PDPGuy:Times are changing and football needs to evolve as well. I'm not surprised at the disapproval shared by many people on the point he raised. Football has always been stubborn and slow to accept change. The one i really want to see get implemented is 0 points for the teams that play out a goalless draw in a league game. People pay money and spend their time to watch a game only to see you run around for 90 mins without scoring a single goal. That is unpardonable in my book. No football game should ever end in a goalless draw. Never! ![]() |
MorataFC:I would love to see this. The Laws of The Game need a shake-up and i like that managers are speaking up about things like this. A few days ago, it was Nagelsmann calling for change and inclusion of more technology, even going as far as suggesting a player wearing earpieces, so the coach can pass tactical information to them. The guys at IFAB need to come up with innovative rules that will encourage attacking football and make the game more exciting. The last major rule made in this regard was the backpass rule and that was a long time ago. izzou:I think what Pioli meant was when you cross the halfway line with the ball, you can't play it back into your own half. Like in basketball. This means players are encouraged or in this case forced to come up with attacking solutions and not just pass the ball all the way back when they run out of ideas. Adding a shot clock would also spice things up. Say, 15s to get the ball out, and 45s to attempt a shot. Again, like in basketball You can imagine the excitement that such open, end-to-end games would generate. |
Unlimited22:Doc! I dey o! Wassup nau? I no too dey active like before but i still dey show face every now and then. Most times na to just dey observe. I also haven't seen you around in a while. Hope everything is good. |
![]() |
ritchboy:The good ol' days! The guys you mentioned save for Debosky and coogar are still very much around. Nihilist is actually a separate moniker. Lalaboi and kashmo dey also show face once in a while. . Seniormen don comot sha. Chamotex, Vieira, eldee and co. Omo, i don old for here o! ![]() |
timbros:LOL. If you can dream it, you can achieve it ![]() |
pamcode:Yeah. Nigga jumped on the Suarez-Sturridge bandwagon very early and rode it till the very end. His record will never be beaten. Sun of a Beach and The Disvirginators There was also one Euro 2012 fantasy competiton where he finished in the Top 10 and won a prize, i think. The guy sabi abeg. |
ritchboy:Ritchboyyyyyy!!! Omo, where have you been all this while?! For the newbies who don't know him, this man is an absolute LEGEND. The only Nairaland manager to finish in the Global Top 100, number 69 to be specific ![]() I no fit forget that season. Baba just dey captain Suarez dey gather points. That was some crazy shiit! You still dey support Arsenal? ![]() |
Seankafor, I'm so sorry for your loss. Stay strong, bro. |
Omo, una dey try for here o. Almost everyday, na this Mount matter una dey argue. Can't hate on the young man though, he deserves the praises he's been getting even if it does get a bit too much. Congrats on you guys winning the CL by the way. Well deserved. |
nihilistjnr:Ok, boss. |
nihilistjnr:Happy New Year, bruv. Happy Birthday to you, also. More life and prosperity. |
adebayo201:Don't be too sure o. Ramdeuter is actually a decent emcee Can't remember the thread now but there was a time he dropped some lit bars here. Even i was impressed. If i get time, i go search for am. |
Liposure:You get am! That reaction erased whatever feeling the referee might have had that the ball crossed the line. Can't blame him though, he's only human. But that final pain us gaan. Everywhere was quiet after the game. |
Kimbeast: Our rivalry with them in the early 2000s was something else. It was WAR. The two best teams on the continent at that time. The Bakassi dispute also stoked the flames of that rivalry. Both teams would rather lose to any team than to the other. Mboma, Song, Webo, Eto'o. Babayaro, Okocha, Kanu. A proper African classic. Those mofos were very physical and aggressive. I still don't know how they got away with wearing those 'armless' jerseys. They looked more like thugs than footballers. Plenty of memories from those battles. THAT Jay-jay freekick. Losing the 2000 AFCON final in Lagos. That Ikpeba penalty, if only there was goal-line technology then. Mehn, those were the good ol' days when boys still carry Super Eagles matter for head. |
We are all too quick to cry racism. I personally don't know how that statement was overtly racist considering the context. The Romanian 4th official didn't know his name and the number tags wasn't visible. How else was he supposed to point out Webo to the ref? Is he not Black? The black man and his victim mentality. That was how they bullied Greg Clarke into stepping down as FA chairman because he said "Coloured people" instead of people of colour. The same people are the ones wey go dey shout "Black is Proud" and other Black Power mottos. But the moment, a person of a different race makes the slightest, reference to their identity as Blacks, it's racism. It's the same thing with the LGBT guys. This PC liberal wokeness madness has got to stop. There is racism, no one is denying that but crying and trying to guilt-trip everytime isn't it. |
BlueMann:Just seeing this. I was surprised when i saw his reply cos i don't remember you having a beef with him. I think Chairman might just be having a bad afternoon and is a little stressed. |
nihilistjnr:Baba, you suppose dey calm down. I don't think BlueMann meant any harm. Me sef just dey laugh as i dey see the multiple "use your brain" ![]() You even get time dey reply the nonsense wey the other guy write. A simple 'K' would have sufficed. |
airmark:Hehehe. You no go ever free this man sha Na that one wey e nearly prostrate for Griezmann like a respectful Yoruba boy be my favorite Boateng na meme god. But strangely enough, i have this new-found respect for him. The guy really tried for us last season. So no Boateng slander for me, at least until he starts his madness again. |
The things you read on these pages. . Lampard slander from a Chelsea fan?! Make Angel Gabriel kuku blow trumpet. Popi, abeg just dead this matter. E no make sense. |
