Blaqq2: you must have a lot of capital for not being greedy
on another note i heard in another forum that if you dont have 10m+ stocks is not for you? is that you guys philosophy too? Is returns on investment not measured in percentage? The stock market is for every single person who is ready to put in the work and ready to learn and not about the size of investment. |

chillykelly86: The portion of the new shares that will be credited to share capital is the nominal value, the rest will be credited to share premium. Eg. If they issued 8b new shares of 50k each at #2.50k. They would have raised approximately #20b. #4b will be credited to share capital (8b × 0.50k) while #16b will be credited to share premium account. Thanks for the explanation. |

phadriz: All shares capital are put in the balance sheet at book value while the excess will be reported in share premium. According to the Q3 account. Japaul issued additional units of 8,000,002,000 shares which generated a premium of 13,960,000,000.
Please note that each shares book value is 50kobo, that is why you see 4B increase in share capital. Ok, thanks. |

another big opportunity to sell the refinery to OANDO for peanut and it will start working immediately I for one will not care if that refinery is given out free to anyone. Streetinvestor2: It would have been a good news if they are saying the truth but it is a big lie. That cbn guy and finance guy got thr blessings from Muhammad lair the formal minister of information The reserve can not be going up without impacting the exchange rate positively Foreign reserve is not what a country can lie about. The best they can do is to play around the net reserve which exactly is what they are doing. Yes reserve can be going up and the exchange rate will be deteriorating as long as the cbn is not ready to commit it's reserve to defend the naira. |

ositadima1: I read about someone who sold family land to fund his betting habit, and it made me think about why people gamble without understanding the mathematical concepts behind the offered odds. If you're familiar with the concept of expected value (what you would theoretically win per game if you were to play the same game millions of times), you would know that all games offered by betting sites have negative expected value.
Let me explain: each game is forecasted by a team of analysts and mathematicians who arrive at likely probabilities for the betting outcomes. This forecasting is ongoing even while the game is being played, which is why you can see the odds change throughout the game. The experts forecast the probabilities and then do something clever – they adjust the odds so that your expected value becomes negative before setting the final odds you see.
For example, if the odds of a coin toss getting heads is 50% (equivalent to odds of 2.0), they will adjust the odds to be equivalent to 55% (odds of 1.8 ). Instead of winning 1 naira whenever you win, you get 0.8 naira, effectively losing 0.2 on each game – and this assumes you're as good as their analysts.
The best way to approach betting, in my opinion, is to treat it like a lottery: bet nothing more than 100 naira on multiple games ticket and target big payouts, unless you believe you're better at analysis than their team of educated analysts.
Let me share my experience: before I went down the betting rabbit hole, I used to bet frequently, starting from virtual games with the martingale system to betting large amounts on single games. I lost over 2 million naira in the three years I was doing it around 2016 – money that I could have invested in the stock market instead. Some of my posts from those days are still on the Nairaland betting thread. You still lost money to betting with all your ability in mathematical calculations |

Mpeace: Which country has world bank ever helped out of poverty. When Greece, Portugal, Spain etc had economic crisis, they did not consult niether did world bank offer any policy directive. These countries used tax holidays, subsidies and incentives to revive their economies. But world bank will only come when its africa, ask us to tax our people the more, give us loans (which they take 45% of as consultation fees) and encourage us to carry out policies that only ensures we remain slaves to Europe and america. Like we are ccurrently mortgaging our oil or loan. I remember when Dubai was coming up, they totally rejected world bank policies and as a result they got all the condemnations and insults from world bank, IMF and the rest. Today UAE is doing so well. Same with many otjer countries. As long as we keep working for world bank and other international monetary funds we will keep mortgaging the future of this country to them, we will remain where we are and they will keep praising us. Working for world bank? Do we even need world bank to tell us to do some of those things? World bank is simply telling us, Don't spend the money you don't have. Does it make sense for us to keep borrowing money to pay petrol subsidy and defend our currency? What is wrong in telling us to generate more money? |

Disclaimer - Not a recommendation to buy or sell. I think something is not right with that q2 in my opinion. The profit is only good for the company but very poor with the group . Since its the group that is listed, the results might not be good as some people thought. |

Shalom428: It's not too much if the system works. It's not too much if the tax will be put to work and not embezzled. The government only wants to expand the tax bracket so as to have more money for their lavish lifestyle. Senators SUVs , Presidential jets and so on. It is never in the interest of the populace
And how many companies can give 80% in less than a year on NSE ? And if you are planning to be cashing out in less than a year , you are a potential jijoist. An average investor eyes 5 - 10 years
Nigeria is not stable enough for this kind of policy. Like I said earlier, it will collapse the market cos their will be mass exodus of investors. The market will not collapse because of capital gain tax. |

ositadima1: Lol, in fact, Dangote will be our savior and also save the Tinubu government. In 2023, refined products accounted for about 35 to 37% of Nigeria’s total imports in dollar terms (according to the Nigerian National Bureau of Statistics).
Unless something else fills that gap, the dollar is bound to fall. If the dollar falls, the $74 per barrel will cost Dangote and other refineries less, which means lower costs for us as consumers. I haven’t factored exports of refined products into this, but with Bua and many smaller refineries expected to start operations soon, I’m hopeful. We all want the naira to appreciate but we should also be realistic with our expectations. Yes, import bills will reduced but so also is our export earnings from crude oil. |
