The law is quite clear. Is there a division in PDP? Your guess is as good as mine.

Section 68 (1) (g) of the Nigerian constitution makes party defection grounds for removal for members of the national assembly. This section states that A member shall vacate his seat “being a person whose election to the house was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that House was elected; provided that his membership of the latter political party is not as a result of a division in the political party of which he was previously a member or of a merger of two or more political parties or factions by one of which he was previously sponsored ”.

Section 109 (1) of the 1999 Constitution provides that ‘a member of a House of Assembly shall vacate his seat in the House if … (g) being a person whose election to the House of Assembly was sponsored by a political Party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that House was elected…
Has any court instructed ifeanyi uba and the 27 lawmakers to vacate their sits? Go and watch Enemis Alabo George's interview on channels, the National secretary position in the PDP is in contention. I told you that they are not kids, they've done their homework.

Last week the speaker also got an interim injunction preventing the house from convening if the members in attendance are less than 25, the defendant in the suit were asked to pay 1b if that order is breached

There is no division in the PDP national to warrant their defection. The constitution is very clear about it.
what can you say about ifeanyi uba? I watched Enemi Alabo George on channels, he has a valid reason for defection, there are no small boys, they have done their homework before defection and up till this moment no court has declared their seat vacant, I know you're tilting towards the other side but it is what it is

The moment the 27 members defected to the APC they ceased being members of Rivers state House of Assembly. In the days ahead, there seats will be declared vacant with INEC directed to conduct new elections to fill the seats.

They will learn the hard way.
no court has declared their seats vacant, ifeanyi uba defected some weeks ago, has he stopped being a member of the national assembly?

Be speaking grammar there. 2/3 of 5 is 4. If others did not attend 2/3 is based on attendance. Quorum is simply amending house rule and kpichicum, budget would be PASSED.
How many members are in the house? Has the court made a pronouncements on tge validity of the sits of the lawmakers that defected? Please dont insult me if you can't engage politely, thanks.
Politics / Re: High Court Confirms Edison As Authentic Speaker Of Rivers Assembly by plat0: 3:03pm On Dec 12, 2023
Please read the documents you uploaded, nowhere is it stated that he was confirmed speaker, they just got an order from a favourable court and judge to enable the governor pass the budget in the government house, moreover, you need 2/3rd to be speaker, you also need 2/3rd to remove a speaker, and finally you need 2/3rd to form a quorum

Beer parlour suggestions, can you do a search on how much it costs to build a modular Refinery.

State government are not done fixing trunk B and C road, and you're suggesting that they embark on building a refinery. The problem with you internet people, you think it's easy to run a country like Nigeria after decades of mismanagement by previous government since independence, let's assume state governments somehow get the funding to build refineries, how long do you think it'll take the refineries to be up and running from this moment.

What is the IGR being used for
The governors use the money to embark on high ticket projects, as a state all the roads in Lagos should be in good shape, it's the least they can do considering the money they generate, the state is also supposed to constitute an active Road maintenance board. Fashola's administration constructed numerous major and internal roads, my street in surulere then was tarred during his tenure, ambode and sanwo Olu failed to maintain those roads, they embarked on high ticket projects, like terminal in oshodi and other projects.

If a state as big and rich as Lagos and being touted as the best state in Nigeria can't fix and proactively maintain their roads, then Nigeria as a country is not making it out of the trenches

you borrow and borrow and you think in one year the economy will bounce back from borrowing to fund businesses?

Do you know the amount of money the local content board and the NNPC has invested in refineries that are being built in Nigeria?

When you borrow to give the manufacturers, how long do you think it'll take for their businesses to be up and running?

Because you see everything from a political lens, you probably think Nigerians won't suffer from the past administrations ineptitude?

You think a man will come and overnight they'll be jobs everywhere?

The state Buhari left Nigeria has little or nothing to do with where we are today

Yes it was bad but not this bad

Removing of fuel subsidy, floating naira without having backing brought us here

Buhari is a failure yes but at least he was careful
Tinubu and his team are even more ignorant than Buhari team and are too carefree

Economy no be by gra gra... You tackle is slowly

None, zero of tinubu policy has worked all backfired leaving us far worse where we started
People like you think everything is politics, where is the cash for subsidy?

Where is the cash to defend the naira?

Just look at the number of ignorant persons that liked your post, maybe we should make you president of Nigeria.

Nigeria is in a big mess, regardless of who is president, at the moment the country is in a bad State financially.

A straight path from Abuja to Lagos geographically is 512km. With the curves, it can be more than that. No amount of engineering in the world will reduce that to 460km unless you carry Lagos to around Ogbomosho.
Umahi is an Engineer, no doubt but he is also a politician and that tells a lot.
Either the journalist are misquoting him or he playing politics
They are not misquoting him, he spoke about the road last week, he said the road is being constructed by a private firm, upon completion, it will be tolled to recoup the money invested in the project, he says the road will be 460km in length, if you're an engineer or you're into road construction, you'd know that before a project is awarded or embarked upon, the length of the road is usually calculated.

Why not wait for the project to be completed? Are you insinuating that the private company will embark on a project without taking the length of the road into consideration?

As the crow flies distance which is a straight line between two points, puts Abuja to Lagos at 512km without curves.
If you understand Geography, just take a map and do this calculation out and you will see it's not achievable. The best that can be achieved will still be above 600km as there must be some meanders on the route. Considering that the law permits a speed limit, there cannot be any possiblity of achieving that in 4 hours
Do you know more than umahi who's an experienced Engineer? He has done his calculation on the new route and he says it's 460km in length but an unknown person on the internet who's is probably not an engineer and is not privy to the road plan says it's impossible?

Even, Lagos - ibadan with the smooth road is still well over 1hr.
460km, it's a new road entirely. The old road is 700km in length.

nope, he's constructing a new road. 460km in length, I have read the comments on this thread, people don't care to know the details of the project hence their disbelief and skepticism. The existing road to Abuja from Lagos is about 700km, if he pulls this project off, Lagos to Abuja will take about 4-5 hours

Nigerians are generally ignorant on social media and in the future, these seeming ignorance will make the country implode if the government doesn't embark on massive reorientation. The companies buys the crude oil at the international benchmark price for crude oil, as a private establishment, do you expect them to sell fuel at subsidized rate? Why not build your own refinery and sell at a subsidized rate?
