PoliticsRe: How GEJ Is Preparing To Divide Nigeria by PointB: 2:37pm On Oct 14, 2013
Sam_Ikenna: No, what we need is to call a spade a spade. If you think Igbo is the problem kick them out. If its Yoruba, slice them out. If its Arewa, by all means get them out of here.

There's no power that's holding us together, I'm not that dumb to be a fatalist. Not that I'm calling you one but I think you're giving back to God the choice he gave us when he made man. We have a choice to decide what we want, good or bad. The only thing in life that God binds together is marriage and that is if both agree.

I wont be shocked if people in the former Soviet said the same thing - God brought us together, lets stay together, we will suffer if we break up, and other yati yati yati. Man is scared of the unknown, thats understandable. However, when the kitchen is on a fire that's fixing to take the house down then its time to get out. Get out and build a new one bro. Its only fools that would stay in the titanic when its going down and pretend - oh no this is unsinkable, its God's ship, he built it so it can't sink. Negro it will!

Nigeria will sink faster than a titanic because there'e no love or anything that binds us together except oil money and mutual suspicion. How can such nation move forward? How can we not sink when Boko Haram is audacious to make a video where a citizen's throat is slit? How can we not sink when citizens are killing eachother in the Jos and even eating the flesh to show their fellow citizens how prepared they are for war? How can we not sink when a section of the country think they're born to rule?

Look at what we call a nation today, is it not a joke? When are we going to get off this ship, is it when Nigeria clocks 300 million in population with 50 million Almajiris to reboot the jihad every now and then? Do you see the size of Nigeria? you think it can take in 300 million people? Yeah right! If we wait any longer, considering how disjointed and hateful we're now, I guarantee you it'll be one hell of catastrophe for Nigeria. Lets change direction while we can.
Well said my brother.

I also wonder why we MUST live together with all these mutual suspicion and zero national cohesion.

Not sure if I can go through the whole thread. I guess I stopped at page 9 or 10.

Here is my take:

The Protagonist- Bestview (aka Chino) and the Antagonist Abagworo cannot be relied upon to be objective as far as Imo/Anambra is concerned. One is a well know 'supremacist' and the other more or less a 'sycophant.' And they keep regurgitating same (old) pictures to buttress their point.

Anyone who seek genuine information about the state of affairs in Imo State is best advised to look for alternative sources.

Chima_Adeoye: [size=14pt]We should stop chasing shadows and focus on where the problem lie, which is those who authorized the plane to fly.
The NCAA will ground planes in the Presidential fleet or even a state Governor's jet if they feel it is unsafe to fly!

[b]"In Nigeria, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is the apex regulatory body, overseeing the activities of all airlines and their pilots, engineers and cabin staff, airports, airstrips and heliports, navigation aids, all service providers including the airport authority and the air traffic service provider, aviation training institutions, etc. NCAA watches over the entire industry. Its role can aptly be described as that of "general overseer" or "referee:' For want of a better sobriquet, NCAA has even been address as the "police" of the industry.

One of the key instruments of NCAA's regulation is the issuance or revalidation of licenses such as Air Operator's Certificate (AOC), Air Transport Licence (ATL), Airline Operating Permit (AOP), Permit for Non Commercial Flight (PNCF) and Air Travel Organizer's License (ATOL). NCAA's Aviation Safety Inspectors conduct unscheduled on the spot inspections of the operations of airlines and other service providers to ensure continuous compliance with the regulations guiding their operations"

Soon enough November will be upon us. I lost interest in this election the moment Soludo was disqualified.

I sincerely hope Anambra choose the right person to lead them. However deep down in my mind, I don't think this rigger, Okija shrine user, and lazy senator is the right man. Anambra should vote wisely.

PoliticsRe: Why Bola Tinubu Needs To Be The NEXT Nigerian President. He’s The FUTURE! by PointB:
Op,
I agree with you. Tinubu deserves to be President of the inmates in one of Nigeria's maximum security prisons for crimes ranging from fraud, perjury, embezzlement, drug offence among others. His ideas and ingenuity in crime and criminality will immensely benefit inmates who are looking forward to life outside prison as successful criminals. A craft well mastered by one and only Ijogbon - Tinubu.

All in favour say 'Aye'!

Future indeed!

PoliticsRe: For Those Who Do Not Understand "Why ASUU Is On Strike" by PointB: 12:55pm On Oct 07, 2013
Nice one.

But if you must know, there are things that demand attention:

1. Electricity is not yet 24/7
2. Road networks need attention
3. Hospitals
4. There is hardly water in the taps (if the taps exist at all).
5. Police
6. Water ways
7.
.
.
.
.

I don't have time to list them all.

Bottom line, the University is not the only sectors that needs fixing - Nigeria indeed needs to be fixed, and resource obviously is not enough. Lecturers are simply fighting for their pockets and using those challenges as an excuse.

PAGAN 9JA:
I think its appropriate for cows to roam freely and graze in the bush and near villages in reserves.

Where will the food fall from? The sky?

Who will feed the cows of an entire ethnic group? You?

And ranch cattle gradually do submit to genetic modification, etc. It has happened everywhere. And the quality will always be lower than free-ranging cattle.
Where will food fall from?!

Put them in ranches, and see if people will not cultivate grass (or whatever they eat) and sell to the ranch owners for the cows. The bushes, and so called forest are own by the people, and I doubt if they will be willing to let their lands be used for such.

