Food / Re: I Eat Dry Gari Everyday. Is This Healthy? by Pittbaby(f): 6:05pm On May 02, 2011
No just make sure u drink a lot of water afterwards and eat other things to maintain a balance diet . otherwise, you will fight a losing battle with your colon pretty soon if you know what I mean grin

Speaking from experience I went on a garri diet (drinking garri ) I lost weight, but after a few heaving bouts I dumped that idea .
Celebrities / Re: Decency In Kate's Wedding Appearance by Pittbaby(f): 3:51pm On May 02, 2011
since most white wedding gowns are imported , not made in Nigeria . Why are you bashing Nigerian women only . As for face painting  there are other cultures that have different makeup styles ( i.e Japanese) . When will we learn to respect our own culture and stop comparing . If you don't like something tell your wife not to do it . Stop gender bashing .

I have to agree SOME  Nigerian girls dress indecently, but not all don't generalize . Besides if there dressing was not attracting your fellow men they will not do it . If men paid attention to decently dress girls only, I'm sure it will not be so common place

Career / Re: Logistics Or Supply Chain Management by Pittbaby(f): 9:31pm On Mar 13, 2011
Just completed my Six Sigma Green belt Certification and i'm currently working on my CPSM ( CIPS_UK). Someone mentioned that to be of any good in Nigeria I need a SAP cert, My company uses both MFG Pro and Oracle so it will be of no value in my current role. I seriously doubt the value of a cert with no actual hands on experience . Any suggestions?

Food / Daniel Fast Recipes by Pittbaby(f): 10:36pm On Mar 01, 2011
The Daniel fast is a 21 day fast based on Daniel's commitment to eat only Fruits and Vegetables . The modern day Daniel fast is more flexible but the basic requirements remain the same

No animal flesh - Fish  included

No Dairy products or other animal byproducts - Milk, Cheese, eggs  and Yogurt

Only water - No other beverage  even fruit juice - You can eat fruits or make a fruit puree - absolutely no alcohol

No fried food - You can not fry plantain and call it a Daniel fast

No sugar- No sugar can be added to your meal

No artificial preservatives or flavours - this will rule out most packaged foods -  you will have to buy most items fresh and cook yourself ( e.g. no baked beans or canned vegetables with any additives beyond salt).

what is allowed - Fruits, Vegetables, Spices , nuts and high quality oils ( i.e olive oil  in contolled quantities )

The aim of the fast is spiritual growth ( you have to pray and read your bible everyday ) and physical healing ( through prayer and a detox - this is also cleanse diet)

There are several Daniel fast recipes  on line , but they are all for European and American palates . As a Naija girl i am looking for suggestions on what can be cooked naija style with the restrictions above .

What I have so far

- Boiled plantain and Mixed steamed vegetables
- Beans and Plantain Pottage
- Beans and Corn
- Potatoes and Mixed vegetables Pottage
- Fruit salad for breakfast, and fruits as a snack
- Green Salads with beans nuts or fruits ( no dressing - i am still sketchy on if Vinegar is allowed so you can make your own dressing)

Additional suggestions are welcome . I am on day one , twenty more to go . feel free to join me there are several resources and devotionals on line that can guide your prayer life during the fast .
Travel / Re: Help- Us Visa Requirements by Pittbaby(f): 10:11pm On Jan 17, 2011
I'm not an expert , but because you have received no other response i will start you up with

letter of invitation , stating relationship , location and period of stay and ability to support you during stay ( please do not consisder this a comprehensive description )
copies of his state issued ID (passport ) and possibly that of the wife

supplemental ( not sure it helps but good to have)
Financial statements
Proof of residence

No your wife not working does not affect the application as long as you can show ties to Nigeria . Job, property , Savings , investments and other responsibilities

A simple google seach will give you several sites that will provide the basic information requested. Hopefully others will pitch in and provide what applies in the consulate in nigeria

Politics / Re: 3/4 Of Nigerian Diaspora Lack Insight by Pittbaby(f): 2:26pm On Oct 26, 2010
I understand your point , i just dont understand why this directed at Nigerians in the diaspora and not at wealthy Nigerians in general . Today someone says all Nigerians outside Nigeria are just suffering and pretending tomorrow they are all millionaires . Your point will be carried further without generalization.

yes we as Nigerian will go a lot further if we gave back . How many great people graduated from public institutions that are now rotting away, too many !!!!
Travel / Re: Calling All Diasporans, Hints And Tips Needed To Survive This Recession by Pittbaby(f): 5:50pm On Oct 25, 2010
one tip will be learn to do your own hair. if you are not socializing that makes things even easier cos you can experiment at home, till u perfect your chosen style ( You tube has alot of self help videos ) . The most advisable way will be to start braiding your hair and go natural . That way you can always just braid and corn row without using chemicals that will damage your hair over time if not done by a professional . Friends who are handing with hair styles may also help ,you can barter their service for a few days baby sitting their kids .

