Try that in a normal country and see if you'll win. It is only in a God forsaken country like Nigeria that things like this happen. What is funny is after he wins the election, they'll start to complain about poor performance but forget that they forgot to ask question.

I met this cute and humble guy & we clicked. It was love at first sight I guess grin ..each day our love grows & our phones are like on fire all the time when we chat or we call each other.
But our differences separated us twice undecided
I blocked him thinking I can move on with my life without him but I was wrong! Everyday I miss him and been longing for him. I never moved on actually embarassed
After many wks I decided to unblocked him and was so surprised one day I got a msg from him on whatsapp asking me why I unblocked him? I told him I can't move on and I miss him so much & I want us to fix it for one more time but he declined & said tat he can't have me anymore & we better off as friends undecided cry
Although we chat/call everyday & he even told me how much he loves me but every time I asked him if we cud fix our relationship., he will either ignore my question or he will juz say I'm his friend...

Do u think he friendzoned me coz he's already dating someone else or he is juz scared to be in a relationship? embarassed
Best to move on. I remember how my first love discharged me a long time ago. I thought i was going to die, or kill someone. Whichever comes first. Now i look back and laugh. Ain't nothing you can throw at the heart that the heart can't take. All it takes is time.

So this is the vaunted understanding of individual liberties, freedoms and rights that makes you feel everyone who does not share it resides in the absence of all light undecided.

How does the topic of the OP harm you? Why is incest wrong?
Is individual harm to you the only thing you could come up with? What about a "social cost", which burdens the collective, is that not a consideration undecided?

Straight to false equivalence, I actually hoped, secretly wanted there to be something more. My bad.

Because I don't feel deviant behaviour should be normalised or taught to children as such, or people forcibly made to consider it morally good and celebrate it - when it it is unequivocally deleterious for society - makes me a terrorist, wanting to kill others undecided

Which belief have I sought to impose? I have taken a well reasoned position that same sex intimacy is at best dysfunctional and should not be normalised. Likewise other forms of deviant sexual behaviour, of which there is a long list. Outside that, how they abuse themselves is down to them.

I clearly stated this behaviour has been at the best on the periphery of all societies throughout all time and you make a statement suggesting I did not know it had been extant since the dawn of time undecided

I should read up? undecided. What has anything that has been said that suggested crusades or an inquisition. Do you consider histrionics a discussion tool? undecided grin

I should read up?
What was the genesis of the crusades? How many died? The crusades where primarily a defensive reaction to marauding Islamic bloodletting. They were not expansionary be it in an imperial or religious sense. And the bloodletting that continues till this day. There has been a wholesale unabated genocide of Christians in the middle east. Have you the faintest of clues? undecided

And I note your sly support for ISIS. You are the type of terrorist sympathiser the West could do without. Please return home as soon as your visa expires grin

Was Hitler a Christian. He was a humanist, only such believe in racial supremacy. So, your charter of rights is that everyone is free to do whatever, as to take collective moral positions makes one a terrorist, crusader, or Hitlerian grin.

Coco has already started to drop her absurdly reductionist one liners which stymie, rather than lend nuance to a discussion.

It is utterly embarrassing that this simple concept of rights, liberties and freedom is so difficult for most people to understand. How hard is this to comprehend? The issue is not whether i approve of homosexuality, incest, etc, but the right of people to do whatever they want as long as it does not harm another person or hinder other peoples rights, or against the law. We cannot all be the same. It is just not possible. We cannot like everyone we see or know. What separates us from Animals is our ability to co exist despite our differences. Who made you judge jury and executioner. Trying to make someone conform to your beliefs has been proven by history to be disastrous. Why is this so difficult to understand for God's sake? Imagine a world where let's say someone like Muhammed had force everyone to be muslim, how would that have worked out for you? How would it have been if the crusaders had made everyone christian? I'm pretty sure you are against it depending on what religion you follow. So, if you are against that, then why would you want to force yours on another person? No one seems to be able to answer that question.

Logic is foreign to you.

If people will commit crimes in the absence of law enforcement, what do we need morality for?

A sound level of morality makes people do the right thing even if no punishment is expected. This is what morality and conscience are for.

But the average Nigerian's morality is at the level of a three-year-old: I will do anything if I can do away with it.
Not: I will do what is right because my moral development extends that of a baboon.

And you have the guts to feel morally superior to Westerners. grin

Maybe it would help if you could briefly state what this charter of rights and freedoms should contain - at a minimum. And then explain how the sexual behaviour which all societies - until very recently - across all time have universally seen as destructive and immoral, suddenly becomes something that is mainstreamed and forcebly celebrated. What exactly was it that the enlightened who champion this know now, that was hidden from men all this time?

