andrewbaba44:When did Jorginho win UCL player of the season in 2021? Kante would have been the one to win it if one was handed out. Jorginho only won the Best Player in Europe award because he won the two major trophies that year, not because he was great. Lmao. Spain won the Euros in 2008 without Busquets. This was clearly a team on the rise. Why did they go trophyless with Busquets at DM after Xaviesta retired if he was such a deciding factor? Yeah, Thiago was always injured every international break. Parejo nko? Even you can't deny the level of nepotism and favoritism in the Spanish national team. |
popizaino:Where is the lie? Is he not stronger than Busquets? Is he not a better ball-winner/disruptor? Na before dem dey talk say Busquets na one special breed of DM, the brains over brawn type. Now, Rodri has shown you can match the brains with the necessary physicality. He is the upgrade. |
Culer:See this one. Rodri has a better passing range and his ball progression is definitely better. Your Busquets sabi shoot? |
andrewbaba44:What makes you think Busquets is beyond dragging? Person wey dem don demystify for here time and time again. Wetin Busquets achieve for him career post-Xaviesta and Messi? Na one humiliation after another. It's fitting that Spain won the very first trophy they were up for immediately Busquets hung his boots. Maybe he was the one holding them back all along. As for him starting over Rodri, no be today, agenda dey Spain. No be here we dey, wey dem dey bench ballers in Thiago and Parejo for kids like Pedri and Gavi. Rodri is doing his thing, without being in anybody's shadow. He is stamping his authority on games, not waiting for KdB and Haaland to always save the day. Rodri has more clutch performances this season than Busquets has managed in his entire career. While Busquets' teams dey crash out in back-to-back CL group stages, Rodri dey win MOTM for semi and finals. Jorginho no reach anybody for Bayern and his 2021 was a fluke. If I ask you to mention one big performance Jorginho delivered that year now, you go begin stammer. Nobody will say Greece are a bigger footballing nation than say, Croatia just because they won the Euros in 2004. Rodri's imminent Ballon d'or nomination is only just the icing on the cake, not the defining factor for him overtaking Busquets. It is his consistent performances over the last few years, culminating in clutchness that has led to this moment. Godri > Busquets |
TLona1:But he is winning Player of the tournament and man of the match awards in big games, with KdB and Haaland as his team mates. Dey play. You get mind drag Modric, but e go touch Busquets too. Rodri has overtaken your guy in the DM rankings. He is the updated version, Busquets is the obsolete one. He can do everything Busquets can and even more. He is better defensively, stronger, and technically superior to Busquets. He is not the one on the receiving end of CL chokejobs and cricket scorelines. Instead, he is leading his teams through in these high-stakes situations. He is actually a contender for the biggest individual prize in the game, something your MCM could never dream of. |
iamoyindamola:Kimmich is untouchable. Hojbjerg would be competing with Goretzka, Sabitzer, Laimer and Gravenberch if he comes. It looks unlikely though, we already have more than enough 8's in our team. What we are looking for is a defensive specialist, a real 6 and Hojbjerg isn't really one. But, crazier things have happened sha. . |
iamoyindamola:Lmao. Interestingly, i had a funny dream last night that Bayern signed Hojbjerg. I still don't know what to make of it Maybe the universe is trying to work one little W for Ibime in the midst of all these L's |
andrewbaba44:I actually like Sule a lot. I call him Big Dick Nik or Sulinho and i've always defended him in time past. I just think his professionalism leaves a bit to be desired. His weight is a constant topic of discussion and no be today, e start. If he takes better care of his body, he might just hit the heights we know he is capable of. |
andrewbaba44:MATS chose the wrong era to play for Germany It's almost like there is nothing he can do to displace Neuer. Imagine having the best season of your career, and still not sure of a starting shirt when THAT guy comes back.Sule no dey perform at top level kan kan. He is not even the best defender at Dortmund. He should get back in top shape and maybe Flick fit look im side. |
andrewbaba44:Sule is a good defender just like Lukaku is a good striker and Hazard is a good winger There is no point in being "good" if you can't show it. Look beyond the names. How many of these guys are actually performing at the top level at their clubs? This past season, the only ones that can hold their heads up high are MATS, Kimmich and Musiala. Shey na Havertz wey dem dey curse here every weekend, abi na Gnabry wey chop bench tire or Sane wey dey fluctuate like NEPA. Even Gundogan sef, na when e reach almost the end of the season, e pick form. Team wey no get better CF naim complete. Just dey play. |