An extreme choice will be to cut your hair . please consult husband first

Family / Re: Whats Ur Opinion On Adoption? by Pittbaby(f): 6:34pm On Jul 19, 2010
good move , my mum who is a lifelong now retired mid wife actually gives this advise to couples when they have tried for awhile. Adopt shower ur love on the child and in a lot of the cases the couple will actually conceive in their own good time. the most important thing is keeping your relationship intact not running from pillar to post for a baby and letting in laws tear you apart
Family / Re: Is It Proper To Make My Wife Next Of Kin? by Pittbaby(f): 2:31am On Jul 13, 2010
that's almost assuming the wife is an illiterate who cant be trusted to look after THEIR child isn't it?

Should be directed at poster , he doesnt trust his wife to be able to fight of his in laws and take care of his fortune on his demise. so i gave him a solution that he may be able to live with .
Family / Re: Is It Proper To Make My Wife Next Of Kin? by Pittbaby(f): 1:42pm On Jul 12, 2010
God forbid you pass while your son is still a minor , he will not have control of your estate you leave room for someone else to come in and act as guardian until he becomes of age . make your wife next of kin and have certain amounts held in trust for your kids when they become old enough . also take care of your wife O ,
Romance / Re: Your Friend's Wedding Or Boyfriend's Birthday Get Together? by Pittbaby(f): 10:09pm On Jul 09, 2010
We're talking of a Boy/f here not a husband.

I know that my sarcastic point being she has her own husband , poster should be working on securing her own

Can't You see that the total planning and fixing of date isn't within Your influence?
Your Boy/f's birthday is his birthday, You can't do much about it.
It's either he agrees to postpone the party or not.

As for the Friend . . . . even if You were involved in the planning, You can't ask her to change the date, simply because it happens to be Your boyfriend's birthday.
At the end of the day, You still have to choose where to be.

Nope thats not the point I am making .

1. If your are close to your friend u will have been informed of the date well in advance , and would know it falls on the same dat as your BFs birthday.

2. If you are the One lady in BFs life you should be involved in planning his birthday so it should be understood that that there is a mutual agreement to postpone the Bday it is not by force that it must be on the day he was born , or you tell friend un will not be attending .

If none of the above are happening , you either failed to plan ahead or your relationship with one of the parties is not that strong .
Romance / Re: Your Friend's Wedding Or Boyfriend's Birthday Get Together? by Pittbaby(f): 3:46pm On Jul 09, 2010
Things to consider:

1) Friend already has her own  husband

2) Not attend BF's birthday and let another woman run the show

If you and  friend are that close you should have been involved in the planning to some extent and known far in advance about the wedding date . If you and BF are in a commited relationship you should have told boyfriend long ago date of Friend's wedding , besides you should be involved in the  planning  of BFs party and so you will have known better and not scheduled a conflict . So its clear you are neither close to BF or Friend . You will not be missed at either occasion

Properties / Re: One Year Rent- Why So Difficult? by Pittbaby(f): 5:27pm On Jun 24, 2010
Very annoying situation, and to make matters worse , after that two year period landlords will inflate the rent drastically for the annual payment . You have no choice but to pay unless you are willing to gather another large amount to pay two years somewhere else
Family / Re: Getting Pregnant After 35 by Pittbaby(f): 5:23pm On Jun 24, 2010
very helpful smart mom

My mum is a nurse specilizing in OB/GYN and the advise she gave a family member that has been trying for 4 years and is now 36 is adopt and shower all your love on your new child . let things return to normal in the bedroom if a baby will come it will come , stressing out is not helping. and if it doesnt happen you have a child to share your life with and you have taken the unneccesary stress out of your relatinship. She said in almost all cases where this advise was taken a baby eventually was conceived by the couple, for some people it just takes time.

Now I know this is difficult for African people to accept , so it depends on your relationship and how commited you are to each other in taking this advise
Travel / Re: Us Conference Visa by Pittbaby(f): 12:12am On Jun 20, 2010
Us is giving 3months single entry?

When did that start? O ga oh.

I always thought the minimum type of visa issues is 2 years multiple entry visa

my dear my sentiments exactly never heard of 3 months from US before . But I guess several witnesses to prove that it exists . But there seems to be no clear reason when they give the 3 months vs 2 year.  Afterall my ghanian friend got 10yrs on her virgin passport
