nex: Actually, the most bizarre drink ever is none other than Pússy. It's actually the best power drink I've had, but THE NAME!

And it gets quite funny to have a conversation, even when buying it, "can I have some Pússy please?". I was crazy when some friends and I were having a business meeting with the distributors of this drink. It was all Pússy, Pússy, Pússy.

Christianity EtcRe: Christians, Can You Trace The History Of Your Feastival......? by plendil: 12:38pm On Dec 27, 2012
well it been nice chatting with you guys. What I would expected is appeal for Christians to shun the inordinate merrymaking that accompanies Christmas, and lean towards spiritual revival and appreciation for what Christ has done by reaching out to others physically, materially and spirituality. This should not necessarily mean jettisoning the celebration altogether.

But to insist that any observance of the day is inherently evil, and being unable to come up with explicit Biblical references that condemn such, other than the 'pagan festival origin' cliche, is untenable.

chukwudi44: ws should please stop using the calendar months names since they have pagan origins. Some of them like January are named after roman gods. They should please stop using them or they will become hypocrites

Calendar Name Origins - Names of Months

January - ME Januari(us), OE Januarius, translation of Latin Januarius, named after JANUS, god of beginnings.
February - ME OE Februarius from Latin Februarius, named for Februa, the feast of purification.
March - ME March(e), from Latin Martius, (month of) Mars.
April - ME Averil, OF Avril, Latin Aprilis mensis (month). The name may derive from the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite.
May - ME OE Maius, Latin Maius mensis (month), from the Greek Maia, goddess of spring (growth).
June - ME Jun(e), OE Iunius, from Latin mensis Junius, named after the goddess Juno, Queen of the gods.
July - ME Julie, OE Julius, from Latin Julius (Caesar) after whom it was named in 44 BC. The original name was quintilis, fifth month in the early Roman calendar.
August - ME OE Agustus from Latin Augustus (Caesar) 8 BC. The original name was sextilis, sixth month in the early Roman calendar.
September - ME Septembre from Latin September, seventh month in the early Roman calendar
October - ME OE from Latin October, eighth month in the early Roman calendar
November - ME OE from Latin November, ninth month of the early Roman calendar, from novem NINE
December - ME Decembre from OF and Latin December, tenth month of the early Roman calendar (decem TEN + membri from mens MONTH + ri suffix)
there you go. I would have expected them to totally discard this system of date given its pagan origin.

Car TalkRe: FRSC: Commercial Drivers Must Be 26 To Get Licence. by plendil: 12:00pm On Dec 27, 2012
oyb: while i understand and appreciate the principle, there is a contradiction here - where are they going to get the experience and expertise from? its not as if commercial drivers are from a strata of society that has would provide their children with personal vehicles. they will have no access to cars to get driving experience - private owners and institutions are even less likely to hire people below 26 for the same reasons

this is a catch 22

the real culprit and villain in this are the FRSC themselvs, who have turned a drivers license into a piece of plastic a cripple can pay 5000 for.

the only thing you can count on the FRSC to actively enforce is a revenue driving venture like the new license plates or those ridiculous reflective stickers
Isn't that why we have driving schools?

bettymafy: A man refusing to eat his wife's food is like a woman refusing to take "chop" money from her husband because they had a disagreement. It never gets to the man if his wife refuses taking money from him after a quarel, then why should a wife bother her head when her husband refuses to eat her food?

The moral of the lesson is: u only end up hurting ursef if u refuse eating (in the case of the man) or taking money (in the case of the woman). Time to grow up people!
LOL @ bolded. The wife refusing to collect chop money because of disagreement will upset the man?? over himself with elation you mean! The man probably looking for ways to dodge that responsibility and the wife has given the perfect opportunity.

Look at it this way: Christians come together to choose a date--that it was originally a pagan festival is irrelevant--to commemorate the date of the physical entry of their Lord and Savior in to the world, not following the pagan traditions that it originally symbolized through aimless merry making, but showing love to the unloved, feeding the hungry, reaching the unsaved, and other worthy ventures. Do you honestly believe those doing that will go to hell?

Ayee Idris: That's my husband M.O. It drives so mad when he refuses to eat after a disagreement. This is someone that loves to eat. Unfortunately for me, i have not reached the mindset where his refusal to eat doesn't bother me cos i worry about him, and i really hate to waste food.i wish we could just fight without the food rejection. Gats to settle with him so he can eat. I may have set a bad precedence by always ending the fight when he enters his hunger mode, but he is like my first born child. His health comes b4 my pride. Always thought it was peculiar to my hubby but i guess its a guy thing.
Wow! this is beautiful. Hubby must be very lucky to have you. wink

doofanc: Some men, just to show how irritated they are, will not only reject the wife's food, but buy food outside and eat it in her presence. That i believe is the biggest insult.

I know a family where this happened, that d wife took the food and threw it away. The man almost got physical (he didn't, thankfully) but it was so serious that it took intervention of family members to settle them.
Funny, my dad used to do that, and yes it was very annoying to my mum, tantamount to physical abuse. But looking back, I see it as extremely childish. No offense dad. . . embarassed

Dudurex: The truth of the matter is, if you truly love your wife, and she loves you in return, the moment you refused to eat she will never be comfortable. In practice, If am not pleased with certain issue at home with my wife, I may not feel the urge to eat, this is not a pride or anything close to it.Although, I dont do this often, its when the issue gets me so pained, the solution to this is that,my wife too will refused to eat and this is how it ends bcs,I will resolve the matter when I feel she realize what she did wrong. At that moment, everything will return to normal as if we had not had any quarrel
Finally a sensible post. I don't think (in most cases anyway) that the refusal is deliberate. If the man is really hurt, he likely lose appetite. It happens to me, so I should know.

I'm still struggling to understand the purpose of this thread.

For a start, I don't think any right thinking Christian will be under any illusion that the date used for Christmas was not originally a pagan festival. That has been proven beyond doubt. what I have issues with is using that as the reason for discouraging Christmas.

I asked OP where in the Bible it is said that celebrating birthdays is a sin, the best you could come up with is the fact that all those that did it were pagans?

I would have thought that the nature of the celebration and not the celebration itself would make the practice sinful.
