@Pain If Jonathan aim to make the Ijaw nation what you claimed, then he has my full support for his methodology. What is one Nigeria where people are not living up to their potential? Every well meaning citizen should work towards bringing Nigeria to the negotiating table. CARRY GO GEJ |
We are on the same page egift. This exercise is purely for recognition. In any case having not king has not be very good politically for Igbos. Flash back to the bible time (the Jews an offshoot of the Igbo race or the other way round) recognized this problem and demanded for a king. Having a king, ruler, rep, or spokeman for the Igbo ethnic group is not bad in the real sense. It is goof for unity and cohesion. Time has changed so many things. |
To avoid manipulation of the Igbo choice, 1. well known ethnic champion of rival ethnic group nominations will be discounted. 2. Freshly registered posters nomination will have to be seconded by a old poster without bias to rule 1 above. 3. Posters whose ethicity/loyalty have been challenged severally by well known Igbo posters will have their nomination/seconding discounted. |
@Aigbofa, lol you are a diehard Yoruba ethnic champion. Nice one all the same. Anyway you can participate in the voting. @bliss4life, it's well taken even though you will be missed. @ryo, it is by nomination, then election. This process in the worse case scenario will show us the most respected and popular Igbo on Nairaland. Subsequent, he would be expected to champion the Igbo cause same way he has been doing. Only that he will be more self conscious of that responsibility. |
@topic / OP Yorubas are actually the most corrupt in Nigeria. Bode George, Tafa Balogun, Tinubu, Akala, Gbenga Daniel, Alao Akala, Bankole, Iyabo Obasanjo are all Igbos? Abacha, IBB, Atiku, etc are also Igbo? If they are not can I have the Igbo equivalent of these? |
Is this confirm? If it is true, then this will be one transformation too many. Government should apply the brake here, it is transforming too far and too fast. Okada should only be banned state by state on the basis of their own need not nationally. anyway we await confirmation. |
^^^^ Thanks sweetheart, in any case I am not qualified. I am the electoral officer here. Though you are a lady you are aptly qualified for nomination. If I get favourable nomination for you, you will feature. It will be up to the voters to choose. There is no precedence for Eze Ndi Igbo on Nairaland and since we cannot verify the s.ex of the posters I would not suggest that female cannot be virtual Eze. |
^^^^ Thanks. Lets keep them coming. Top 5 nominees will be polled next week. |
Applying the ban rule a hundred times in the past for something done for the fun still does not make it right. It is anachronistic in today's world. |
Nairalanders, shall we begin? I know this will piss off some people, but are we beholden to them? I think for better political and social cultural cohesion of the Igbo nation on Nairaland, we should nominate and elect an Eze Ndigbo Nairaland. We can also discuss here his functions and term of office. Who knows what other use this can be put to? Of course other ethnic group are free to do theirs. Nominations please. Edited to include: Qualities and responsibilities expected Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland The Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland is expected to 1 understands and listens to Ndi Igbo 2 enlightens Ndi Igbo 3 guides, but does not dictate to, Ndi Igbo 4 enables and empowers Ndi Igbo 5 motivate Ndi Igbo 6 inspires Ndi Igbo 7 credits Ndi Igbo 8 helps Ndi Igbo 9 leads Ndi Igbo by example. 10 serves Ndi Igbo Please let the above guide you in your nomination and voting. Igbos must put the best foot forward - Online, Offline! |
Beaf it is for me. This rule on banning is a disingenuous way to target some people and scheme them out. The worse about thing about these banning is the oftentimes arbitrariness of it. Indeed one cannot total rule out the application of one or two negative ism - nepostism, favoritism, or downright ethnicism in banning. Or how else does one explain the fact that a very moderate poster like my goodself was once ban without any prior warning? Applying these rule to deprive posters like beaf and Kobojunkie (Gbawe in case he is affected) and a host of others who have made this section lively, dynamic, and flavored is very anachronistic, and borders dangerously close to despotism, and indeed counter productive. Knowing the mods very well, it is futile to ask them to rescind this bad rule, but it is important nevertheless that erudite members of this section state their opinion on this bad and anachronistic policis and rules which is gradually becoming the order of the day here. "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." |
People are waiting for war, meanwhile there is already a low intensity welfare goin on in the north and middle belt. Pls those who have families and relatives in the north should call them and advise them as appropriate - issue traveling warning or residency alert. "Warsaw did not see war, until war saw Warsaw." |

namfav:What is not happening. has fresh elections been held? In any case, 2015 will be the end of Nigeria, that if it does not happen earlier. Neither hausa/fulani nor igbo presidency will stop it from happening. The only condition is cessation of any form of killing by hausa/fulani in Northern or any part of nigeria for that matter. If you guys still want Nigeria to exist you must heed this warning, or else . . .? |
Ayoobscom:Yea right I am jealous of allah because he takes away worship from me. allah is so successful and feared because Osama kill and co killed in his name and no one is killing in my name, that is why I am jealous of allah? Lol at your logic and you judge for yourself who the Oponu is between you and I? Jealous of allah indeed. |
Ileke-IdI:Meaning they could as well be paid for doing nothing? ![]() |
namfav:Compared to kidnapping and bombing, and drive by shooting, issuing threats is child-play. Do you know the meaning of hoax? |