Barca fans and this their Busquets hype. No one is calling him an absolute fraud but you can't deny the fact that the system he played in helped him to a great extent. Busquets was able to thrive in that system because Barca's midfield control game was so good. Xavi and Iniesta were at the peak of their powers and you had Messi dropping in to create overloads and mehn THAT press! Busquets' job was pretty much recycling the ball and trying to snuff out whatever spurts of attack or counter the opponent could muster. In 2015, Barca's success was hinged on the offensive firepower of MSN. Barca basically sacrificed their waning midfield control play for more balance and solidity. Rakitic, a proper CAM at Sevilla took on a slightly defensive role and even Iniesta dropped deeper. Busquets now had more cover to help out with his already barely existent defensive duties. Add to the fact that teams were afraid to attack because of MSN, man was cruising. Busquets has tika-taka to thank for giving him a career ![]() |
Scenes when Boateng signs for Chelsea I would so love to see that happen. Airmark go nearly cry sha. Imagine Chelsea offloading Rudiger, only to replace him with Boateng. On the bright side, at least ApariSports and The Citadel would finally find a common ground, cheering BoaTank to victory.Marina, please make it happen! I beg you! |
Roland and Pastor Skimple no go use laugh tear my belle. See cruise! |
nateevs:Wow! Nateevs Baba!!! I can't believe i left out this gentleman. Suave and smooth as always. I dey always picture you as some sage, appearing once in a blue moon to bless us with rich words of wisdom. Hats off to you, sire. I gats mad respect for you. Yeah, i guess so. Dignity, maturity and all that. |
Omo, small small i don dey old for here o . Today marks exactly 10 yrs since i opened this account on NL. 10 fuccking years. How time flies.Mehn, many people don come and go. What i would give to bring back some monikers here. The likes of toba, eldee, debosky, even coogar and my eternal crush iice! Mukina2, i no forget o! ![]() Shoutout to the old cats still keeping the flame burning. Ibime, na real Boss you be. Nihilist ma niccur, despite the uncountable moniker changes, you've always stayed true to yourself. Not forgetting Airmark and Roland17. Jamace, my brother from another mother. You guys will forever have my respect. To the youngins, it's been a pleasure knowing some of you. Dr Unlimited22, iamoyindamola aka sod09. You guys are the future ![]() I've made enemies as well. They know themselves, so need to waste precious space on them. I doubt i will be spending another 10 yrs here. A day will come when we would all have to leave this behind and move on. But until then.. |
timbros:Damn! Hope you are fine and not seriously hurt. Make we all dey stay safe during this Ember period. |
Man, am i fuccking devastated. I don't think i can even bring myself to watch the second half. Words can't explain how i'm feeling right now. That Kimmich injury might just be the most defining moment in our season. All because of that stupid hospital pass from Sarr. That hediot just gave the fanbase more reasons to dislike him. |
iskoki:City and PSG wey no get money to buy players again. Everybody dey tight-fisted now. There is little money coming in and clubs are losing as much as 100m a season. No club would pay Alaba that much in this Covid era. He is just being greedy. You dey earn 11m/yr, the club is giving you 17M but no you want 20+. He was playing hardball in the hope that Bayern would yield. Now e go shock am. |
LOL. Alaba overestimated his importance and decided to hold the club to ransom. Now, my broda is getting burned. You've been serving mediocre performances for the past 4 seasons and after one good season, you think you deserve 20m/yr. In this time and age. Madness. Good thing, the club has refused to bend over backwards. It will be very sad if things really end this way. Nigga might have just ruined his legacy because of a few more bucks. Looking forward to what he has to say at the press conference later today. |
airmark:Bro, I tire for the lies, they are just too much. I don't know why some people just can't own up and accept they are wrong for once. Thank God for Transfermarkt. Here are the games history of Thiago in the 2013/14 season. https://www.transfermarkt.com/thiago/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/60444/plus/0?saison=2013&verein=27&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id= Anybody with a working brain can easily deduce he was a starter, barring injuries and fitness issues. The consecutive number of games he started when fit is enough pointer. And that was when our midfield was loaded. We had Thiago, Kroos, Schweini, Martinez who was mostly injured and Muller, who had to settle for a place on the bench some of the time when Robbery were fit. Imagine trying to spin the story based on minutes played. Even the subs and apps on the bench can easily be explained as Pep trying to ease him back into action and load management given his injury history. Thiago was a special request from Pep when he took the Bayern job. Abeg, how do you bench a player you actively canvassed for? I go always dey here to burst their bubble. |
kendrick9:I've been following your arguments on our thread but i dey mind my business as per make wahala no start. But today, my body no fit just take those lies. I gats clear am. |
Kendrick9, i don talk say i no go chook mouth for this matter for obvious reasons. But no let anybody confuse you. You were right about some of the things you've been saying. 1. Alaba was Bayern's best defender last season. His form dropped off during the CL knockout games and he's meh at the moment. But he was a big part of our success last season. 2. Thiago was easily the most consistent midfielder at Bayern when he was fit. I dey laugh when one person talk say Thiago dey sit down for bench in his first season under Pep. Thiago that was the midfield boss before he got injured and was out for close to 2 years. 3. Dante was Bayern's best CB during the treble winning season and Pep's first year. Only a liar would say otherwise. His decline started around 2015, just about the same time Boateng started to hit top form. But the fact remains he was our best CB at a point in time. So Baba, again no let anyone use mago mago for you. |