Ibime:Lmao. You wan turn Havertz to scapegoat. These names only look good on paper. In reality, when you put them together, they are average. BTW, Kroos retired since the last Euros. Gundogan has never been a consistent performer and tactically he doesn't dovetail well with Kimmich in midfield. Can is mid, abeg. Musiala and Wirtz are only 20, you can't possibly expect much from them. If they play well, fine. If they don't, it's part of the growth process. No need to talk about Sane and Gnabry. Their issues are well documented at club level and Julian Brandt has never really lived up to expectations despite his obvious talent. Plenty defenders, but how many of them are quality? Comot Rudiger, and you find yourself scratching your head looking at the defensive options left. Shey na Big Mac Sule abi na Bella Shmurda you wan pick? Even the ones beasting in the league like Schlotterbeck can't carry their form over to the national team. It doesn't matter if the GKs are world-class, if the guys in front of them are not delivering, na F. Havertz get im own failings but he's only starting because there is no real option at the 9. It will be interesting to see him start alongside Fullkrug up front, maybe something fit click for Germany. |
popizaino:LOL. Na national team football be this, no be club level oh. Pep won't get the chance to discard players and buy new ones like he does. Zero transfers. He will be stuck with the same set of players and be forced to work with them, with little time on the training pitch to build team chemistry and instill his playing philosophy, which are notoriously complex by the way. I go like see the miracle e wan perform under such conditions. National team football coaching is not as easy as most people think it is. |
Capaldi:No be everything be the coach. Germany's problems are beyond Flick. If you like carry Pep come, dem go still play their rubbish. This generation of German players are not as strong as the previous ones, quality and mentality-wise. The mentality issue is even a much bigger problem than the quality of the playing personnel IMO. Flick has tried to change his tactics to get the best out of his team, but these guys just don't know how to win. That Flick has continued to hammer on the need to show more desire, intensity, conviction and other intangibles in his criticism of his team's performances tells you all you need to know. There are still issues such as the lack of a quality no 9 and the full back positions but the fact that too many "top-rated" players are also not performing to expectations is a big part of the crisis. Havertz, Muller, Gundogan, Sane, Gnabry, and even Kimmich at times, are all guilty of this. Flick no be magician, my guy. There is a limit to things he can do, it's up to these players to step up. I just hope they get it right in time for the Euros sha. |
WhoDeyHause:Nothing serious, bro. Just one of the many rumors making the rounds. Bayern are yet to make any concrete offer for him. |
Culer:The trend is a funny one. Lucas is leaving for PSG, so we are basically buying Kim with the money from his sale. Hopefully this also means we are going all in for that all-important striker signing. Make dem splash the cash on Kane or Osimhen. |
Interesting news today linking us with Kim Min-Jae and Pau Torres. Torres is my preferred option. He's lowkey been one of the best defenders in Europe over the past couple of seasons. He is left-footed, same as Lucas which makes it much easier. He also has the same release clause as Kim (50M), but with only a year left on his contract, which means we can negotiate a much lower fee with Villarreal. Competition is also not stiff as with Kim, so we don't need to make compromises. He has been consistent, with big performances in Europe with Villarreal, unlike Kim wey just blow. All these Serie A guys sef dey fear me. Even, the best of them don't seem to handle a step up in league quality very well. Case in point, CSO at Chelsea. But knowing Bayern, dem fit wan buy Kim to exploit our Far East market, which is actually strong. Anyway, either of the 2 no go bad. |
andrewbaba44:Goetze is chill too. Muller na clown nau, but everybody loves him, except Barca fans of course ![]() Gnabry is super cool but he's not German German, so. . Sane sulks a lot, and he doesn't really give much away. But you see Kahn, Neuer dem. Those ones strong face kpa. Even as a Bayern fan, I no go too dey excited to meet them. |