You are missing the point. Personally, i believe that sex between two people of the same gender is absolutely disgusting but that is not the issue. The issue is, because i don't like it, does that mean people should not be free to do what they want as long as it does not harm me? Do you know why terrorists do what they do? Because they believe that they are right and you are wrong. Your way of life is abnormal. So, by your logic, since they believe that, then it is ok for them to kill you, right? Just because you believe their way is wrong does not mean you can impose your beliefs on them. And you might want to brush up on your history. Homosexuality has been in existence since the dawn of time. Look up greece, the Roman empire, france, and most arab countries etc. The only reason everyone is so aware of it now is because of the internet. You can't say because you don't like something you can then shackle someone else. This is why Africa is so backwards. There are many people i don't like i work with but i have to work with them and be civil. If we all all acted on our pre dispositions, this planet would be destroyed. Read up on the spanish inquisition and the crusade and you will understand why it is not a good idea to impose your beliefs on other people. What christians did then would make ISIS members look like kindergarten kids today. While you are at it, read up on Hitler and his reasons for killing six million jews. His thought process was no different from yours.

@bold is what really pisses me off. Like we are in some sort of childish competition with other countries (I.e the west). Your house is burning and you're gloating over your neighbor's house with the leaky roof. Pfft. undecided

I know for a fact that western countries do a better job protecting their children than we do. They don't kill them for being witches, marry them off at 11 or send off to labor in exchange for meals and basic education. I've even seen where molested children are blamed for it. With the common saying that children of nowadays are more exposed than before. Thereby implying that it's okay to sleep with underage children because they asked for it. So many appalling things that shouldn't happen to any kid alive happens to kids in Nigeria frequently and someone is here mentioning me over possible legalized pedophilia in the western future. Meanwhile it's already legal in his country.

5mins pls let this be the last time you mention me over this issue. It's annoying honestly.
If i understand you correctly, you mean while in Nigeria, your views on gay relationships was amiable? If that is the case, then you are a better person than I. It took some serious reorientation in the true meaning of freedom and rights for me to really understand. This is why i understand how they think because i used to think like that. You must have come from a well groomed environment which affected your mentality. The vast majority of Nigerians, because of societal upbringing and norms have serious issues they are not aware of. I wasn't aware of it till i was exposed to something better.

Instead of worrying about future pedophilia in the west , why not focus on its presence in your own country? Alive and kicking and happening every second.

Crying more than the bereaved. Are we?

I swear most Nigerians are ridiculous. (Including you) Is the focus on the west supposed to relieve you of the bad feelings that come with the horrible things that happen in your own country? Where humans are burned alive on the streets and unprintable things are done by those who have a little power over others. Like girls being stripped and flogged on video by men.

Why are you (and indeed many Nigerians) addicted to masturbating over whatever you perceive to be bad news coming out of 'the west'. When you have a millions of it living with you and you're existing just fine.
It's a trend but I don't know what to call. Like some hidden way to gloat over a country to make you feel better about yours. When you should be doing is working on your own country so that you have genuine reason to feel better about it.

Cc pippimp. See the west bashing thing I was telling you about. This section is like hub of it.
Believe it or not, i completely understand the way 5minsmadness is thinking because i used to think like that. Nigerians have a level of ignorance and bitterness unparalleled. Back in Nigeria, i thought my way of thinking was normal and everyone else was crazy. I never took the time to consider that if my way was normal and i had other like minded people thinking the same way, then my surroundings would be fine. I mean, i was thinking like a normal human being right? The economy would be fine, people wouldn't be burned in the streets on a daily basis, there wouldn't be trash littering every nook and cranny, policemen wouldn't be standing confidently in public collecting bribe like that was there job, etc. Nigerians don't want to understand that every country has issues and it is the magnitude and frequency of the issues that matters. What also matters is how you manage it as a people. Nigerians don't have a clue what their issues are or how to go about solving them but are quick to point out the perceived fault in others. They are a true example of the saying, "misery likes company". Since they are so depressed and unhappy, they are always on the lookout for the worst news to come of countries like the U.S.A, so they can say "ehen, i talk am. See wetin dem don do too". People like him don't understand that the solution to their problem is exposure. Once they can have access to it, their perception will change. The problem is just how does one get them exposed.

Your problem is exposure. And that is the problem of millions of Nigerians. You guys just don't understand what your responsibilities are or what is expected of you. Thank your stars you crossed paths with me today. I will educate you. First, the government in normal countries, keyword here is "normal", will provide the drainage. This will also include maintaining it. They pay for it by taxing the citizens the drainage is meant for. They also ensure that they monitor it's use constantly. It is normal that people will throw trash in them because every single person, in every single country does that. It is expected. They help control it, with the help of the L.G, by ensuring they punish people who throw trash or build structures on it. In Germany, fines for throwing trash around go as high as one thousand Euro. In Nigeria's case, because of people like you who don't understand how things are done, you expect magic when it comes to maintenance. It doesn't work that way.
