Fact is she doesnt really meet up wt all those criteria.
Husband is late,no big bank balance,though she has a biz.

she has kids 4 kids that are doing good in nigeria and has really advanced in age.
My plan is just for her to help me with my new baby,the cultural two/three months thing wt the new born and go bak.i have no intention of her using her as a live nanny or make her overstay.

ummm, the most i can say is have your siblings in Naija strategise a way to show that she is comfortable there and will not abandon her abode . No mention of the three months thing . It should simply be I have a child that is having a baby I want to visit . The embassy grants two year visas as a standard. It is at the port of entry ( airport in the states ) that her allowed period of stay is determined and stamped in are I-94 . As long as she does not state a period over six months at that point she is fine. ( i am not advising she stays for six months o , if she does then it will be another six months before she can come in again)

some have been sponsored by their US citizen childern (I.e they have a green card) or they have established a pattern of leaving and coming over time. All said and done you granny is more likely to get a visa , than a 19-30 yr single person .

The major reasons I have heard for denial with older generation is

1. All children live abroad---no reason for the individual to return home
2. The individual interviews badly , i.e saying I am going to stay with my children ( visit is the operative word)
. 3. No proof of substantial ties to Nigeria ( husband , business , source of income)

yep visiting visa ,  you must prove strong ties to naija. being that you will be her financial sponsor while she is here , the biggest hurdle will be proving no immigrant intent

this may help:
Properties in her name or husbands name
Living Husband , especially if he has a business or is still gainfully employed
A good bank balance
a business that she runs
Other kids in Nigeria

Please ask her to clearly state that she is visiting her grandkids and daughter only for a specific period of time ( no more than a month please , or even two weeks ) . Please no mention of taking care of the kids.  the consular officers are well aware of the fact that we use our parents as live- in nannies and they often overstay their visas. every statement she makes should reinforce the fact that she is visiting and intends to return to her homebase

Single men above 37 are often the hardest to tie down in a relationship. If a man is above 35 and not married or on the way there with a serious relationship, thats usually a red flag .

That said there are , I know a few but again the ones I know are die hard bachelors . finding a naija man who has never had kids who is willing to marry any one above 35 ( even 30 in same cases) is not an easy venture .

Keep your options open is the best advice I can give , Mr right might be Mr I have been married before as well

The time frame you have stated is what i saw for the K3 visa which is the Marriage visa . The official time frame for the K-1 which is the fiancee visa is 2-6 months . I may be wrong just wanted to make sure there is no confusion in the difference b/w K-1 and K-3

Please dont let people scare you. The Consulate does not have the authority to withdraw  a petition on they don't just like your face basis , when the USCIS has approved it. They will only withdraw the pettition on the basis of fraud . I.e the relationship can not be proved or documents provided to the consular officer are fraudulent.

My advise is be able to show proof of the relationship . pictures from trips to see each other . if you dont have any , your case go tough o . i will advise postponing the case for sometime and making time to take such trips and pictures ( the biggest proof will be the stamps on your passports)

i think there is some confusion over the difference betewwen secondary school and high school .

Secondary school - 6 years then college

High School - 4 years then college

a freshman in high school in the UK will be transfered to JS3 in Nigeria .

9 in JS 3 means 7 in JS1 . I dont know about yall . But i know 7 year olds that still pee their pants. Please lets give kudos where it is due

for the naysayers High school is only 4 years before you enter college . So the Freshman year of high school is equivalent to JS 3 . Me i dont know many JS 3 students that are nine .

This is Nigeria, so don't be silly. Have you noticed how all the people who are talking of marrying wives on 19k and 2,5k are talking of by the grace of God by the grace of God? Is it by the grace of God alone you want to train your future kids, open your damn eyes!

It is opinions like these that are the cause of so many criminals we have in society today, people with no money to maintain a home get married and start giving birth like rabbits, then when these children grow up in a Nigerian society that is as selfish as they come, they start looking for means to get money quick and fast because they are trying to escape the vicious cycle of poverty their parents brought them into.

Nigeria has no infrastructure period. How are you going to afford school fees, rent etc? Some people are here suggesting you put off having children for a while. I laugh. If you get sacked from your job after marriage what will you do?

Highlight of my day so far

On a more serious note , there are females who will marry someone who earns  less than 40k NGN  , if his fiancee accepted his proposal (and he fully disclosed his financial situation) then I dont see the issue . The poster needs to ask himself after all is said and done what can i afford , and will my wife and I be content to live on it for the time period before i raise my income .  In addition what will happen if we have kids ? and if your decision is to wait , am i ready to face wife , inlaws and my family when they start asking for kids . (trust me once the ink is dry on the marriage cert . the next song you will hear is when will i carry my twins, )