MorataFC:Like Saul on the road to Damascus, the scales have fallen from your eyes, and you have now seen the light. Your sins are forgiven, my son. |
andrewbaba44: Kroos has always been one cold modafucka. That guy takes no prisoners. He is German after all. E dey their blood. The only warm and friendly Germans i know are Klopp, Muller and Hummels. The rest are always uptight, serious and non-smiling. Dem get Coldface, in the immortal words of hensben ![]() |
Bacteria8:Which one consign me? Your club can continue to humiliate itself sucking up to a player that has no regard or respect for it what stands for. When he ends up breaking your heart again, no come here dey cry yeye tears. |
andrewbaba44:Na like Griezmann and Barca all over again. That guy raised Barca's hopes, only to hold a televised press conference announcing he was staying at Atletico That shiit really pissed Messi off. The werey come later join the following season, only to flop.Make Mbappe own no come be like that. |
King2019:Cos Madrid no get money abi? I don't think you understand how massive a football institution, Real Madrid is. Mbappe should be the one going on strike, forcing his way out of PSG. Not Real begging and bending over backwards for his signature. You've had all-time greats like Zidane, Ronaldo, CR7 etc play for you, you come dey beg for one small boy. Just because say you wan chop meat, no mean say you go dey call cow, Oga. |
This Mbappe drama dey irritate me, i swear. Real Madrid are the biggest SIMPs in world football. No self-respecting club suppose look Mbappe side after the rubbish he pulled on them last season. I can understand Mbappe taking PSG for granted. Dem no get history. But a whole Real Madrid! Chai! Self-proclaimed greatest club in the world. Shame dey catch me for una. Madrid be like that guy that usually gets any babe e wants until e come jam one wey dey use am shako, come make am dey do like mumu. Players dey beg to play for you guys, even if na for free. Una come turn ode untop this guy. Person wey no even get one Ballon d'or to his name. His latest outburst is probably another plan to negotiate an even bigger contract with PSG using you guys again. But una go still fall for am. We go dey here when he signs another deal again. |
The fact that Haaland may not win the Ballon d'or after the season he's just had is just crazy, when you think of it. Just like Liverpool not winning the league despite racking up 97 points. E no make sense at all. Messi's WC masterclass raised the bar so high, it was almost going to be impossible to beat. Haaland came really close but I don't think it will be enough. There is always a bit of narrative behind these awards and Haaland just fell short. He blanked in 5! of Man City's biggest games of the season. FA, CL semifinals and finals. It was quite the anti-climax. I was rooting for him to win it but I gats dey realistic. Messi don carry this one. |
So, Rodri won UCL Player of the season. Oga Ibime, dem no wan allow you rest with all this L's. Ahn ahn, what happen? ![]() |
Capaldi:Capaldi, my guy. . ![]() |
Capaldi:Forte, you mean? Spelling isn't clearly yours ![]() |
Capaldi:Keep consoling yourself with "Inter tried." I'm still waiting for the havoc you said Lautaro and Lukaku were going to wreak. Lmao. |
Greatihex:I said 'his fair share of luck". There were times he made the right decision but ended up with a negative outcome. Take for example, the second leg vs Madrid in 2022, he took off a KdB that was ghosting, replaced his tiring wide attackers with fresh legs in Grealish and Sterling, and brought on Fernandinho to close out the game in the last quarter. He got his tactics spot on, IMO. But everything went south just 2 minutes to the end of the game. There was no reasonable explanation for what Real did. It just happened. So you see, you still need a bit of luck. |
Capaldi:More like L for you. CapaLdi, for a reason ![]() |
Capaldi:See shalaye. City won the game. EOD. It would be have been a more different game, if it wasn't a final. City were understandably cautious, with the high stakes. They got the job done in the end, that was all that mattered. |
Leyqute:Of course. That's the barest minimum you would expect of a striker. Engage the opposing CBs and make them work with your movement and positioning. Beyond that, his holdup and linkup play in those games was average and his finishing was below his usual standard. City might as well have done it with any random striker. I still believe it was only a matter of time before City got it right in Europe. They had been knocking on that door for a while now. Haaland was just a welcome addition, not the game changer he was made out to be when he was bought. If anything, I think Pep learned from his past mistakes and got his fair share of luck. |