ezeagu:I agree with you. Daily you keep hearing 'go and develop your land.' But when you look at musiwa's famous satelite pictures. ![]() https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-688971.0.html You see those living in well laid out cities, and those choked beyond measure with slums for cities. Then looking at this statistics, another revelation begins to unfold. SE is indeed ahead her peers despite the war and government unfavorable policies. The intention of this post is actually to find an answer to some seemingly contradictions. Discounting Lagos and Abuja, 1. Is SE more developed compared to other Zones? 2. If the answer is YES, why do we keep hearing "Go and develop your region?" 3. If the answer is NO, where/what is the evidence of development in other regions compare to SE? Cities, wealth, health? Which Zone has the best cities? ( 4. If there is not evidence of such development, to what extent (with evidence) can non-indigenes claim to have developed other people's land? 5. If there is no such evidence of development (beyond what obtains in SE), should we not also ask why other Zones are not developing their land? In other words, why is there no picturesque view of SW Cities such as Abeokuta, Ibadan, Akure? Are they waiting for non-indigenes to take the lead in the long overdue face-lift of these cities? These contradictions needs to be properly addressed to better address the issue of "go and develop your region" mentality of Nigerians. |
Ileke-IdI: Beaf:The way I see it. The power that be, just let him of the hook. Perhaps, he would be paying back at a future date. A (hooked) crooked certainly have it use. Mark it, Tinubu is finished; he is too far compromised. The only way he can regain respect, and dignity is by transparent trial and acquittal. Anything short of that will expose him to future trial. The way he is left with a slap on the wrist makes him weak voice and a political liability. |
Ileke-IdI:Do you have a figure/data on this relocation? For all I care there are less than 1000 non-indigene in SW/North at any given time. Can you prove otherwise? |

Ileke-IdI: PointB: |
Indeed mind boggling statistics are found in that PDF. Here is the summary, Education: SW - Top (figures not stated) NW - Least Health Fertility (number of birth per woman) SW - 4.5 NW - 7.3 Nigeria average - 5.7 Tenage Child Bearing SE - 8% NW - 45% Nigeria Average - 23% Median Age at first sexual intercourse (WOmen) SE - 20.4 NW - 15.4 Child Vacination SE/SW - 43% NW - 6% Nigeria - 23 Stunted Growth (Malnutrition) SE - 22 NW - 53 Nigeria - 41% Use of Mosquito Net SE - 11% NW - 4 Nigeria - 6% TOPS SE - 4 Indices SW - 2 Indices More data of physical living environment/condition and GNI per capital needed. So far the statistics is revealing. |
ezeagu:Thanks man, will go through and will be back shortly. |
Ileke-IdI:Madam I am the one asking the question here. Sho gbo? |
ezeagu:What parameter are you basing your choice on? Any evidence? And delving further into the HDI by city standard, which six cities would you like to live in Nigeria? And why? |
Ileke-IdI:You have one on your mind? There are six geopolitical regions in any case NC NE NW SE SS SW Which of these regions in your opinion is better off in terms of the following HDI criteria 1. A long and healthy life: Life expectancy at birth 2. Education index: Mean years of schooling and Expected years of schooling 3. A decent standard of living: GNI per capita (PPP US$) I am not sure of the statistics of life expectancy across the region But certainly items 2, and 3 certainly favour the South. |
Ileke-IdI:Exactly how was he proved "Not Guilty"? Or how does dismissing a case on technicality amount to 'Not guilty' Tinubu was not tried either because the powers-that-be does not believe it worthwhile and have decided to give him soft landing. So you can continue with your victory lap because one of you was given a let off with a slap on the wrist but never because he was not guilty as charged. In any case, a leader is a as good as the society that raised him. Bode George, Tafa Balogun, Bankole, Gbenga, Obj, Tinubu are all very exemplary citizens, and indeed of yours; I hail! |
If corrupt men like Tinubu walk free on 'technicalities' , does that not justify the argument that there is no hope for nation building. Tearing up this country remain the most viable alternative. The funny thing is the ethnic coloration of the goons jumping into his defense. Tinubu has a case to answer, getting let off on technicalities does not in anyway eliminate any doubt on the charges of corruption against him. It is not yet Uhuru; Tinubu is yet to clear his name - both in certificate forgery, and corruption case. In any case, this saga has damaged him more than his bigoted supporters are wont to acknowledge. Tinubu is a common criminal, that is the people's verdict! |
Same sex marriage bill irrevocable – Mark Featured Written by Oluwole Josiah, Abuja font size decrease font size increase font size President of the Senate, David Mark, has reacted to the criticisms from the international community over the passage of the bill prohibiting the same sex marriage, saying the action by the Senate is irrevocable. Speaking while receiving the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Dorothee Janetzke-Wenzelin, in his office on Thursday, Mark said the Senate would not change its position in the face of threats by some foreign nations. He restated his position that countries could withdraw their aids to Nigeria if they wished on account of the law on the same sex marriage. Mark said, "It is unfair to tie whatever assistance or aid to Nigeria to the laws we make in the overall interest of our citizens, otherwise we are tempted to believe that such assistance comes with ulterior motives. "If the assistance is aimed at mortgaging our future, values, custom and ways of life, then they should as well keep their assistance." He also assured foreign missions in Nigeria of their safety as the Federal Government had risen to the occasion to check the menace of security threats. He said, "There is no need to panic or contemplate leaving Nigeria on account of security. We are doing our best to contain the situation. Recent events have shown that we are capable of handling the situation. Mark said Nigeria was aware of the challenging security situation and was exploring all reasonable local and international avenues to tackle the situation. "I can say without fear of contradiction that our efforts are yielding results in dealing with the security situation. So there is no need for anybody or mission to contemplate leaving Nigeria, we shall overcome," he said. According to him, Nigeria and Germany have a long history of bilateral relationship which he canvassed should be improved upon for the benefit of both nations.
