Bandits have kidnapped two Nigerian Army personnel on Maiduguri-Damaturu highway, Goni Masari area in Borno. A wireless message sent by 29 Task Force Brigade and seen by Peoples Gazette stated that the soldiers, identified as Bello Abubakar and Oyediran Adedotun were kidnapped while traveling to Kano, in a civilian vehicle at about 5:07 p.m. on Saturday. It was reported that passengers in the vehicle alerted the army base in Mainok, having observed the driver’s suspicious behaviour and his familiarity with the bandits. It was believed that the bandits operated based on information relayed to them by the driver, the signal message said. Subsequently, troops from the 134 special forces battalion led by the commanding officer were mobilised to the scene, but the bandits had fled the area, seeing that soldiers were mobilised to the general area. The driver and vehicle were also immediately apprehended and are in the army’s custody. “The soldiers were on pass when the incident occurred. Liaison with Sect 2 MIB revealed that a SAR operation is being conducted while the driver of the bus in which the soldiers were traveling is suspected to be a prime suspect in the incident due to some indicators. He has been arrested by troops and is undergoing investigation,” the army document stated. The troops were said to have dominated the Mada/Matari area with no further contact. Mr Abubakar’s identity card and wallet were found in the vehicle, but the army was unable to discover the whereabouts of the soldiers and other passengers. The incident came barely two days after a military officer of 16 Brigade, Yenagoa, Abbas Fatai, was shot dead by suspected members of Icelanders cult group. Mr Fatai was shot dead at about 9:12 p.m. on July 22, at Igbogene Junction in Yenagoa local government area of Bayelsa, where he resided, according to preliminary investigations by the army. Earlier in April, some gunmen stormed Onipe village along the Ijebu-Ode-Ibadan road in Oluyole local government area of Ibadan, kidnapping one female soldier, Bola Ogunrinde, and two other women. Mrs Ogunrinde was kidnapped while driving a Toyota RAV-4, with registration number AGL 66 FY in the area. https://gazettengr.com/just-in-bandits-kidnap-nigerian-soldiers-on-major-highway/ Cc lalasticlala Mynd44 |
Hassanmaye:Arson is not gender selfish. It could have been a guy too you know? |
Hmm All I see is the layout of the former house but revamped with touches here and there. The kitchen is a dead giveaway. |
davidufuoma:Really?? |
First things first, if you have grown men or boys in the house, you can arm yourselves while waiting for them to break in. I know of families that have dane guns, pump actions and double barrels at home. If you’re strapped, please, feel free to spray them to hell. Keep your bullets close by for quick reloading. Add to that petrol. You can find a way to open the least protective door while leaving your main burglary proof in place. Pour petrol in a big plate, splash it on them and light (but please, be careful as you do this). If you’re the type that keeps bottles at home, break them and try to throw the sharp parts at them. If you have nail guns at home, you already know what to do. Now while you’re defending yourself, it’s important to keep your cool and have a strong heart. Else fear will make you make silly mistakes. I will not suggest cutlass, incase they’re armed with guns. Also watch out, incase the assailants are also armed especially with guns that they can shoot. While attacking them, make sure you’re always taking cover. But if you’re the only man in the house or not plenty guys, just keep calm and do what they say, life is precious. I have listed those suggestions above because they have worked for igbo men that live with their boys in the house. Imagine a house with 5 to 6 grown men with their blood sharp and boiling. |
Reinaldo:Exactly o. I didn’t see her light any gas cooker. I don’t know exactly what was lit but it seems to be paper or plastic in nature. |

I have a piece of land in a good dry area in lagos. I can sell the land but that is the last thing in my list of options. Now I need to know what I can do with the land to raise considerable funds. I’ve been thinking of leasing but please, give and discuss your suggestions. P.S I don’t want to use the land as collateral for a loan and I will sell but only if all other options are not favorable. Addendum: I had already started a building project on the land but stopped before reaching decking. |
Saifullah01:@Monogamy can you now see? Oh look, I also found something for you: http://www.rogerblench.info/Anthropology/Africa/The%20present%20in%20the%20past.pdf |
Monogamy:Na them be this. You can argue but you cannot back up your arguments with proof. It was not even an argument to start with. I actually want to know but I will not take your word of mouth as canon. Even before you mentioned google, I had already taken a quick glance at some search results and almost all of them point back to slavery in southern Nigeria. Even you yourself said: Monogamy: |
Monogamy:Look at you. Oga paste links of papers that talks about slave trade in northern Nigeria or go and sit down. |
Monogamy:Now you’re deflecting. If you know so much, educate us here. The OP asked a question after all. Give us timelines and point us to reading materials. |
Monogamy:He asked if there was slave trade and I said there were jihads instead. Unless you can show me a timeline of northerners being sold and shipped off. With proof of where they settled after slavery had been abolished. |
