We remained friends nevertheless.
It happened that one evening while we were talking and discussing exchanging pleasantries after she called as usual to ask about her former office , I heard her scream aloud and a male voice shouted at her severally before the phone cut off.
Minutes after that she called again.

As I picked same male voice was speaking with serious anger, "I am Lucy's husband. Please do me a favor, don't ever discuss with my wife again. I am warning you for the last time" . Then the phone went dead again.
I didn't do anything than to maintain my cool as its his words against mine.
2 days later , same number called but this time Lucy had called to apologize. "Don't mine my husband. That's what he has been doing to all my male friends bla bla". I said no problem but determined not to relate with her again in any way.

It's been a while, few days ago, she called with a strange number begging that she's very sick and needs assistance that she's been in the village for a while now, that the husband is out of job.
I'm wondering if I should assist

Family / Advise Needed For My Son by pimper24: 6:31pm On Jan 08, 2019
I am a very busy man. During this holiday, I paused to ask these simple questions to my son who in nursery 2 and will turn 4 in a fortnight

"how old are you?",
"what class are you in?",
"whats the name of your school?",
"whats your mum/ dad's name?".

To these, no reasonable answer was given. I am presently having serious issues with my wife because of this.
Though my son was a bit delayed in development of some motor skills like making sentences while talking but he has greatly improved with time, but I was thinking his school would have helped much in pushing this.

The questions I stated above are almost always what children of nursery range start with. I had always wanted to change him from his school but my wife objected to it saying he needs time.

I thought of autism initially which concern i posted in this forum and also consulted experts that told me there would be no need to bother.

The boy is doing well in other areas, so energetic and exhibits great intelligence. He has also started expressing himself appreciably well, albeit the little shock i stated above.

Could this be a sign of learning disability or do i still go ahead for the evaluation. Again, do i also go ahead and enroll him in another school?

I am in a big shock!