Your argument is archaic and ridiculous. Bottom line, make available your own farmland. No other person is willing to surrender their scarce land to dagger-wielding cattle herders, not with their savage antecedent!
PoliticsRe: Herdsmen Task Government On Cattle Routes by PointB: 11:58am On Oct 07, 2013
PAGAN 9JA:
I said there needs to be a change in the routes. which is why I applaud this decision of the Govt.
And I think it's foolishness for cows to graze (in villages, towns and cities) in this century.

Food and drugs can be made available to the cows in the ranches, and they (cow and herdsmen) need not be genetically modified to live in ranches!

And how is grazing better than ranching?
PoliticsRe: Herdsmen Task Government On Cattle Routes by PointB: 11:11am On Oct 07, 2013
Nonsense!

There shouldn't be anything like cattle grazing route in 21st century. Animals (all categories) should be housed. Cattle belong to the ranch!

theoctopus: You know these guys like to throw fake statistics around and they always dwell on the negative because it gives them an escape route for their failures. For example, compare and contrast the following statements

1. Nigeria has about 160 million population but

2. They say 80% of Nigerians live on 1 dollar a day

3. Nigeria has over 110 million active telephone lines

4. Over 50 million Nigerians have Internet access via their phones

5. Nigerians spend over 5 billion daily on recharge cards.

6. Nigerian urban cities like Abuja, Lagos and PH are expanding astronomically. Lagos has practically merged with Ogun. (Maybe our politicians are the ones living in all the new houses being built! grin)

So who are these people on less than a dollar a day?
My guy, It's all part of the conspiracy of hypocrisy and insincerity aimed at calling a dog a bad name in order to hang it. Many young Nigerians are having some of the best times of their lives, but these scheming and angry ones will rather have us believe otherwise, albeit with no evidence to support it, other than some questionable 'anecdotal' evidence and hasty generalization.

Omen100: The worst of it all is the unseen physical battles being fought between the Igbos + Ijaws against any other tribes who speaks against the erroneous policies of president Jonathan's lead administration, to the length that their own regional fellows are being addressed as betrayers just because they are not from the same philosophical schools of thoughts, even my elder brother do call me sometimes a traitor just because I acquired the Yoruba political philosophy.

I am an Urhobo by tribe but my elder sibling sees me as Itsekiri because the Itsekiri shared the political philosophy
What crap is this one yapping about? What has Itsekiri, Urhobo and Igbo got to do with Nigerians 'insensitivity' to people who died trying to ferry the dead in a chartered aircraft? Must everything be seen from tribal lens?

Abeg park somewhere!
PoliticsRe: On the Dangerous Gulf Emerging Amongst Nigerians by PointB: 5:13pm On Oct 04, 2013
Bluntly speaking, if they could afford a chartered craft to ferry the dead, they should have at least gone for pretty better one.
It's sad that Nigerian, and perhaps one or more who had nothing to do with the dead were caught up in the tragic incident. May they rest in peace!

The 'coldness' or indifference with which certain tragedies (especially of the rich) is viewed, is far dissociated with poverty, but rather due falling premium placed on (Nigerian) lives occasioned by impunity which mass murderers (especially Islamists, Jihadists, Boko Haram, Kidnappers, Militants. etc) have been left to run rampage for a very long time. Unraveling violent crimes, and punishing murderers and there sponsors - with capital punishment, and generally stemming the atmosphere of impunity for murders will go along way into addressing this indifference we associate with tragic deaths.

As per the argument that the gulf between the rich and poor is widening, more evidence is needed to support it. As contrary to the Op's submission, this gulf is actually shrinking as the Nigeria middle class (the bridge between the rich and poor) is actually growing. The growing number of social network users, is actually an indicator of this growth, not a sign of widening gap. A quick search for Nigeria middle class churned out the attached page:

PoliticsRe: National Confab: ACF Tackles Ohanaeze On Equal Representation by PointB: 8:52am On Oct 04, 2013
kettykin: This is the retarded way of thinking of Arewa that has made them the dwarf of Africa in every sector of human endeavour apart from terrorism.
Does China with their 1.6 billion human capital have more representatives and votes than France with less than 80 million people in United nation security council. Do they have more representative in United nation than Benin Republic, why then does the north which even though less literate people, less educated, less intelligent, less productive less graduates, less achievers and less independent entrepreneurs want to produce more representative than eastern Nigeria which has produced more graduates, intellectuals, better entrepreneurs sports men and women, better soldiers, bankers doctors engineers, technologists technicians.

Why is the core north so awkward backward in their thoughts all the time
Fixed. Completely agreed.

Symphony007: no. I don't mean on this development. I want them to look at this government, policies and actions of the president during his tenure so far and tell me if there is something or a policy they disagree with. Example, I am a known fierce critic of the president but on this case. I commend him greatly.
Ok. I understand you. There will be time and space for that on a separate thread, indeed there have been many. But just so you know, no one says the President is perfect or that all his policies and politics are good. But many of us see the Rails working, power station springing up, airport remodeled, agricultural revolution. terrible roads (Benin-Ore etc) fixed, elections free and fair, press free, etc and we are impressed.

Surely you can't begrudge us, especially when he succeeded where other woefully failed!

Lol, miracles do happen. As it is in Nigeria, so it is in Nairaland. You may yet be redeemed. Here are my tips:

You should do what you know best - create another ID, but do away with the bold multi-color text, and childish gifs. Dump the juju and clutch a bible, renounce old ways and preach new found peace. Sooner or later the Admin will notice you, and the rest will simply be history. But I must agree with you, it's a tall order. cheesy cheesy grin grin
