erwinschro: That is the narrative we are being given and that is a big problem. My worry is this and I think the FPI will be concerned too: if oil price is about $100 and we still cannot get enough dollar to balance our trade, what do you think will happen if oil price drops to like $50 ? Where are we going to get dollar to give them to repatriate their money if and when they decide to move their funds? 2 Likes |

Agbalowomeri: Sentiments apart, I think we should all be worried by some of the issues raised by JP Morgan. How could oil price be going up and is not having a positive effect on our reserve? Periods of high oil price had always been a good one for the country reserve and balance of trade. Something is definitely not right. 2 Likes |

sonofElElyon: You need to be calming down Looking at some of the companies you have mentioned here (daar communication, mcnichols, unity bank among others) for possible buy, one will not be wrong if someone says you are probably new in this business. My advice, be humble, learn how to read and interpret financial reports and shun the tendency to look for hand out on stock picks as well as quick gains.... We are in a marathon race here and not sprint........ Peace! 8 Likes |

He doesn't only buy shares in companies with good numbers, he is also interested in those managing the companies.. If I can still recollect, he once said some glowing words about the present MD of UCAP. I will not be surprised if he knows the MD of those 3 companies he mentioned personally... 5 Likes 2 Shares |

If you will not mind i will like that you mention some other stocks you are watching ( non banking) so that someone like me can also look it up to see if they meet my investment criteria. |

Cadillac15: I will like to disagree with you here. The guy you are quoting is doing a great job, there is no harm in exploring all options with a view to discovering what works best for different markets. Both FA and TA work in NSE. Yes our market is not perfect but there is no perfect market anywhere. 1 Like |

gabscity: You are not dealing with the borrowers directly. Money is pooled together by exchangers who in turn lend the money out. You have to have more assets than what you want to borrow so that they can easily call back the borrowed fund when the value drops to a certain threshold. Just like I said earlier, not getting back one's fund from the borrowers is not an issue. As much as I don't want to continue this discussion here I am not always comfortable when I see posts that don't represent the whole truth. My last comment on crypto here for now. 2 Likes |

emmanuelewumi: Most of the crypto exchanges which offer this kind of service has a robust system that makes defaulting by borrowers almost impossible. It definitely carries some risk but not getting the money back from the borrowers is not an issue. |

emmanuelewumi: You borrow against your assets on the platform. You are not allowed to borrow more than a certain percentage of your assets. The probability of default by the borrower is almost nil. |

emmanuelewumi: By lending out your coins, you get an interest paid to you by the borrower. The yield varies from time to time and the platform. Between 5 to 30%. On the average I am looking at a yield of 15%. |

emmanuelewumi: Not all crypto currencies are volatile. And contrary to your assertion, some do generate cash flow. More or less like holding dollars. One can play it relatively safe by holding some of those stable coins and generate interest on them. You can get an APR that will beat the reruns on our treasury bill and euro bond. In essence, crypto is not all about buying and selling of bitcoin and other highly volatile coins. It is a very wide space which one can play according to his knowledge, risk appetite and expected returns. 2 Likes |

QuinModah: Has anything come out of national assembly summons of anybody before. If CBN reevaluate its own action, it might take a new approach and possibly put in some regulations in place . My point actually is not to put any hope in CBN changing its stance. If they change, good, if they don't, we look for alternatives and move on. 2 Likes |

Tobex4realTobex234: CBN is not dump, they have to take some actions. I had already envisaged what they did before they actually strike. The rate of growth in crypto trading in the last one year is crazy. How could we be trading over 20b in a day(to be conservative) in crypto vs ngn and NSE will be struggling with 4b?? |

No matter what you say to those people they will never understand. Why those who don't have a single unit of crypto are here analysing stufff, guys are still making money even on a Sunday. More than 5 billion have already exchanged hands today on binance trading ngn. 6 Likes |

jedisco: Binance is relatively new,but it should be the biggest now. We have too much money in circulation with people not willing to invest in real economy. Who can blame them? I can not also blame CBN for this directive though I am somehow affected.. The CBN has to do its job part of which is to control the money in circulation. I don't envy the CBN governor, we as a country are in a very delicate and difficult situation. 2 Likes |

emmanuelewumi: Remittances from abroad are mostly now done with crypto which is cheaper and faster. With the CBN new directive, that will be almost not possible. Everyone will have to go through the bank now, so some of them have reasons to lament 6 Likes |
