I'm flabbergasted to read so many comments here of people using both feet to drive. Get it right, it is WRONG!!!

miky: you have your info mixed up, but thats ok.. septic shock is caused by cytokine, infact i saw a patient not too long ago few months maybe with similar condition..i doubt your in the medical field? its hard for me to explain as it wouldn't even make sense .

I agree septic shock can be caused by the release of cytokines. But like I said earlier, it more likely to be what is called a ''Cytokine Storm''. Its actually a new phenomenon, so I won't be surprised if some doctors, especially those chronic MOs that refuse to update their knowledge don't know anything about it.

The key difference between the two is that sepsis occurs more frequently in those with compromised immunity, cytokine storms occur in healthy individuals with intact immune systems.

Avidin is NOT poisonous. What happens is that it binds to the biotin present in egg white preventing its absorption. Like other have rightly noted it would take quite a while for boitin deficiency to develop, even then it is very unlikely to lead to the death of the man.

This rules out avidin being the source of death.

Another, never cosume milk or dairy products after alcohol it would coagulate in your stomach and u would be dead in minutes..

@blue. Its a possibility. cytokine storms (not septic shock) caused by release of excess cytokines have been implicated in bird flu caused by the H5N1. So if the eggs were contaminated, the ingestion of such high quantity could have triggered the fatal reaction.

As for the other part, I'm not sure where you got that from. Firstly how does alcohol lead to the coagulation of milk? secondly, even if it did, why would coagulated milk in the stomach lead to death?

I agree with Tampa1871. As one who has sold a couple of cars for clients, I can answer this from my perspective - my clients are usually relatively high net worth individuals who eschew any kind of publicity. They feel their car tags are easily recognizable, and dont want City people carrying a story. I can just see it now "Alhaji ___ is broke, selling off all assets, pictures included!!". As a matter of fact, a friend recently sold his Aston Martin, and didn't even want a picture posted. To preempt your question - no, they most definitely were not stolen.

This makes me wonder, why do we as Nigerians always think the worst of one another? 2 posters immediately jump to the conclusion that the cars most be stolen. Is this based on reality or just perception? Are Nigerians really that bad? If we feel this way about one another, why are we so resentful and downright hostile when outsiders voice similar opinions of us? Dont mean to derail the post, Just wondering.

cretin: well. not exactly true.i learnt on my own too, so use 2 legs......its even better and it keeps the 2 legs busy ..i hv been in close shaves a couple of times...and never slammed on the gas pedal in error, my brain has adapted to it.........tried unlearning it sometime ago, when peeps critisiced me...but never could unlearn.......so am living with it n loving it!!

vivian chinaza: I was using 2 legs before, until the day I mistakenly matched on the accelerator instead of the brake, God really helped me that day if not it would have been another story. So I learned how to use a leg by force.

Benite: As a medical student i was made to understand that raw egg contains Avidin which inhibit Biotin and biotin plays role in most carboxylase reactions. Its (biotin) deficiency or inhibition can pose very serious health risk. So my brother if u take it stop because u are endangering ur life. Boiling of egg denature avidin and other infections (bird flu inclusive) in the egg. Bioled egg still contains protien afterall do you chew ur raw beans? You have to boil it (denaturing) yet beans still give us protein. So pls dont be decieved boil ur egg get non-toxic protein and remain safe. Spread this to all ur loved ones raw egg is toxic boiled egg is safe.

Secondly biotin deficiency is VERY UNLIKELY to be cause of the man's death, reasons abound:

-It takes quite a period of sustained lack for before it develops
-there are many sources of biotin in nature, heck the human large intestine also produces some amount.
-egg yolk in raw state also contains biotin.
-its RDA is usually in mircograms
-It deficiency which manifests slowly comes in the form of skin disorders.

Using internet slang or abbreviations does not mean someone is not intelligent. The issue is that the generations before us did not have such easy access (if any) to the internet and therefore are not used to certain expressions. They should understand that some of the most intelligent people abbreviate. In fact our BRB is like their "etc" or "asap". For as long as language has been in existence, there was always other ways to express oneself. English has evolved many times. From being pure Germanic to what it is today, it's still changing. That's life.

As for the red part, carelessness or not paying attention to what you are doing can cause that. It happens to the best of us sometimes. Don't assume it can't/won't happen to you now.

That I believe is why we proofread our official write ups before handing them in. Even if somehow the 'LOLs' and 'ur' crept in during the drafting phase, it is expected they would all have been weeded out by the time the final draft is ready.

I do quite a lot of texting, which invariably involves the use of those colloquial contractions; nonetheless, I simply cannot imagine writing an official report and end up using 'ur', 'msg', 'l8tr'. It doesn't happen.

Bottom line: Its either you either you know English or you don't. Using slang shouldn't an excuse for an obvious deficiency.
